Hey guys,
I just bought a new Galaxy S4 I9500 [Baseband Version - I9500JKUAMD9 Build Number - JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDE] + SanDisk 64gb microSD card.
I have a really strange issue with my music files, they are not recognized by the stock music player or any other player except VLC.
The mp3 files are on my external memory, folder 'music'.
The strange thing is that the players recognize only 10 out of 1700 songs, BUT when I'm browsing with ES browser to the mp3 files and renaming them, the music players recognize the renamed mp3s.
I've tried transferring the files by just copying them to the sd card and by using Kies, the same problem.
Can anyone tell me why do the music player recognize the songs only after renaming them?
Pay attention to where you get your stuff from to avoid a $700 paperweight
There are many carriers and models of S4

Go into Application Manager and clear the data for Media Storage. Reboot and once startup has finished, leave for about 5 minutes for your media storage data to rebuild.

When I play back music on the Tytn from storage card on Windows Media Player through the speaker of Tytn - skips and stutters during playback of song.
Anyone have this problem or is it my storage card?
Thanks appreciate the help.
I don't have this problem (MP3 or WMA).
Try to copy the files to internal storage and play it from there. If it work, your SD-Card coult by damaged or simply to slow?!
My Wizard used to suffer this problem until I bought a new, high-speed storage card. No more problems now
it might be worth formatting the stick and re-transferring the files back onto it. Make sure you don't transfer the files seperately at the same time. This can fragment the files and cause stutter.
You can highlight all the files you want and send them across in 1 block but not individually more than 1 at a time - if you know what I mean!
I'll Start from the beginning,
Before the S4 was released I owned a Note 2 and I purchased a 64gb micro SD for it (sandisk), I used an app called iSyncr which syncs your itunes playlists straight to your phone's micro SD card.
Once I got my S4 I decided to move my micro SD card from my Note 2 into my S4 ( I've always done this when getting newer phones and never had problems with empty playlists)
Now I seem to have problems with Empty playlists, sometimes my music will be in them, other times they are empty, After a reboot my playlists will be empty, I often use the force media scanner app, sometimes this works but I then end up with duplicate playlists, one of them being empty, the other having the music in them.
I've tried renaming the folder my music is located in just in case it conflicts with other folder names, this hasn't worked.
I'm at a point now where I just don't understand why I'm having such problems and it's driving me crazy!
Your help would be much appreciated
Thanks

Same here,
Sometimes my music player recognizes the mp3 files and sometimes it recognizes just 20 of them
(I have around 1700 mp3 files on my sd card)
I've read about some issues with SanDisk 64gb sd cards, but I don't really see any solution =[
Hi everyone!
I hope there is a fix to this issue as it is very frustrating.
I have a Samsung S4 running Kit Kat. Recently I tried to add new music to my phone through Samsung Kies. After adding the music files, I tried to play them on my phone, but it would always say "Music Playback Error"
After looking around online for tips, I deleted all the songs off my SD card. I then cleared the Data and the cache for both Google Play Music and the Samsung Music Player. I added a few songs again just to see if it would work. This time, the songs play really fast, as if they are on fast forward.
I tried to delete these songs once again, but all the file names had been transformed into numbers and they all begin with a "µ" symbol, and every time I try to delete the files, it says "Delete failed"
I don't know if this is an SD card problem, or what it might be, but any help would be appreciated!
Would I have to root my phone?

try this:-
1. backup any important file on your sd card
2. format your sd card
3. copy your song through mass storage mode or mtp mode.don't use kies to send file to your phone
4. (optional) check your computer for virus
I noticed, that the Samsung music player does not show music files which are stored on the external sd.
Is there any solution for this? Apart from moving the music to the internal storage or using another player app?

That is very strange, I keep all 320+ mp3 songs all on my external sd card
and the note 4 plays em all just like all the other android phones I have had.
Good luck!
Indeed strange. Just now I noticed that my music files are showing up twice. The ones in internal memory and the ones on SD card.
Interestingly not all music files on SD are shown?
EDIT: I think I got it. after removing every none-music file from the Music directory and its subdirectories everything seems to work now from external sd.
I guess there were some .nomedia files which were confusing the media scanner.
Hi I have an H990DS running Super Rom V20 V4.1 and before all my songs on my SD card would automatically be detected by the default music player but now it won't. It's weird considering that if you tap the three - icon on the top right then go to Folders it would say that its detected some songs within the correct folders it used to have but when you open the folder (still on the music player) it will say No music.
The songs are definitely being read by the device as the File Manager is able to play them, just not the default player. Anyone know what could be wrong?
EDIT: I was able to fix this by simply using File Manager to move all my files to another folder. No idea what happened honestly. I just hope my SD Card isn't dying because it's a 200GB one that I got for free when I bought my LG V10.
