Hi guys,
at the worst time, while beeing on vacation my display broke.
First I had blue dotts all over my screen after a little drop but the screen revived and blue dotts where gone.
After a week or so the cracks in my touchscreen I had already for ages got bigger and a few weeks later the display didn't fire up anymore.
System boots, buttons light up and the display gets a dim white light while booting. Only once for a very short time I got it working with USB attached (only battery loading sign).
I tried replacing the touch screen but no luck so far.
Questions:
1) Any ideas that help me to revive the LCD?
2) Is it worth it trying to replace the LCD? > (Already bought a replacement Moto Defy phone)
I test this, Worked perfectly.
1.- Remove SIM card, SD card and battery, Put the back cover back on the phone and place the phone in a ziplock bag.
2.- Obviously, seal it, then wrap the back around the phone, and put some masking tape around it, just to keep the bag smaller.
3.- Put in freezer for 24 Hr.

Ok, some history first...
I bought my Herald 1 year ago, and after 3 months of proud ownership i dropped it into the toilet. (was just changing to my swimsuit in case you are wondering)...
After that underwater experience, the only kink was that the End button stopped functioning.
Fast forward to the present day. After opening my phone with the help of the service manual i found out that the fault was with the flex cable (the cable that has the keypad buttons, and connects the screen to the phone board)
So i hopped on Ebay and ordered a new cable, along with a new housing as my old one was full of dents, and had the parts delivered today.
I opened my happy ol' Herald, removed the screen protector (this is an important bit, just stay with me) and changed the cable and housing, hoping to transform it to almost-new condition.
After doing the transplant, and hoping that everything went fine, i closed everything and booted the phone up.
The End key functionality was restored, but the Touch Screen STOPPED WORKING!!!. It was registering some very strange positions and as i lifted the pen the cursor was yanking to the right, so i tried the first obvious thing of Align Screen. Since that wasn't registering ANY positions, i reopened the phone, reseated all the cables and still nothing was happening.....
I was at the brim of despair, after 5 hours of screwing, testing, unscrewing etc... and was leaving work... and just as i was packing everything up i picked up the old dirty and worn Screen Protector and tacked it on the screen (and since it was on my office the whole time it got very very dirty).
And lo and behold, everything worked with the screen protector on!!!
So this is the story....
Now, i have a couple of questions:
1) Anyone has a logical explanation about this??
2) I'm afraid to remove the screen protector in case i lose the touch screen again, so now i have a brand-new looking phone with a screen that looks like it was run over. What do you think will happen if i remove it?? (maybe open a poll on this)
3) I also yanked the keyboard (after discovering that its held with Glue on the casing). Now i have it tucked in place but it's not glued. Anyone now what glue is safe to use to make it stick in place ??
resently my phone happened to be found in a little container filled with beer loong story on how it happened but it did,,,,
after taking phone appart, cleaning, reassembling.... it works
with exseption of screen we get a lil problem here:
- screen doesnt turn on at all
- if tap phone on one side the screen flickers white or shows the today screen (dialer or program folder if it is open ) for a split moment
i think i need to replace the LCD Screen... or can it be something else?
my question is where can i buy one?
thanks
PS: the only other option is saving for xperia
most likely
It is probably the flex cable that runs from the mother board to the lcd, fairly easy to replace.
you can get them off of eBay cheap.
you might want to take it apart again first and re-clean with a tooth brush and some alcohol (rubbing not beer), be sure and disconnect the flex from the lcd and be sure to allow all parts to dry before reassembling.
Hey all, i recently inherited a Nexus 7 (ME370T) that ive made a personal mission to fix! Let me give it some background..
Nexus 7 been left in the cupboard for 6 months after a smashed screen.
I rcv said Nexus as person thinks it dead and has given up with it.
I decided to replace the screen so ordered one from ebay
Dismantled the nexus 7 failry easily, removed the lcd from the frame, cleaned the frame up and removed most of the adhesive then applied some double sided tape and placed the screen back onto the bezel.
Carefully resat the display on the motherboard with frame. All screws back in and and cables attached (double checked connections just to be safe).
Went to boot but as battery has been left to die it took around half an hour to give it some life (actually took 8 hours to fully charge)
Loaded up ok, albiet it took quite some time to boot past the X screen.
Booted up but then touch seriously slow and lagging, a good 30 seconds behind. Tried all kinds of possible fixes from the tie wrap to reseating the digitiser cable to soft reset and still not working.
So i bit the bullet and decided to reset to factory settings....
But NO, bloody thing still refuses to have a working touch screen!!
Running out of options now but im willing to try anything... has anyone got any advice or is it time to concede defeat and give this thing a running kick?!
Hi guys on Monday my Moto X Style fell into a bucket of water ( I was ill) I promptly snatched it back out removed the case (Supcase Unicorn beatle). At first it was on and working fine and I wiped and shock the very small amount of water on it off. Then about 5 to ten minutes later the screen started to flicker, I turned it off and put it in a sealed bag of rice for 5 days. Upon taking it out on the 5th day the backlight isnt working at all. I've used light at an angle to test the screen and everything works fine, touch responds, no outlines etc, only the backlight. My question is, is there anyway of fixing this short of replacing the entire screen? I've heard people suggest cleaning the cables with 90% alcohol, is this a viable solution? I'm willing to try any feasable method before I get a new screen. Thanks in advance.
Well, you have to take it apart to clean cables and to replace the screen. So if you don't need the phone (you have a backup) I would take it apart and clean cables and see if that works. If it doesn't, leave it in pieces and order the screen and replace it when it gets to you.

Hi all,
last week we had a really heavy rain and I was outside. As a precaution I put my phone out of my front pocket into my backpack only to realize that the backpack was filled with water when I came home.
The phone was swimming in water but still on and working but I had no equipment to open up the phone (damn T3) so I had to leave it powered on and put it in rice over night.
The next day when I tried to boot the phone the screen stayed off and you could see the liquid between the lcd and the digitizer.
I went to a local repair shop and they opened up the phone. I let it dry for some more days but the problem with the display remains.
I washed out the mainboards with iso and cleaned all corrosion I could see with a toothbrush but after replacing the screen it looks like the issue remains.
The phone makes sounds like it is working and giving notifications but the screen is just dead.
Do you have another Idead what I could do or do I need a new phone?
Thanks

I am in the exact same boat (almost literally)
I dropped mine into the toilet (how cliche) and it also worked for a few minutes, then eventually the screen went black. I see nobody responded to you here, may I ask what have you ended up doing with it? Replace screen? Get a new phone?
