Hi and thanks for looking at this post,
I have searched the forums and haven't found a thing that works for my phone. I rooted and backed up my current version this morning (4.2.2 stock) using CWM. I then proceded to install Wanamlite 1.5 for the S4 GT-I19505, which installed but had serious issues with sound, everything would crash when the volume controls were pressed or headphones inserted. I therefore switched ROM to Android revolution HD 1.0. I installed what I thought was the relevant wifi fix, but no joy.
At this point, I restored to stock 4.2.2 hoping it would solve the issue, but it hasn't, my cwm backup also has the issue after attempting to restore.
Anyone got any suggestions of how I can fix this? I thought the stock restore would have done this, but obviously not.
I am running android 4.2.2 on a stock rom (XXUAMDD_I9505EVRAMDA_EVR).
GT - I9505
If you need to know anything else, let me know. Thanks.
- Go to CWM
- Make a full wipe (data, system and cache)
- Restore ur old stock backup
- I think this will solve ur problems :highfive:

Thanks for the quick response, unfortunately it hasn't worked
I'm assuming it's a kernel issue, but surely that would have been replaced after installing back to stock? Is there anywhere we can download the individual required kernels maybe?

Thanks for the help, was a different file from the one I tried earlier, but still no joy with this one either.
There doesn't appear to be a wifi-fix from the list of those files for my version. I'm going to try it, combined with a complete stock reinstall now, to see if there is any change.

I really dont understand why are you trying to revert into your back up? when you can just flash a 4.3 stock rom in order to fix all this problem? then root it after ? just so you know that your warranty is already void sir. so go ahead and make a back up and flash a 4.3 stock rom from samsung website. thank you.

Thanks, I'll do that. I was trying to steer clear of 4.3, because of issues I had keeping root access on it, but if that's what will solve these problems then that's fine for me. As for the warranty, I don't mind too much Thanks for all the help again.

H O W DO WE FIX THIS FRIGGEN ISSUE!?!?
Everyone is having this same damn problem, I've had it for about a month, flashed all sorts of roms, wifi fixes, different modems etc
and its not working, I matched my ap cp csc so they are all the same:
Last night it was reading:
AP: I9505XXUFNB8
CP: I9505XXUFNB8
CSC:I9505XXUFNB8
= NO SOUND
Its all the same now except
CP: I9505XXUFNA5
Please help, or even better - if someone has the knowledge to let me know what is actually wrong here and I can then research and fix it myself.
THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnks..
same problem here!!! Absolutely no sound on my Galaxy S4.. But I noticed that I have sound only if there is not flashed modem after installing clean rom (Phoenix).. So there must be problem with modem.. But any modem that I tried to flash doesn't trigger the sound, the latest, the oldest... really dont know.... :///////
hi all. need help
i've been playing with different roms for couple of years now on different phones and did not have any problems.
till now that is ....
i have installed Omega 21.1, but from time to time phone would lose gsm data connection so i decided to flash something else.
installed [ROM]KOT49H【4.4.2】AOSP official Google Edition and it was good.
for some, God knows what reason, wanted to try Omega19 (4.3). installed fine but sound was broken. when ever phone used any kind of sound it would start flashing or would freeze or something. Flasing any other rom did not help. and for some reason it does not let me change modem with odin.
Last modem i have installed is XXUEMJ5.
tried to do restore using [GUIDE] Unroot/Unbrick, Flash official stock firmware on Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 & I9505 but Odin would fail with Auth error
tried with Odin 3.47, and 3.07
now i still can install rom but stops in logo loop. tried both Omega and google edition.
pls help

Hi,
Once you have installed a TW 4.4.2 ROM , it installs the latest knox bootloader.
At that point , you cannot downgrade your firmware.
You said you installed [ROM]KOT49H【4.4.2】AOSP official Google Edition and it was good.
Your best bet is to re-install that.
As for the modem , there is a technique which you have to try:
Look HERE
That should help.
BTW , I edited your title
thx. will try that and report back.
nope, still stuck @ logo loop
not sure what more combination to test
tried Omega 21.1 with
Bootloader -> BL_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5 and
Modems -> CP_I9505XXUFNA5_373648_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_C ERT.tar.md5
but now it does not get to the logo. shows samsung logo and than screen goes blank.

Hi,
You said you tried the [ROM]KOT49H【4.4.2】AOSP official Google Edition ,and it worked .
So I figured to try and re-install that one.
The other thing you must do between flashing different ROMS is a full wipe (Cache and data)
yes. that was first thing i tested. at best i get the logo loop.
and yes, i do full data wipe before and after reinstallation of the new rom.
cache wipe only whe requested but in this case done that to.
is there a way to see a boot log or something to see where and why booting stops?

The best thing you can do is flash the entire 4.4.2 stock rom via odin. And start from scratch(Recovery/Custom rom) Since you already flashed the newestbootloader (from OMEGA file) .This mean your knox is now triggered and your warranty is now void 0x01.

Hi,
Perhaps you should try to find the latest test stock 4.4.2 firmware ( I9505XXUFNA1) and flash it in odin.
Wipe data and cache before and after flashing.
And then wait for the official update.
At least you should have a phone you can use.
following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
i've found that there is 4.3 stock image I9505XXUEMKF. downloaded it and tried to install but that did not work.
now this is a noob question but is there a speciffic bootloader, modem or something else i need to flash before flashing this image?
or should i search for 4.4.2 version?
thx
flashing stock 4.3 on current bootloader/modem combination gives me Fail from Odin and Sw. Rev. Check Fail error on the phone.

I believe malybru already answer that for you .Thread and Stop experimenting with your Phone because there's a chance that you might bricked your Device or end up with no IMEI.. and Your asking for help/Solution mate so follow their instruction . If not feel free to send your Phone to customer Service for repair.( and Be aware that your warranty is already voided unless your Country is part of EU so Rooting and Flashing don't void your warranty)

But if i break the glass on my phone and such then i dont have any warranty for that..and must pay them for a repair.

If you already flash the Bootloader from Omega then you can no longer downgrade to 4.3 stock , that's why your Getting Fail (Auth) in Odin Flash the 4.4.2 stock Leak rom for now then if you consider flashing a Custom Rom then ,flash the philz recovery 6.09.2 or TWRP (Dont forget to Nandroid backup EFS and such and then DO A CLEAN WIPE by Wiping cache, dalvik cache data and system) and From recovery flash any Custom rom you like. (no need to root your phone, Your phone will be rooted after flashing any custom rom . So goodluck
Summary: my I9505 mic, earpiece and speaker don't seem to work and cause fc/not responding on functions that use them (phone), what should I do to resolve? (I have flashed a bunch of ROMs, and a couple modems...).
Detail:
Ok, so firstly I must apologise for not recalling the somewhat random sequence of events which has brought me to this juncture... I was fiddling around with a few different ROMs and when I noticed the problem I sort of frantically tried flashing things to fix it (yes, I'm aware this is a very sensible approach )
I've flashed a few different ROMs and at some point flashed a new modem.
I noticed yesterday that I was not getting any sounds out of my phone, noticed when using the volume buttons, no beep; further investigation revealed the speaker, earpiece and microphone seem to have decided to take an indefinite nap...
Any suggestions on how to proceed with waking them up?!
There is a message in the logcat:
getDeviceForStrategy() speaker device not found
Though not sure if this helps at all.
Making/receiving phonecalls the screen goes black and either rings out to voicemail before I can answer, then displays not responding wait/close error or the other person answers and neither side can hear then same not responding error.
I've not changed the bootloader (as far as I'm aware...).
Wifi/mobile internet work fine.
Tried flashing an old modem, factory resetting, reflashing a ROM (currently CM10.2) but no dice... since I'm a bit lost I figured stop fiddling and ask for help
Current baseband: I9505ZHUAME3
Current bootloader: I9505ZHUBMF4
Any suggestions on how to proceed to un-screw my phone would be greatly appreciated. :good:

Flashing a wrong LTE/Wifi fix will loose your sound . in Old bootloader you can't flash any newer LTE modem than UBMH1.and for the New bootloader you can flash all the new LTE modems, including MKF etc.. So boot your phone into download mode and check if you have an entry of knox warranty void then you have newbootloader. and make sure you manually turn off your phone and wait atleast 10 sec and boot your phone into download mode and flash . (Because sometimes flashing a modem/lte doesnt work and need to do it twice.
Use Odin
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Power+Voldown)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.

Im still in oldbootloader and i just download and flash a custom rom 4.4.2 via recovery .. and incase something wrong with my phone in a future . iE Hardware related.etc theni can just flash a 4.2.2 and send it for repair for free... and about newbootloader , flashing any custom rom/rooting will triggered your knox , so feel free to flash the latest stock 4.4.2 kitkat if you dont care about your Warranty. But like i said you can still flash a 4.4.2 custom rom without flashing a newbootloader (Never flash a newbootloader , Make sure to ask first before flashing anything) Have a nice day.
Edited: @mrlizard123 Never flash a latest Wifi fix so you wont get this problem again. only flash a GSM MODEM. if your flashing a custom 4.4.2 rom then you need to flash a latest GSM MODEM base from your country. in order to fix dropping signal issue when the phone went to sleep.

Titanium Backup requires root access.
It's a good thing you got your phone working again.

Many thanks it's now back to it's Rooted state. Should I stay away from the "un root" method ? I planned to sell the phone in it's original state.
Thanks
I have a AT&T Samsung S4 that I would like to give to my daughter. Unfortunately, the S4 is out of whack. First, I keep receiving the message "The device has detected an application attempting to perform actions that are not permitted. These actions have been blocked. It is recommended that you restart your device." Second, Wi-Fi will not turn on. When I try to activate Wi-Fi from the pull down screen, it blinks green and then goes back to gray. Third, I cannot delete any of Knox apps. There is no option that allows me to delete the Know apps, just the option to force stop. Considering that I don't have cellular service (because the purpose of the S4 is just to use on Wi-Fi and download apps for my daughter), I can't really download apps without Wi-Fi.
Is there any way I can get my S4 to function properly again, such as reinstalling software? I'm not tech savvy, so I apologize. A lot of the threads I've come across only address one of the issues. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
The wi-fi chip could be defective. I also have an i337 sitting in my desk that has no wifi.
You cannot delete knox apps without root.
Did you try a factory reset?

Yes, I did a factory reset. Is there a way to root the device without WiFi access? Given that I can't access WiFi, I can't access the Play store to download the apps I need to root.

You can root the device. But you need to be in stable condition first, like working everything fine and no system message popping up.
Could you tell me your android version, baseband, bootloader etc.. so that I can tell you the directions you need to take.
Look at this thread to get back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221

Android Version = 4.3
Baseband = I337UCUFNC1
Build No. = JSS15J.I337UCUEMK2
Kernel Version = 3.40-1921628
Secure Boot Status = Samsung
I hope this is helpful and thank you for your time and assistance with this matter.
You could try smartswitch or Kies to perform a factory restore. If that doesn't work, this thread may help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221

It appears that your are on Jellybean 4.3 OS with Kit-kat NC1 modem.
You have several choices.
Like audit13 said you try smartswitch or Kies to perform a factory restore .
If that is not solved your problem you can flash the firmware via odin.
If you are not familiar with using odin this guide explain about the odin.
In that guide you will find the sections about how to get back to MK2 stock and links for the necessary files.
Once you were back on the MK2 stock see whether your wifi is working. If you want to stay on MK2 and root the phone you can use saferoot to root the phone. Here is the link for root.
You could also upgrade your android OS to NC1 Kitkat too. Then you could use Towel root to root the phone.
Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately, I tried the Odin method and during the process i received the Failed message in Odin. I suppose I'm SOL.

Can you post the screen shot of the odin message?
Did you try flashing the latest stock firmware from sammobile.com located here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-I337/ ?

Here's the screenshot of the failed message.
If you download roms from sammobile.com, only unzip the file once and flash in ap.
Since it is stopping at the aboot.mbn file, either the rom you are flashing has an outdated bootloader or the rom is not for your phone.

How would I flash it? Odin?
Yes, ROMs from sammobile are flashed using Odin. Unzip the file once to yield a tar.md5 file. Then, this file is flashed in ap.

Yes I tried the latest stock firmware today and same problem...received Odin message "failed." Given that I cant seem to get back to stock via Odin, I'll probably trash the phone. Thanks for everyone's patience and help.
Dont' give up yet. You could install safestrap to get close to stock.

okay, so i follow safe strap instructions and bypass the odin steps in that thread? thanks for your help.
and just one last note...i cant even get passed the laoding screen. it is stuck so not sure safe strap will work if i cant download the app and get it the phone
What loading screen is it stuck at?
Maybe take it to a cell repair shop to see how much it would cost to force flash the firmware via jtag cable.
