Hi, I installed the kt kernell. the only reason why I installed it was so i culd get fas charging support, so I could charge my phone while using it with my appradio. I never used the overclocking part, or any other feature in that kernell. After a while I tried to update to MF9, follow the official mf9 thread, (flash noobl zip, flash kernel file and then flash rom file.) It all seemed to work, but in the phone info screen everything shows the right version exceot the kernell part. i have attached a screenshot. After that i tried downgrading to mdkl, and same thing. kernell version still shows the same thing. any help will appreciated. thanks
That kernel you are on is stock

Is that what the kernel info is supposed to say? I ask because while i Had the MF9 stock Rom it said the exact same thing., and I figured It should said MDL or MF9 somewhere in it.
yep its what it is supposed to say, doesn't specifically say MDL or MF9 in it.
thanks, i thought I did something wrong and screwed my phone up. I appreciate your time.

Baseband has to do with MDL and MF9. Kernel is different. While you still need to know if your baseband is MDL or MF9 for choosing a kernel, the kernel itself isn't really dependant on the baseband.

The baseband and build should (if you're on stock, at least)
I don't see the software anywhere (sorry, I'm on CM, not stock)

I've never had a single reboot with this phone on ANY rom, TW or AOSP, MDL or MF9. MF9 has given me zero issues and in fact runs much better than MDL for me.
Just my 2 cents.

I'm on Sacs rom with stock kernel, and I have never ever had one random reboot, hell I've not had any reboots on any of the roms I've tried before settling on Sacs rom. you must have some other issues at play here, have you tweaked w/e kernel your on? sometimes kernel tweaks are more harm than good if you change setting you're not familiar with, have you tried the stock kernel?

I'm on stock MF9 deodexed rooted never had a reboot. Only time I had reboots was when I set my voltages too low lol.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Just the default factory reset in TWRP (a lot of people will tell you to wipe system as well, but I've never found that to be necessary).

Today I was messing with my phone and decide to download 4.3. I had forgotten that I rooted my phone a few days back so I ended up doing the OTA update without taking root off. Now my WiFi isn't working, I restarted my phone and that did fix it. I like to know if there is a fix for this?

Okay. Tried to flash the MJA Modem and Kernel through Odin and was getting the bad binary error. Just installed the KT Kernel for 4.3 TW and I'm still getting a similar issue. WiFi is just stuck on turning on but never fully gets there.. Any ideas??? Another kernel perhaps?

Question is HOW did you 'get it'?
What is your current ROM and how did you get/install that?
I got the modem from the tri force rom, i was on a mf9 stock rom, it got changed to mk2. My current rom is slim bean 4.3 2.2 final, and i got it from the official site
Try going to a stock MK2 ROM to see if that fixes your issue.

You could not have gotten the modem from a ROM. It is not included in any of them. If you are flashing some 4.3 ROMs without using Odin to update the modem, you could run into issues.

Honestly, i tried using odin to update my modem but everytime it'd fail when i tried, so i gave up, but when i downloaded the tri force rom that's based on mk2 for some odd reason it said my baseband was now mk2, so i thought it did it automatically, but now no matter what rom i go to, whether it be jelly bean or kitkat based ones the phone apk lags, freezes up, and messes up everytime

You must be on the MK2 modem for Wifi to work on that ROM. Redownload the modem .tar from Unknownforce's thread in development and Odin it in. Sometimes it takes a few tries for it to stick. Just make sure to run Odin as administrator and put the modem .tar in the phone slot.

Can someone help me take my S4 back to 4.3? I got the OTA update for 4.4 yesterday morning and have had nothing but problems. Terrible battery life (40% down in 3 hours with little to no use) WiFi wont turn on thanks to this piece of junk Knox software. So before I dump Samsung completely for a Moto X or Nexus, can someone help me downgrade from 4.4 back to 4.3 where I had no problems?
Were you totally stock before the OTA? If you still have warranty left, I would bring it in to a Sprint store and *****.
If not, you can try one of 2 things. 1) flash the NAE tar file using odin to see if that fixes your issues or 2) flash the MK2 tar file to bring you back to 4.3

I went Cyanogen at one point, didn't like it, and flashed back to stock. When the OTA hit I was rooted but had made no changes from stock, not even an uninstall of a Samsung app. I am backing things up now to flash the NAE again, but I want a version without this Knox garbage in it. Is there such thing?
I read that you can't flash back with Odin from 4.4 to 4.3 so I don't know how to do option 2 at this point.

Yeah, I think you are right. Can't go back to 4.3 once you have the 4.4 bootloader, my bad. I wonder if you should do a factory reset to see if that clears up your issues.

But honestly, if you root 4.4, your gonna void KNOX.

You're saying your bootloader went back to MK2 after this? Didn't think that was possible. I've had nothing but stupid little issues myself after using Odin to flash the phone to NAE. I've done factory resets... Completely wiped the phone in Philz. Tried KToonsez kernel as well and stock NAE just sux! I'll probably just flash Liquid Smooth back on it, was only trying to stick with stock NAE for stability and camera , that phone is my girls and she doesn't have the patience for all the bugs that come with custom Roms lol
Anyways just want to confirm that with you. Thanks

I don't know if that is possible for those of us rocking triband. Obviously we cannot use the Mk2 modem or rom. In any event, I upgraded to 4.4.2 on my new L720T and regretted it, but now I'v" managed to install twrp and rooted it and the rom settled down after a few days. At first, horrible battery use but now its amazing. My battery reads 75 percent after 14 hours and that's quite good enough. The only issue I still face is the SD card thing, but that only seems to apply third party software as I can move files directly from internal to external memory using the stock files app that comes with android.
i dont know about triband. i dont have one and im not going to pretend im a smart dev because thats also not true.. i HAVE ODIN 4.4.2 THEN turned around and ODIN 4.3 due to something i didnt like...im not sure if it changes the bootloader or not, i dont even check. i have only tried this with mk2 to nae.. when i purchesed my device it came with mk2 so i have never tinkerd with the other bootloaders. if you have something other then mk2 id ask a dev befor doing anything. like i said it works for me as long as i flash the modem FIRST that corrisponds to the build. ( mk2 or nae )...and in some cases if the wifi is borked on nae, iv had to flash the modem again after instalation of the rom.. i cant explain why any of this happens....

But that's interesting you can go back to mk2 after being on nae. I figured that was not possible. But if you didn't get any fails in Odin while downgrading that's great. Maybe I'll get ballsy and try this later.

Okay, go to your phone dialer, and dial ##rtn# (##786#), that will pull up the RTN screen, select view, then tell me what it says your SW version, OS version, Radio version and baseband versions are. Even though in about phone it says NAE, Ive found when I had sound issues due to an incorrect radio version "About Phone" doesnt always display accurate info, but ##RTN# always does. always, where did you get the NAE modem you flashed? when I flashed my first NAE rom, about phone said I was all NAE, but RTN showed that my radio and baseband were still MJA, which is why I had no sound, among other problems.
If in the RTN you see conflicting software or radio/issues ect, depending on whether you have already or don't care about tripping KNOX, just revert to a MJA or MK2 based custom rom, like a stock rooted 4.3 unodexed, then flash Unknownforce's NAE modem/firmware, then flash whatever Kit Kat rom you desire. I've had tons of sound/wifi issues arise by not flashing the NAE modem before the rom. Or just flash the stock .tar for NAE, root, rinse and repeat.
