REQ : Stock 4.3 build.prop - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Would someone be kind enough to send me his stock 4.3 build.prop for Nexus4 because I have modified it without backup (hey I know that's not smart... ) and I cannot use the OTA for JWR66Y because build.prop file does not pass the binary verification.
Thanks !

Just to remind, remember to delete the TXT extension when you put it back in because if i dont add an extention I cant upload it. I extracted it from Cataclysm, don't worry, it doesnt matter. Its still a JWR based build.prop.

Make sure it doesn't have any names of custom roms or anything like that.

Thanks a lot !
But I can see your are already in JWR66Y. I am not sure this will work for the OTA...
I think it would be better to have a JWR66V version don't you think ?

AFAIK, it doesnt have and even if it does it doesnt affect the ROM.
Because any names in the build.prop is just stated in the About in the phone. I trolled my classmates for having Beta android 4.4

Well, it worked for the build.prop verification, but i have some errors ...
It passed the patching of system files but I have an error set_perm : some changes failed.Installation aborted.
The phone rebooted properly.
So now I don't know what version i'm in with the modified build.prop !
Do you know how to check my version other than checking the build.prop file ?

Finally I'v been able to update with this fix :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44940220&postcount=556
Status 7 error was due to my root.
Thanks.

Yeah this didn't work for me. I verified that the build.prop matches what you linked, but I'm still getting the build.prop error. So had any of you also flashed different radios or the LTE enabler zip that floats around the All LTE Discussion board? I just don't understand why I'm still getting that error if it worked for you.

I'm not using any LTE. My radio is the pure 4.3 radio.
It could be that the build.prop you used is edited by computer. (one that might effect)

You can't just rezip you need to resign the rom. Their a re a few ways to do this. Easiest is using the kitchen.
Did you resign everything you changed?

[MOD] UK Bluetooth keyboard on US firmware

Well it seems yoshitweaky has solved the problem it has worked on his Xoom and mine so it seems we have a working solution.
This is the instructions from their post on page 3 please find the post and thank yoshitweaky if you are using this method.
Ok I got everything working needed a bit of a mod to the original keylayout for the keyboard as I had to add some more keymaps back in to support all the keys.
so you are welcome to test, please backup your files first!
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU BREAKING ANYTHING, THIS IS YOUR CHOICE. Backup your files and it'll be fine, better still do a nand, its probably time anyway
You'll need root access to try this
the installation it's really simple:
1. With a root explorer, go into /system/usr/keychars
2. Make a backup copy of the file Generic.kcm
3. copy the new Generic.kcm.txt into the mentioned directory
4. Rename Generic.kcm.txt into Generic.kcm
5. Fix permission read / all, write / proprietary, exec / none.
6. go into /system/usr/keylayout
7. Make a backup copy of Vendor_22b8_Product_093d.kl
8. copy in the new Vendor_22b8_Product_093d.kl.txt
9. Rename Vendor_22b8_Product_093d.kl.txt to Vendor_22b8_Product_093d.kl
10. Fix permission read / all, write / proprietary, exec / none. (1st column = 3, 2nd = top 1 ticked , 3rd = none ticked)
rember
Generic.kcm goes in system/user/keychars
Vendor_22b8_Product_093d.kl goes in system/user/keylayout

AFAIK the UK moto stock image (3.0.1) doesnt have the UK layout in it... that was suppose to be fixed in moto's 3.1 image... so i imagine it might be worth waiting to grab some files from that?
I am massively interested in getting this working on my US 3.2 image though

You can use Titanium Backup to back up all your apps and system data. If you hold on for 5 minutes I can get you a stock 4.1.2 build.prop.

[Q] NfcNci.apk nfc.odex deleted. Cant get NFC to work!

While attempting to install one of the modded NfcNci.apk files i deleted my originals and can't seem to find downloads for them. I installed new ones from another place on Xda but im unsure if they were correct for my device and now i cannot seem to get NFC to turn on at all. I may just be installing them incorrectly, or i have the wrong files. I have no idea.
thanks in advance for any help!

If you use FX File Explorer and the root add on it will set the permissions for you on your apps. Other files like initd files and such need the permissions manually elevated but for apps like these it's automatic. Don't forget to reboot after copying the files over.

Sounds like you did the right thing. The permissions should be like the screenshot. If it's not working maybe other filed are missing, hard to say.

so i think i figured out part of the problem. I didnt use the stock rom to pull them from, it was the syndicate rom ( i apparently dont know how to read when i click things). I have the G900VVRU1ANHA_G900VVZW1ANHA_VZW.zip which contains a .tar.md5 inside. Without flashing this, using odin, to my S5 how can i access the system files to pull the apk and odex? i tried one of the guides in a thread to open the tar.md5 as a .img.ext4 and then mounting the image using DiskInternals Linux Reader but it could not get the file to open after mounting it. Now im REALLY lost as to what i should do, and im just fingers crossed that replacing those 2 files is going to enable my NFC again. (im assuming so since its all that i touched, but my knowledge in this department is limited)
thanks again for all the help, i usually just search for days for answers but with this im coming up blank!
Okay, so i downloaded the /apps/ zip from this thread and copied them from my pc to my phone. Using ES File Explorer i moved them to the /system/app/ folder. They originally had rwx rwx r permissions after the move, i changed that to rw r r and rebooted. Post reboot, attempted to enable nfc through the quick menu to no avail, going into the setting and turning it on the slider turns to green but the NFC icon does not show in the notification panel, I cant scan any NFC tags, and after exiting settings and going back into them the NFC setting has reset itself to off every time. I am now at a complete loss of what to try next.
just a ps: when running syndicate rom in slot 1 (safestrap) i was able to get NFC turned on and working just fine.
lol were you on rom slot this whole time? rom slots do have issues at times such as nfc not working..
glad my rom works for you though!

Solve "NFC Service has stopped"

Hi guys,
I've a problem, I accidentally flashed a mod for NFC that isn't for the LG G2, now my phone is unusable because continually appears a popup that say "NFC Service has stopped"...
There is a way to correct this problem? Unfortunatelly I haven't done a backup before flashing the mod
I hope someone can help me, I've also thinked to reuse the flashed zip inserting in it the correct nfc.apk, could it work?
Sorry for my poor english

Well what is the mod? if it's just an apk it's easily fixable, if it's a framework mod you might have to reinstall your firmware.

Upon observation it does seem like a simple apk located in System/app. Just replace it with a current one for your device. I would give you mine but I'm on aosp. I'm assuming you're on stock, right?

Well you either ask it from somebody, get it from an unpacked .tot or .kdz file (stock factory images), or renistall your firmware. Hard-reset won't work, as this wipes /data/, but not /system/, where the apk is located, therefore it won't be replaced with a factory one as far as I know.

The zips from the nexus threads contain a nfc.apk
can I open a new thread on the forum to ask if someone can send me this apk?
There's some rule on the forum about this?
I've now a KDZ file, but I'm trying to extract the content using "LG firmware extract" but the content is only this:
D80220b00.dz
LGUP8974.dll
I've tried to extract also the dz file, but the process seems to remain blocked...
Any suggestion?
EDIT: Solved, I've just deleted the Nfc.apk actually in /system/app and now everything is ok
