Note 8 N5100 Downgrading 4.2.2 to 4.1.2 - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) General

I Downgraded My 5100 from Stock 4.2.2 (OXA/DBT) Germany Back to 4.1.2 Stock (INU) INDIA. Which is perfectly being detected by Kies.
I stuck with 4.2.2 for about 9 days, but we couldn't reach a compromise.
So here are some of findings and (some info for new users like me on how to do that)
Findings:
1:S-pen accuracy is back bringing a big smile on my face.
2: Battery Drain: All is can say is just picked up the note after 2 hours idling and battery was down by merely 2% (this is with Wifi on and cell radio all the time, as well as news widget and things running. I am pretty certain with juice defender kinda app id be able to get it down bit further as compared to 4.2.2 eating much more like 2%/H or more just idling. It also seems to be better while using the note.
*************************************************************************************************************************************
Downgrading if you updated to OXA/DBT ROM and you are not from Germany or other supported Open europe Region.
*************************************************************************************************************************************
1. Get a Copy of the 4.1.2 Stock Rom for your device and country **Important Double check that you have the correct file.
2. *** BackUp your SD Card Data however way you can (if unrooted like me), I Lost some of my sketchbook pro stuff and some other because they don't store those in default locations and the HELIUM backup app did not back up those tif files.
3. Once you sure you ready, wipe the factory /data from settings or booting into recovery (might be necessary , but i did this nevertheless)
4. if you wiped the data, then start note and make sure USB debugging in enabled in developer options (enable them by the 7 tap method on the build label in about).
5.power off the tablet and boot into ODIN download mode (You should already know this, but anyways, Hold Power, Vol Down and Home button until android options appear , then hit up on volume to agree,
6. Launch Odin (3.07 or similar) on PC (as administrator) and then plug in the USB Cable
7. Some com port name should appear first box on top in some color (mine is com:6)
8: Make sure reboot and Reset f.time options are the ones only checked.
9: Click PDA button to load the .tar.md5 file you downloaded (You need to extract these from the Zip file you loaded (zip should have a tar.md5 file and another dll file)).
10. Wait for Odin it to verify the file.
11. Once Odin has Verified the File, you can hit the start button to start flashing. and once it completes (take few minutes) Reboot. the Note
12. If you seem to be stuck at samsung logo animation after reboot, don't panic (cause i did already), hold the power button until the device turns off, then boot it into recovery mode (hold home, volume up and power button and release once you see android logo)
13. use volume to select wipe / data factory reset and hit power button to confirm , confirm again. and it should say erasing and be ready for you in a minute or so. (btw Do not panic if it says applying Multi-CSC (DBT) instead of your region one)
14. Boot into the tablet and set up your settings config etc and you should now be running 4.1.2 again and it should have also changed the CSC which can be checked by dialing #*1234# and later you can check it kies as well.
Hope it helps others new to note 8 downgrading, if need ever be.

i read your topic after i downgrading my note because of the battery in 4.2.2 is very bad and the s-pen accuracy was incredible i hope sam will make the 4.3 more good

I am at 15h 20m 39s battery and still have a 58% Charge with 4.2.2
That's about the same if not better than 4.1.2 gave me. with Wifi, cellular and sync on,
I am however rooted and use Greenify and SetCPU.
I bet you have something is running that is preventing deep sleep. Possibly even a stock app. like that horrid Google Music app.

15 hours screen on or idle and what frequency you use in set cpu (do you undervoltaging ? )

How would I know which country FILE I need to download to downgrade to 4.1.2. Original BASEBAND was N5100UBBMC7, BUILD NUMBER was JZO54K.N5100UBBMC8. Google and Bing zero result searching these numbers.

don't get that why downgrade to 4.2.2, having move to SD feature alone is one reason I am excited about, of course my Note 8 is wifi, which 4.2.2 is not officially available yet. If you waiting for 4.3, good luck for that since we all know how sammy is way too slow releasing new firmware compare to others..

I just wanted the S-PEN to be accurate and increase battery usage. My GT-N5100 battery life lasted longer on 4.1.2. The last thing I want to do is brick my device flashing a different country code. Thanks.

You won't brick just by using a different country's firmware, the only risk is if you flash the wrong models, flagging a 5100 firmware on a 5120 for example, "may" give you problems.

Thanks for the response.
I did a little research and these countries have the same data posted on sammobile.com.
CHO Chile
COO Columbia
UPO Paraguay
Model: GT-N5100
Country: Chile
Version: Android 4.1.2
Changelist: 1048977
Build Date: Tue, 19 Mar 2013 04:28:51 + 0000
Product Code: CHO
PDA: N5100UBBMC8
CSC: N5100UUBBMC7
Modem: N5100UBBMC7
So I probably can pick any of these countries firmware to downgrade from Germany firmware 4.2.2

Pretty much, what country is your Note from?
The only caution I would recommend you take is to back up your internal SD, I had to perform a reset after down grading, but I'm not sure if it was something to do with some of the root tweaks I had applied, that may have not wiped/loaded the modules correctly, causing the boot loops I had.
Either way I was forced to do it.

Thanks for your response. I don't exactly know what country this device defaults to. I purchased it from Amazon.com for $475.79. I updated the OS when the Germany 4.2.2 firmware became available from http//www.sammobile.com

This may work as a last resort if OXA firmware has not yet overridden your csc (by DBT).
Reboot into recovery and once at the recovery screen: note the applying csc / multi CSC message. If you lucky it still should show your original firmware CSC code, find the corresponding country for that code and is should likely be your original firmware (do compare other parameters too though).

With all the help everyone's providing me, it should be cake walk in the park. I did your recommended procedure, boot into recovery, power button, vol up and home button. I think the country code got replaced with DBT.
#MANUAL MODE#
--Appling Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-Code: DBT
Successfully Applied Multi-CSC
I think the default country got overridden when I ODIN flashed the DBT 4.2.2.
I'll just have to wait till someone figure out how to align the S-PEN
again, thanks

downloaded 4.1.2 CHO, flashed via odin, soon as it went into Samsung Boot Loop, power button, vol up and home, wipe data/factory reset, phone rebooted, and deja vu, its in the same place when I first turned it on. No more S-PEN misalignment.

so.. worth it upgrade to 4.2.2 or stick with 4.1.2 since we have s-pen accuracy and battery drain?

My personal view, stick with 4.1.2 the battery drain is enough of a reason on its own to not upgrade.

I second your recommendation, if op insist on upgrading to 4.2.2, my suggestion would be to write down all info, Build Number, Baseband Version and CSC code, download the 4.1.2 firmware based on csc code and tuck it away somewhere in case he/she not happy with the misaligned s-pen.
my previous post explain how I got back to 4.1.2.
maybe its a better idea to just wait if 4.3 should come out.

yeah stick with 4.1.2, on 4.2.2, spen accuracy & android/obb folder is write protected lil bit annoying

im on 422... but not found a problem with spen.. it work normaly.. the best thing i can move almost all my games and apps on my external memory...

Just got my note 8 back from samsung after display and motherboard replacement and have just installed (4.2.2) officially released firmware for my region (INU). just for kicks for a few days to see if anything improved, otherwise back to 4.1.2.
I still see s-pen offset. it's a tiny offset and most people might not even notice that , but if you are into drawing stuff you'll notice that when the lines don't start from the point you want them to. basically that tiny circle you see when you bring spen close to screen, the pen tip seems to be aligned along on the outer edge instead of it's dead center.
One thing I have noticed in first 10-12 hours is that the standby battery consumption seems to have dropped significantly which is a good thing, Hope it stays like that.

Screenshaking/Multitouch issue fix SM-P600 (workaround with new kernel)

Hi guys, so in another thread (thx to starsky23 and hpblze) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2682101) some guys extracted the kernel of the newest Firmware from March 11 (korean firmware) and it seems to fix some or all of the screen shaking/multitouch issues.
Please note I'm just a user and I have no idea why it works, it just does Maybe someone with actual knowledge can have a closer look at it? Anyway it's safe and worked without issues for me.
Since we don't know when Samsung will release new official firmwares here's the fix:
You need:
-Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) wifi only, SM-P600 with Samsung Firmware/Roms Android 4.3 (for 601 users: it will work but it will kill 3G reducing your tablet to Wifi only)
-Root & Root explorer (the kernel will break wifi at first, so you need a way to edit build.prop to fix that)
-Odin
What it fixes:
-No more screen shaking when you hold the screen with your finger
-Touch input when holding the screen won't drop after ~23sec
-It also fixes apps like USB/BT JoyCenter (map touch input to gamepad buttons) which didn't recognize the touchscreen before.
How to:
1. Download the file:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/29704739/SM-P600_Kernel_KXUANC2_Odin.tar
2. boot into download mode (power+volume down) and load up Odin 3.07 (that's what I used) on your PC.
3. Flash the Kernel as PDA like regular firmware.
4. Let the Tablet reboot and notice that it won't connect to Wifi, when you go to settings/device info under kernel it should have the following date "Tue Mar 11"
5. Now open root explorer and browse to system/ and open build.prop with a text editor.
6. Find the line 'ro.securestorage.support=true' and change it to 'ro.securestorage.support=false' (no quotation marks).
7. Save build.prop and reboot the tablet.
8. Wifi should work again and touch issues are fixed.
Have fun

Lets hope crappy lazy Samsung to release the same fix for SM-P605 with 4.4 update.

did you do a dirty flash or did you wipe anything first?
or after.
I didn't wipe anything. I don't even have a custom recovery installed.

Hey guys. I'm a little curious. Does this fix the screen shaking completely or do you guys still notice a little bit of shake when long pressing an app?
Reason I ask is that I am running the Taiwan firmware and I just got an OTA update to the latest Taiwan firmware. It seems to have "fixed" this issue to an extent, but a little bit of jitter is still there when long pressing an app. Not sure if the same happens with you.

I'm talking about the NB1 firmware (new Taiwan one I'm running ) compared to this one (NC2).
Anyway it's very minor, I'll be holding the app down and it won't be having a seizure like it normally did, but it still moves around a little and doesn't stay completely still. Kinda hard to describe without a video or something lol.

I believe , that this fix is a workaround to an earthing issue that plagues a lot of other devices like the nexus and some xperia devices,to name a few
The problem is not 100 percent solved , but 80 percent solved ... I guess they reduced the over sensitivity in software .

For those who have the P601 like me:
this procedure will remove your SIM card capabilities. basically you're turning your P601 into a P600. OP, please mention it. It would be great if we could get the kernel from P601 Korea firmware.

Done.
Btw I have also noticed there is still some very minor shaking sometimes, so samsung if you're reading this, take note. Anyway if you don't look for it you probably won't notice and what's more important for me the long hold bug is fixed as well, which made racing games basically unplayable.
It's a sufficient workaround for me until 4.4 comes along

I hope so. In the meantime I've even gone as far as sacrificing 3G to get the fix, my tablet was REALLY severe bug. Even when scrolling in Twitter or Facebook sometimes it didnt work properly. so far so good with new kernel. very happy, just wish I will get 3G back soon
Question
Will updating my stock tablet with this newer firmware screw with my warranty? I'd like to try it, but I'm still attempting to get Samsung to accept the tablet as a return.

Have you enabled the root option and mounted /system as rw?
You could also try to download "build prop editor" apk from a computer and install it on your tab

[Q] SGH-I337M No Sound or WIFI???

I have tried everything in this forum in regards to re-flashing, the weird thing is I can flash 4.2 which boots up, but no sound or wifi, also once it boots I am able to use Kies to Upgrade the 4.4, but still no sound or wifi, if I try and flash 4.3 JB through Odin it fails every single time, I have tried multiple versions of Odin and multiple sources for the firmware file???

Same issue
Hey, I'm having the exact same problem. I had a custom rom installed and I noticed that I didn't have much room left on my internal storage. It was probably a stupid move, but while my phone was plugged into my computer, I deleted a lot of the folders that I saw on my phone. I kept the folders I thought were important (Android, DCIM) but apparently I deleted some important files.
I have reset the phone multiple times. Still no wifi or no sound. I have the same model this person has (SGH-i337m) and it was locked to Rogers originally, but the person I bought it from had it factory unlocked. I'm assuming I still try flashing with the Rogers firmware? I still have 29 minutes left for the firmware to finish downloading and then I'm going to try flashing it twice like you recommended.
If that doesn't work, I really hope you see this and are able to help me out. If it doesn't work, I will dial #1234# and post what it says. Please reply asap if you see this. Thanks!
I have the same problem as well!
It wasn't until I read this post that I realized I have not sound either.
I'm in the process of running the update through Kies (takes FOREVER) and then I'll try these instructions. Originally locked to Rogers, but was unlocked so I can use SIM cards in other countries.
I flashed to CyanogneMod and then tried to go back and now have this problem, with the kernel warning in red when the phone starts.
I had this version on my phone before CyanogenMod - can I try putting it back on, or do I use the March/2014 release?

Breathe. and don't show your stress when things go belly-up.
Ignore husband laughing at me and saying that he won't let me have HIS Samsung S4 to mess with now that I f'd mine
Always back up.
even more importantly, DON'T BACK UP WITH KIES. I LOST ALL MY TEXTS.... research a good backup program
keep the latest working version of your ROM on your desktop for the next time you f up for easy reference.......

[Q] lollipop broke my phone. I have questions about fixing it.

Verizon Note 3 - SM-N900V - Lollipop 5.0 - OB6
Lollipop pretty much wrecked my phone. Apps crash, wireless turned very sporadic especially when changing hotspots, I've had to pop the battery out of it multiple times now due to it completely freezing, I like using the weather widget but now my GPS locator goes off the grid at times, and battery life is just dead overall with 70-80% spiked battery usage from the OS at 1-2am when I'm sleeping. I've done a full format on my phone to no avail.
That said, I'm new to the game and I've been doing a lot of research on how this all works and have questions/want to do this properly and cleanly. It seems like my 2 options are to:
1. Revert my phone back to 4.4.4 somehow(haven't figured that part out yet), root it, and install JasmineRom 5.0 then dirty flash it to JasmineRom 5.3
2. Leave Lollipop 5.0 on it, buy a nice microSD card (I have a 2gb card but I think it may be too small for JasmineRom), get multisystem running in it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/tool-multirom-recovery-replacement-t3102395 Then get JasmineRom on the multisystem setup and boot to that.
I would prefer option 1 honestly and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you know if there is a step by step guide for this? I read through the forum posts you linked me but all they said is that they did it with Odin and it worked. I'm a scrub when it comes to tinkering with phones because I usually end up selling them on Craigslist and buying new ones or doing trades so I usually keep them stock but I really like this phone. Once again any information would be appreciated. I'm going to dig around XDA a bit more to try and find one specific to my phone.
I can write one if you like, but their are step by steps on using odin. I used Odin 3.09 along with NK1 firmware from sammobile. It's extremely easy. There is a link on here and a few other Android forums tho.
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
1. Download Odin 3.09 and NK1
2. Backup applicable data (photos, exports contacts to SD card, or internal storage then move everything onto your PC for now..)
3. Turn phone off, launch Odin on your PC. Put the phone into download mode by holding down volume down and home button. Press power button while holding vol down and home, release when Launching recovery appears. When the phone is in download mode and Odin is open in your computer, connect the two. A blue COM1 should appear and odin should say something roughly along the lines of device connected (language may differ.)
4. The NK1 firmware file you downloaded, check off the AP slot and select it in browse. Make sure the only checkmarks are next to F.Reset time and Auto Reboot!!
5. Flash it. It'll take around ten minutes, then odin will reboot the phone.
The phone will probably bootloop, and that's okay..infact as soon as I saw the Samsung logo then the verizon one after it had restarted i pulled the battery and went into recovery. (with phone off, volume up home+power) and select factory data reset (don't worry, it's already gone anyway!!)
This will put you back on NK1. When and if you get the update nag, select 'no thanks.'
Download links
Odin 3.09: http://androidhost.org/PVAIv
4.4.4 VZW Build NK1 (second one down) http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N900V/
Do not trash to flash any other firmware, it has been blacklisted..and NK1 will probably be blacklisted after the next update to the Note 3. I don't know why it wasn't in the firstplace..

[Q]SOLVED Noob GT-I9505 WIFI dead after upgrd 4.4.2 searched and tried all solutions

First of all please forgive me for opening yet another S4 wifi problem after kitkat upgrade, but I have tried everything I could possibly find here, on youtube and other forums. The only thing left to try is flash the modem but I'd rather ask before I brick my phone
I'm not quite sure if this is the same issue every single time or if in my case it is due to my ignorance and errors. I was an iphone/unlock/jailbreak user until last year so please bear with me. Android is new and fun (but scary) territory to me.
Situation, what I did and possible mistakes on my side:
-I'm in Spain but I bought my factory unlocked phone on amazon and it was for the Polish market (GT-I9505 Black, 16 Gb)
-My device was rooted don't even remember how I did it last year so no useful info on that side a part of using odin for windows.
- Until yesterday I was on jellybean, not quite sure if 4.2.2 or 4.3
- Yesterday I upgraded to 4.4.2 via mobile odin and yes I checked the boxes about clearing/deleting cache or whatever it's called.
- Used a stock firmware downloaded from other site (that one starting with "S" and with a great amount of firmwares for samsung devices of several countries)
- I chose a firmware randomly (maybe this was my mistake) because I hade read that the firmware was not that important and people where usimg leaked german firmwares on on phones from elsewhere. But I did choose one that matched the country of my phone (XEO/XX Poland)
- Everything is working fine but without wifi I'm buying new Mb bundles almost every 2 hours and I'll be broke very soon
If you guys think the solution is flashing the modem which file should I use? I see lots of them with different models/codes and I'm completely lost and have read a lot about messing with bootloaders/modems etc bricking devices so I'm freaking scared and ask for your charitative help!
All the info I could gather about my device right now (now I know I should have gathered this info also before attempting to upgrade but it's too late now!

Thank you so much for your helpful reply Joku1981 !!!!! You made my day!!!
Can I do that with Mobile Odin??? My PC broke (Graphics card burnt) and until a couple of months won't be able to buy a new one.
To make sure I understand you: You mean Flash again the same firmware I used to upgrade to 4.4.2 in the first place?
I used this Firmware: I9505XXUGNG8_I9505YXZGNH2_XEO
should I try Flashing that same Stock Firmware again? and if does not work keep reflashing until the baseband and the bootloader get updated?
Why did they not update ? is this common or an error on my side???
I hope it can be done with mobile Odin since I can keep my root status, If I have to do it in Desktop Odin do I have to Re-Root after flashing???
Thank you so much for you kind help!!!!!!

SOLVED!!!!!
After nobody answered if I could use again "mobile Odin" to flash once more and try to fix my wifi not working I opened mobile odin and it gave me a warning about my version and having a wrong bootloader as a possibility of soft bricking my phone so I decided to stay away of mobile Odin this time.
I used desktop Odin (at work since my pc broke) and exactly the same firmware file downloaded from sammobile (but re-downloaded it just in case) and had to flash twice, the first time it went through the whole process ok right until the end where it showed the FAIL message.
I didn't know if I should turn off the phone stuck in download mode and with the process bar at 100 % or retry flashing without turning it off. So I decided not to turn it off (afraid it would get soft bricked or something). I closed mobile Odin but left phone On with download mode screen active and opened mobile Odin again got the "added"message and the blue color showing it was properly connected to the phone and started flashing process again....
I started getting red error messages saying the progress bar display was wrong (and it wasn't updating/kept stuck in the previous 100%) but after it finished it was flashed and everything was ok. WIFI WORKED!!!!!!
Now the weird part.....in case this happens /helps someone else:
- My phone DID NOT get wiped. My launcher and my apps stayed intact (I thought flashing even the same firmware always wiped data, I'm I wrong???)
- All my root apps (root explorer, titanium backup, so on and so forth) where there and working fine. One root checker stated I was rooted and another one stated I wasn't but even my launcher (nova) was working just as if I never flashed the phone.
- Since I was unsure of my "root" state and I did not have "supersu" app in my apps drawer I tried installing it via playstore but It always gave an error message (the application could not be installed in the default location)
- I rooted again just in case and the root process finished without errors but still I had no "supersu" app and one root checker said I was rooted and the other I wasn't. Tried installing "supersu" from the playstore but same error and could not get installed.
- I searched here and in other forums for similar problems/solutions but nothing worked until I tried several things that fixed the problem. Not really sure which fixed it so I will write them down in the order I did them:
1. Opened folder mount which I already had installed and it gave me an error and asked me to try the fix which I did.
2. Opened linked2sd which I already had installed also previous to the firmware flash. It gave me an error and asked me which was the partition to use (as when I first installed it) in my case it was ext4. And it seemed to start working as it normally does. No further error when reopening it.
3. Rebooted the phone and tried entering recovery mode to wipe cache etc but It never entered recovery mode. I get the message about going into recovery mode (top left corner small red letters) But right after that it reboots and I get the samsung logo and my home screen.
4. Tried reinstalling supersu again and no success. (By the way before I did all this steps I tried rooting again but got to the same point. No supersu on my apps drawer)
5. Downloaded BusyBox install (opened it but did not use it in any way, maybe something in the installation fixed my problem)
6. Opened mobile Odin just for curiosity sake and it opened fine and asked for downloading of the extra stuff as when I installed it the first time. After that I closed it
7. Rebooted normally (no recovery mode since I'm stuck without it)
8. Tried installing "supersu" and NOW it worked!!!
9. Checked in both root checker apps and both confirm I'm rooted and supersu started asking for granting permissions to apps again as it normally does!
10. Everytime I attempted flash, root, and even after some reboots I took the battery off (since I read in several threads it helped/was mandatory)
Conclusion now my WIFI problem is fixed, my root problem (that appeared doing the reflash for fixing my wifi problem) is also fixed. The only thing I could not fix is not being able to get into recovery mode.
Does anyone know a solution for recovering the ability to get into recovery mode????
Thanks to Joku for lighting me into re flashing once and again until my wifi was fixed!

Sm-g955f bricked - flashing stock firmware only made it worse

Hi All,
So, I have spent 2 days trying to get my Galaxy s8+ back to normal. However, I seem to only have made it worse. It all happened when I decided to change the /data partition from ext4 to another format and then back again to get the /data partition to mount in TWRP after flashing Pascal Rom. However when I rebooted, nothing worked, no boot up screen, no recovery, no life, but all I could get was download mode. It then must of froze up after another restart and I couldn't get anything for 12 hours or so.
The next step I tried once i got download mode again was to flash stock firmware for the G955F, I can't remember the version of this firmware, but I still had nothing change. So then i flashed the latest firmware from SamFirm's downloading client, which was G955FXXU2CRF7 - Australian Optus Branded Firmware (OPS). I was able to get as far as the "hello start screen" and then my phone restarted, it then tried to upgrade my system again, then started "erasing" and then it rebooted and I still had the same issue, nothing but download mode and still no recovery, it still wouldn't turn on. So I flashed the latest International/Unbranded Australian firmware (XSA) - G955FXXU3CRGH, still the same result. I now can't go back to the OPS version of firmware because I get the Check error with the bootloader (since it's a more recent version), so I can't go backwards. I also can only flash "Official Binaries" now. Oh and to make things worse, I read that Odin Option "Nand Erase" just erased user data, so I thought I might as well try it, and as a result, I now can't flash even the (XSA) firmware because of ODIN failing and I now have an "An Error has Occurred while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch PC Software.". I am a bloody idiot :good: . Oh, I have tried multiple versions of Both Samsung Kies & Smart Switch (Which both had the option for "recovery & initialisation"), however, I get a message that my device is unsupported after adding in my device model and S/N. I tried a PIT file and then found out it's now included in all the latest firmware img files.. so yeah lol. Fun times. Soooo I feel like I am out of Options, nothing I do is working. The worst of all this is my wife is not happy haha which means after years of tinkering with android phones (flashing custom ROMS, Kernels, Root Solutions, e.c.t ), this may be the end of the road for me if I can't fix this phone. I really hope this thread isn't true too : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/help/sm-g955fd-access-download-mode-t3748228
So Please, someone help me out if it is at all fixable even if it requires opening the phone up lol.
The stats i have on download mode are the following:
RMM State as Prenormal
OEM Lock: OFF
FRP Lock: OFF
CARRIER_ID: OPS (which is super weird because it only accepts XSA to be flashed :S )
Secure download: Enabled
System Status: Custom
Warranty Void: 1
Current Binary: Samsun Official
If you need more, just let me know.
Ok, quick update: I have got rid of the error that I mentioned. I managed to flash XSA firmware again, it went to the blue Andriod is updating the system screen, then started "erasing" then rebooted and nothing again, still only download mode available. Nothing happens when I try to turn it on or try recovery mode.
This firmware you mentioned XSA - G955FXXU3CRGH i would double check. As far as I know Australia doesn't have a version 3 bootloader yet whether unbranded.telstra or Optus.
Quick Update: Maybe Fixed now!
Even though no one has replied yet, as it's only been an hour or so. I just wanted to let anyone else know who is experiencing a similar issue in the future on how to possibly fix it.
This was a real nightmare, however quick disclaimer, I am not responsible for any damage incurred to your device/property by following my instructions.
So the way I have fixed it, is I flashed the AP file only (from the firmware zip i had downloaded from SamFirm) with "Auto Reboot" Off. When ODIN finished, I held the Vol Down + power button, to reset it. It gave me a blue "No Command" Screen, I then waited and it then went black and the recovery screen appeared. I cleared the cache, rebooted to bootloader, which it didn't turn back on, so I left it because I thought it was the same thing. Came back 10 mins later and turned it on (or hard restarted, can't remember) and it worked. It booted!
I did soon learn it looks like it was having a charging problem because it had no charge and kept telling me there was water in the port (even though it was dry), I restarted it again after putting it on a wireless charging pad and it is seeming fine so far with the USB charger. So big note to anyone in the future, that it could be possibly bugging out with charging as well if you can't get it back on. I did have the device tell me here and there the last two days that there was water in the port when it was off. So kinda weird.
I know this all sounds a little hocus pocus, superstitious almost, but hey, my phone is working, so maybe replicating my actions may just help lol. :cyclops:

Oh right, well, I did hear that SamFirm is not supported anymore, as that's where that firmware came from. Maybe it's dishing out incorrect firmware now? Possible the structure of where ever it is getting its firmware from (pretty sure it's pulled from samsung) has possibly been altered?
Just for reference I use www.updato.com for downloading firmware it is usually up to date. No reference to the firmware you mentioned (not for Australia anyway)

Interesting I'll keep a lookout for it. Still on nougat 7.0 (XSA) no plans to upgrade yet until some issues are fully resolved ( out of beta stage that is ).

Yeah, it's seeming to work now, but my fast charge isn't working. However, my other oreo ROM didn't work with fast charge either. So i am unsure if it is my phone or an orio bug :/ lol
Well at least you got it working and not using as a door stop
