you have to get root first (I use ExynosAbuse) and then install CWMR, after you have done that, download an AOSP ROM zip with gapps, make sure the ROM ZIP has a kernel in it so it will be automatically flashed. Boot to recovery and then wipe data, cache and dalvik. Flash the ROM, then the Gapps, reboot and there"

if you can see an app called Superuser or something similar, your phone is rooted
for root, you should find a root file that you can flash it via Odin and it's suitable for your rom (i9000zsjpj).
this one is suitable for JVB rom so if you want to use this file you must flash an JVB rom to your device first. seems like it contains CWM recovery inside
http://www.mediafire.com/download/heshahvrrtzqeav/CF-Root-XW_XEE_JVB-v3.1-CWM3RFS.tar
ROM i9000XWJVB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12944588
once you have CWM, boot to recovery pressing volume up + home + power
choose install zip from sdcard
of course you must have a flashable ROM that you want to flash on your sdcard first
this is where you get official CyanogenMod ROMs for your i9000:
http://get.cm/?device=galaxysmtd
I think CM is the best ROM for all the devices it supports with a lot of awesome features remember to choose CM10.1 for Android 4.2.2 or CM10.2 for Android 4.3.
hope this mess helps... because my English is bad as hell

miui
I recommend that you go to http://miuiandroid.com/community/
from there just select the type of miui you want and there should be instructions. You can also google "MIUI <country name>" for more country/language oriented versions of it. Installations of MIUI will usually root your device by default so you don't have to mess around with it.
Hope that helps.
Can any one give me detatiled instruction ??

Flash stock ginger bread rom through odin. Then flash a kernel (cf-root for example) through odin. Now you have cwm recovery. Copy the zip file of ics rom (I recommend aokp rom by bhuvan) to the phone. Go into recovery and do full wipe and flash the rom.zip. If you end up into bootloops then open recovery again, do full wipe and flash the zip file again.
Really, 'HI'?.....go to Facebook dude, xda is for nOObs and trolls only and yeah also those weird people......mhmmmm......mhhhmmmm...me . ≈_≈

Once you flash the cf-root kernel the cwm is installed automatically. For links, go to android development section and find the threads for each particular thing.
every thing is avalable...you just need to search

Helo guys,
Most of you might have eagerly downloaded the leaked firmware and anxiously flashed the rom last night. But might have been stuck at getting root.
CAUTION: Flashing CF root or Some other version of Siyah Kerne will soft brick the device ending up at Boot screen.
Ok now.!! Root is now avaiable through PhilZ CWM v3.1 kernel.
This is a just a guide to those searching for root and ending up in bricks flashing old cf roots and siyah kernels.
1) Download the zip fie from the link given at the end of post.
2) Put it on to the SD Card
3) Switch off ur Phone.
4) Enter Stock Recovery by pressing Power+Home+Vol.up buttons at once and hold.
5)Now flash the zip by selecting Install zip from SDCard.
6) Reboot and Enjoy the Rooted Awesome Jellybean firmware on galaxy s2

Good to know. Could you please provide step-by-step detail. I have JB 4.1.2 XXLSJ installed on the GT-I9100. I tried ODIN v1.85 and 3.04 but it does not take the Philz CWM 3.1 zip file. It looks for tar, smd, md5, gz, tgz. What steps do I need to take to make this file work with ODIN?

How to disable PhilZ CWM and get back stock Recovery
Hi all
I bought a Defy second hand, and turns out it is Chinese retail. OTA update does not work. I am unfamiliar with SBF flashing.
So, at the moment, I am stuck at Eclair 2.1update1. GooManager and RomManager both need GB. Since I cannot update it, I think I will flash a stock ROM. Which one can I do it with?
Is it like a custom ROM, where it is compatible with many versions? For example, can I flash Australian retail firmware? Or do I have to flash a GB China firmware. In which case, which version is it?
(Sorry for wonky image, since screenshot wouldn't catch either. Been one of those days)
You cab flash Australian Froyo using RSD.
Is pretty simple, Download SBF for Australian Froyo, Install RSD and drivers, Run RSD, select sbf in RSD, Make sure Defy is detected by RSD, Hit Flash. After it says reboot phone manually goto recovery(Power+Volume Down) and do a data wipe ( IMPORTANT! ) And you will have Froyo, then you can root and use 2ndinit to get custom recovery.

I've been trying to hold off on rooting my new GS4, but after a few weeks, the bug finally bit me. I got the custom recovery installed, and I installed SuperSU from withing the recovery, but due to some update errors when I rebooted, I never have gained root with the factory ROM. To be honest though, I don't care if I have root in the factory ROM, I just want to wipe the facory ROM and get CM onto my new device. Since I have a custom recovery, can I just say **** it and wipe and install the latest CM nightly, or is it absolutely imperative that I gain root in the factory ROM before I wipe and install a custom ROM?

Maybe it'd be more accurate to say that I can't get SuperSU working. I used Odin to flash a custom recovery, booted into custom recovery, flashed SuperSU, rebooted, but instead of launching SuperSU first, I updated SuperSU through Google Play. I then ran SuperSU and it couldn't install the binaries, realizing that I probably shouldn't have updated SuperSU before running it first, I uninstalled the update, then ran SuperSU, but it still cannot install the needed binaries, and since I was never able to get SuperSU working properly in the first place, I cannot gain access to /system to remove the SuperSU apk and try again. So I'm hoping that since I don't even care about TouchWIZ, I just want to get CM up and running, I can just boot into recovery, wipe everything and then flash CM.
I don't think you can do that without bonking ur phone need to get and cf root so it will install the root binaries on ur phone SuperSU will work without ur running cf root it will not work that's why ur getting the error can't install binaries that's cuz ur not rooted

Ok, thanks. I'll give that a shot. Is it going to cause a problem though that I've already flashed SuperSU, or will CF-Auto-Root just overwrite.
And on an unrelated topic, I've seen multiple times now while researching rooting the GS4 people saying to make a special backup of the efs folder to backup your IMEI info. I've rooted many devices now (Nexus One, Epic 4G Touch, Captivate, One X, original Galaxy Tab for Sprint) and I've never seen mention of making a special backup of the efs folder. Is this something new for LTE devices or what?

Awesome, that worked like a charm, but since that uses a stock recovery, I now need to get a custom recovery back onto the device, and that's easy. However, I remember when I first got my Epic 4G Touch, if I wanted to flash a custom ROM, I had to first extract the kernel out of the ROM, flash the ROM, then flash the kernel, then reboot. Eventually this was fixed so all you had to do what just flash the ROM and reboot and you were good to go. Will I need to flash the kernel separately with this phone as well?
