[Solved] Need some help..
I want to get my ATT galaxy s4 back to stock. I searched for a lot online. Basically it needs Odin and a downloaded stock firmware.
My question is does it work even for my phone currently is CWRP recovery and custom rom flashed? Does the Odin flash the stock recovery to the phone?

CWRP recovery? is that new? You have the 2 recoveries mixed, hehe good one though. I like that name. Anywaz...use ODIN, get the stock image and flash.

heh we cool, um, it does not remove the recovery, but a hint here, odin back to stock, go into recovery after and factory reset. If you are wanting to remove everything including recovery, there is a thread or 2 with info on that.

Thank you very much! Still have a question..After I go to recovery and factory reset, can I get OTA update?
since the OTA update would check for system integrity like recovery.

I have heard different stories on that, the one that I think is if you are rooted and recovery installed, your status would show custom, so no updates.
Anyone have any input on this?

Asked someone if OTA is available after, he just said "should be" which is risky for me...
The goal is to get everything back to stock and question is can "Odin+stock firmware" achieve... I am so confused..

Do you have any idea about the boot unlock image with word "custom"? I found something online saying that even if you flashed a stock firmware
by Odin and reset factory in recovery, it could be still there and probably related to some files be signed or not by samsung.. Any suggestion?

There is a way to get that to read normal, but you must first get back to stock. Start there, and we will get the other taken care of.

If you want to be 100% stock like you were out of the box, you can do a factory reset/wipe in TWRP and then ODIN back to stock.
Factory reset will wipe all of your data - some of which is causing the custom icon at boot. You can wipe the cache and davlik cache as well to be sure.
Next, ODIN will remove root and custom recovery afterwards, leaving you completely stock.
My understand is that if you don't want to wipe all your apps and data, you can ODIN back to stock and then manually remove the files that are causing the custom icon, but I have not tried that.

Yeah! I got everything back to stock 4.2.2 UCUAMDL. The lock custom logo is gone. I checked for OTA update, but it said the software was up to date. Obviously it is not the latest. What can I do to get the latest update?

Did you use Odin to do the OTA update manually? I was rooted and had custom recovery and used Kies to get back to "stock" but only to MDL. Phone checks for updates and it says im on the latest as well.. I want to update the phone to MF3 but I cant find it anywhere... Can you me out?

I want it stock as stock gets if possible.. I don't want to deal with recovery's and such.. I have to warranty the phone once I come up with the $$ for the deductible because the screen is cracked and I don't want them saying my warranty its void...
Will getting to MF3 this way cause me to have the custom unlocked symbol on the startup screen again??

I recently tried to flash a kernel and it seems that it was a corrupted download or something of the sorts and no whenever my phone powers on, the phone sits on a black screen and just vibrates. I have gotten into download mode and ODIN'd it with the stock image but it put me right back at the same thing. Has anyone else had this issue and if so can itt be fixed?

I'm not for sure about it being hard bricked if you can still get into download mode. Did you use a jig to get into download mode becuz I think that would be the only way to get to it if it was hardbricked,if not you may be able to get the pit file and fix it

Odin does say successful. Can you tell me how I could find the firmware version? I odin to amdl then rooted and installed TWLite and tried to flash the KToonzes kernel when this happened.

In settings, about device would show the firmware. If you odined and you were on the mdl firmware. You can't get into recovery right now? Only download mode? Did you try to flash a rom before the kernel? I assume you have an i337?

Yes. I have a hard time putting it in Download mode. I don't know if I can hit recovery. Ill try though.

After odin says sucessful,you have to remove the battery cause it will be stuck stuck on the download screen and go into recovery and factory reset the phone and it should boot right up.I dont think your phone is hard-bricked if you was able to use odin.

yeah i have done the samething. i went from stock rooted and had cyanogenmod 10 successfully downloaded and running one night. The next morning i installed ktoonsez kernel 100% certain it was for my cyano and everything i was running and its 90% hard bricked. The only thing i can do is get it into odin mode. Ive also flashed my att ucuamdl file with odin to try and reset it and it has said successful. The only thing i had checked was t ime reset and reboot. So i pulled the battery to try and fire it back up and nothing happens but a black screen and a little vibration. Kind of pisses me of since im not the only one who has had this happen. So far ive still had no luck with anything about the phone. no recovery, no nothing. Anybody else know anything?

If you can get into odin mode flash the mdl file again but make sure you have nothing ticked such as the f rest time or auto boot.And once you done pull out your usb cord and it should still say downloading on the screen.So pull the battery and then place it back in but dont boot up go into recovery what i do to get in recovery is hold the volume up,power and home button until i see the recovery booting sign at the top left corner then i let go off the power button and hold the volume up and home button until it boots into recovery.but when you go into recovery it will download the install the mdl file so you might have to do the recovery part twice after it installs the file then factory reset your phone and it should boot right up.

What kt kernel did you install was it the aosp kt kernel or the tw kt kernel you might flashed the wrong kernel.

I just tried this with the UAMDB md5 file since thats the one that came with my phone and it didn't work. hmmmm

I know that you would think that it would be the newbie mistake to install an tw kernel on top of a aosp ROM, but I made 100% sure to choose the correct ROM. I know the difference between touch wiz and also.
Also, sorry to hijack the thread I just saw it and figured since we both have the same problem we might all solve it together.
I tried to use GooManager to install TWRP, and now every time I try to reboot, the phone gets to the "Samsung Galaxy Note 3" page with three lines at the top - they say:
Recovery booting.....
Recovery is not seandroid enforcing
Set Warrant Bit : Recovery
I was on the leaked KitKat firmware. Can I fix this without losing everything? Or should I just restore the 4.4 using ODIN and re-root?

I read one post that says TWRP hasn't been updated yet to run kitkat. Try CWM.

I did this a few days and it worked fine. When I went to do it again earlier it ****ed up and let to that error again.
That's when I restored everything again and asked you for CWM.
Someone on there (third from bottom) mentioned they had the same error.

It seems it does it every now and again for whatever reason, I was lucky my root worked right away but my flashing of 4.4.2 didn't lol -- Reflash 4.4.2 via Odin then re-root. Should be good to go mate
EDIT: Careful if you are restoring anything via CWM, as it has just been done for 4.4.2 there *may* be issues with it that haven't been noticed.

OK, so you'll defo have to reflash from scratch, then boot her up and set up, then re-root - try not to restore anything.

Yeah, try and root it on very basic system just too see, it might not be playing too well with things as it stands

Last thing I can think of, is you may have had the wrong file try This one at the bottom of the page is the link. If you already have this one, then Re-flash Stock to fix yourself, and hold tight on root until it can be figured out 100% for now.

Now I regret messing around this morning at college, using GooManager while I should have been studying...
I just want root back so I can install Xposed, Greenify and Titanium Backup to freeze the bloat
My galaxy is messing up everytime I turn it on it gets stuck on the Samsung logo and I dont what to do please help if you know how to fix this.
Did it just starting doing this by itself or have you recently flashed our installed anything. Also, what firmware are you on?

Im on AT&T i337 MK2 and all I did was reboot it so a new transition when opening apps would apply when it tried rebboting it go stuck on the samsung logo

Have you tried rebooting it again and do you have a backup of your phone. I'm sure we can get it working again but to do that it might wipe your device.

I have tried rebooting it multiple times and it wont work. Yes I have a backup. By the way my phone is also rooted.

I would try a factory reset in recovery, you'll lose root so you'll have to re-root afterwards.

Ok I did it three times and when I reboot its still doing it but on top of it all its still rooted cause when I reboot it still says Samsung Custom and shows a lock symbol.

That's not a good sign that it's not working. The next thing to try is to flash the factory firmware. See the attached. You'll want to download the all in one file and flash that in odin.

You'll download a .rar file, use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. Use that file in the PDA slot in odin.

Download Odin and the all in one onto your computer. You'll run Odin from your computer. Boot your phone into download mode then plug it into your usb cable. Odin should show that your device is connected.

Start it up. You'll see a PDA slot where you can browse for a file. Browse to where the.tar.md5 file you downloaded is. Then boot your phone into download mode and plug the usb cable into it. Odin should have a com in the upper left hand corner turn yellow or blue, it depends on the Odin version you're using. Once you see that your phone is being recognized by Odin and you can hit start. If everything goes right it should take about 10 minutes for it to do its thing. If it's successful boot into recovery and do a factory reset

I don't want to steal your thunder JD. Sketchy do you live near a BestBuy? If so some have a Samsung Experience Shop which they can do that for you if you are unsure how to use Odin. Tell them Kies broke your phone and ask them to reflash it. Its free. Try not to show them the custom logo.

So I installed the hyperdrive rom and was having trouble with the wifi so i downloaded the kernel in a seperate zip. went back in recovery, and installed everything, kernel kept erroring in recovery while installing, I decided to restart, and it asks if i want to prevent stock recovery from installing. Not sure what I hit, as I was clipping on the back, but whatever i did, now when the phone boots up, it vibrates for about 1 second, the screen stays black. It does this about every 10 sec. I can get into download mode so i tried installing the stock firmware with ODIN but i still have the same problem. Any suggestions?
Can you link to the kernel you installed. Also are you on mdl firmware and was Odin successful out were there errors?

I was installing ktoonz kernel and Idk what firmware i was on, i think it was the the uCAMDL or whatever one didnt need safestrap

Are you sure the kernel you used was for the i337?

yes. i think it bricked because when i rebooted, the recovery asked if i wanted to prevent the flashage (is that even a word?) of the stock recovery, and atm i was putting on the back, so i may have hit yes.

You've tried to Odin the mdl firmware? Of that doesn't work I'm afraid you're sol

I cant enter recovery, all i can enter is download mode. It's MDL

if you can get into download mode and that's stable and not rebooting on you. I'd look at then using Odin once in download mode and the cf-auto-root tool to get back to a working phone. you may lose data but may get out of the bricked state

Where can i find this cf-auto-root tool? Is it in the S4 section as I cant seem to find it.
