Hi all,
I am looking for a way to access PC desktop from Steam streaming. I know that there are other apps like Splashtop but non of them support Shield gamepad as input.
Thanks.

Here I have posted instructions to use shield controller with splash top. Try using the search
Btw, Splashtop will soon add FULL Shield controller support, so be on the lookout for that!

Actually this doesn't answer my questions. I am looking for the PC side solution for Steam and native Shield streaming, not Splashtop-like solution. Splashtop has higher lag for controls.

Hi All.
I was messing with my PS3 controller on the TF101 ICS and it works great for native games.
I REALLY wanted to play some games, through Splashtop HD, on my PC.. much like what they are touting for Splashtop THD.
The problem is the button presses were not being registered.
I downloaded USB/BT JoyCenter, but could not get the software to see the controller via Bluetooth, even thought it was paired with the tablet and worked fine natively.
I plugged the controller in, via USB, and the software saw it and I was able to configure it.
I loaded up Splashtop HD, remoted to my PC and fired up Prototype.
I went in to the settings, to the keyboard mappings and to my surprised every button press was registered.
After all the commands were assigned I started a game and played it for about an hour streaming to my tablet and streaming the button presses back.. it worked great.
BTW, I also tested it with the Xbox 360 controller and that worked too.
Who says you need a Prime with Splashtop THD?
any chance you could record a video and post it on youtube? I would love to see it.
only problem you cant use full screen
Not sure if I want to take the extra effort of using a console controller just to play streamed games on my tablet. Might as well just play on a big screen TV or my PC.
Aren't you home anyway when you do this?
have you taken a look at this?

Actually you can do full screen, I was playing Prototype full screen.
Just get the latest Splashtop Streamer on your PC and you have to have an Nvidia card on the computer.

Did you not read anything in his post?
There is no Splashtop prototype apk.
Prototype is running on the computer.
In regards to full screen, he said you need the latest version of Splashtop and an Nvidia card.
Since you have ATI, it might not work? Get the latest version of Splashtop and try it?
err how you get it to run fullscreen? i have nvidia card and when i try to run fullscreen a message pop up and tell me to reconfigure the game to run in window mode.
Why do you connect the joystick wired to the tablet instead of via bluethoot to the pc?
However is good to know that the tf101 could handle that power.
Hi guys i would like to connect my s3 with my samsung smart tv so that the screen of my handy is therr 1:1 . So i can play games on the tv. Is there a way withiut hdmi cable to do this? Maybe a app?

With the stock rom 4.3 you can do it by the "Screen Mirroring" option.
In the 4.1 the option is called "All Share Cast" or something like that...
How does screen mirroring work i have this option but i dont know how to find the tv
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9300 mit Tapatalk
Has your tv the built-in WiFi?
Yeah it does
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9300 mit Tapatalk
So, with stock 4.3, go to:
Settings -> Connections -> Screen Mirroring
and, if your phone and tv are connected to the same network, you'll see your tv in the "Available devices" list. Select your tv in the list and the mirroring should start automatically. If not, try to check the settings of your tv.
Some things you need to be aware of:
1.Screen mirroring will only work off the bat on stock ROMS with flash count zero.
2. Not all samsung TVs support this, you have to have a decent spec E of F model with WIDI, to check click "source" on your remote, if screen mirroring is there you have it, if not you will have to buy the allshare cast dongle which If I am being honest isnt great.
3. There are fixes for using it with cooked ROMS, do a search on XDA for screen mirroring.
4. There is lag for gaming, not much good for fast paced games but great for playing movies, I can play full HD MKV bluray ripped movies from my phone in 1080p high profile with no problems, (20 gb in size).
If you have a compatible TV
1. Turn on wifi on your phone
2. Switch to Screen mirroring source on you TV
3. Turn on screen mirroring on your phone - there is a quick panel option for this in the drop down.
4. App will come up and will find your TV automatically, click to connect.]
5. Click ok on message on TV.
Enjoy
Ordered one of these from Amazon this morning. Will have it tonight. Anyone else using one? Saw someone using it with their FTV in a video last night.
Mele F10-PRO 2.4G Air Mouse Wireless Keyboard 2 in 1 Intelligent Voice with IR Remote Control for PC TV Media Player
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DHEUBPA
Strange there is no Accessories section for the FTV here and that there has yet to be a single post in the Themes and Apps section.
Got the same remote for the ftv. Not really happy with how it works with the ftv os. Im hoping someday some dev will make a vanilla android rom for the ftv.

Use of it is kind of hit or miss, tried it primarily for XBMC which I had yet to get working with my win box media center. The keyboard was useful until you do a password and can't tell if cap is on or not.
Used plex and it did what I was trying to get XBMC to do, access to all of my media files on my primary workstation

i was the guy in the video, i love the mele pro f10. and the reason why caps dont work is not because of the mele pro its because that is a know bug in xbmc frodo versions. use the esc and back button on the keyboard side to navigate in xbmc. you'll get use to it and what i love is because it acts like a keyboard it will work if we ever get a custom recovery like clockworkmod. At least it worked fined on my ouya and madcatz mojo.

Any chance you can link that video? Maybe expand some on the use of the remote? I'm hunting for a remote that can control the FTV and TV on/off, volume. I need one that will also work with an IR repeater so FLIRC might be of the list.
Thanks.
keymap for MELE F10
Hi
I'm brand new to XBMC/Amazon fire TV, which arrived this week, and have the MELE F10 controller in the post. Really impressed with both xbmc and the Fire TV. I'm wondering if anyone here managed to get the microphone on the MELE working with the amazon search? Also are there any keymap files available and.or how easy it to make one up myself?
Thanks
Andy
which android games work with the control pad for nvidia that are worth installing/buying?
non-nvidia shield hub games
Most games that allow a controller can recognize and work with the SATV. I use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.offworldsoftware.androidgamepadgames
That let's me browse games that are compatible with the shield or any gamepad. That might be a good place to start.
Thanks for that Bradley.

The Google Play app searches for apps that are flagged with the Android TV/controller compatibility so what you see when you search is it. It's a bit sparse but there's some good ones on there.
Some apps have Android TV counterparts specifically made for controller or shield TV, which isn't a great thing. Nice that they specifically support our device, but not nice that if you've already purchased it on mobile you'll have to purchase it again for TV. Skyforce being the first one I've come across with this, which is an excellent game.
I also have done side loaded apps for Nvidia Sheild T.v.
Hi everyone, just got done setting up my new Shield TV with Kodi to stream media files from my unRaid NAS! I purchased the Shield because my old WDTV Live was dying and there did not appear to be many options for media boxes that could stream network content without transcoding with Plex or similar. My unRaid server uses a very old Atom CPU and doesn't have the horsepower to transcode 720p video or above.
Setting up Kodi was pretty easy, although it wasn't able to install it from the Play store. I had to go the route of loading the APK from a USB stick. All of my networked media seems to play flawlessly!
So now onto my question, what is everyone using their Shield for? I've got mine in the bedroom and I'm curious to see what else I can do with it. Out of all my Android games (I have a lot because I've gone through 3 android phones and 2 android tablets) only Wayward Souls was available for Android TV. I some experience with PS1 and SNES emulators from my tablet, but it seems the Shield is much more capable.
My general household includes 2 android phones, an android tablet, a gaming PC with an nvidia graphics card, the unraid server, and an HTPC in the living room. Solid AC Wifi connection between the Shield and the rest of the network.
Throw some ideas at me - what else should I do with the Shield?
Welcome.
I'm using my Shield as a main media center hooked up to my TV in the living room.
I do some android gaming sometimes, but there aren't enough titles i like (hoping this will change)
once nop releases the NTFS and samba kernel, i'm planning to use it as a NAS with a 2.5" usb 3.0 hdd connected to it.
RetroboxTV is pretty sweet for game emulation.
We use our Shield as our primary media device. It does everything we want minus native WatchESPN. We have an hdhomerun prime that we use with the Live Channels app for live TV.
We have a 2 TB external HDD hooked up with movies and TV shows that we watch through Kodi.
What else are you looking for?

Get sideload launcher, it will give you a wider range of apps you can run. You can also install amazon underground (first download and install the Chrome .apk to browse to it). IMO, ES file explorer provides a lot of the network search functions that I used to use Kodi for, so that removes some software layers. MXPLayer seems to be the most capable video player I've tested.
Mount as fileshare

Think im good with the shield tv but I do need to have prime video. Can someone give me a concrete answer? I've read through tons of threads out there and seems some people say you can while I've read others who say its a no go. HELP PLEASE!!!

You CAN run prime video. However, the current workaround will not give you you 1080p (or 4K). You'll be limited to 720p. http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tv/development/amazon-prime-video-demand-android-tv-t3278778
OK everyone so I've been using my Shield for a bit now and here are my quick thoughts. I haven't rooted or installed ROMs or done anything else. The most complicated thing I've done is put APKs on a flash drive and clicked "OK" in ES File Explorer to install them. I've also had to use a computer with the Play store to install a few games/apps.
1) ES File Explorer is OK but the user interface is very difficult to navigate (not intuitive)
2) Getting a PS1 and SNES emulator up and running were easy
3) Netflix, PBS, and CBS Sports are the only native video streaming apps I can get to work because I have Comcast/Xfinity and they hate Android TV. However, CBS Sports is only clips, not full programming, I find that pretty useless.
4) HBO Go and Showtime Anytime work with built in app casting functionality from my Android phone
5) Fox Sports Go works by casting my phone through Android (not within the app)
6) There are very few games in the Play store that seem to support Shield TV. So far I've only got Wayward Souls and Reaper.
Questions:
1) I've got Retro Arch and Arc Browser installed because I read about them a lot. However, I can't figure out what to actually do with either of those apps.
2) What other Android/play store games?
3) What other video streaming services (I have Comcast/Xfinity)
4) What emulator next? I'm thinking PSP would be good... anything else?
5) Any other apps or cool uses I should look at?

1) There is a touchpad on the bottom of the game controller. It's hidden, but if you run your finger over the gray area above the volume control it should respond as a mouse pointer. That should help you navigate some apps easier.
2) Implosion (play store), Sonic CD & Goat Simulator (Chrome.apk -> Amazon underground -> amazon Apps), and some of the more ambitious MMO like War Thunder and Vendetta should work well.
3) HBOGo should work from your phone by casting, as will a lot of other video apps. FoxNow, WatchESPN, NBC, xfinity TV Go are some others I've tested successfully.
4)
5) sideload launcher if you don't already have it. Kodi is good for live TV from external devices (i.e. HDHomeRun Connect), but I've always found its navigation to be more complicated than it needs to be.
