Phone via WiFi - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any one use apps like Groove IP or Talkatone on this phone?
I can't get them to work properly. Either one of those will dial out but when communicating, I can hear the other side but the other side cannot hear me.

Anyone?

i use csipsimple
works fine

Thanks.
I don't have a SIP account with anyone at the moment and would like to use existing Google voice number if that's even possible to set up with this phone. By the way, I have the I9505 International version.
I have tried Mo+ and it works but it is not quite up to par at the moment (still in the beta phase).

Anyone/expert out there care to try and see if it works with I9505?
I am using this software with an older phone (MB860) and it works really well with default settings. And I would really like to make it work with this phone.
Many thanks.

Internet calling (VoIP) on the mogul works, but...

I was able to get Internet Calling (integrated VoIP) on the mogul working with the Gizmo VoIP service. The big problem is that the volume is so low it is pretty much unusable. I followed all of the guides here on xda and came up with the same issue as everyone else; i could not get internet calling to show up on the today screen and i did not have any of the internet options under the phone settings. What solved it for me was Schap's Setup VoIP tool version .3. This tools gives us the ability to now set the items that us Mogul users do not have available under the phone settings.
In a nut shell:
1) install WM6VoIP.CAB then reboot
2) install SetupVoIP_v0.3.cab (Schap's VoIP tool)
3) open Schap's config tool and set:
a) all of your SIP settings.b) Set outgoing calls using VoIP to Whenever available.c) enable VoIP over 3G.
Now when you go to your phone dialer it should now show the name of your VoIP service at the top rather than your carrier (Sprint PCS in my case). You will have to force your internet to connect first (i use PIE to start my internet connections up, not sure of a better way to do this.) Now you will be able to make and receive VoIP calls. I have verified this by calling another phone and seeing that the caller ID is from my VoIP. I have also been able to stay on a call and browse the web at the same time (not normally possible on sprint). The 1X icon never appears over my Evo icon while on the phone now. Interestingly enough i could not get this to work over WiFi, it would only work on Evdo.
This integrated VoIP is so seamless that it pains me to use another app just because of this volume issue. I have tried:
Skype. Works great, but not with Gizmo.
SJPhone. Works with Gizmo, but is VERY choppy.
GoSip. Works great with Gizmo, but is very big and slows the phone down.
Fring. Works great with Gizmo and the mem usage is great, but has no dial pad and that pretty much makes the app useless.
Wengo. Works great with Gizmo. Mem usage is on the big side, but is manageable. Seems to be the best for me so far.
I have tried many others that either work as dial out only or only work with their makers SIP service.
Any other ideas or thoughts?
Thanks,
JD
You got the mic working using Fring ? I always got one way audio
What version of WM6VoIP.CAB did you use ?
The mic did work for me on fring. However, the instant that i realized that i didn't have a dialpad i removed it. I use VoIP mostly for conference calls and i need to be able to enter in conference room passwords.
How would i be able to tell what version of WM6VoIP.CAB i am using? I cannot find version information anywhere.
JD
You are lucky with the Fring since there is many complaints from Mogul owners that Mic doesn't work
What version did you use ?
When I was searching for the WM6VoIP.CAB there was indication that there is some new version but the link was dead when I tried to download
Can you please post it here?
When i tried Fring it was a few months ago and i don't remember the version number. I do remember using my bluetooth headset for SIP rather than the internal mic and speaker. I just tried the newest version of fring (downloaded last night) and my internal mic and bluetooth headset now do not work for SIP. Interesting.
For WM6VoIP.cab I searched here on XDA and downloaded the first link i found. Here is the one that i used, not sure if there is a newer version? http://218.93.115.138/d900/patch/WM6VoIP.CAB
JD
That's the same I'm using ... I did read some article about this couple weeks ago ( can't find it) where there was reference and non working link to new version of this file.
Did you read this post ? :
http://www.eten-users.eu/lofiversion/index.php/t8854.html
There is reference to switch.cab ( can't find link to download it )
switch.cab
Try this:
http://www.etenblog.com/downloads/Software/switch.cab
I did, it did install ok but it doesn't work
Thanks
well i tried the configuration and everything, but the thing is that when i try to call out it says dialing then it says call ended, like it doesn't even ring. I entered the correct settings and everything.
I did everything and it DOES NOT show on my Today screen, I see the item "Internet Calling" checked in the today screen options. Any ideas?

No, I have a Sprint Mogul with the "unofficial" leaked GPS rom. Anyone else know how to fix this? I really need this to work, thanks a lot.
It will not show on your today screen. When you go to your dialpad, the name of your VOIP provider should be listed at the top rather than sprint. If it shows that then you should be good to go.
JD
When you make a call, does the sound come through the earpiece or the speakerphone?
How can I have the sound coming from the speaker on the screen side instead of the back speaker?
Thanks!
I'm afraid you can't

Google Voice touch tones not working?

I got my epic recently and use it a lot for work. I have google voice installed so I can make calls over my wifi and not use any minutes. I have ALOT of minutes for work purposes working from home since I have no home phone. While the call works fine, my touch tones do not seem to go across fully. It recognizes some keys like if I press #. However, I always get invalid entry so something isnt working right. Anyone have any idea on how to resolve this?
How are you able to make calls? When I try to do this over wifi, I get an error message saying that i need to be connected to the network even though I am. Please let me know how I can use my wifi connection and make and recieve calls.
I was wrong anyways Google voice just acts as a middle man and still uses minutes. There is a way to use sipgate to use wifi but I haven't yet.

Make/Rcv Phone Calls Sipdroid including video conferencing

I dont know if you guys already know this but if you are kind of annoyed by switching or waiting around for the firmware to have phone enabled. You can tried this anyway:
1. sign up for google voice if you haven't already, install apk
2. dl sipdroid from the market.
3. create an account and allow it associate with gv.
4. follow this guide
http://ifdefined.com/blog/post/How-...ee-calls-over-the-internet-using-Android.aspx
Note: The guide is only for receiving calls .
when you start the guide you should see GTALK under Trunk, / under inbound, 0 GTalk under outbound. You need this for out going calls.
if ipkalls says you already signed up that means someone already used your ISP ip address.
once you are done you should be able to make and receive calls with 3/4G or wifi...edge is kind of crappy
BTW, you can disable it under settings calls Call Screening and toggle off and confirm...so you dont have to dial 1 anymore just pick up the phone and use you BT headset.
enable 3g in sipdroid settings and now you have a phone
This also works on other tabs as well. I tested it on Galaxy Tab Tmobile(simple mobile), Galaxy Tab Sprint(wifi), Archos 101 (wifi), Zenithink wifi, Haipad wifi, and a Wifi'ed G1 works great.

Actually I use bluetooth and it works just as good on 3g as wifi while driving even. Any problems with call quality are the result of a poor 3g connection, not bluetooth.
Seems like it forks with a2dp
Alternatively, you can use fring once you are done with setup. Go to add ons and add sip info.
You can uninstall gv so you dont have to have so many dailer options

Ah, Im not using an A2DP headset at the moment, but a Voyager Pro, which is working great with every phone Ive used it with.
I've tried doing a video call using sipdroid and the image was on its side. Did they update this?
From the Tab.
www.twitter.com/ayman07
The front facing camera seems bounded to portrait. I do not see any options on display it in landscape. I somehow fat fingered and got the other camera to function
BT head set Nokia BH-503 brain farts it has A2DP.
$14 PoS BT earpiece Nokia BH-104 works.
Kenwood DNX-6160 works as well.
Re: ar emoji how to make a video
Hi, regarding your video, it helps me a lot. Actually, I'm a student with a course in computer tech major in video editing. As per my instructor, he wants me to look for some of the best video makers using my android device. As I'm searching on the internet only (https://lightmv.com/ )Lightmv online free video maker. However, I need more video-makers to pass it to my instructor. if you know anything please don't hesitate to respond to my post. Thank you very much. much appreciated if you response quickly.

telephony hardware

Does it exist on tis tab?
how about on
http://www.sierrawireless.com/Newsr...Wireless_4G_LTE_Mobile_Broadband_Network.aspx
which may be the card going in the xoom?
Lastly if the hardware exists on an lte device, should it be possible to make calls work by switching the sim card with a lte phone sim?
I think that if you would like to place phone calls with your Xoom using the cell radio its possible to find a way. Verizon might not be happy with it.
However, Its the hard way to place calls.
Sigh up with a VoIP provider, and use a SIP Client.
I like a provider named Vitelity. You can port your number to them if you would like. They are very inexpensive, and very reliable. (or use Skype, or anyone else.)
Then, use a SIP dialer and a Bluetooth headset on your Xoom. I am doing just that using Verizon 3g and it works great.
I have signed up for skype and have a number, but skype seems to have no interest in real BT support, neither does Google. If I could force Skype to use the mic on a BT< I could likely live with it, but AFAIK that is not possible.
This all be in another forum, however I am using CSIPSimple and it supports my plantronic BT voyager 510, (on Honeycomb)
http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/voyager-510&skuId=sku4610016
And, CSIPSimple opens the default Android Dialer (Which is in Honeycomb) to send and receive calls.
Would you mind testing it to be sure?
If so, place a call, leave your pad and walk like 15 feet and see if you are still heard.
Please don't be offended, I have just had WAY to many people say the same thing as you, only to find out A2DP let them hear, and they were using the tab mic without knowing it.
Hmmm.. I will check later tonight. That is a good question.
Thanks young... anyone else use csip too?
The hardware is capable, the problem is with the provisioning. Verizon adds feature codes to block voice and SMS on their tablet data plans.

So then? Any tablet outside of the us ( or Verizon) is able
To standard phonecalls?
I'm in the uk and I was planning to buy the 3g version but if I still have to carry a phone to txt or call, i'll choose the WiFi one, save 200 bucks, and tether with my nexus when needed although I'm not very happy with the idea of carrying multiple devices...
Btw , 3g version has been priced in.....600 pounds! What are they playing at? If I finally choose wifionly I'll buy for sure in the US, screw carphone and pcworld..

I think you are asking a question that no one can answer at the moment.
LTE does use a SIM card, but, NO devices are currently available on Verizon's LTE network yet, so no one knows what happens if you switch LTE SIM cards between devices.
I also think that LTE devices use a VoIP type of voice connection, something different then how voice is done on CDMA. This new type of connection allows data and Voice to operate at the same time. This functionality, this Software dialer stack would need to be included in Honeycomb, which is not a phone Android distribution.
Young dud you test the bluetooth mic with csip?
Yes. I I have found is that I do have two way audio, all on the Bluetooth headset using csip, I walked around my house, leaving the Xoom several rooms away.
While in WiFi, Bluetooth audio was sketchy at best. For most calls, I could not get the headset in engage for the call. While in the call I would press Bluetooth on the dialer, and nothing would happen, or the audio would cut in and out, before engaging, or a few times I would have to press 'Speaker", then Bluetooth, then Speaker again before it would engage. When it would engage in WiFi I did have two way audio.
While in 3G, with WiFi Off, the connection with Bluetooth was perfect every time. No issues. The call call quality overall was a bit less then with WiFi, however Bluetooth worked correctly.
UPDATE: I just had a bad Bluetooth connection issue on 3G. So, it is spotty. It might be because CSip uses the default Android dialer which might be incomplete in some way on Honeycomb.
I should try another SIP app. But Bluetooth does have two way audio when I can get it to connect.

Google Voice not working

I'm not sure what is happening here but i can't get my phone to place calls via Google Voice. Anyone else use Google Voice on their stock G6 successfully? If I dial a number the stock phone dialer calls the GV relay number but I never hear it ring on my end. If they answer I can't hear them either.
I'm on software version h87211g on T-Mobile. Completely stock phome. Did the BOGO deal and the problem happens on both of these phones.
I've been using GV for years and never experienced this. It works as it should on any other phone I test it on. LG Stylo 3, Galaxy S9, S9+ Note5, erc...
I can factory reset this phone, install Google Voice and no bueno. Can't make calls with GV.
Just tried again. Reset and wiped the phone to factory stock and did default setup. I let Google and LG do whatever updates it needed to do. Everything works perfectly. I went to the play store and downloaded Google Voice and setup normally and have it set to use my GV number to make all calls as I always have. Try to make a call and it never rings. The receiving line will ring but when they answer no audio is passed through.
I just grabbed my old Note 5, reset it back to stock and did the same process. Installed Google Voice and it works perfectly. Also grabbed an old LG F3 I had in a drawer and it worked on it also. Seems to be some combo issue with this dialer, maybe VOLTE and who knows what. It doesn't seem to make a difference if I have VOLTE on or off or if WiFi is on or off. It just doesn't work for me on this phone.

That is very odd. I also have the h87211g and Google voice works flawlessly. Can you try calling once from the dialer within the Google Voice app and see if that works?

Didn't work. It brings up the stock dialer, calls the relay number then no audio. Person called does receive the call but they can't hear anything and it never tells me the call connected on my end.
I found an older version of GV from January and get the same issue. Just installed Hangouts and the Hangouts dialer and it will make calls fine.
I can receive calls fine on GV also. Just cant make them. Two brand new and identical G6 doing this.
I'm going to stop by the TMO store and get a new SIM just to try anything at this point.

Yes it's working. I could always send texts but to be able to make calls I had to download the Google Hangouts dialer.
Finally got it to work. Ended up giving the G6 to my wife who doesn't use Google Voice and took her S9 which she complained would drop calls
Now both our problems are solved. I have a properly working Goole Voice and she says the call quality is better. Bigger battery is a plus for her too. Not sure how but she can put in a good four or five hours talking to ONE person.

Sounds like you didn't actually get it to work, you just worked around the problem
I'm on AT&T and GV calling works fine for me. So I can't provide any direct data here and I don't have any need for a solution. But I would still prefer to see an explanation for why this wasn't working (and preferably a fix) since it could help others who are affected.
What I would have suggested is: manually call into your own GV number and hit the button when it answers (* or #, I forget which) that lets you get in and listen to messages and make calls. Try dialing out from that menu and see how it works. Also, you didn't mention whether you had the same problem regardless of who you called, or whether you were able to test from different locations (and thus using a different cell tower).
It seems most likely that there is some issue with the G6's implementation of VoLTE (and possibly only in your area). The only place I know I have made GV calls, I often won't have an LTE signal so I can't confirm whether it works over AT&T's VoLTE, but it would be even more interesting if it did not.

I'd love to get to the bottom of it. I'll test it again when and if another system update comes out for this thing. I've added a few more things I've done to see if I could figure it out. The only thing I haven't done is try a SIM for a different carrier such as ATT or Cricket. The results of any test were the same. Outbound calling through Google Voice would never ring on my end and I could never hear anything. Two different G6 phones, brand new, stock, etc...
I tested on Wifi, regular LTE, VOLTE on or off. Same results. The other party may or may not be able to hear me or it may or may not even ring on their end. No particular setting with regard to being on wifi, LTE, VOLTE on or off made any consistent difference. Inbound calling always worked fine.
I also downloaded and installed a modified Pixel phone dialer to replace the LG version. I was hoping it was some bug in their dialer doing this. The dialer worked on my Note5 and S9 and worked on the G6 when installed also. Once setup and working I put Google Voice back on and tried to make a call. Same issue. It will not ring on outbound and if someone did answer, I couldn't hear them.
