So I am using Android 4.3(Build JSS15J) rooted with CM 10.2 8/23/2013 Nightly and after updating the Calender app through the play store I now have two. They have different package names(com.google.android.calendar and com.android.calendar). They both show up in Nova Launcher's app drawer and the stock launcher's app drawer. Inside, both apps look identical. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the update from Google play and it did not fix it. Should I uninstall the system one because it's not getting updates from Google play?
Also:
com.android.calendar - Was the original one that probably came with gapps
com.google.android.calendar - The update from the Play Store

I'm not much of a user of the calender app, but both is actually the same.
So just uninstall the one from System.
No point having two that does the same thing, but do check if they sync with google if you previously does that.
i just deleted one from /system/app

For some reason after flashing to Gingerbread, apps in my Market list show up as installed just fine... But if there's an update for an app, it won't say update available. I had to manually search for Adobe Flash 10.3 to show it have an update, same with Google Books. I did notice however that the flash reverted Flash to 10.1 and also added Google Books as a uninstallable app. Could that be why?
Yup I am, flashed GB this morning and when I try to download from the market all I get is a download bar that is not going anywhere.. beginning to regret this!
anyone know of a fix?
Mike
This is kind of an interesting issue and I have had it as well. I've been able to make it work by leaving the market while it downloads
Ok I fixed it. Clear your Google Framework cache in your "All Apps" in the app manager! This completely resets and resyncs the Market to your Phone - you will even notice that in your pc market site will refresh your device activated date as well.
This fixed ALL my issues about seeings updates, as well as downloading. Also its best to clear your Market cache BEFORE cleaing the Google Framework cache. DO NOT uninstall Market Updates as there is no need.
This is a clean Nexus 7 first gen. It is unlocked and rooted.
The Google Play Magazine used to work well under 4.3. Then the Play Newsstand came out and I believe it worked too. With Android 4.4, the Play Magazine tried to update itself several times. But the program was very buggy. I had to manually uninstalled the Play Newsstand down to Play Magazine.
Then finally the upgrade program blew up. It took the Play Magazine app with it and replaced with an Android icon. The Play Magazine app is gone.
I tried to re-install Play Newsstand from Google Store and it failed. I got "110" unknown error (unknown error code during application install: -110). Tried to manually install the Play Magazine 1.0 and 2.0 apks, both failed. Tried again the Play Newsstand 3.0 apk and it says "app not installed".
Tried to use WugFresh Nexus toolkit to install the apk, still not working.
What is wrong with this?
It is not that I really need this app, but I just wonder what is going and what is wrong, and how to fix it.
Thx.
I think u have removed some part of the framework with the app hence the android icon. Cos when i remove app ot just goes away. U might need to flash ur rom again. Just reflash no need to wipe any thing and it should replace every thin back to normal.
Please ignore my spelling mistakes. English is not my native language.
Restored the 4.4.2 factory image and restore all data. It works fine now. Do not know what happened. It appears a lot of people have 110 problems installing some apps....
The title says it all.
I want pure nexus 7.0 and the google dialer and messaging app from google to be the ones instead of the AOSP ones.
How can I remove the stock ones and keep the google ones instead.
Yes i can always download them from play store but i don't wanna keep multiple apps in my phone.
Any suggestions how to do it?
You can download the .apk's from apkmirror.
Or use the search function, because there are tons of releases in the themes and apps section about customizing to a Pixel phone, including enabling assistant, bootanimation, systemUI and so on
You said it yourself, you can download them from playstore, or apkmirror. And you can delete aosp ones with simple root explorer, or any app such as titanium backup
You'll need root and Titanium Backup or similar to remove the apps.
Be sure to have the APKs on your phone already before doing this.
It's best to buy the Pro version of TiBu and freeze the apps, so that if you ever have to factory reset on the go (and don't have access to a machine with fastboot), then you can still do it because it will unfreeze them for you.
Anybody else's Google app and play store app crashing? I'm on Weta Rom and this happened on 5.0.7 and 5.1 #2. Funny thing is, I can get to the playstore through substratum with no problem and can search Google with voice search. The crashing happens after a few weeks of installing the Rom. What could be going on?
Forgot to mention, yes I cleared data and cache for both apps.
Would recommend re-installing all GAPPS using openGAPPS in TWRP. Use their uninstaller to remove all Google Apps, and flash the latest package from their site. Sounds like you have version inconsistencies.
Alternatively, check apkmirror.com for the latest versions of your Google APPs & their APKs. Different people get put on different versions at different times, but I always update my Google apps using APKs manually. You want the arm64/nodpi versions of each app where possible.

Thanks. I'll try that.
Hello on my OP5 after the latest update (OxygenOS 5.1.4) the Play Store installed apps list is empty. This renders the auto-update function unusable. When I look for an app and update and/or install it that particular app is shown but anything else is still missing.
I have TWRP and root with magisk.
I have tried rebooting, clearing caches, reverting to factory and updating "google play services" and some other suggestions I have found online. Nothing has worked so far.

Have you deleted your Google account off your device and set it up again? Is your playstore certified?

Yes I removed all google accounts, cleared data and cache, rebooted the phone, and reconfigured google account.
This had no effect. I am almost sure that playstore is original.
You can try with Titanium Backup Pro, it has an option to fix broken Market links.
