Wacom Bamboo Touch Graphics Tablet CTT-460 Question - Windows 8 General

Are these any good for replacing a Mouse/Touchpad in Windows 8 i.e get all the same multi touch features as using a touchscreen or are they just a glorified Touchpad?

They are not intended for use as a mouse at all. I don't think they support gestures at all, nor do they left/right click in a normal way.
They are for pressure sensitive drawing in supported software only. You can't use them effectively as a mouse replacement and I am not sure why anyone would want to seeming as they require a stylus (they aren't touch sensitive to your finger, only a wacom stylus)
EDIT
Seems unlike most tablets it will recognise fingers and act as a mouse. But it is not intended for this usage. It is a drawing tablet for artists, not a mouse.

I was going by the description on this website http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Wacom-Bamboo-Touch-Graphics-Tablet-CTT-460/version.asp, as they make it out to be a Mouse/Touchpad replacement.

Using an alternate (wacom) pen?

hi guys,
hopefully this thread is in the right place, if not i apologise!
I'm an artist, and one of the primary reasons for getting my note was the pressure sensitive stylus. after doing some research i found out that it was made by wacom, which is even more awesome.
now, wacom make their stylus's to have the pressure sensitivity built into the pen, and the tracking built into the pad/screen. so with that in-mind, i was wondering if it's possible (in theory) to use say... an intuos pen on a galaxy note, and benefit from the increased pressure sensitivity?
i'm aware, after trying it myself, that simply using the pen on the screen doesn't work... that's fine. so what kind of effort would it take to make it work? has anyone already got it working or even tried?
cheers!

I can confirm the pen from a x201 thinkpad tablet works with my note.

Hi,
A similar thread exists and lists pens that are known to work and not work with our Notes, hopefully you can find your answer here:

I use a Wacom pen from an old notebook I have, the Thinkpad X61T. I am not an artist however,I use it to take notes and the pressure sensitivity works really well. I would recommend that you download infinite painter from the market to see how well the pressure sensitivity works for drawing.
I tried a few Wacom pens with no luck, though I have heard of people getting good results. In the end, I just ponied up for the official S-pen holder kit, which is great. It's much easier to draw and write with the normal sized pen. IF you don't mind parting with the $50, it may be exactly what you're looking for.

thanks for the link, will take a look through it in a minute or so.
what i'm looking for is a boost in sensitivity. the s-pen only has something like 128 levels of sensitivity, my intuos has 2048 which is a huuuuge difference.
I try Cintiq pen,no luck.I heardthats works.

I believe only Wacom styli meant for Tablet PC's work with the Note. The Penabled kind.
I have tried the original Thinkpad X220 tablet pen and another Wacom Tablet PC pen (there are several variants available) and both work well with the Note. However, I have not noticed any difference between them and the original Note stylus.

Galaxy Tab™ Conductive Stylus

Does N10 support Galaxy Tab™ Conductive Stylus ? Or are there any other similar input pens available for N10? I im a college student and it will be awesome if i could write my notes directly on tab

It should work without any issue. If you register your tablet on Samsung's site, you'll also get a 50% discount code off any accessory (the pen itself went down to $7.49 I think after discount; but $3 in shipping).
The N10 is a capacitive screen, so technically any stylus for capacitive screens should work fine Just note though that any pen that requires a Digitizer (Wacom) or anything like a S-Pen won't work.
As Espionage said.
As for the note 10.1 pen, it will not work properly as in how it works on the Note. The Note has a different type of screen (inductive instead of capacitive) and it has special hardware and software to allow for the pen to register but not your hand when drawing or taking notes, and to register different amounts of pressure from the pen. The Nexus 10 will not work like this and if you touch the pen and your hand to the screen, both touches will register.
I can confirm that the stylus does not work on the N10. I tried using a coworkers stylus yesterday and it didn't register any touch with the stylus. Even downloaded some notes app that said it worked with a stylus and got nothing.

Galaxy Tab or Note stylus?
I'm using a targus rubber tip stylus pin and I like it but it's only taking the place of my finger when messing around. If I want to draw something or take notes I use my note 2.

Best stylus for drawing?

What's the best stylus for drawing on the nexus 4?
I don't like the squidgy tip ones as they seem to be fairly bad and not very precise or responsive so I want something that's good

I don't think you are going to be very happy with any stylus on the Nexus 4. It has much less touch sensitivity then a typical tablet, something I prefer with a phone, but styluses take a lot of pressure with it and are not very comfortable to use.

I couldn't agree more.
Invest in a Galaxy Note tablet if you want to use a stylus for drawing.

Yup thats the only kind of stylus you get for a phone with usual capacitive screen
So I need a tablet to, shame u can't plug in a wacom tablet into the phone lol
Is there no good capacitive styluses then?

What I would give for this keyboard on this device

I am testing a MS Surface Pro 3 at the moment. What a great keyboard. I wish Samsung or anyone would create a Keyboard Touchpad combination. There is a lot to like about the Surface but I prefer the Note for Note taking. If it just had a slim keyboard with a trackpad I would never need my MacBook Air...
Just wishful thinking.

That would be cool, but the Surface 3 is a very different critter than the Note Pro... I really like the Logitech keyboard (alas, no touchpad ) and it has turned my NP 12.2 into a serious enough productivity tool for me to retire my laptop. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot, it might be enough to not miss the touchpad.

Doesn't the touchscreen eliminate the need for a touch pad?

Yes it does but with a keyboard attached it is more fluid to usa a touchpad while you are typing rather than reaching up to touch the screen. If this wasn't the case then we wouldn't see touchpads on 99% of all Windows 8 touch screen laptops/tablets as they would just skip the touchpad to make the keyboard a little more roomy.
Yeah, a good keyboard dock would do wonders for the productivity side of things. The Logitech one is probably the best, but it's still limited. Only one angle, bulky, adds noticable weight, etc. I liked the SP3 way better in that regards. I suppose you get what you pay for.
But if you stick with usual tablet functions (i.e. media consumption) and don't try to do any serious or heavy productivity tasks, the GNP 12 isn't bad at all.

I find it much more efficient to keep my hands in one spot. The SGN 12.2 with Hankok Office is very close to make this a true office device.
I was considering getting a keyboard case when i ordered the Note Pro, but then it arrived and i used it... the full size on screen keyboard in landscape mode works just as well as a physical keyboard..... im glad i didnt blow another $100 on a keyboard case
I know what you mean. I like the keyboard on the surface pro. Though I like the logitech keyboard for galaxy note. However I started to notice something. Never am out and about and think to my self I really need todo some serious typing where I need the keyboard. Every time I have come across a need for a keyboard I have been at a desk where I can setup keyboard/ mouse etc.
My point here is I have never felt the need to have a key board with me, if im out and need to jot something down, I write with the spen, or use the handwrite to text. Not once has that failed me. I quite enjoy it.
So at home if im writting a paper for class or work. I use my old mac bluetooth magic mouse and keyboard. Works like a charm. :good:
Coming from an Asus Transformer, I do occasionally miss my solid adjustable keyboard dock with touchpad, full-usb and SD slot. (see why I'm not impressed with the one on the Surface?)
Bought myself a Logitech K810 keyboard, M705 mouse (over USB OTG) and a Belkin Flipblade Adjust. More stuff, but more flexibility. What's one more thing in a 15" bag?
You can use USB OTG with the Logitech Nano receivers, by the way. There are a few Logitech semi-full keyboards with touchpad that work over Nano Recievers.

Pen input inconsistent

I have been using the SM-P580 primarily for note taking with the s-pen. In the past I have had good results with various apps, including Quill and Write (and Write Beta). I am using both the stock (but rooted) as well as the lite version of japinder's ROM.
Frequently, the pen touches simply do not register. I have confirmed that the S Pen power saver is not on. It seems to be that touches have something to do with palm rejection, as the non-registered pen touches usually occur when my hand is wresting on the screen.
i don't have these issues when I use the same apps on my Samsung Note 5, so expect it has something to do with my hardware or the driver software.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?
I've mainly been using the Wacom Bamboo pen. Had no problem with palm rejection or unregistered touches. Highly recommend it http://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/stylus/bamboo-smart-for-samsung-galaxy-note
Also, just on case it is this simple, make sure that any magnets in a case are not getting too close to the unit (folded around the back for instance) as they will stop the pen working around where the magnet is.
