Dead A500 - Acer Iconia A500

I think my A500 is dead. It was a good two+ years of service I suppose.. but disappointed none the less. At first it started out not booting... but I could eventually get it to boot after hitting reset a dozen or so time... now that doesn't work. Moving on... Go the Galaxy Note 8 as a replacement and love it.

if you can get your PC to detect your a500, you could possibly restore it with a stock or custom os

Any tips on how to restore a ROM via PC

Google blackthund3r A500 APX flashtool, you can probably flash a custom bootloader, i would get it from here:

Bricked I/O tab 10.1?

[SOLVED] Okay so I got my i/o tab back up and working. See this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14586131&postcount=2.
1. I downloaded those 2 things.
2. I booted into odin mode by powering off the device and holding the power and the left volume (volume down) until it brings me to a usb and a triangle sign with an android figure.
3. Press Right volume (volume up) to select the right icon on the screen.
4. Plugin the tab to your computer and load the odin3 v1.85 application.
5. Press PDA and find the PDA_SIGNED_P7105.tar.md5 file
6. Click start and let it reboot and it should be fixed! (well that's what fixed it for me)
So I tried installing the starburst rom on my i/o tab that I won (from phandroid!), anyways I was on an unlocked 3.1 rom that was rooted. So I installed rom manager from the market to get cwm on it. After that I backed up my current rom, and then I flashed the starburst rom.
After the rom finished flashing it rebooted and is now stuck in a bootloop of continually showing the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 splash screen.
I can't get back into cwm at all. I've tried getting it back with odin and with nvflash. Also fastboot isn't working for me (says waiting for devices both on my windows and linux machine). I've tried flashing both stock recovery and cwm via odin and via nvflash but nothing is working.
I'm not really sure where to go from here. I've spent the last 5 hours or so on xda and google. Any help would be appreciated.
The first attached files shows what happens when I select the USB image, the second shows what I get when I hold down the power and down volume, and the third is me flashing cwm through odin, but after flashing it, I still can't get into cwm.
I'm not an expert, but you may want to check the file you are trying to flash as it may be corrupt. Maybe try redownloading and flashing with odin. If that does not work you may need to reflash your firmware, I think there is instructions in the dev form on where to download. Also check if the IO edition is different model from the retail WIFI version.
Hopefully this is helpful,if not I'm sure someone else will chime in.
I checked the md5 of it and it matched. How would I reflash with odin? All I can see that I can flash with odin is the recovery. I don't know how to flash anything on my tab in it's current state. I can't get cwm back, and all I get is fastboot usb mode and odin. Fastboot isn't working and odin says it flashes the cwm recovery correctly and everything, but then it's not there.
Thanks for your input, any input is greatly appreciated. Was hoping to get my tab updated to a touchwiz rom, now I can't even use it.
I had same problem happen with mine out of the blue and it's stock I/O.
Maybe the thing i'm flashing in odin isn't for the I/O tab?

Did you fix it? I had this happen once before but I forget how I was able to get fastboot to work to issue a fastboot -w command.
Okay, so I think I made some progress. I was able to get fastboot working on a fresh computer that never had adb, fastboot, or the android sdk installed. I only have fastboot working on it and not adb. :\
So I tried fastboot flash system stockrom.zip but when rebooting it just shows the
splash screen. (I waited like 10mins). I now do have fastboot working so now what should I do?

which stock rom are you using? are you using the OTA 3.1 that is in the dev thread?
try that and lemme know what happens
also, if you can get into fastboot, you can fastboot recovery, ie get back into CWM and load a backup

I think maybe my partition table is effed up? I'm not sure.
I tried fastboot and flashing the backup that I had on my computer (fastboot flash system system.img ; fastboot flash data data.img ; etc), but it just hangs at the samsung galaxy tab splash logo.
I'm using the ota that comes in the files for dummies in the dev forum.

Simply doing fastboot -w has never worked for me. It would just bootloop. Only way i've been able to restore it is through the steps I listed in this thread.

[Q] Bricked?????

Can someone please help or toss me some suggestions on how to unbrick my tablet without sending to acer if possible this is whats goin on. It was rooted and running fine with CWM 1.7.3 from thor then the other day i turn it on and bootloop at bootanimation. i then enter recover to wipe and flash as usual but when i goto wipe it says error removing /data/data/com.android........... I heard my data partition was corrupted and proceeded with trying to really format that to no avail fearing my tablet was bricked i followed another thread titled how to unbrick your tablet!!!! it installed OTA ICS and wiped my recovery :crying: so now i have stock recovery and bootloop and the pc still recognizes the tablet in fastboot and APX mode but when i try to format /data in fastboot it says bootloader locked :crying: and when in apx mode when i try to use nvflash it says error during usb write then it says usb device not connected until i restart apx mode fresh. in the stock recovery it will flash OTA packages and finish install but still stuck in bootloop otherwise i just get the dead android guy with a red exclamation point. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried installing the patched bootloader? Remember, you have to have your SBK number you got from your UID. I found that NVFlashing using one of the earlier releases works best for me.
Also remember what OTA update.zip you are installing. Some of them, are just update patch files, which require a specific OS to be installed.
Did you try this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699277
Basically, you decrypt the 2 update files, extract the contents of one on to your SD card. Try booting to stock recovery and see if it installs and boots.
If that doesn't work, then do the same with the other update file.
The 50x is basically bullet proof. There is always a method, and sometimes, it's finding the method that works is the hardest.
MD
I did finally get it. I let it bootloop hooked it up to my pc and used adb while it was bootlooping to get my cpuid and sbk since i had neither of those i couldnt do jack with nvflash. After i got those went back in apx mode flashed bootloader and cwm again followed thors instructions on how to really format data partition and installed rom like normal. Worked like a champ, but without cpuid and sbk i woulda never fixed it

Download the last file (a good place to start). Rename it to just update.zip (I added build numbers to keep them separate). Copy it to your Ext Sd Card.
Boot tablet holding Vol+ then PWR till you see it start to install.
If that one doesn't work, then try the next one with the same procedure. Hopefully one of them may work.

Sorry found no fix it's been a while just about ready to give up. hope you have better luck.
I had the same issue, I ended up just replacing the board. I punished a new one off ebay for $50.00. The swap out was easy. The hard part was getting the door to the mircoSD card to line back up right.

LG G2 F320L stuck in Boot Loop not going in download mode

hi guys,
i flashed recovery using the manual method from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468858.
I wasn't able to use the last command
Code:
rm /sdcard/g2_security
I thought it didn't work , i also updated the my phone software.
When my phone restarted it went to cwm and now its stuck there.
Now when I try to boot I can either get in CWM or some Korean Recovery Menu with three option (i tried all nothing happend) or just stuck in boot loop!
I can't get in download mode by pressing vol up and plugging usb cable (tried all possible methods)
I will be glad if someone can help me out.
Thanks in advance
That's an unexpected situation to say the least.
So in short: installation of recovery worked, but you lost access to your ROM.
Correct?
Now, if you had a flashable ROM on your sd card you would be sorted, no?
I would say, get any compatible ROM, put them on a micro sd card and plug them into your phone. Flash through cwm...
Am I misunderstanding?
Otherwise there is always the fully back to stock option:

Stuck in Clockworkmod Recovery

Hi, I've tried to install Android 4.1.2 on my LG E610 L5. The rom I chose was 20d + root + cwm. It worked just fine, but I've accidentally let it update itself, not knowing you should do that on rooted devices. Not whenever I turn on the phone it shows me cwm recovery menu. Rebooting doesn't work and I can't get into stock recovery mode. I've tried hard reset, clearing cash and data, flashing another rom, nothing works. Is there anything I can do other than giving it to service and paying for getting it fixed? Cwm version is 6.0.2.8, I can link to specific download link if that made a difference.

I'd try that, but KDZ won't detect my phone. I can't boot up the system and there's no download mode in cwm. Is there any way to flash stock recovery using cwm?
I basically need anything that would make my phone show up and be detected by kdz. May be rom or different recovery.

okay first of all you need to go to google and find the right driver for your phone
next take the battery out of your phone and then plug it in to your computer while holding the volume up buttons
next go to your computers drivers via ( Start->right click on computer and go to properties->then go to hardware then drivers-> look for something called modem and if your phone is under it then disable it)
next open the KDZ updtaer
install that mx thing
then open KDZ updater set it to 3GQCT and EMERGENCY
then select your KDZ updater
launch update
it may say errors but let it finish.
Phone's display shows LG logo. Left for an hour, nothing happened. If I try to do KDZ update, it says "PHONE WAS NOT FOUND! "

So if You have CWM, turn your phone off, take your Memory card, put it in adapter microSD -> SD , put it in card reader, copy to your card some working ROM you like,, then put Your card again in phone, place battery in,
Then Turn on Your phone , and make it to CWM boot, then do as is:
Start CWM recovery
Wipe data / factory reset
Wipe Cache
Advanced / wipe Dalvik cache / yes
Mounts and storage
Mount system
format / system
install zip from sdcard
choose zip from sdcard external
Select soft from memory card
Yes
Then reboot Your phone and It should works fine.
seem you got cwm bootloop, try using fast boot to flash stock recovery

How can I get into fastboot mode? None of the "press volume button and power for 30 seconds" methods work. @edit From what I've read, LG L5 doesn't have fastboot. Damn it.
Did you tried to remove the battery and enter emergency mode ?

OK, so that's really interesting. I've connected the phone to the PC, uninstalled drivers and let Windows Update install it's own. Doing so, instead of being stuck on LG logo, I was now in fastboot mode, despite being said LG L5 doesn't have fastboot. Anyways, I've flashed stock recovery.img I've found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37363473&postcount=1023. Using Vol- and power button I put it in download mode and managed to install clean soft from official LG website with KDZ. I'm not really sure how it worked, but it did.

Ok every one iv posted a simulare problem a month ago, when you use kdz, and it flashes stock, if after the flashing it stays in a boot loop all you need to do is leave the phone on boot with the lg logo for 10 mins.
After that unplug your phone, put the battery back in.
Now all you need to do is a factory reset, press and hold Vol down + menu, press power after the phone vibritas let go of the power button and keep holdind Vol down + menu for 10 seconds.
The phone will factory reset and boot up normaly.
This works on all versions of L3/L5/L7

I had no idea what I was doing back then, so I haven't tried a simple solution, but you can try flashing a ROM. The fact you boot straight into recovery is a sign of no/corrupt system, so flashing a different one may fix it. Pick one from Original Development and follow the instructions.
