Finally switched my galaxy note 2 to an HTC One and I'm already chuffed that I did, although the Galaxy Note 2 has its positives I just thought that it felt too cheap and the screen size was starting to annoy me, so I swapped it today for a HTC One and I'm loving it! Perfect for my little fingers and feels like quality! I'm happy to join the forums

Aw, hell, can't we go one week without one of these threads?

How about you go and SEARCH on the internet to read up on the phone. There have been ten times more articles about the Nexus One than the iPhone in the past couple months.
Coming here and asking is an obvious attempt to get a rise out of some of us. While some may be dumb enough to get sucked into your attempt, I'm not.
Good luck... go Google it.

No **** what a jerkoff... anyways... I think its better simply cause everyone and there brother don't have one... main things vs the iphone is iphone shows Gif files/Pics and n1 dont.....
Limited storage for apps as can't save Em to sd card without rooting.... iphones can't expand on memory or can't remove or it can't remove the battery either....
Nexus one has no issues to me.. I think the 3g issue is a load of horse and my video of my tp2 having a 3g issue around this forum proves it.... now dust under the screen is a issue for some thankfully not me...
Its really a great phone, #1 right now imo.
i am seriously considering this phone

I for one completely agree with this guy, asking this question at this point in time is simply idiotic, not to mention he is asking it on a NEXUS ONE forum section. Where more than half of every person here will believe that this (the Nexus One) is more superior. I also agree with the claim you are trying to start some heated discussion among the community with a simple question that can be answered with a Google search, as there have been 100s of Nexus vs iPhone comparisons.
Decide for yourself, you obviously have a brain. I hate things where people ask should they get this or this, cause it is only up to you and only you as to what you want to buy with your money.
i wanted peoples opinions, espiacally if anyone had done the same swap

As I said earlier... go and do a search. Here's a thread at HowardForums:
http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1622278
In addition, I suggest you go to www.google.com and type "iphone 3gs vs nexus one". You could even try searching here at XDA, but for the most part, you'll get more independent reviews somewhere else.
thanks all
PaulRyan52:
I appreciate that you want opinion from switchers from the 3GS to the N1 but do not expect particularly civil dialog on the subject.
First of all (as a search would reveal) the subject has been covered multiple times already:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628681&highlight=3gs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627485&highlight=3gs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=621244&highlight=3gs
To name a few. XDA is less forgiving on repeat topics than some other forums. You registration is old but you only have a few posts so it is not clear how much you actually visit.
Second this is the N1 subforum in XDA. Most of the regulars to this forum will have a strong bias, and even an emotional attachment, to their devices. So you might not be in the best place to ask this kind of question. I am fairly neutral but even I am somewhat weary of the constant iPhone comparisons.
Onto your question of what the weaknesses of the N1 are. Here are the higlights of complaints in general (I have never owned an iPhone, this is just a summation of posts on the forum):
- The market is still growing and the overall app quality is not on par with the iPhone market.
- The iPhone's interface is more intuitive
- The N1's antenna/wireless stack has some problems keeping 3G signal in weak coverage areas.
- The speaker phone quality is utter ****e.
- Exchange support is weak, but improving
- No support for Cisco VPN
And some of these can be debated either way. I am merely summarizing common complaints.
If you research and read you will find the various strong and weak points of the N1. Might I suggest you lock this thread, read the forums throughly, then if you have specific questions on the N1 post them as a stand alone (vs comparison to the iPhone which will be rated as troll bait.)
If you really want to compare the N1 to the 3GS froma N1 users perspective than I would suggest going to the google forums. They are a little more forgiving.... a little.
EDIT: heh, too slow a typist.

thanks for that, i visit regular just haven't posted, how do i lock the thread
Apart from the usefull threads, can the mods wipe this and QnA board completely, it's painfully how much people are moaning about problems. I don't think I've seen a phone been complained about so much
This happens on every launch, should've seen galaxy nexus' launch with people whining about old SoC, crappy camera, pentile display and what not. Don't think they'll wipe the board as they haven't ever done that yet.

Wont really make a difference lol, the noobs would just flood the forum again anyway
i'd just want to delete "a vs b" threads - instead of being objective, they're just filled with blatant and pissy fanboyism.
The other threads will eventually die out but those always stay up on the front page. fanboy fight to the death
Most posters will wait till they actually have the phone to start posting. Once they do, these garbage opinion threads will naturally start drifting to the bottom. It's more under control than it appears. Give it a couple weeks after launch and we will be fine in here.
Yep, just normal transition...
What really bothers me is the low price of this device.
Different type of idiots will buy this phone and decide to root it just out of curiosity.
Then they will bombard "Development Forum" with unbelievably ignorant posts. Developers leave because of this. It happened in Galaxy Note forum and I'm sure it happens with every single forum nowadays.

I think it happens to all phones now days. Keep on mind that millions of devices are activated everyday so its becoming increasingly harder for XDA to enforce all the rules (like search before you post etc etc) and everyone is a volunteer, so you know ? Times are changing I guess we better get used too LOL
But god knows I agree with you, even tho I only signed up like 2 years ago I remember coming here way before that just to read, everyone here was so knowledgeable, and far ahead of my skill level, it just made me refrain from posting and look stupid ! Now ??? 60% of the things I read here are stupid answers to stupid questions that have been answered numerous times before
My first device was the HD2, the forum there was nice and helpful, ROMS where actually good and everything, Getting WP7 activated and messing around with ICS
Moved to the SGS1, pretty much same thing, a lot of new stuff was coming along at my end of the device (Gamerzrom ect)
Moved to SGS2, started off well, then everyday was a new ROM that was basically stock with 'speed mods' and 'improvements made all around' and an ugly skin
Im hoping the N4 will have a somewhat good developer base and not idiots making a themed ROM everyday.
Anyway, this is going to be a painful 6 days till I can order it ):. I will see you lot then
To my beloved companion and friend, whom I (stupid motherf*****) lost during a Limp Bizkit concert. Ironically during the Song 'Break Stuff'. Haha :silly:
I will for sure stay with HTC as this phone really made it into my heart, lol. It ran stable at 2 GHz without sucking out my battery. That was awesome! Now I have to wait till January to buy me a new one, due to budget shortage. Maybe that will be the HTC Two then?^^
Thanks for your awesome ROMs, tips and tricks, and the cool battery and screen and CPU-binning threads.
Rock On, fellow One'ers!
Sincerely dr. L
PS:
When checking out my phone, imagine playing some very emotional music. Not 'break stuff'. Or go with that song. It's kinda fitting the purpose

It's probably with another Limp Bizkit fan who will be saying "Dude can I sell this and get the new iFon?"
But yeah, tough luck man.
HTC One, hope you enjoy your new owner.

traded out of interest really, i didnt dislike the htc one, i just like changing my phones... a lot... lol, always wanted to try an S4 and what a mistake that was....
1. The screen while nice indoors, put it anywhere near sunlight and forget it
2. Touchwiz lag and bloat, the amount of crap and novelty software on there is crazy
3. The plastic back really does feel cheap after owning a One
4. Just doesnt seem as smooth or responsive as the One at all, even with the GPe rom
5. For me the battery was nowhere near as good as my One`s, when i put the one as a GPe that battery was excellent
6. The external speaker.... this had never been an issue or me before as i didnt care, but after having "Boomsound" the difference is mahooooosive
the only positive for me was the camera, the One camera really is unpredictable, good shots 1 min and poor fuzzy the next where as the 13mp shooter on the S4 provided great crisp shots all the time, thats the only thing i wish htc had done,
I`ve just been left really underwhelmed by the S4, and im now selling it on eBay after 2 days of usage to return to the One
Just thought id throw this out there for people considering trading

So long people,
I've upgrade myself to a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, my gf had a Lenovo A7000 phone and was in need for a new phone, I was happy with OnePlus One(running CarbonROM - android 8.1) but opportunity occur so I'll get an upgrade and she'll get a WAY better phone, so I moved on after 4 years(3 years and 350 days to be accurate ) of great service.
You won't see me a lot after this message unless someone replies or I'm super bored . I rarely would play with roms as I don't want to mess my gf's phone from now on
P.S. To the people thinking of upgrading well, stock Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S while having SD845 feels snappier but only in specific situations ...of course after custom roms I expect this to change. Unless you look for some extra things like back camera which is a lot better especially with low lighting, battery life which is better, not day/night but better. You can still have your OnePlus One, no need to replace unless you are a heavy gamer or want better pictures or a more futureproof device(I did it to help gf and have a futureproof device as OnePlus One probably won't get Android P or any future android as it's x64 only rom AFAIK ...although some might find a work-around, who knows)
i will also retire my OPO soon. currently i'm leaning towards the xiaomi mi a2.
