Hi guys,
after upgrading to 4.3 my Nexus 16 GB only shows 5,67 GB of OVERALL storage. I tried a factory reset, several wipes, a complete reinstall, another rom, but suddenly it stays at 5,67 GB and will not let me use even more (tried to get some files onto the device).
Anyone got a clue what the problem is?
Thanks.
I am a new owner of N4. You have to do a factory reset from recovery and everything will be ok. Search...

Follow El Daddy's guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033692&highlight=16gb+show+8gb.
Since you have downloaded the occam-jwr66v image, change line 6 to "fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-mako-makoz20i.img" and change line 8 to "fastboot -w update image-occam-jwr66v.zip"

Hello Community!
I just got the Defy for my mother, and I am currently trying to put Miui on it for my mom. This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161110
I'm currently stuck right now... I was able to flash using RSD lite the nordic 2.2.2 sbf (3.4.2_177,) but whenever I put an SD card into the phone I'm stuck waiting for it to boot.
Please don't say "first boot takes a long time." I went to work and worked 9 hours and left the phone on waiting for it to boot... It didn't boot. I really hope that the first boot isn't supposed to be longer than 9 hours.
Not having an sd card prevents me from downloading any apps from the market (2nd init) or even putting CWM on the phone...
I've tried to ADB push, but whenever I try it, it says "fail" because of "read only."
I then try "adb shell sysrw" and that doesn't work either...
I've tried the T-Mobile SBF and the UK SBF, they both boot, but once the SD card is in. No go.
Can anyone offer any help??
Thank You,
lilhugo
edit: I forgot to mention I've tried 4 different micro sd cards, 1 2gb class 2, 2 8gb class 4, 1 32 gb class 10 and they all read perfectly fine on my Sensation.
By it didn't boot, I mean that it was stuck at the M logo forever.
First suggestion: wipe data and cache using stock recovery.

I've done that. It din't help. =/ I also used the format/factory reset from stock recovery too.
I'm curious if I would be able to any of the Gingerbread sbfs and use that MIUI rom. Anyone know?
it can sill work if you update your bl to version5(GB2.3.4,NOT2.3.6),so you could try to flash GB SBFs.

Okay I'll try that. Thankfully the person I bought this phone from kept it bone-stock... I'll report back if doing that helped.
Help me XDA, you're my only hope...
First, background: I bought my Nexus 4 over the internet, because it was never officially released in Belgium. I had to have the screen replaced, and let a 3rth party do it. Glass damage isn't covered by the warranty and it would mean sending my phone by international mail if i used the official warranty people. They told me that the also had to replace the proximity sensor.
My phone worked perfectly afterwards. Until I tried to install the automatic upgrade to 4.3.
First it stopped at the X-logo screen and became very hot. I contacted play support and did all the things they advised (including a factory reset, rebooting in safe mode), none of it works. I found someone with the same problem who managed to get past the X-screen by flashing back the 4.2.2 radio version. And that worked: the phone booted and the update started.
However, since that moment I got a lot of problems:
- random shutdowns
- random locking of the SIM card
- phone not starting unless plugged in charger.
Worst of all, reflashing stock images for 4.2 and 4.2.2 or AOKP does nothing to solve these problems. I also tried a new SIM card, and still nothing.
I'm at my wit's end now. Could there be a driver issue? Any other things I can try?
TIA
Possibly a driver issue and also reflashing does not help meaning that you need to flash an other kernel.

any suggestions for a good kernel that can run stock android?
If your goal was to upgrade to stock 4.3, you can follow efrant's guide to flash the factory image at at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312&highlight=efrant. Just be sure to download the JWR66V image and use the updated file names when you flash since the file names in this guide are for the Android 4.2 image.

Well, I tried again. (For the 6th time this month) No different as before: it's been stuck on the X screen for 20 minutes now and getting warmer.
EDIT: I finally managed to get into the recovery menu. No idea why it wouldn't let me use volume up + power...
As suggested in the guide I deleted cache and a factory wipe.
My phone is still stuck at the X screen...
any other suggestions, anyone?

Try installing PA 3.97 with this kernel: http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/mako/pa_mako-Kernel-4.3_JWR66V_HALFBREED.zip

I never did that before: do I flash the kernel first or the Rom first? Are there any guides?
EDIT: I just read that Paranoid Android comes with the halfbreed kernel included. Is that the one you linked too?
Before jumping into the kernel thing (also because i wanted to be able to work with a device that can actually boot), I reinstalled the 4.2.2 factory image. It took about 5 minutes for the first shutdown to happen. *sigh*
And without plugging it in, it goes into a boot loop (going to x screen for a while, then restarting.) When I plug it in, it starts immediately, but shows the battery as empty. It was 63% when it shut itself down.
It's a clean install, I just don't understand...
Okay so, I'm assuming you have a custom recovery like TWRP. Open it and flash the newest boot loader and radio. Then flash Paranoid Android and GApps. Then try flashing Faux kernel and clearing cache/dalvik. If you still have problems, then I have no idea

Open up your phone to see the battery is securely checked and to see if all the components are okay. Then look do a full wipe of cache, dalvik, system, data, and sd (internal storage). Then use wugs toolkit to a upgrade on a clean flash. Double check to make sure you wipe everything!

Apparently, my battery had expanded so much that it was pushing at everything in the phone. I ordered a new one and put it in. In 4.2.2 I have no problems anymore with random shut-downs.
However, when I run the OTA upgrade, the phone stays on the X-logo screen. Just like last time. I expect that was why the battery got blown: the first time I ran the OTA, I did it at night and only checked the phone in the morning.
I fixed my N4 by reflashing an older radio (48, IIRC). I have no idea why the newest radio won't work...

Try flashing 4.3 via the factory image. Then use this guide to flash the factory image to the phone.

Tried that before. I did some research and I guess this is relevant: http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...rops-on-some-nexus-4-handsets-fixes-in-sight/ Especially since I ordered my Nexus from the Netherlands.
I'll have to wait until that bug gets fixed until I can upgrade my radio.
hi all,
in an attempt to reinstall stock on the Nexus 4 (16 GB) I followed these directions with the 4.4 rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312
However, I didn't flash the bootloader or radio. When I rebooted the device went into a black screen that hasn't changed for 15 min. The display is still powered on though. What should I do?

Problem solved. I redownloaded the files and it works now.
hello guys !!!!!
I updated the nexus 7 2012 in lollipop but now the memory 16 is 8 gb gb !!!
I did the downgrade but the problem remains.
I followed a guide to take him back to 16 then worked aggiorato still at 5 but is back again to 8gb.
there a solution directly to do with lollipop installed?
Okay, how did you update it? Flashed the factory images or flashed a custom rom or OTA updated it?

at first I did the original or the 4.4 update via ota and presented this problem, the original reported by nrt and always remained at 8 gb ..
I followed a guide explaining how to return it to 16GB via cmd, successful then updated to 5 but always 8 gb.ho riseguito driving the fix but nothing remains to 8gb
If I were you, I would try to flash the latest factory image from here.
Be sure to flash the proper version!!! (2012 or 2013, Wi-Fi or 3G model)
I got mine drop from 16gb to 6gb. A factory reset got it back to 13

Thank you. This worked for me
I restored through nexus toolkit to 4.1 but the problem persists,
follow this guide and work....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417097
My wife's Nexus (which is on cm11) has been working fine for years as as very basic pad with minimal apps (mostly stock and a few games)
She frequently let's it run out of charge despite warnings... and I often have to remove the battery to get to start charging again (which is the only issue really).
It once got stuck in a reboot loop a couple of months ago after recharging, so i went into recovery and wipe the cache partitions and all was fine again...
She let it run out of charge again, so I popped the battery charged it overnight and booted it in the morning, and it got to the lockscreen, froze and rebooted (like the previous time). I tried to enter recovery (TWRP 2.6.0.0) and could'nt - which was a first!
So I reflashed the recovery from fastboot to the latest TWRP (3.02.0) and rebooted into it, except it booted into 2.6.0.0 and not the latest....
I have tried wiping, erasing, formatting, and installing new roms from recovery (both 2.6.0.0 and 3.0.2.0 ~(that I pushed to the device) and fastboot (I tried returning it to stock). The original file system remains intact.... and the reboot loop persists.
I have been able to make a backup to OTG, So I don't care about losing data, I just want to wipe the device and start afresh
It's almost like the filesystem is write protected! nothing seems to destroy it!
Does anyone have any ideas beyond the usual stock recovery and WUG's Nexus 7 Toolkit
One final thing... Holding up whilst booting sometimes gives a black screen and puts the nexus into APX mode (of which I know nothing about!!)
Thanks
Your flash memory has gone bad.... You need a new motherboard... Cost will be roughly $20-$50 on ebay. Fun project that's not too hard, but probably just get a new tablet if it is for someone else....

Sorry for the late reply... and thank you for your suggestions...
I did in fact work out that it was, as psiphi, stated bad memory, and ordered another motherboard from ebay - 32gb for $30 delivered... 16gb was about $ 5 less.
Although the Nexus is an old tab now, I just couldn't see it go to waste!
I've installed Nougat (CM14.1) , formatted data & cache partitions to F2FS, disabled journaling on the system (ext4) partition, installed parrotmod and fstrim on it, and it seems very usable... so I'm going to give it to my dad for browsing and email...
