Has anyone had any luck with getting TV Out to work with their S4 Active? Has anyone even tried to see if it works? If you got it to work what adapter did you use? I just tried with this PNY adapter I bought with no luck, and I was wondering if anyone else has tried.
*edit*
Seems I got the wrong adapter. Didn't realize there were 5 pin adapters for the older phones and 11 pin adapters for the newer phones.
Ok so I went out and got the correct MHL to HDMI adapter and I attempted to connect my phone to my monitor -- an ASUS VX238H -- using three different HDMI Cables. First I tried a Spyder C Class HDMI cable followed by a Belkin HDMI cable my phonee recognized being plugged into a HDMI cable but my monitor didn't detect any signal. I just now tried this off brand HDMI cable I had and when I plugged it in my monitor went black (It has two HDMI ports with my computer plugged into HDMI1 and my phone plugged into HDMI2). So my question is is there a specific type of cable I have to use or some feature some HDMI clables have that I don't want to use (such as Ethernet)?
S4 Active has it's own forum now...

Hi,
I was hoping to use a wired ethernet connection to my N7.
I was reading it was possible and I happen to have the cables from before. A micro usb to usb female and then a usb to ethernet adapter. Mine is based on ADM 8515 and it doesn't work.
I haven't rooted or done anything else yet.
I have seen reports that another usb to ethernet adapter works, based on AX88772.
Anyone managed to get this to work? Does it work out of the box with the AX88772? Anyone managed to get it to work with this ADMTek one, or any other chipset?

Hi all,
I've just ordered this gorgeous phone and am waiting for it to be delivered. In the meantime I've been wondering given that it's capable of HDMI output and serve as USB host whether it is possible of it doing both at the same time, if say I hooked up the HDMI output along with other usb devices, like a USB drive and a keyboard via a usb HUB. I would be practically creating a bespoke docking station of sorts..
I know it's pushing the technology a little... and there are other alternatives to USB devices (NAS drives, wireless mouse/keyboards...), but my question is more about what the device is capable of.
Thanks.
Update:
So far I've successfully managed to plug in an old USB hub via a cheap micro-usb to USB adapter bought off e-bay. From there I hooked up a USB keyboard, Mouse, pen drive and also USB speakers.
I'm amazed it actually managed to power all of these devices without any problems (imagine battery drain is massive given that the usb hub is unpowered).
I would like to know if anyone has tried hooking up HDMI output while the USB is hosting other devices. Has anyone tried this already? I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find a definitive answer to my question.
As a side note, does anyone know of a docking station for the G2, similar to what you get with laptops?
Did you figure out the answer to this?

No, I have not yet tried this out. I had bought an HDMI cable/device thing but never got it to work on my TV.. apparently it had something to do with the technology that the phone uses for HDMI not being compatible with older Samsung TVs.
Would be great if anyone else has tried this out could post here, whatever the outcome
I installed it in my dash and removing it is a pita it was working perfectly fine but for some reason it wasnt showings charge or turning off or on with the car it just stays on i tried restart nothing happens i tried unplugging usb from powergen and plugging back in no result
Also if i go to usb rom under fixed installation i am able to check box and uncheck also did nothing
I am using nexus 7, timurs usb rom, otg cable, original charging cable and powergen usb charger
Please help thanks
Anyone???
I'm also using Timur's kernel with USB ROM for my car installation. I know that it can be very picky on the order the USB plugs are added (data and power). It may seem simple but remove the the OTG cable from the tablet and remove both the data and power legs from the OTG as well. The follow the order listed by Timur on his website:
To activate charging, you must first connect your external power supply to your OTG Y-adapter - then plug the OTG adapter into your Nexus 7 - and then connect any slave devices.

Hopefully that should get you back up and working. I completely understand how frustrating it is to have everything plugged in and see that tablet isn't charging, especially when its difficult to get to the Nexus itself.
does anyone have a easy charging solution these car chargers dont work
and a good otg y cable
You could try using a power inverter which will give you a standard US plug from the cigarette lighter. From here, you could plug in a regular outlet adapter. I found this to work pretty well with my own set up and managed to get one pretty cheap at Walmart. As for a good OTG y cable, your best bet is probably to go on Amazon and find one with a lot of good reviews. They can vary in quality and some of the cheap ones I've gotten from China have flaked out after a short time and little use.

Not seeing usb power
I had the same issue. I was using a 90 degree adapter into an OTG cable and my n7 wouldn't go into fixed install mode. Turns out my adapter cable was stopping the n7 from recognizing power. I removed the 90 degree adapter and plugged straight to otg and it worked as advertised. The issue was found during my bench testing on a 12v powersupply. I still have to find a 90 degree otg cable that will work.
So... try a different cable or if you have an adapter between the otg y cable, that may be the issue.
I've got a Seek Thermal CompactXR infra-red camera that I bought recently and since it has a micro-usb connector and the 6P has a usb-c connector it needs an adaptor. Got the recommended one by Seek - VicTsing - but it does not work, the camera will no connect to the phone.
The camera works fine, I've used it on the girlfriend's phone.
I've also got a small usb inspection camera that runs off a micro-usb port on a mobile phone, but it too doesn't work on my 6P.
So I'm beginning to think that something isn't working properly with the usb port on my phone, not sure if it's a physical problem or something in the soft/firmware set-up that I need to click or unclick, etc.
Any ideas on how I can fully check that the usb port is working on the phone please?
Anyone?
Make sure you use a compatible USB-C to micro USB adapter. Not all of them will work properly. I also remember something about Google didn't want adapters to work, that's why you'll need a cable I think. What kind of adapter are you using?
As mentioned in my post, it's a VicTsing and is recommended by Seek. It's a USB-C to Micro USB converter.
I've tried a couple of devices that claim to connect V20 to tv by wired usb c to HDMI connector. They work for a while then the picture is lost or the phone itself freezes up. About the longest play I've gotten successfully is an hour but usually something goes wrong within 15 minutes.*
The phone has been out over 6 months now so I thought someone may have found a really dependable HDMI connector? I don't mind the lack of power in because I can always change batteries but phone should be able to play through HDMI long enough to watch one movie. That's all I really need hut I don't want to have to screw around with it 10 times to watch one movie.
Thanks so much for your help!
I've been wanting to make use of this feature, but haven't extensively yet. I have though gotten to make fair use of a micro-USB to HDMI adapter. A few trouble spots come to mind here.
Sounds like you're powering the adapter/phone from an external power source? How good is that power source? My micro-USB to HDMI was distinctly less reliable when plugged in since I was merely powering it from a normal USB port. Try running it entirely from the phone's battery. If this works better then it could be you really need a higher power source when using the adapter.
How good is your HDMI cable? Depending on how strongly the phone/adapter drives the HDMI signal, a lower quality cable could break the camel's back.
I've been running into a different bit of trouble with USB-C to HDMI adapters. I've found several of these, but whenever they've got a USB-C pass-through, the pass-through is strictly for power and does not carry the USB signals. The MyDP specification allows for USB3 to be passed through if 1 or 2 pairs are used for the HDMI signal, but allows for USB2 to be passed through no matter how many pairs are used for the HDMI signal. There are adapters which also include USB-A port(s), yet none which include an external USB-C with the USB signals. Grr!
I use C to HDMI not micro usb. V20 doesn't use micro usb. It uses slimport. I have one adapter which allows simultaneous charging and one strictly slimport C to HDMI. Both behave the same way. I have a high quality 2.5 foot HDMI wire.
Power source was Samsung tv usb powered output 1 amp. Point is I have the same issue with pure slimport and no charging.
The one that allows simultaneous charging does in fact charge and work but always craps out but so does the slimport C to HDMI.
Hmm, entertaining what you find when you do research. I suspect the V20 is using the "MyDP" specification, which is the official specification name behind "Slimport". Seems there are at least two other video out methods for USB-C.
I haven't done enough with the video-out feature of my V20 to have much experience yet. With a V10 whenever an adapter was plugged in without external power there were no problems, but when an adapter with external power was plugged in video wasn't reliable.
I'm interested in reading if you find out anything.

Sorry I haven't tried, but its seems to connect smoother the a wifi dongle.
does anyone know if there's a compatible dongle for the V20 with not only hdmi but also power input and usb host?
Happening to me too - Any suggestions
Your situation's description fits my problem exactly. I have a USB C to HDMI that was vouched as working by several V20 owners. I plug it into my Dell monitor to play games on a bigger screen. It works well for a while, then disconnects and popup on my screen says something like, "LG Bridge has stopped working do you want to exit?". Once this happens, it's almost impossible to get the V20 to share the screen again. It's not a hub, just a USB C (male) to HDMI (female).
