I took a video of my kid riding his bike for the first time.
The video worked great and I showed it to a few people.
The last time I showed the video to someone the file turned into a picture (JPG).
Now it is just a black picture.
I have used ES exployer to change the file back to a .mp4 but it says the cannot open the file. I also tried changing to an AVI.
I have also re-started, taken out battery for 10 seconds ect.
My phone is the S3 SGH-1747M, 4.1.2.
I have searched but did not see anything simliear to this.
Any help is appreaciated.
Thanks
Dean

What did you convert you video files to? Needs to be mp4 for playback on HD

Can't you navigate to it in file explorer?

what you mean?
explore to that directory and click it ... it opens !
i dont want to have to explore for it, its the same for pictures, if i put a film or photos on my sd card i want to see them on my home screen and just be able to flick through them
I think you just have to refresh the files for the album. In the camera tab, hit the left softkey (Album). Once again hit the left softkey(Albums) and hit "All" or Storage Device>{Folder which has your pics/vids}. I believe this will refresh your list and it should stay fine at least until you take out the SD card/connect to PC.
sorted, if u go to all and make it favorite it goes to the tab
Honest guys, I searched and searched here and all over the internet
I've had my HD2 for about 6 months now. I'm not up to your level of tweakiness with mobile phones
Just upgraded to the latest O2 ROM - 1.72.xxx ?
AND I realise posting new threads on here is faux pas in the extreme, but I spent hours searching and I have a headache plus maybe a small deathwish now!
Please, please, please can someone tell me the answers to;
1. What format do my music videos have to be in, on my storage card, to pick them up in the Photo's and Video's album? I've converted them to mp4 but still I'm told there are no videos found
2. My previous phone was a POS LG Renoir, however, compared to my HD2 it had one redeeming quality in that any photo I looked at I could select 'Send' and Bluetooth was an option. On my HD2 Facebook, Messages etc etc are the only options. Up until 6 months ago I used the bluetooth on my Renoir alot to send work photos. Is there anyway to enable this 'right click' function?
3. I signed up for this phone for 2 years, thinking it was the bees knees. Colleagues at work all waited for the HD2 Desire, and it looks fantastic. I'd ditch WinMo in a heartbeat to have Android - but after reading 100 pages of the 415 available....Is Android a viable option yet? (not taking away the extremely hard word the developers have put into it)
Sorry for asking such newbie questions but as I said originally I just can't find the answers on here (probably because of my ineptitude with using the search function)

Not sure if it helps but a work around for sending pics via bluetooth is using file explorer instead of album providing of course you know where your pics are and you know what the pics is called unless you have renamed them you can then press and hold the pic until menu pops up the first option is send via bluetooth
Not sure about the Vids did you save them to your storage card/video folder?
Just read up a little there is another option, you can use the pictures and video app which is in the multimedia folder in start menu this will show what pics you have on device or SD card with thumbnails again hold the pic and select bluetooth from pop up menu
Again regarding Vids I had several Vids which were stored in my DCM folder and did not show up in Album/Video I just moved them to the video folder on my SD card and now they show up so check that out
Thanks ozmoran for your reply
The bluetooth thing works a treat, can find pics by thumbnail and send by bluetooth. Much better than the work around I had figured using file explorer
Not as easy as having bluetooth being a send option from albums though (just in case anyone can make this work!!)
As for vids showing under albums, I did what you suggested, even reformatted the card. But unfortunately for me it still doesn't work. When I use the album 'search' bit the phone sees two files briefly (two music vids I've encoded to mp4) but then disappears them and says 'no photos or videos found'. I can browse to them normally and play them, in fact they look fantastic. Video I record on the phone shows up in Albums ok, so I guess it's a problem with the way I've encoded mine. I'll do a gspot comparison tomorrow and try to figure out where I'm going wrong
Really annoying though, I wanted the HD2 to be like an iPhone 4 but with the capability of making phone calls!! hahahaha!

oh well half the problem solved
I had the same prob with Avatar the file was too big I think I re encoded it and now I can watch it but only with media player and it wont show up in my vids in album either
You could always make a shortcut to your vids and put them on a quicklink I suppose
all depends how fast you want to find those vids eh
let me know how it goes
Ps this is much better than the other one and you know it ha ha
I am new owner on an EVO 4G. One of the first things I tried on my new EVO was to go to a website that I subscribe to and download an MP3 (Howard Stern ). It downloaded directly to the phone and I was extremely happy as I could not do this on my Palm Pre. Now, when I try to download an MP3 from the same website only days later the phone thinks it's trying to play a video. It starts to load up the file and then it says "Cannot play video" .... "Sorry, this video cannot be played". It’s definitely an MP3 and not a video file.
How as I able to successfully download this MP3 just days ago and now I cannot? I don't recall changing any settings that would cause this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
You are right, for some reason the phone is thinking its a video, or may a streaming file, when it isnt. Try long-pressing the link, and in the pop up menu hit Save Link, or Save Target. that will automatically download the file to the sd card. Just remember, anytime you cant figure out how to do something in an app, try long pressing, its the same as right clicking in windows.

I did some searching for about an hour now and haven't found anything pertaining to my problem, about a month ago i suddenly couldn't play videos that i have recorded on my phone. Theres no error message that pops up nor does the phone freeze. When i click any video file in my album it slightly expands, like normal signaling that it recognized that i clicked it, but the phone doesn't do anything. ive tried opening them in windows media player and no such luck. the player pulls the file name and says ready beneath it, i click play flashing opening for a split second. the file then switches to the next video file and does the same thing
*after posting i dug around more on windows media player and finally found an error code "source filter for this file could not be loaded" googled it and traced it to a youtube app, once uninstalled videos are back up and running*
Ok so I have been using "SPMC" an offshoot of "Kodi" more tuned to android. Well I got.to downloading movies most of which were Mp4's some .flv and .mkv.
Well on to the next day and I open up Localcast to watch some movies click on the main folder then the titled movie folder fully expecting to next click on the Mp4. When to my surprise there is nothing in the folder. Nothing in any of the titled movie folder. All of the Mp4's, .flv's, and .mkv's are gone. Nowhere to be found.
With my mouth hanging open in complete disbelief I started trying to come up with an answer and I am drawing a complete blank. It is as almost someone got into my phone and went into each and every titled movie folder and deleted each and every Mp4 etc.
My phone has not been out of arms length of me and while sleeping the only person with access has no clue how to even open a smart phone let alone do all that work.
Any ideas as to where all my movies went would an greatly appreciated. I am freaking out that someone got into my phone on a public Wi-Fi network and now will be tormenting me for the rest of my days.
Thanks in advance,
Jennifer
