Hello all,
I think I may have bricked my nexus one. It is completely my fault for attempting things that I knew little about, so flame away But after the flaming, if anyone is willing to help I would be sooooo thankfull...
I successfully rooted my phone following the instructions on this page: (all links edited with a double asterisk as I don't believe I can post links)
h**p://theunlockr.com/2010/01/02/how-to-root-the-nexus-one/
Then successfully installed cyanogenmod (which is awesome!) following this page:
h**p://theunlockr.com/2010/01/08/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-nexus-one/
All was well, I even got the modaco desire rom up and running, and was happily switching back and forth using the recovery screen. I had nand backups for specific setups, etc.
Then I decided it would be good to know how to go back to stock, and found this page:
h**p://**w.androidspin.com/2010/05/06/guide-unrooting-your-nexus-one-its-like-it-never-happened-almost/
I followed the instructions to the letter (I think) except for erasing userdata (it said "failed: remote not allowed"). I thought that things would be ok, since I'd recently wiped, so I followed the page till the end.
The phone rebooted, and I got the original nexus boot animation - but it's in an endless loop! What's worse, it that now when I try to go to the bootloader or recovery mode, I get the exclamation triangle with the little android.
Is there any way through a command prompt (or other method) that I can fix this? I tried to re-flash the RA recovery image through the command prompt, but the response was, "waiting for device."
ANYTHING that anyone can suggest to help, I would be so thankful! I've been loving the nexus, and hate to think that I crippled it
Thanks in advance,
Randy
I doubt its bricked.
Noticed you didnt mention that fast boot doesnt work? (power button+trackball) try it.
Once you get to fastboot you can flash any ROM back. (fastboot flash **** commands from a command shell)
Did you ever perform a Nand Backup from Recovery?
It's not bricked, the only way to brick is to interrupt power when flashing a Radio image
Connect phone to PC. Open command prompt.
adb reboot recovery
Wipe, reflash.
So far, nobody has managed to brick a Nexus. There is no way as the fastboot mode can restore the whole phone and can't be messed with. Make sure you have the latest version of the SDK with correct USB drivers and fastboot. Then try and reflash the recovery image.

It worked!!!!!
It worked!!
britoso, thank you soooooo much! The only way that I knew to get into bootloader/recovery was via power button/volume down, but power/trackball brought up the bootloader screen, and I clicked on fastboot. I was able to flash the RA recover image through the command terminal via fastboot, then able to get into recovery. I had cyan and modaco sense on the sd, and was able to flash one of them on.
I never thought I'd be so happy to see "quietly brilliant"!!! I WILL buy you a beer, a case in fact as soon as money clears my paypal account.
I have learned my lesson, research research research. (I did do some, but not enough to feel comfortable with what I was doing - hence my cry for help!)
Other than the phone and OS itself, the thing I like most about the nexus is the fact that one CAN root, and then customize (sold a Telus moto droid because I could not do that very thing).
I digress... thanks again so much!
And Paul, thanks for your sense ROM; I've had HTC phones from the Touch to the the diamond to the Hero, and missed the UI!

Glad to hear it. You learn the most by trial and error.
I think i got the same problem. i tried to Unlock Bootloader and Root Google Nexus One which was successful but then i tried to superboot it and when it came to the part where you "double click the ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’ file" i clicked it but it did not go to the nnext screen where the superboot completes it just stayed at the "bootloader screen". i must hve not done something or done something wrong i dont know.
So then i unplugged the phone from the pc and rebooted it. when it reeboted i wasnt getting any network, the phone was slow and the notification bar would not slide down...also i noticed the phone restarting on itself...
/i tried all kinds of "restore to factory settings" but not solved. Can anyone tell me what to do tht will work. I coud not understand what was said in the above thread as i am new to this android n my first time rooting n stuff n i believe that solution would work for me too..if some one could please explain in simple tirms the steps i need to take would be good...
Really appreciate it....

Tell me what i need to download again and how to go about it...i really need my phone working again ((((
I have looked high and low for a similar thread (detailing my specific problem) so I apologize if it exists and I was unable to locate it. I attempted to flash the PRIMEE ROM on my Acer with all apparently going well until the end. Messages were displayed saying that data, cache, etc. could not mount or something to that effect. I foolishly rebooted only to find that the Iconia will only display "Unrecoverable Bootloader Error (0x000000004)"
That's it. It is completely unresponsive to any other attempts to factory reset. Power/volume does nothing. I have looked extensively for some solution to this problem (attempted Reset button, moving lock screen slider/power-volume combination). You name it, I've tried it. It was briefly recognized by my PC when connected via USB but the AXP drivers were not found and did not install. I'm really flummoxed here.
Again, apologies if this is a duplicate thread but it seems fairly unique in that I cannot get any response at all. I fear that I've really done it this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You DID install the custom clockworkmod app from the dev section, right? Not the one from the market...
Clockwork.....
No, unfortunately I did not. Didn't even realize there was a difference. I did install the Acer Recovery App as well, but otherwise, I think I'm pretty well screwed....
Well mate, now thats a huge problem you got there. If you would've screwed the /system partition np, /data partition, also np.....But uhh, bootloader error...i got the feeling your flashing has screwed up the internal Kernel of the Device, which is connected to the Bootloader, and without a Bootloader...well as its name says, you cant boot anything. Its like a Bios to a normal Computer,if you screw up the Bios, basically you can throw your Motherboard away...and sadly, the tablet comes all together, also i dont think Acer's Warranty will do anything about it aswell since you flashed an unofficial ROM/Kernel.
Your only solution is to send it to Acer, and see if your lucky enough and they fix it for free,if not ...well pay or get another one.
Goodluck with your problem mate.
Respect.
Yeah - kinda figured as much. Very disappointed that I lost it but I suppose I can make one last ditch effort to get it to Acer and see if they'll replace it but I'm skeptical at this point. Oh well - first time for everything. Lesson learned. Thanks for the help all the same.
First, congratulations. You managed to get the unrecoverable bootloader error
--> PM me with your UID, I may help you.
..............Edited..............
You should talk with sc2k I was in the same position you're in with the Unrecoverable Bootloader Error. Sent sc2k the UID for my A500 and he was able get my A500 back up and running again.
first of all, make sure you have a sd-card.
second. dl a stock rom to your PC 1.10.42 for instance, extract with decrypter and put the update.zip on the sd-card using a card reader or maybe your phone.
the put the sd-card back on your ICONIA.
after do the following:
hit VOLUME + (volume up) and power, until it vibrates, keep you finger on volume + and toggle the screen toggle switch.
it will then say formating data and formating cache, and the will start to flash the update.zip
once finished you should be ok.
Hi,
i have the same probplem, can anyone help me?
i have installed a custom firmware from thor and enabled the 3g option, my a500 will only vibrate after reboot with the error "Unrecoverable Bootloader Error (0x000000004)"
i cant read out the UID or anything else ... can anyone help me???
APX Mode runs but i cant recover with nvflash ...
Hey,
I recently became the owner of a bricked Iconia a500 tablet. Beyond that, I don't know much about it and I cannot contact the previous owner...
The situation:
It will boot the the Acer logo, but it doesn't go beyond that.
I've searched this forum (and others) for ways to bring it back to life. A factory reset doesn't seem to do anything at all.
I can boot into recovery mode to load a rom, but cannot find the proper rom. CWM does not seem to be installed. I've looked for stock roms but none seem to work.
When I try and load a rom I will inevitably get a white triangle with an orange exclamation mark inside of it. Next to this is the android man.
I've found a few threads that purpose links to a stock rom, but a lot of them have file shares linked to Megaupload... which is.. well non-existent now.
Again, I can not tell you the anything about the current software.... if you know how I can find out that alone would be a huge help! = )
Many thanks,
Robert
This might be your best luck..
This flashed thru your computer adb.. apx mode..

Hey Erica,
Thanks for you very speedy response!
Well, I read a lot of that thread... lol probably more than I should admit. I followed the procedure but was unable to get a good connection via USB.
I was finally able to get it to register a Factory Reset thanks to that post. Had tried it a few times before... must have not been pressing hard enough?
Either way, it is stuck on Erasing Userdata... and Erasing Cache...
I saw that it was suggested it could be a hardware issue... What is your opinion?
Thanks,
Robert
I still think its a rom issue..
You might could try to download the rom again. and try again.. there is also another thread in the DEV section that does the same thing but differently you could try that or maybe posting there where a TRUE Developer might be able to help you..
I just repeat what i have learned from my own mistakes and read from others..
Sorry im not more help ..
Trust me Erica, you have been a great help! If I find a solution, I will update this thread with it = )
Thanks!
Robert
Hey Guys!
Sorry about writing about a topic that seems to have been covered many times before. The solutions I found did however not solve my problem, I am still stuck.
I have ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.5 installed, it boots fine but with tons of file system related errors.
E:\Unable to process volume! Skipping...
E:\unknown volume for path... this is repeated probably about 10 times one for each folder it tries to access
I tried going back to Odin and install different PIT files that I could find; gt-p1000_mr.pit and p1_add_hidden.pit
I then tried doing the dbdata.rfs.tar and just dbdata.tar
Still same problem with the filesystem
All of this started with my device just stopping at the Sammy logo after re-boot. The re-boot was a normal one, not related to any patching, modding or anything else. A normal daily reboot. I have an about one year old Overcome ROM in my phone that I haven't fiddled at all with since I installed it. It has been working just fine.
I didn't have the partion or filesystem problem at this point...
I booted into Clockwork and ran evert format/file wipe menu option I could find, with the intent to just install a newer ROM later to resolve the problem and get a new fresh completely clean tab.
The problem started after this... I thought that I would just be able to get a new Overcome, BOCA or some other nice ROM from the SD card. Problem was of course that my SD card couldn't be mounted after I had wiped everthing...
So I tried all the above stuff with the dbdata and pit files but it didn't recover...
Any ideas?
Thank you!
well, get the restock files from overcome site and flash a fresh gingerbread safe 5, all the needed files are in the zip.
good luck
ps: Read the manual, in case you forgot about something.
If I helped you, please press the thanks button
You did help me, thank you! I needed the stock ROM I did however manage to make things even worse and ended up with the "Phone-Exclamation mark-Computer"-logo. That got me worried. Some googling did however help me solve the problem.
I made a write up to help other come from this state to a completely working phone with custom ROM installed. Hope it will help others. http://blog.vel.nu/?p=97
Again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
you're welcome
by the way, the process of debriking the tab is very well explained on your blog!
Thank you! (in case i brick mine, i will refer to your blog)
If I helped you, please press the thanks button

Well I think its obvious that I'm new here.
I tried to root the N4, flashed the CWM and I think I deleted everything on the SDCard. The device does not boot into any ROM, well maybe its because of the deleting.
I can't flash any files from the CWM, because there are no files on the SDcard. ADB does not find any devices and I'm desperate...
Please help me, how can I get my N4 working again
Hi PM me please. You need to flash a stock ROM in fastboot. I could do it for you in teamviewer if you want.

You might need to enable USB debugging
Sorted now, if anyone else needs any help with anything like this, I'm always happy to help
Now I'm stuck at the nexus loading screen for 30 minutes. What can I do?
Problem solved. Factory reset via stock recovery: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=51446
