Hello guys. I am having a problem with Google now in my nexus 4. I had a galaxy nexus where I could say to Google now play/listen to queen and it will appear the option to play songs on my phone from queen. And if I don't have any it just opens the YouTube app to play the songs. So I tried it now but it just appear a Google search. All other actions work fine like directions, set alarms, ask about stuff, but for songs is not working anymore. I have all three apps updated to the last version. So anyone is having the same problem?
Thanks in advance.

Wiped Google Now cache and data?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
Yes. And entered again and made all that initial setup. And tried to play a song but nothing happened, just a Google search. Is it working to you? I saw some people with this problem.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
Try doing "Play [Song Here]".
It works fine here.
You have to type the name of the song not the artist and then it will appear in the search area in the other half of the screen or after searching.

I tried with no success. This is what happens

It was working fine for me too a while ago and then suddenly stopped working after one of last updates. Maybe it's only working for US residents?
Not really one to talk to my phone, but just tested and it works here -- US.
Don't get the option for youtube but I do get play music, play store, and pandora.
Hmm, mine stopped working too. I don't use this often but I remember when Google Now first got released it was working for me.
You're using an older command. If you say "listen to" then the song, it may start working.
I had the same issue and switching commands seems to have worked.

I have the same problem it is on a samsung galaxy s4
You need to be in the right country
My work's wifi IP looks like it comes from the US. "Listen to x" works there, but not at home. I think that may be the issue.
Edit: I just tried it with my VPN service, and it started working again. It really looks like it filters by IP.
It took me a while to figure out what was going on. But, this solution worked for me. Check it out at http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1rislc/how_do_i_make_google_now_play_music_on_nexus_5/
Google should make it more noticeable about what we needed to do to set Play Music as the default action for this.

Absolutely everything I do in the play store gives me a connection error. The next time I retry it works fine. Example: I click buy app, connection error, click buy app again it goes through. Anyone else have this issue is there a fix?

The play store app data? I will that mess anything up?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
No it doesn't. Basically your deleting whatever data cache the playstore has collected. It won't delete your apps, history or anything. Its like starting fresh.
So after you delete Data go back to playstore and you will see this...

It's probably a wakelock. Use BetterBatteryStats to check what cause it.
Maps is continuously using 10% battery power on my s4 and I haven't even started maps yet, Google now probably uses it but don't know how to turn it off
edit: as I'm looking at the screen shot that I just uploaded I notice that the information about the battery life is incorrect i usualy last a day on a charge like this.

I think it might be the google play. Since the new version 4.0.25 I've seen drain like this when I left the app open in the memory. Maybe this is the problem.
Click the blue google icon
open it
click settings
and you can switch Google Now off from within there
Interestingly enough, I've heard a lot of iPhone users complaining about battery drainage with the Google Now as well!
There are a few gremlins at the moment, I've had a 32 minute audio wake lock despite the phone being silent on my desk and my cpu got stuck at 1350mhz for over an hour.
Both problems solved by clearing the apps via the task manager so maybe it's an app doing similar.

Quite simply maps is running or you have Google now tracking you. Probably have locating settings to use your phone and Wi-Fi to determine where you are. Turn them off
Sent from the mind of Galactus
I had google services kill my battery. It only happened once but on that day it took 63% of my battery
if maps keeps draining you battery try this:
maps->settings->locations settings-> and take off "report from this device"
i had this problem on GS3
Got the problem now too, all sync and location based stuff are off and it still happens. Android really sucks when these things happen.. will report back If I solve it.
I had the same problem but now i don't get the battery drain anymore. I deactivated google now by holding the "settings" button(the left softkey). There you can deactivate google now
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
I updated Google Services to the latest update through the play store and the drain has stopped.
Google Now/Maps causes huge wakelocks, as every so often it checks where you are to give you location based information, or record your location history.
If you don't need this information, turn all the options off in Map settings like someone above suggeste.

Care to elaborate? I see that Google Maps is available for updated [bug fixes] so I assume that's what you are talking about.

There are a couple of threads covering this issue. Solutions range from uninstalling knox to some account management stuff.
I just froze the app which is similar to "not having" the app installed. But I prefer keeping stuff on my phone rather than completely getting it off. I do this mainly because I never kow whether or not I may need the app again (actually, I don't know if this is needed for any other Samsung app on the phone).
I tried searching but couldn't find anything.
Also I have no idea what app is trying to do it. When I click okay I have a list of every app on my phone. Doesn't tell me what app is triggering the notification.

Tick auto update security in settings > general > security - there was an update pushed via this method depending on what carrier/fw you use(d)
Also make sure you are running the latest firmware which fixed this issue if security update was N/A

Have you disabled any Google apps? Look in settings-apps-disabled.
Turn off data sync for all your accounts. Turn on one by one until the force close occurs. Go to that app that causes the fc and clear data in settings-apps.
