Hi all, very first post for me ever so don't crucify me. Thank-you.
I will try to be as concise and direct as possible.
I always have and probably always will favor the stock 3x4 keyboard over the, in my opinion, "cumbersome" QWERTY keyboard on my Samsung smartphone. I recently upgraded from a Galaxy S2, having had no past problems with the overall operation of the 3x4 keyboard, with everything being as simple and user friendly as one could expect from a modern smartphone.
Jump forward to the recent purchase of my Galaxy S4 and my understandable dismay at the sudden realization that the once faithful and reliable 3x4 keyboard hangs, with one very annoying feature, namely this...
When attempting to create a space between words when typing any sort of text, you need to press the the spacebar TWICE just to create a space between words, and/or wait for the underline of the selected word to move itself, which in itself is far too long a wait, (almost 2 whole seconds).
After several frustrated hours testing the limits of my tech know-how, I turned to the Internet for answers, only to find countless other perplexed 3x4 keyboard users frustrated by the same stupid design flaw, and no apparent solutions to the issue. I even sat on live chat with 3 different Samsung Customer Service Assistants who all told me, and i quote, "The Galaxy S4 was designed in favor of the QWERTY keyboard, and unfortunately I would just have to deal with the "problem" as best as i can.".
So...
My question is two part...
1. How could anyone with any morsel of common sense, while testing this format in development stages use this feature and agree that tapping the spacebar 200 time in a simple text message instead of 100 times is more practical and user friendly?
And 2. Is there some way to fix this annoying problem? With either a modded apk. installation of a software rollback or a root function, or anything?!?! I'm desperate to fix this!
And lastly, as if I don't already sound too demanding, I would appreciate it if anyone responding to this actually either owns a Galaxy S4 and has experienced this problem, and/or has some actual legitimate tech know-how and can offer an educated suggestion, instead of just "Hey Bro, have you checked your settings?", or "Just learn to use the QWERTY keyboard Bro." or "Try finding a third party keyboard app."...
Seriously guys, you don't think I haven't already tried this?
All assistance is greatly appreciated!
Hi I am using 3x4 keyboard my self and I am very satisfied with it except that if I have to type the word "common" I would have to wait for the underline to disappear which is expected for a 3x4 keyboard. But i have no problem with space (i have prediction turned off)
hi did you find answers to this? driving me nuts too!

Hi,
I have been searching for about 2 days for a solution to my problem (my and of many others):
There are several XT9 support packages on the web, but none of them seems to work on Polaris.
I have tried "all" of them. Various languages, various combinations.
Even in this Polaris forum are some not functional packages posted.
The installation was successful, but pressing any character would type numbers only.
Uninstalling the installed package got me always back and repaired the problem.
I am looking for Slovak pack, but I have seen people from all over Europe facing the same problem.
If someone has a solution please post it here.
Have a day!

At least LIE to us and say you used the search function. But you didnt... (see attachment).
There is no solution available. It doesnt seem to work, I suggest you flash one of the custom ROMs around or wait for a Slovak one.

Thank you for accusing me of lies... You know it probably better if I have searched or not.
They guys in the thread you have mentioned talk about T9.
Isn't there a "slight" difference between T9 and XT9?
I am getting confused of all tips that do not work. (One of them on the first page of sticky thread "HTC Polaris tweaks and tricks #17".)
You are the first one to say "There is no solution available." I'll settle with that for now.
Thank you for responding.

Freaky keybrd
I've the same problem. Time-to-time htc keyboard refuses to print something except numbers. My solving is to quit the application in which I try to print, and launch it again. Everything goes ok at second time, but this situation confuses me a lot.
I liked my orbit 1 t9 key pad which i found on this forum however it doesn't work on the orbit 2. I’m finding the HTC one very hard to use.
Oh no buddy, you got me wrong. Please check again, I said you SHOULD have lied, not that you did It's just quite obvious you know, there are 2 threads, almost the same subject, covering the same topic, and like right above each other (this is an unedited screenshot, thats why)...
xT9 is the successor of T9 and it's the only form of text prediction available on the Polaris. There is no T9 anymore. xT9 is supposed to be better, more advanced, but all I see is user complaining. Obviously Tegic (the inventors) didnt do a very good job in making it better and more advanced... Kind of like Microsoft all the time
Sorry for the missunderstanding then.
I apologise for starting what is, in many ways, an 'I'm a noob, help me!' thread but I have put some effort into researching each of these topics but I'm still left with questions, so I thought I'd just lay everything out there and see if anyone can help me.
Firstly, sometimes when I start to write a text message, the first character disappears. It shows on-screen for maybe half a second, then it's as if I've hit backspace and it gets deleted.
It's really odd, it only happens from time-to-time and so far I've not been able to discern any sort of pattern to this behaviour - it doesn't seem to be specific to certain contacts, nor does it seem to matter whether it's a new text or a reply that I'm writing. It's just completely random.
I've searched on this forum, checked HTC's hotfixes and kept an eye out on other fora I frequent that have anything to do with the Touch HD but so far I haven't seen anything about this.
Secondly, I've been trying to find a calender application that will allow me to enter 'rules'.
Basically, the hours I work depend on the day of the week but I work different days week-to-week. So what I was hoping for was to be able to program in a 'rule' that defines what constitutes 'work', depending on which day of the week it is and have it so that an alarm or multiple alarms go off a set period before the time I start work each day (to wake me up). Anyway, by having this pre-set rule, I was hoping that when a new rota becomes available at work, I would just be able to mark which days I was working and the calendar would automatically work out the hours etc.
I'm not sure if this is something most calendar apps are capable of or if it's a feature that just doesn't exist but so far my attempts to search for this have been fruitless, though maybe that's down to my choice of keywords or something...
In third place, what is, in all probability a fairly common question about syncing text/SMS messages to your PC. I have looked into this, I swear but there seems to be a lot of contradictory information out there, not to mention when I search the site, I seem to end up reading a lot of threads that are 2, 3 or even 5 years old.
This might sound a little sad but this plave is one of few fora where I can have a question and when I look or ask for an answer, I feel completely lost. So I suppose what I'm hoping for is for someone to come along, take me by the metaphorical hand and show me the solution suitable for half-blind, retarded chimpanzees, as I might just about be able to follow that...
Last up, I was wondering if anyone was aware of any Shoogle-like programs for the HD.
I've come across 'VibraNotify' by way of this thread, which I will be testing out soon but in case it doesn't quite do what I want, if there's anything similar out there that anyone's aware of, I'd appreciate the heads-up.
I really am sorry to waste people's time with questions like these.
I wish I could find all the necessary answers myself but, as I say, for some of them I can't seem to find any information and for others, I've found far too much.
I will be extremely grateful towards anyone who takes pity on me and is able to help out in any way, no matter how small.
Thanks.
Addressing your second question.
I am a long time user of Pocket Informant currently in version 8 and available for purchase or download a time limited trial at http://www.pocketinformant.com/
You can set up different "work" times for each day of the week.
Regards.
Ed
for the first point of your question, I also had some problems too with keyboard input so that maybe sometimes I wanted to type m and it actually pressed a (not exactly a common typo!)
I noticed that after a screen calibration problems were solved
start/settings/system/screen/Align screen button
hope it helps
alternatively, I can confirm that with Davideuck's v-5 and dutty's xtreme v1.9 ROMs I have never had typing problems

don't feel too bad, these are pretty advanced topics that i have not seen covered here
Regarding point 3;
as far as i know you can't sync SMS, tho you can back it up with PIM Backup
there is also MyPhone currently Beta
I just installed Windows Mobile 6.5 onto my T-Mobile TouchPro2. Now, the old, default windows mobile on-screen keyboard is gone. I know I'm probably one of the last people in the world who still uses it, but I use it because it doesn't take up a lot of screen room and I use the stylus a lot anyway for a lot of my applications.
Does anyone know how to get this keyboard back? Is there a cab file somewhere of the default windows mobile 6.1 keyboard I can download? If it's not possible, does anyone know of another option for a keyboard that is meant to be used for the stylus and is relatively small?

google "tmobile touch pro 2 screen keyboard sip" search search search before u post
I did the search you suggested to dshersze --"tmobile touch pro 2 screen keyboard sip" and all that came up is this page. I can confirm that the standard windows mobile keyboard has been removed from T-Mobile's latest ROM, and I've done a good bit of searching online without finding a .CAB for that ol' standard keyboard, or a way to tweak T-Mobile's new WM 6.5 ROM to activate it. So dshersze's questions seems reasonable, and not deserving of a "search before u post" admonition. akademik_acheeba, if you know where there's a page that explains how to fix this issue, could you post a link to it?
Thanks, Alan
so after 2 mins of searching for an onscreen keyboard for TP2 or WVGA in general, these are your options:

p.s. what ROM are you using? is it the official TMo that came out today(not the leaked) or are you using one of the xda chefs? if it is from xda then this question belongs in that ROMs thread.
I am not missing my onscreen keyboard in the 6.5 TMOUS ROM, it is there as it has always been, maybe you shoudl reflash
I can confirm that the default WM Keyboard(the one that looks like a full keyboard and is really only suitable for stylus input or for people with microscopic fingers) is absent from the new 6.5 update (both leaked and official). To check this, pull up your SIP and enter the input options menu.
Here is what I use along with my options...
Thanks for the screenshots- they show that you do not have the SIP in question either. My guess is that someone decided that it wasn't a popular input method, however, I can see where this might be a preferred keyboard for stylus intensive input or for access to keys not found in most SIPs.
The T-Mobile 6.1 *Official* ROM called this SIP "Keyboard", and on the 6.5 *Official* ROM it has been replaced by "Transcriber" which on 6.1 was found under "Other Input Methods".
I wish people wouldn't be so eager to attack a legitimate posting without a clear understanding of what is being addressed. I think that most of us make a genuine attempt at searching for answers prior to creating a thread, but it seems like there are some that are just waiting to pounce without hesitation to accuse someone of not following forum rules. Give me a break, I know that not everyone here is an adult, but attacking someone with the insinuation that they did not do a proper search seems to have become far too common and does nothing to help anyone. Why not assume that a thorough search has already been attempted and rather than providing an admonishment and a slew of links (that I doubt had anything to do with the issue at hand) provide a reasonable explanation or solution along with those links? In my opinion, this is what these forums are for: a valuable resource of information and advice.

Score one for civility. We must remember that not everyone speaks English as a first language. In addition you can't search for something if you don't know the key words to look for. Everyone describes his/her issue differently. Just look at how akademik changed the terms he suggested when he posted his links. It seems that it would have been easier and better for the forum, if someone had simply posted a link to the solution. On another note, it is a great idea to use tags when creating new threads.

I agree with Treo, points for civility. Especially because the other guy who attacked the OP didn't even post any links relevant to what the OP was looking for. All I saw in those links were Finger Keyboards, and HTC keyboards.
OP wants the default WINMO 6.0/6.1 keyboard, with the tiny keys that, while only good for use with a stylus, is excellent for odd symbols. Like | for messing with the Manilla Weather editors.
Unfortunately I don't have information for the OP, as it seems likely that as many people have not liked that keyboard, support for it is all but gone.
The new keyboard function "Swype" has a pretty good symbol list to choose from.
Here's the thread for the TP2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=597337
I guess I did have some info after all... I guess that's something.
as much as i help people on here via posts or pm's, no one knows how to use the search dropbox at the top or even google their issue to see if other wm sites have info on it. you heard about xda from tmo.com and now you come here for everyone to magically solve all your issues. all you people want is to point, click, download, install and be on your merry way...so stop being lazy, people here spend alot of time developing and perfecting things and if one lil issue goes wrong then yall complain. google what you want, and help others. as i see you guys posted here and not one of you have helped the issue but rather complained that i said search...oh well ill say it again...SEARCH
I like Swype, but anther decent SIP that I think is well worth trying is Finger Keyboard. One problem I have had is that some 3rd party SIPs will prevent my Rhodium from booting forcing hard-reset, but both Swype and Finger Keyboard work fine. One feature that I like in Finger Keyboard is the ability to assign text to a key such as an email address or password and it can switch between different languages without leaving the panel.
A way to bring back the default keyboard ...
Check this out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4843610. It requires a registry hack, but it does work.
I'm not sure why no one likes a stylus anymore, but I prefer the precision that it buys me as well as the ability to draw on the screen. The old keyboard also has a CTRL key which allows me to cut and pasted from any application (even those without a press-and-hold context menu). I don't understand the desire to emulate the iPhone with capacitive touch screens but poor precision. If I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one.

LOL! Spot on!
This is brilliant. You don't want to know how long I've been looking for a way to get the old keyboard back! Everyone seems to want keyboards that are bigger and can be used without a stylus - but I hate having the keyboard take over more than half my screen. This is an elegant solution! Thank you for posting it!
Edit - Rats! It says it can't initialize SIP CLSIDs for stylus status. Does the TP2 not have any way of telling whether the stylus is in or not? Grrr. So close, but I guess I have to keep on searching...

Looking for small Stylus friendly Keyboard
have an HTC Touch Diamond 2 with WM6.5. Since I have it I am not happy with the big keybord. Using the stylus very often, even with the big keyboard. But this takes so much space, even on my old Touch Cruise with QVGA I have more space thanks to the small keyboard.
How and where can i get a working CAB with the small keyboard from WM6.1 ?
Think it must be that in this picture.
Hi just recently joined this site and well i just wanted to ask ppl some of the questions about my HTC HD2 and see if these are standard things witch most of ppl have or maybe just me. So here is the list of wonderful things that my hd2 does to me:
1. Ghost finger: randomly swaps an app, loads them, when using a quick select links it some times jumps to the other one.
2. Twitching: almost in every app where i use touch controls it would start well twitching. Mainly moving up and down, but now sideways to YAY!
3.Lock: there is no lock on my HD2 i had it for about 4h(since the purchase) then it gone, and no i didn't change any settings.
4.Mail:My mail app doesn't work, I can only view the Mail but i cannot open it. In order for me to open the mail i have to load up the actual mail from the start menu.
5. Keyboard: ohh this is one of the once that make me whanna throw this phone in to the wall sometimes. Basically when i type sometimes when i lift my finger away from the screen after pressing a letter it moves on to a near by letters and types them up. It ether around or to the side up to 4 letters. Therefore making txting practically impossible.(i do have big fingers but that doesn't change a thing, i had 5 ppl sitting down on it typing and all of them had the same problem)
6. final and my favorite is the fact now it randomly slows down. no idea why!(did have NET 3.5 installed and removed. didn't help)
So if u guys could help me get a solution to find a way to fix these that would be awesome cause this is the best phone i had and i just hate these small things which make it a living hell. (Also i am getting a replacement soon so i was just hoping that i wont have the same issues with my new HTC HD2 so thx for helping.)
Hello and welcome to the forum,
First off please alter your thread title to something more amenable else there's a whole host of people who won't bother to help you!.
To solve your problems start of by reading this thread ...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638 then look at the thread below it (The Q& A one).
Implement the solutions in those threads. Use this link ...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all to search this site for things you might need, e.g BSB Tweaks.
Good luck and keep at it.

Basically there are no fixes for the major problems.
Welcome to my nightmare.
I've searched and I've searched and so far I haven't found a serious blogging solutions compatible with something like blogger. Right now I can use moblog, but it hasn't been updated in about 3 years. hyperlinking, tagging, and a bunch of other stuff escape me with it. does anybody have something they use? if it is site specific please let me know what sites as well. Thanks.
---
I've used that. The only thing is how do you deal with inserting hyperlinks? do you send the email as an html file? do you send it then add the hyperlinks after the fact? do you send a doc file? If I have to edit it after the fact it seems unfortunate, because editing posts on blogger through mobile web browsers sucks as far as I can tell. The only other problem is I occasionally had to wait a few hours for the post to appear on blogger and that made it difficult to know when it would be editable.
---
I was really hoping there would be more developers interested in something like this. From a hardware standpoint, There has yet to be another keyboard nearly as comfortable as the current round of winmo sliders. I hate blackberry keyboards, and most if not all of the androids with keyboards have questionable spacing. To me it is this that holds Winmo back, the lack of modern developer enthusiasm.
