Trouble rooting and installing cm 10 nightly - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I followed these instructuons located herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32921666#post32921666 and everything went ok until cm started up. It says setup failed and doesnt begin the google start up. So I went into recovery and reflashed another copy of cm 10 nightly and when flashing it says md5 not found and doesnt install. Can anyone help.

What do you mean you went into recovery and tried to flash another copy? The SD recovery does not flash things. It is just copied to the SD and the script installs it so there is no md5 check. You have me confused.

Installing roms

I have rom manager installed and am trying to install a rom from sdcard I keep gettin error message after it boots into recovery mode can someone tell me what I am doing wrong
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Try giving us a little more details on what the error message says. Otherwise it's hard to determine what exactly you're doing wrong.
We can start with the basics, do you have ClockWorkMod installed?
Yes clockworkmod is installed, the error message e: file signature failed
E:failed to verify
Installation aborted
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Try installing the ROM without using ROM Manager. Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery, then manually choose the zip and flash.
This usually means that clockwork is not installed correctly and that you are not flashing the rom from within clockwork.

I installed it from rom manager and it said it installed right, hold down vol down power and camera to get into recovery mode correct? Then how do I manually choose the zip file?

I rooted my epic w one click and I did a factory restore did that take out my root privs ?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
It definitely sounds as though you haven't properly installed ClockWork -- IT appears you are booting in to the stock recovery, which will not allow you to flash a rom.
Assuming your phone is rooted, you will want to goto this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782300
and download this method of installing clockwork. Follow the directions on the post, and you shouldn't have an issue getting clockwork to run.
I'm just curious....did you rename or move this from inside the phone? I know I moved a couple roms using astro and then tried and no go.....maybe it was just me tho...

Jellybean rom and gapps can't be found on Xoom recovery

Hi everyone, I know this is on some thread around here already but I'm kinda new here so,
I tried to flash team EOS jb rom + gapps on my Xoom and they weren't found ..
A message appeared saying , error mounting SD card or backup/path not found or something.
My xoom is rooted with stock rom ics, 4.0.4 and at first I tried flashing using rom manager , and no success..the n manually ..the same.
I can't backup current rom neither flash a new one.. I read about reflashing cwm , and I kinda got lost in there..
I moved the .zip files into the internal memory of the Xoom and the same...I got into recovery mode manually and I followed the procedure and again...no .zip
Files found not even on the internal memory.. as I said I tried mounting SD card, mount system and nothing...same error appeared..
So , I really appreciate any advice or tip or whatever helpful... thanks in advanced and sorry for asking something that many already know..have a good day !!

Which recovery are you using ?
Can you still access external sd from recovery?
Sent from my MZ601 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, sounds like you're not using CWM recovery.
Follow the steps to install this, and flash via CWM.
I can't access SD card via recovery , it says error: backup path not found.. and error mounting SD card.
But I can access my external SD card using any file explorer , It appears normally .
Idk but , so when I rooted my Xoom I remember have flashed cwm via adb , cause I had to connect my Xoom to the PC and I remember a .zip file called something cwm , and tiamat ....so , should I go again and reflash cwm zip , and if so , which one should I flash again? cause my Xoom is already rooted and unlocked, wouldn't that damage the system?

You won't loose root. You are using the same fast boot commands to unlock your boot loader and install this recovery IMG...
Then this new recovery, flash eos ROM which is per rooted already...

Thanks Dude. As I told you earlier, I received the notification about the update but it was installed and it sent me to recovery mode saying : installation aborted...thanks I'm gonna flash the cwm img..

Need help updating nightly

S3 I9300
Pacman rom's. Nightly
Latest CWM touch
Problem I'm having is every time I try to flash the nightly update, it says update complete then when I reboot the phone goes into a bootloop and have to restore from backup.
Using CWM I have tried installing zip from SD card as well as from the external SD card.
I have wiped cache & dalvik cache after install and even tried wiping before and after zip install. Still get the bootloop.
Even tried installing using Rom Manager and get the same bootloop.
Do I need to change the file name or something? I'm kinda stuck. Any help would be great.
Thanks guys
I don't have a PC so can't flash with that.

I'm sure about your phone, but with mine, I just waited a couple of nights for a new nightly. I'm on nightly from 11/9/13 and its been working OK. With it being a nightly, there's always gonna be problems. So I wouldn't worry so much about that, and just wait for the official. but then again, I'm no expert.

I mean that I get an error trying to flash any different recovery, and the methods I've tried to use fastboot to flash a new recovery (CWM) haven't worked.
I tried to use adb to push an alternate recovery to the correct folders in /boot, but that didn't work either
I really want to flash my cm11 build because I can't stand being stuck on my current sluggish rom.

The problem is that TWRP 2.3. It will not allow you to flash older zips that have old versions of update-binary in them. The solution is to find a newer zip that has the right updater-binary in it. I'll be right back with a link to one.
Edit: try this:

You said you had TWRP on there before. CWM and TWRP backups are not compatible.

Can't install gapps 20130813

I've looked all over but am unable to find an answer to this.
I hadn't used my Nook Color in a while mainly because I was having a recovery bootloop and hadn't had time to research what was going on and correct it. I finally had some time last night and fixed that using leapinlar's excellent thread installing CWM 5.5.0.4 to my sdcard and installing CWM 6.1.0.2 to the alt partition on EMMC.
I decided to update to the latest stable CM, which looks to be 10.2. I downloaded the rom from that thread and the gapps 20130813 package in that thread. I have no issues installing the rom but the gapps package will not install. Every time it gives me the message:
E:Can't open /sdcard/roms/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
I thought maybe the download was bad and tried the PA gapps package for 4.3 but that did the exact same thing. To make sure I covered every single thing, I did the partition repair steps linked from leapinlar's thread. That ran fine. I was able to reinstall the rom but no dice on the gapps.
Anybody got any ideas on what's going wrong?
Thanks,

I forgot to add that I did redownload a few times as well as trying other gapps packages for 4.3 with the same result. It does strike me though that I don't believe I checked the md5 so I'll try that.

Be sure to download directly from the Nook. Sometimes files get corrupted in the transfer from PC.
Sent from my BN NookHD+ using XDA Premium HD app
It appears there's an issue with downloading files directly on the Nook. I noticed every file I've downloaded through it was 0 b. All of them showed successful downloading and didn't have suspect download times so I'm not sure what happened.
