With every electronic gadget using Lithium-ion batteries nowadays, it doesn't really matter how/when you charge it.
Some would argue to make sure to allow a full discharge from a full charge from a battery calibration point of view, so the battery meter is more accurate. It wouldn't affect the health of the battery itself either way.
Things like memory effect doesn't apply to lithium-ion. How often you charge it and how much you charge it (full or partial charge etc.) doesn't affect it much either. The only 2 things that can potential kill a lithium-ion is high temperature and letting it discharge far too low to the point that it cannot be charged up again. Note that all electronic devices will power off way before it even reaches this threshold.

Read this in a different thread when i was unboxing my nexus 7, i let mine sit for a while on the charger before i turned it on, but it came charged already. So far i have not let my nexus drain to 0% and the battery life on it is great, it can go for a entire day.

No luck for me i guess it shows that there is an update it downloads it and boot into recovery attempts to install but then an android robot laying down whit his chest open and a red triangle appears ?

Sounds like it may be a corrupt download. Unless you plan to remain on the stock ROM just unlock/root it and then install what ever ROM you like.

Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows a setting in the latest kernel (008-tbm) that affects wireless charging. I am on stock ROM with only this kernel installed. Wireless charging worked fine until I installed this kernel, so I know something is goofed up with my kernel settings. I'm UV -12.5 mV global

try raising your voltages, undervolting can have create such issues. every device is different in what it likes and dislikes.
OK thanks for the help guys. I'll try that right away. Right now it'll show as charging for about five minutes and then for some reason will stop.

Posts like yours are more annoying than the original threads.

you should try a different kernel, just to make sure. it takes seconds to flash a kernel, so that shouldnt be an issue. if it works fine with another kernel, then the issue is the kernel. if the same issue persists, then its your rom or device.

Yeah I'm on faux's kernel as well with no wireless charging problems. There's a good chance that it might be stopping because your battery is getting too hot. Do you have daydream enabled? Does your phone feel hot when charging?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I just got it working for about 30 minutes and my phone is super hot. It's never been this hot before so I'm gonna try a new kernel and see what happens like someone said earlier to narrow it down if it's the kernel for sure
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
What charger are you using? Some do not work well with the N4.
I have used several different kernels and none have affected the wireless charging. My phone gets up to 41°C while charging wirelessly so getting hot is not unusual.
I'm using the official nexus charging orb from Google play. I just flashed a new kernel and wireless charging seems to be back working. I'm gonna give it another hour just to make sure before I make any assumptions
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
One weird thing I did notice though is that on faux kernel I could not UV past -50mV without my phone rebooting, making my lowest clock of 384Mhz at 850mV. However I'm on harsh kernel right now and it shows that my lowest clock is at 800mV stock without any adjustments and is working fine. Would that make any sense? I know the governors could possibly be more or less harsh on the battery but shouldn't the failure value resulting in rebooting be the same no matter what governor or kernel you use? I'm by no means an expert as to why I'm asking
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Is not unheard of to not be stable at the same voltages with different kernels. Also if you were using one of the kernels with turbo boost your chip may have needed a higher voltage for the higher frequencies. Or not, I don't know lol.
Glad your charger is working now. I like Harshes kernel.
I've had this phone for just under a week. I'm rooted, but running stock. Is Google Services supposed to be using this much battery (more than the screen)? The screen had 2 hours and 44 minutes.
Thanks for any assistance!

I never had the issue just like many of you dont see this Android System taking up all the cpu. I wonder if that's caused by me having my GPS on and set to show my location at all times so my close friends can locate me.

i do know it, i have been investigating about it without much success.
Mainly i can make it dissapear for half day if i use WIFI, once wifi is enabled the wake lock dissapears when i stop using wifi or do an experiment with it.
but somehow the error comes back once in a while, after a reboot, or after charging it.
no kernel fix it, no Rom fix it, im putting my hopes on CM

there are pre-rooted stock roms which are not supposed to increase the flash counter.
And i confirmed it, i toggled FD and the wakelockappeared, changed roms and tried that again, and the WL dissapeared.
But still my battery life sucks though, getting a honami when its out.

honami is the code name for the i1(naming confirmation pending from sony, will be disclosed at IFA or so we hope).
after A LOT of hate which went throught the phone, i updated the arrow rom to 5.1, deactivated FD, and nothing,i was getting 10% in 3 hours, for some reason i dont remember i rebooted the phone, and the darn phone still have the same charge from yesterday te phone have 24 hours of uptime (taking in account i have done some serious undervolt to the phone). i was getting about an hour per % an a half with hangouts and whatsapp freezed and in NO use or just checking the bat.
Not bad but too much work to have a "regulary updated" phone to work properly.
now i dont even know what will happen when i recharge the phone again what kind of behaivor will have this darn non-optimized phone I'll be reporting what happens.

Where do I find the setting for Fast Dormancy?
So I have had good battery from my note 2 - recently got a s4 love it! But 65 percent of the battery is used by the screen on automatic battery. I had a custom ROM it said the screen was taking a smaller percentage of my screen. Is this a fact or was I dreaming?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
The screen using the battery is because of you, the user. When the screen is off, it uses no battery. When it is on, it is using battery.
Sent from my SGH-I337 using xda premium
It all depends on the user...heres some tips ive learned to lower that precentage:
1) lower brightness (I know obvious)
2) use dark themes/wallpapers (lighter colors use up kore battery than dark ones on amoled screen...and I believe pure black actualy turns off the pixels, so a pure black background may help)
Ehh thats actually all I can think of...thought I had more lol

But I don't understand. I had the note 2 and had auto brightness because I want to see the phone in the day light. It never had 62 percent or 50 whatever percent using the screen. With a custom ROM I had more battery with clean rom

It depends on your usage. I am pretty sure that your daily usage is not the same. You do not get any screen usage with the screen turned off. Screen usage comes into play when the screen is on. For instance, yesterday, my screen took up 60% of my total usage. Today it was at 45%. A custom ROM has little to do with how the screen works.
Auto brightness varies as well... Too many factors that has nothing to do with the ROM. It is all user based.

Alright. Well, it said using auto brightness could save battery usage. But sometimes I have the save battery option on. Thought I'm not sure it helps more. I actually went to try and look for a post about " better battery stats" but for some odd reason, when going to it using my phone, it lags ridiculously bad! I haven't gone on a computer to see if it was in fact my phone. But, all other posts and topics are fine
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
The screen will always be number one user unless you didn't use your phone that day.
Like other people said, darker (black) themes. Set the time out really short and turn on Smart Screen. Auto brightness works fine for me, or you can manually turn it lower.
