I have asked the mods to move your post to the nexus 4 section. Maybe some members over there would have faced this issue. :good:
Have you followed the ROM's instructions properly? Did you do a dirty flash? Have you tried a factory reset?

i wiped everything. factory, cache, then dalvik cache, then flash rom, gapps. tried the alternate path by flashing rom, reboot, gapps. still the same issue. then i tried the pac_mako-milestone.1.RC1 version instead, same problem occurred.

Try re-downloading the file, that has caused system corruptions like this for me. Has the dev posted this as a bug?

CM10 Issue

Alright well i can't post in the Android Development section yet but need to get this problem solved.
I flash CM10 and keep getting an error that the Android Keyboard (ASOP) has stopped working.
I cannot get the keyboard to pop up at all, I've tried to reinstall CM10 and factory resets. Nothing is helping it and I can't find anywhere to solve this problem.

You can try this:
-Reboot in recovery
-Make a full wipe (cache, data, partition, advanced/dalvik-cache)
-Install CM10 Rom and GApps
-Make all wipes again
-Reboot
This maybe works. I hope it helps you
I had the same issue, was suggested NOT to use 4.2 gapps. So I re-flashed with 4.12 gapps, and it worked.
Hope that helps.

Keyboard doesn't work
So, I'm trying CM 10 on a Nexus 7 (wifi) and as described in the original post in this thread, the AOSP keyboard doesn't work. I tried both the 201212 and 20120725 G apps, neither made the keyboard work. Any other suggestions to fix this? I've wiped the caches, reinstalled, etc., numerous times, with the same result. Resetting the cache for this and the dictionary provider, as suggested at the CM forum didn't work either. I've tried sideloading an alternative keyboard (Swiftkey) but it won't initialize because it can't download its dictionaries which it can't do because it can't connect to wifi, which it can't do because I can't input the &([email protected]#* security key for the wifi . . . I suppose I can keep trying alternative KBs until I find one that works without a wifi connection, but if anyone does have an alternative idea, I'd be grateful.

There might be issues with the rom itself. I would suggest you check in the nexus 7 thread as this is for the samsung gt 2.

[Q] Custom ROM Problem with Keyboard and Home Button

I'm sorry to sound noobish, but every time I flash a ROM on my Nexus 4 (mako) that isn't a Cyanogenmod build (10.2-20130904-NIGHTLY-mako) , my home softkey becomes completely useless and the AOSP or AOKP keyboard constantly crashes. I was told this is a known bug in certain source codes as far as the keyboard is concerned in 4.2.2 builds, but I'm still mystified by the home button issue and as to why I other people can be using the same ROMs that I can't without a problem. Is there a certain version of GAPPS that I can flash to avoid this problem, or is there a known fix? I always wipe data and cache when flashing, so I'm pretty sure this isn't a user error, other than which version of GAPPS I'm flashing (gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip).

The known issue you are talking about is the JSS deadlocks? if yes, then it is not the problem with you.. for you it force closes the keyboard.. are you following the procedure of installing rom properly? are you doing dirty flash (flash without wiping data)? you can find out if gapps is responsible by booting into a freshly installed rom without installing gapps and see if the problem persists..
You should also format the /system partition when you flash a new rom.
For some roms the Home button stop working for me and to fix it I had to install gapps, but most CM based roms I use don't have that issue.
As for keyboard, I always delete the default keyboard from the rom and use Google Keyboard.

Please explain what JSS deadlocks are. I don't dirty flash. I always wipe data. As for the keyboard and home buttons not functioning properly,I have this problem with XenonHD, PACman ROM, AOKP and CM variants.

No your problem is not the jss deadlocks.. it happens when you type very fast or something.. it phone vibrates for like 5-10 sec and then restarts. I dont think its your problem. Sorry mate I have no idea why you are having the keyboard and homescreen issue even when you are are doing a factory reset every time you flash.. and why its not happening with CM 10.2..

Well, that's unfortunate. I've found that the RevoltHD ROM doesn't have problems, but that's because it's got integrated GAPPS.
Been having the same issue with my Nexus 4, after installing GAPPS the keyboard crashes and the home button stops responding. Did anyone figured it out by any chance? Thanks.
I still don't know what caused it, but I figured out that more recent nightly versions of those ROMs don't have that problem. I'm using AOKP currently and that used to be a problem ROM.
Take off vibration and sound and all the bells and whistles and your keyboard should be fine if the issue isn't Rom specific. Also, it could be kernel related.....try boosting touch input if nothing else

I get the same problem, I factory reset each time I switch ROMs. I was trying with Vanir a couple of days ago and couldn't get the home button to work, tried OmniROM and it worked perfectly, went back to Paranoid it worked perfectly again, went back to Vanir and it didn't work. Was odd.

Marshmallow ROMs freeze and crash = Hardware Problem?

Hello everyone!
I have been experiencing a strange issue with almost all the Marshmallow ROMs currently in the development section. The Phone boots, Setup Wizard runs, and in between, the screen freezes/hangs and after 5-10 seconds the phone reboots. Again the setup wizard runs and even if i'm able to complete the wizard, the phone frequently hangs and then reboots.
I had been running Paranoid Android 5.1 ROM before flashing the Marshmallow ROM and this strange issue suddenly started. I have tried to flash stock rom and then flash twrp, then flash the ROM, even wiped everything several times. Still the same issue persists. This is really getting annoying as i have tried 3-4 different ROMs and 2 GApps and still the screen freezes and then phone reboots.
And this happens only on Marshmallow ROMs as i again have currently installed Chroma 5.1.1 ROM and its running smoothly. I am beginning to think of it to be a hardware issue. Can anyone help me solve this?

Flash Frank ROM, Flash Tuxi Gapps from Frank's OP, no one is having any issues now. Also don't forget to do a factory reset if you can even the Internal data.

I have done factory reset several times. Even flashed stock via fastboot multiple times. Done the exact same steps you mentioned. Its not only with Frank ROM actually, i tried another Marshmallow ROM and the same thing happened again.
How is it that Lollipop ROMs are running smooth and Marshmallow ROMs are crashing?

seems like it's Gapps/ ROM problem (with setup wizard)
this my only suggestions:
1. try to flash Frank's M without Gapps > reboot normaly
if this worked, then it's related to Gapps issue...
if it still remains, then
2. Flash ROM, Gapps, wipe, etc.
after that back to home of TWRP > Mount > Mount system > back > Advanced > File manager > go to /system/priv-app
search for folder name related to Setup wizard/ Google setup wizard (NOT GooglePartnerSetup) > delete it > reboot
3. fingercrossed it will bring you to home screen without any problem...
good luck then :fingers-crossed:

Thanks i'll try this out when i get back home. Although i did try flashing just the ROM to see if GApps were causing the issue. Without GApps, the phone booted to the homescreen, but then after 5-10 mins would reboot itself. I don't know may be it has got something to do with temperature? Because i've noticed that the phone becomes very hot when it first boots up on a new ROM(i know its normal for it to get hot). But when i used the phone on a Marshmallow ROM when the phone was NOT hot, it went on pretty well for 20-30 mins and then again rebooted.

Here's another update. I tried the new Chroma Marshmallow ROM and it too had the same issue. The phone hangs/freezes randomly and then reboots. After trying so many ROMs, i think the issue is with hardware itself. None other has reported this issue, nor could i find it anywhere else. I guess i can say that my(and only my) nexus 4 is not compatible with Marshmallow officially and unofficially.
I don't know what kernel Frank's uses but you could always try to flash an alternate kernel. I haven't taken the jump to Marshmallow yet, but it seems TaUrUs and hellsCore support M (I currently use hellsCore with stock L).

I'll try another kernel and ping back.
Probably lacked boot the system before you install GApps.

The FC of Setup Wizard is discussed in the ROM thread of Chroma.
You can try this because it is advised by the Dev of Chroma and supported by many others and I have succeeded with this.
Flash stock L and boot up.
Boot into TWRP (make sure you have the latest) and factory reset.
Flash Chroma 1/11/2015 and Bank's Gapps without boot/reboot in between and no wipe afterwards.
Reboot.

At least for Chroma, that is a wrong approach. No boot between ROM and Gapps flash.
Make sure you have permissions granted to all of the apps. I had similar issues, and had to do with Location and apps making calls to GPS. Would cause a reboot, and not just a force close. Try amending the Location settings as well. All else fails, capture a logcat.
Everyone thanks for your time!
I found the solution. bjb2's suggestion did the trick. I flashed TaUrUs-Mallow Kernel after Frank Marshmallow ROM and everything seems fine now. Have been running Marshmallow since a day without any issues. Still it's curious why the stock kernel gave such errors.
Thanks everyone again for your suggestions and help

Random reboots on every rom after H2OS

Hey guys.
I don´t wanted to create a thread about this but after some troubleshooting without a solution i don´t know what to do.
After i installed (i think it happens after that) kingmercians hydrogen os, i doesn´t matter which rom i use (cm13, cm12, aicp, ......) i got random reboots. I did´nt install any new app, tried it with gapps, without gapps.... Sometimes it happened right after the first boot of a new rom, sometimes while i restored via TB (no system apps!). It´s not reproducible for me.
I don´t want to make it factory fresh but i know this could be the last way.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Yeah.... Every time i switch between roms i wipe everything, cache, data, dalvik and system. And after gapps, i wipe dalvik and cache.
The strange thing is, the roms i used before without any problems (installed for example razor rom which i still had on my internal memory) causes reboots. That never happens before.

Hello, why not posting your question in the related thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5/how-to/official-oxygenos-beta-1-android-oreo-t3710003 and search for answers?
You did not mention which steps you take, sounds for me you coming from ressurection remix and just flash the ob6 rom without wiping etc? But I'm sure you did not, so please give exact steps to reproduce the issue.
And read some pages back in the linked pages thread, it's been discussed partially

Hi, I didn't post on the rom's thread because now it's a "every rom i try" problem. It happends every time i clean flash a new rom (I've tried xXx, OOS stock beta 6, OOS stock stable and crDroid), and I've never got past the langage selection screen.
My steps are:
- Boot to Recovery, currently twrp clockworkx 3.2.1
- Wipe: Data, Dalvik & ART cache, Cache and System
- Install Rom
- Install Gapps (if needed)
- Install magisk (I've tried not to, nothing changes)
- Reboot
I'm really confused, a problem behaveing like this, seems related to the phone it self rather than to the single roms.
What would you suggest?
OT. If you find that this post it's not getting anywhere, I might follow your advice and post on OOS beta thread.

You got it. It's mostly cause of the internal storage you did not format. That's a common problem.
Stuck with 'Just a sec' after Factory reset
Hi All,
I have an One Plus 5 phone. I am getting it exchanged for One plus 6T. The delivery is scheduled today. I did a factory reset and when I reboot - I got stuck with this 'Just a sec' screen after language. It doesn't get past this. I tried ' Recovery boot' and 'Fast boot' Nothing is working. I searched all over internet. I can get the calls but cannot do any other thing. I am stuck with this ' just a sec ' screen for a like one hour now. Please please please help me out.
