Is anyone else having problems with their Q since about mid afternoon today being able to set it up. Either the servers are having issues or Google shut them down since we got it working again.
Any input would be great

Hello, new member here. I am also having problems with the app. I can't get past the startup page after clearing my data. I was trying root my nexus q and was unsuccessful. The Q seems to be operating fine but I can't connect to it, that's when I decided to clear the app data.
Now, i'm screwed.

I'm also trying to prepare a Nexus Q for CM, and can't enable USB debugging via the smartphone app w/o some kind of Google Nexus Q Web service being unavailable.
I phoned the tech support number described in the Nexus Q help option (1-855-836-3987) and a very polite guy told me that the Nexus Q is unsupported. Maybe receiving phone calls from some other development community members might help to motivate Google to develop a friendly "sendoff" application to make all the orphaned devices to stay functional.

What's worse is that the "other" fully supported Google phone, the Nexus One, still has the Facebook contacts integration.

not necessarily Sprint people, but yes that seem to be a trend in the EVO section. BTW I thought I was going crazy when I could not sinc my FB contacts, Oh well will have to wait till CM merges the changes needed for the NS4G.

You might have noticed I thanked your comment. It was because it is a perfect example of how to not follow the rules here. Thanks for that!
Facebook Integration
Google has removed the integration on it for now. When it is reinstated it will allow Google to have access to your friends profile pictures even when you do not have Facebook integrated on your phone. Google wanted to be able to have more open access to Facebook's information rather than only gaining that information when the phone was synced with Facebook. So when Facebook syncing resumes your Google contact list will pull you Facebook friend's profile pictures will be integrated with your google contact from then on. They are wanting to be able to keep all this information on hand so there is no need to re sync every time there is an update.
This site gives pretty nice instructions on how to make the build yourself
I would make it, but I don't have a large enough hard drive
Right now it's slow and in early alpha, Hardware Acceleration doesn't work as of now.
So until someone can dump the IMG files, this is how it's done.

A friend of mine is right now for the 4G. Let's see how this works..
the result file should be .img files that have to be flashed via fastboot.
So everything will be erased, recoveries, ROM's and your SDCARD/eMMC
Does it wipe SD card?

My friend is currently trying to get a version that we can flash, because normally it just transfers straight from adb. He has to fix permissions and symlinks of the dump. Hopefully if everything goes right we should have a build by tonight
I would really appreciate this, been wanting to try it out, but don't have a PC running linux now.
Interesting. If I get time I might setup Ubuntu in Virtual Box and give it a try.
I'm so trying this when it's fully functional, even if I have to wait a long time.
Whoever is in charge of the UI is great at what they do, it's really nice looking. Especially the dialer.
Wow , I find this thread now ... I feel stupid for posting my thread now .. Alright Everything is Done , but one question ... If I flash this will clockworkmod go away, or anything from my memory ? like all my music and etc ... Just need to get things clear

was there an issue with the build that caused it to get pulled?? I'd like to try it out since I've already got your zip.

Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Personally, I think that unless you actually have something important and confidential to protect, it really doesn't warrant the use of encryption. It makes things a pain in the arse e.g. updates, some recoveries don't work with encryption etc.
Hi everyone
i know nexus 4 comes with stock rom from google, but there must be things that you recommend removing to keep the beast going at 100% pace.
also, i am a privacy geek and would love to know which of apps i should disable to give as least as possible to google?
at one point i remember a rom that was the stock android but it had all of google's collections bots/apps disabled. Cant seem to think of it

If you want to receive OTA updates then you have to keep all the apps but you can disable them.
I've disabled Google movies and magazines.
If you really want to avoid Google you should install cyanogen mod without the gapps. You won't require a gmail account to use your phone but that means you have to use alternative market places.
There are open source apps for almost everything but I've never used them so can't say. I know there is a open source maps app though but probably doesn't come close to Google apps.

It depends on how you define bloatware. Some see it as being anything preinstalled on the device that isn't absolutely necessary, which means that most of the GApps that come on the N4 are bloatware. Personally I disagree with that definition of bloatware but you can see why people may think that way.
