Really guys? No one knows anything about our problem? Is it software-related? Can it be fixed?
I'm kinda tied of having to take the micro-SD out my defy to plug it in my computer's card reader...

Have you tried mounting sdcard from the bootmenu or from twrp recovery?

UPDATE:
bootloader sees the usb connection ("CONNECTION:USB - OK TO PROGRAM" shows)
the phone charges when turned off and plugged to a computer
no usb sharing while in recovery or bootmenu
no charging while turned on
usb connection not working (no mass storage nore USB tethering)
this makes me think the problem is software related
i'm running Quarx's 20130801 CM10.2

Try once with.
Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache from twrp.
Flash the rom
Flash minimal gapps by TJKV
Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
Reboot.
It may work.
If still it doesn't help than
Wipe data and cache from stock recovery.
Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache from twrp.
Reboot and enter in boot loader mode.
Flash proper sbf for your phone.
Root it.
Check if the USB works.
Install 2nd-init than boot menu.
Go to recovery
Wipe data and cache from custom recovery.
Flash the rom
Flash gapps
Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
This time it will work anyhow.
Keep the first option on highest priority cuz I'm sure it will work.

But first try the full wipe and re flashing the rom.
It may work.
Do reply if it works or not.
And if you're willing to follow sbf steps than before wiping anything install rsdlite in your computer and check if the rsdlite shows your device is connected.

Had the same problem, only thing to get right function back was flashing froyo. Windows recognized the defy with rds in flash mode right. U may get an error if u don't format data and cache back in ext3. And if froyo don't start make a factory reset in stock recovery after flashing
RDS lite cant see the device...
bootloader seems ok (transfer mode USB; ok to program)
any other ideas?

Hi guys!
I have just rooted my Motorola Defy and installed CM7 (7.0.2) into it using the instructions provided by CM wiki. I decided to use ClockworkMod and bootmenu, since I'm on Mac OS X.
Well, everything went fine until I tried to open the Market app, which was not working. Searching the web, I found that the solution could be wiping user data and caché through the recovery mode. As I could not figure out how to start the bootmenu (which I learned later), I did it through the stock recovery mode (using power + volume down)... and since that I can't boot my phone anymore!
I have already tried wiping everything again and installing CM7, but I'm still facing this problem.
Please, anyone have any ideas? I'm almost desperate.

So after doing a factory reset from stock recovery, you say you're trying to install CM7...
Are you installing this from CWM recovery?
Did you wipe Dalvik cache?
Are you using an MB525 Defy or an MB526 Defy+, and is the CM7 zip you're flashing a Defy or a Defy+ build?
>
You've probably not wiped Dalvik it seems.
In CWM recovery, go to Advanced and under that select Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Do yhis and a normal cache wipe every time you flash a ROM update. If you flash a totally new rom like CM10, wipe data also.

Hi! Thanks for the reply, and sorry for my English.
Actually, I have already installed CM7 and it worked fine, except for the Market app. Trying to solve this, I have done a factory reset from stock recovery and, since that, CM7 is locked to the boot screen.
And yes, I have installed CM7 through CWM recovery, and I'm using a MB525 Defy.
Well, I have just tried wiping Dalvik Cache, but it seem as if nothing happens when I select this.
Ya wiping Dalvik is very fast, but it will make a lot of difference. Every time you update your ROM, wipe both cache and dalvik.
>
If this didn't solve your problem, try wiping market data and uninstalling market updates. They will reinstall on their own.
>
If even that doesn't work, reflash the GAPPS zip.
BTW, shouldn't you be on CM7.2? That's the latest CM7 as far as I know.

You can only wipe data from an app trough the Apps Manager inside CM7 (that means you have to boot up your phone).
Try flashing the newest CM7.2 and the newest GAPPS for CM7.2.
If the problem persists, return your phone to the old .sbf and start all over again.

Well, I really can't boot my phone. I just can access bootloader and both recovery modes from stock and CWM (bootmenu).
Do you know how can I flash a .sbf on OS X? I know a lot of programs for Windows, and I also have found a script (sbf_flash.sh) that should work on Mac, but it seems that a lot of people are having problems in OS X (including myself).

OK. Go to CWM recovery. Wipe data. Wipe cache. Wipe dalvik.
Now install WhiteRabbit 1.8 or Maniac's CM7.2.
Flash the GAPPS packages linked in the respective threads.
Now AGAIN wipe cache and dalvik.
You should boot normally.
>
As long as you can access CWM, there's no need to reflash the SBF.

Yeah... I know that. I just wanted to rollback everything and have the phone back. I'm now studying which is the best ROM for me to install again, but meanwhile, I have my phone working.
Since installing CM10, my N7 shuts down/crashes overnight on charge. and after rebooting, still on the charger, it will shutdown again usually. Any ideas what this may be? Never did it on stock. Is there a CM forum to report this?

How did you flash to cm10. I would re download the latest cm 10.. (these change very often ). Do a Full wipe dalvik cache System and so on.. Then Flash the fresh copy.. CAUTION: if YOU WIPE DATA. You will have to adb push cm 10 back to device while in recovery/boot-loader..
Reflash after the full wipe.. Boot back into recovery after flash before first boot wipe dalvik/ cache . then see how it does.. Could be just a bad flash.. Or nothing more then a bug on that nightly of cm 10..
Your request for help is very vague on what and how you flashed. The more info you give the better answers you can receive .....

I will try that. I thought I did a complete wipe, but I may have flashed over another rom. Sorry for the sparse detail, I was seeing if this was a known issue or likely just a possible problem in my install. I'm using twrp recovery, if I wipe data, I can flash from otg-usb mounted flash drive.
Thanks!

Yes you can but make Sure before you wipe data that you can see the otg drive Sometimes from in recovery twrp you need to select reboot reboot recovery.. for it to show up.. not sure if its my drive or what...
Good Luck.

Wiped everything, I did have to do the reboot recovery thing to see the USB, but all went well after that. Seems to have fixed it, it woke fine this morning. Not mush loaded, so if it was an app, I'll find out as I load them back slowly.
Thanks.

Hello,
Today I wanted to factory reset my phone so I booted into CWM Recovery and did a factory reset. Strangely when I rebooted all my apps, settings and other stuff where still there. Then I tried to do a factory reset via the settings menu but it still didn't work. I figured I should just flash the rom and gapps again but this didn't work either. Also when I tried wiping dalvik it just went back to the advanced menu in CWM without wiping dalvik. I run CM9-NIGHTLY-121118-Defy+ with gapps-ics-20120429-signed on my Defy+, Bootmenu version is v2.1 and the CWM Version is v5.7.0- jordan.
I hope someone can help me figure out how to fix it.
Thanks!
You can try the format filesystem option from the boot menu. Convert to ext3 and then back to ext 4. If this doesn't work then try a wipe from the stock recovery. And lastly, try an sbf flash

Ah thanks, yesterday I figured it would just be easier to flash a stock sbf then go trough all the hassle of finding a solution.
Thanks anyways!
Using these would've been an easier solution, though - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818520
Hi All, I can flash a rom using RSD lite and then root using super one Click, then install 2nd init. I can access the custom recovery to install new roms. I do a factory reset/wipe cache, wipe dalvik and then install a rom. After install, I do a second wipe then reboot. Everything I try goes to a bootloop or does not work. When I am in a newer recovery, I wipe the /system folder too before installing a rom. and still no dice.
Any Ideas.

Use defy full wiper or aroma wiper to wipe everything and then flash. Then immediately reboot after flashing, no wipes required.

Don't wipe after installing the ROM.

Hello,
My Defy red lense was using CM10 from Quarx nightly 30.11. Everything was OK.
Yesterday my signal was lost (I thought RIL bug happened) so i normally reboot it. But booting stopped on cyan logo so i put out battery. After this phone booted almost ok but he stayed on "System updating... Running apps" (I translated this from Polish hope you know what I mean)
So I tried wipe Cache i Davlik and after boot was this application counting stuff and then again stayed on this "System updating...."
So I flashed same CM10 nightly. Wiped cache before and after. But it didn't help. Then I flashed some previous builds same way but nothing helped.
The last thing I did was flashing latest CM10.2 and gapps minimal for it. But still nothing. So right now once boot stop on cyan logo after putting out battery it boots further but stays on "System updating.." I waited long time even once I forgot to check and my phone was warm and battery drains very quickly (but I can charge no problem)
So my question is does only RSD help me or can I somehow revive my defy ?
Sorry for bad English.

Try entering recovery and backup data. Then after flash don't restore from twrp directly use nandroid manager to extract data from it. If backup fails at any point that means the partition was too damaged to yield any useful data.

Thank you very much for your help.
I have one more question.
In TWRP I pressed Wiped->Advanced wipe-> wipe dalvik, cache, data, system. Then I flashed 10.2 ROM after that gapps for it. No wipes after flashing or between. System booted up fine. It started with Cyan account then I had to enter google account and phone did restoring and everything was great. Even my apps was automatically downloaded. But I bricked again after I installed SuperSU through recovery (needed for Nandroid Manager).
So again I wiped dalvik, cache, data, system. Then flashed like before. But know its only cyan account config and after that just Trebuchet.
I can add Google account manually but it doesn't have restore option.
Can you tell me what more should I wipe to get it like it was at the first time.
For getting it to account restore wipe data

Yes. I did it like you wrote. In TWRP wipe -> Advanced -> checked system, data, cache, dalvik then Install CM10 and gapps at once (2 zips selected)
No wipes or reboots between ROM and gapps. None reboots after wiping.
Should I reboot after something ? Or wipe between ROM and gapps ?
So what you're saying is that repeating the same procedure, given identical starting points, you're getting different outcomes:what: . I have no idea how that screen is failing to show up, maybe due to full system partition, wrong gapps. I have always been able to restore directly after cm setup even without the elaborate wiping sequence. Not sure why this is happening

Gapps which I used are gapps-CM10.2_ONLY-20130813-minimal_edited_20131023.zip
I don't know if it has any meaning but at first time I didn't have my SIM card inside phone. But later I tried with SIM in and without it.
It looks like android keeps something on SD card or something is not wiped good enough.
I restored the broken ROM and after that I did all the wipe but nothing change. After cyan account Trebuchet welcomes me :/
So next thing I did was wiping data, system, cache, dalvik then I chose factory reset. After that i flashed ROM then right after this flashed gapps (not selecting 2 zips) and after reboot Google restore appeared.
However the apps didn't restore automatically because of this attempts when I add Google manually.
I don't know the exact reason but maybe this thread will help someone.
Thank you for your help.
