Help with latest CyanogenMod - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry I do not have enough permission to post in that Cyanogenmod thread. Pardon me.
Here is my issue...
Updated to 4.3 and realised camera and dialer does not work.
So I go back to 4.2.2. It got stuck at the rotating cyanogenmod boot.
Anyone can help? I do not want to lose all my apps data and files!
Thanks in advanced.

What do you think was going to happen? You can't dirty flash a new Rom, then dirty flash the old one.
This is what I would do:
Reflash 4.3 again in recovery ( this should let you boot back up into the OS)
Download Titanium and backup all apps + data
Go back to recovery
Factory reset your phone
flash 4.3 rom again
Flash the latest gapps from goo.im/gapps

ok i managed to get back on 10.2
But whenever I click on the Menu icon, I keep getting the error "Trebuchet has stopped.."
I have already clear the data and cache for Trebuchet as advised by many via Google. However, the problem persist.
Any idea?

Plug your phone into the computer
download this program:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36499906
use this to backup all your apps + data to your computer
then do the factory reset.

You updated the bootloader and radio as well right?

Best solution will be a total wipe - you can either download stock factory image using android SDK tools or use one of the toolkits such as Wugfresh toolkit. If you can backup your photos and important stuff on your phone besides apps I would go for this
If you want to go back to 4.2.2. Flash factory image, root and flash CM 10.1.2 and if you would like to go for CM 10.2 nightlies than go for the 4.3 factory image. The Wugfresh toolkit will enable you both options. H&

[HELP] Root Problem

Hi,
I rooted my Nexus S but somewhere around got lost and panic. So don't have any backup. Will try to explain everything in order to see if anyone can help me.
Followed this h**p://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-root-nexus-s/ guide and did everything. was going well. But after the bootroot step things got messy. Now I can only enter recovery mode, and even upload ROM's. But none of the Back, Search or Home key on the phone work. Even tried to install Stock Google 2.3.3 but it doesn't install at all. Anyone can say if it was the Bootrood and how I can revert. Or is my Nexus S bricked...
Thanks and sorry for the bad english.
R.
For hacking Nexus S, I would suggest doing it from the Android Development forums for Nexus S rather than a website. And Recovery, you aren't supposed to be using Back, Search, Home key.. its the volume buttons and power button.
What Recovery are you using? Clockwork or Stock?
using clockwork. the buttons don't work after. when i install any rom. after. and the stock roms just don't install.
Bootloaderversion - I9020XXkA3
Baseband Version - I9020XXKB3

what are the steps you are using to flash a ROM? just asking to see if you're doing it properly. list what ROM, and Clockwork 3.0.0.5 correct?
Tried already CyanogenMod7 Nightly #12, Axura-1110-NSE, GingerS-ROM-v0.7-signed and the GRI40 2.3.3 (stock).
Yes, my ClockworkMod is v3.0.0.5.
I manage to install the rom's, but the problem is after. Looks like the screen isn't calibrated. And none of the Home,Search,Back and Options 'keys' work. Just power, and the volume. but if the phone enters in standby mode I can't get him back. Any way to just put it like factory again. In other words, is it possible to 'Unroot' or just get the stock working?

Screen not being calliberated is a 2.3.3 problem with yellowish tint. To fix this you need a kernel supporting Voodoo Color. And yes, download a nandriod backup and restore it. You can find the backups on the Dev forum.
already wiped everything from the phone.
the problem is that none of the keys after work.

Wiped Dalvik / Cache / Data? Try downloading a nandroid backup from the dev forums then Nandroid Restore, and for a LAST RESORT. you can try Odin but I never used it for the NS.
If not then, you seriously messed up your phone by doing improper instructions on that website (or. the website did it wrong)

How to do this on windows7 or Mac?
already did that. wipe all the cache and data. everytime i try to install a rom need to do that.
how to do Nandroid restore.
Problem solved.. still don't know how.. but it seems to be working. Many thanks!
nandroid restore: download one.. put it in clockworkmod/backup
then go into backup/restore in recovery
dalvik wipe is in advanced in recovery

Reset password, android 4.2 (cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly)

*** Please note that the search topic search is temporarily unavailable *** this is kind of an emergency thread
I just updated my Nexus S to android 4.2 using a nightly build of cyanogenmod 10.1.
I was using a 5x5 grid password and the upgrade has reset it to 3x3, so I'm unable to enter my old password.
I guess any old way of resetting the password should work. I tried google but the only solutions I found won't work. The "forgot password" function doesn't appear, and the market application that was recommended doesn't exist or isn't compatible.
I tried to roll back to the previous version, but the phone stays stuck at the boot animation so I had to re-upgrade.
Any link or info on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated :fingers-crossed: . If I don't find any way to fix this before tomorrow, I'll have to wipe the phone :crying: not the best time of the year.
Did you wipe data factory reset before restoring the previous cm10?
If you have a nandroid of pre-upgrade you could go back to it... Change locks teen function, and then re-upgrade and re-change lock screen back to 5x5...Otherwise you may be hosed...

I had a nandroid but it is very old. I thought my automatic backup was a full backup, but it is only an application data backup.
I read somewhere that there was a way to install something through adb or install a zip through cm recovery to override the password settings. Is it possible??
Oh well I just found how. It worked by flashing a zip using cm recovery that resets the lock settings
unfortunately the forum doesn't allow me to post a link, it was from the garage4hackers forum.

[Q] How to get rid of "System UIDs Inconsistent"?

I was on 4.2.1, rooted, and with TWRP as recovery.
I wanted to get the OTA to 4.2.2 so I did full Titanium backup and then used the WugFresh toolkit to flash stock 4.2.1.
After flashing, I was offered the OTA which I allowed to install.
When finished, I got root back with Rootkeeper and restored all Apps and Data (not System data) with Titanium.
Everything was working, but on every reboot I got the message :
"System UIDs Inconsistent. UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable."
I also found that My Phone Explorer would no longer connect via USB so I decided to go back to 4.2.1.
I again flashed it with the toolkit and did another restore with Titanium. Again, everything seems to be working, but I still get this message on every boot.
I thought using Titanium Backup was a standard way of restoring apps and data.
How do I get rid of this message without wiping and reinstalling all my Apps individually, which means losing all my game scores, etc?
I also see that in Bootloader there is a line
"Signing - not defined yet".
I do not know if that was there before flashing back to stock.
same problem
system UIDs inconsistent, it keeps showing up after every boot.
i have nexus 7 GSM 32 gb rooted using nexus 7 toolkit with clockworkmod recovery, android version 4.2.1 build number JOP40D
i tried Rom manager fix permission the same problem, i don't like resetting it any suggestion
thank you

I found the answer in another thread. I used TWRP (Advanced - Fix Permissions). It was instantly fixed.
I took a full backup before trying this, but didn't need it.

You can boot any recovery you want without hard-flashing it to the device (so long as the boot loader is unlocked).
With the device in bootloader/fastboot mode,
Code:
fastboot boot name-of-recovery-image-file.img
So download TWRP and give it a roll.
Hello,
I got the same "System UIDs Inconsistent" problem. I like to solve my problems myself but I've got no way out this time, so I'm asking for your kind help.
I'm on the SGS III, i9300, I rooted it then went to Omega ROM, and then to Paranoid Android. Everything went well until I got a battery problem (when charging the phone, it was not sufficient to bear with it functionning, so it powered out while charging). After that, the phone restarted and the UID problem appeared. Maybe it's just a coincidence.
So far, I : fixed permissions, did at least 10 factory resets with TWRP, changed ROM (went to CM and came back to PA as nothing changed).
I read the 6 first post about this in xda forum, and other forums too, but nothing came out as an evidence.
Last thing I did was upgrade my PA ROM : the phone couldn't even go beyond the booting process, failed to initiate the phone "first settings" app.
So I came back to the previous version of PA, and was able to use my phone again, but apps like Gmail, Color Note, won't work.
I want to get rid of that, and I wish someone told me, step by step, the things I could do to eradicate the problem. I will do what's necessary to achieve that, I only need someone who knows what to do, and how to do it. I saw some tricks that maybe could do the job but I don't have the knowledge to choose one.
That's my first message here so I hope I didn't break the rules of the forum ^^ If you want any informations about my device to help me, just ask
Thanks a lot, and I hope my english is not too bad ! Have a good day.
Thanks
I got this message too without having any other problem with this TWRP version or Hairy Bean 2.2
The message appeared after flashing the new 4.2.1 (?) modded bootloader for Hairy Bean and the ROM itself.
I'm not sure whether the ROM or bootloader are causing it but mine got fixed by fixing the permissions via TWRP.
Thanks for the tip! :good:
In my case only re-partitioning helped.
for me uninstalling quadrant did the trick
That did it

This worked for me, too. Thank you.
My situation was a little bit different:
- Flashed Paranoid Android 3.99
- everything was fine (for a few reboots) until I made a nandroid back up with CWM 6.0.3.6 ( which was surprisingly slow, almost 1,5h)
- rebooted
- UID consistency problem
- tried to boot temporary into TWRP - NOT POSSIBLE!
- flashed TWRP 2.6.0.0 permanently
- TWRP: advanced - fix permissions: SUCCESSFUL!
Maybe I'll keep TWRP, but I'm used to CWM for years now.
CWM has removed "fix permissions" since 6.0.3.5 (http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/45945/ )
Fix Permissions
For me worked fixing permissions through TWRP on CM 10.2 latest nightly (10082013).

Me too! TWRP on SlimRom 4.3
Thanks
I am also having this issue after I flashed SlimBean Beta 4 Weekly-409 on my i9300 (wipe data/cache/dalvik and clean install with gapps) and tried restoring a couple of apps like Any do and Temple Run 2 with Titanium Backup.
Is the TWRP being referred here mean the TWRP manager? I installed it from play store but I don't find 'fix permissions' option anywhere in it.
I remember of seeing it in SuperSU but I am unable to install that as well as it says the binary needs to updated.
Could someone please help me here?
Thanks!

Confirmed. Get into the TWRP n do a fix cache wipe/dalvik wipe/fix permission

I just updated my S4 to 10.1 Hyperdrive and experienced this very same issue. Rebooting into safestrap and fixing permissions cleared up this very annoying issue on my phone.
I flashed gummy V4.4 yesterday works great. I went into rom toolbox and changed LCD density to 361 and rebooted, got the UID inconsistent message.
found this thread, fix permissions in TWRP, all fixed. bing bang boom.
thanks all, I also fixed with TWRP latest version, and try to roll back to CWM
I installed a new ROM and I got the System UIDs inconsistent error, then my S Planner FC. I went to find the txt file and it stated that the problem is related to Calendar Storage. I deleted the apk and placed a new one back in. Problem persists, I scratched my head for so long and then I found this thread.
THANK YOU, fixing permission for the Calendar Storage did the trick! Thank God I found this thread!

Seems like its a known issue in the latest nightly. Youll need to revert back to yesterdays. Read this

reflash the last working rom. if you dont have it in your storage, youll have to push it to your phone over adb via your recoverys adb push option.

[Q] revert back to 4.3 from 4.4

Does anyone have a noob way of reverting back to 4.3 from 4.4?? Everytime i do it it just gets stuck in a black screen after the google unlock boot screen.
I wipe everything data/cache/dalvik/format system, then install rom and gapps. But nothing. Maybe I am doing something wrong but i cannot find any info on this problem. I also went back to dalvik from using ART so thats not stopping anything from booting?
thanks for suggestions or help in advance. :good::good:
