Anyone managed to get 3G dongle working with the Nexus 7 Flo with PPP Widget?
I am using huawei E1820 and getting "no driver" error.
Any insights will be very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Ken

Any news pls?
The new Nexus 7 does not have modem driver inside, so no matter how you try also can't connect the dongle
Is there a way to get the drivers? Will kit kat update solve this and the LEAP WIFI issue?

As far as dongle compatibility is concerned, no there isn't a way to get the drivers, nor will KitKat "solve" anything as there's nothing to solve, it's not a bug or issue, it's just the lack of a feature that, if enabled, would mean far less people buying the LTE version, which just wouldn't make business sense.

There is a kernel with modem drivers baked in for 4.3.

Is there any kernel for CM 10.2?
Dont want to be rude, but why not use a MiFi?

Glitch kernel shoud work with CM 10.2
Is there anyone who works 3g with ppp widget on this kernel?
It shows dialling out, then disconnected.
So it looks like there isn't a sim in the modem (Huawei 12d1:1406) but it works on older nexus 7.
So far no one has been successful connecting the dongle to the tablet?
I've been searching all over the net and nothing has convinced me yet. I have found this thread of a guy of India: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172914 but he is not very clear (or I'm too stupid) with instructions.
Maybe a specific kernel that might accept the dongle?
I'm running a ZTE modem model MF180

Some have reported, in another thread, getting certain dongles to work with the ElementalX kernel (which has the modules for external USB modems, modules that Google removed starting with Android 4.3) and the PPP Widget app. It all depends on the individual dongle. I've recently ordered a portable hotspot as my solution...

Could you tell me which hotspot you ordered? How can you be certain about that's the solution?

Certainly. I ordered a refurbished FreedomPop Photon, and like the company's other devices, there is no charge for the first 500 megs of data per month. This is perfect for my light usage when on the road. It may not be the solution for everyone, but it is for me. Because it's a hotspot, I know my N7 can connect to it like any wifi router, so I don't have to find a kernel that has the necessary modules, or if PPP Widget works with my dongle.

Ok. I got your point. It might not be the ideal solution but it works. Ill try to check if the kernel works with my dongle and if it doesnt i will hace the wifi hotspot in my mind.
Many thanks.

I can also confirm that the latest version of PPP widget application în combination with ElementalX kernel works with my dongle attached via an OTG cable.

Which ROM are you using, stock? I have installed ElementalX kernel and it does recognize my usb stick but it won't let me to connect. It just would stay in 'connecting' and does nothing else.
EDIT: It would also be nice if you'd be able to share your apk settings.
Many thanks,

I'm using CleanRom 2.6 together with ElementalX. I would sure share them but I do not know what exactly you want, if you can be more explicit.
If you are referring to the settings of the PPP Widget, then, in my case I only changed the Apn and the dialing number. That is unfortunately dependent on the provider, it may vary in your case.
I also mentioned the fact that I use the latest version, this is important as the version before did not set the DNS server properly. What you get also try is to set you rom language to English, reboot and then try again.

Hi!
Well, I have a very weird issue with custom ROMs and WiFi.
The history begins last sunday. I was using GingerDX wich is really great, but I had some problems with it, the most important was not being able to install apps in my SD card.
So, I switched to GingerXperia V22, this is a cool ROM too but I really don't like that my music lags when I turn my screen on. Also, the SE default dialer and Infinity view are bad and slow, but I didn't have the problem with WiFi, until I switched to XGin 6.2
Everything worked OK except for this:
El Brillantinas said:
I just realized a terrible and very weird error with this ROM:
I couldn't connect to The WiFi of my mate's office (where Im currently working). But the weirdest thing was the modem worked fine before trying to connect with my Xperia, but after turning the WiFi on, the modem just got busted and didn't work anymore!! So, no internet in the office computers, neither in my iPod, in my mate's smartphone, etc.! It was necessary to turn the modem off and then turning it on, and turning my X8's wifi off to make the modem working properly again.
Weird, huh?
I reflashed, and the error happened again.
So, I flashed back to the ROM I was using before (GingerXperia V22), and now the WiFi is working fine!
Anyone else with that same error or Im the only crazy around here?

I tried kuyaDROID and the same error happened.
I also did a full wipe... And nothing, the WiFi error remains on those two ROMs. So, Im currently using GingerXperia.
So, the question is: Is this really possible? And, is there any solution?
There may be some bug that's overloading it. Also was it the modem or the router? Cuz if it's wifi I would guess its the router but you said modem? I'd just use a different rom that works.

Guess is the router, where the wired networks are connected, it also gives the wireless signal.
As I said, Im sticking with GingerXperia, wich is not causing the error and Im connecting to WiFi with no problems. But I have personal problems with infinity view, SE's dialer and music lagging.
If is about a overloading bug, how could I fix it?
Im using stock kernel, btw.
To tell you the truth, I'm not actually that smart in this, but by overloading I meant that it might be trying to use too much data or something along that line, did it work fine over 3g?
Sent from my LG-VM670 using XDA App
Yeah, I didn't have any problems with 3G.
Don't really have any idea then, I've had problems with mange one device at a time but not fully crashing. Last advice would be that maybe the router has a limit to the number of connected devices it can have and your phone puts it over, try disconnecting one device then connect your phone

I already tried that, and the problem persists.
But this is a good excuse to read and learn eve more, it is a totally new problem for me hehe.
Thanks anyway, for giving suggestions.
I guess I'd try posting in your phones thread and the rom's also, might get better insight into the problem

To further assist you may I ask some questions;
1. What kernel are you using?
2. Have you tried connecting in other Access Point aside from the previous AP you are connecting with?
3. If using custom kernel did you delete all the modules in system/lib/modules?

1. Im in stock kernel.
2. Nope, I didn't try it. I don't have internet in home, but I'd try in my girl's house.
3. same answer than 1.
Thanks for being interested in this curious case.
If your using stock kernel then you shouldn't have to encounter those issues as most roms esp kuyadroid as you mentioned earlier is made for stock rom. I suggest trying into public wifi access and see if you could be able to connect. You have to have two or more access point to test with as router might have different configs than your girls setup.
anyone else use this combo ? isyncr works on the phone via usb cable, cant get the wifi version to work. any tips ?
Yep
Having the same problem with CM10 and iSyncr. Only works over USB cable, not over wifi. Had the same problem in CM9. iSyncr Wifi hasn't worked since CM7. If anyone has a solution I would be grateful.

I'm having the same issue. After exchanging a couple of emails with their support the problem continues unresolved (and with no clue onto how) even in their latest version
I managed to sync via wifi (pc version) once every few dozen tries, but my last successful attempt was almost a month ago
RUnning CM jellybean and I can't get it to work via wifi or USB - really kind of annoying. and thier tech support is non existant. no matter stock rom or any other rom, nothing works.

After more emails exchanged with one of the devs, I made a lot of tests (trying do get the app to work on a number of combinations of ROMs/OS and and detailed it to them. If this will ever make the app work properly I can only hope
On a possibly related issue, anyone here that reposted this problem with isyncr also have a bug were the wifi disconnects after every few Mbs downloaded (either via file download, app updates, normal navigation, youtube, etc) and the wifi icon is still displayed as if it was connected, and mobile network doesn't kick in if it was turned on beforehand?
Because this is also a wifi related bug that a only very few users reported on the CM and MIUI JB threads. Could it be a bug in a specific stock ROM kernel used as base? What SBF file did you flash (or where is your phone from, in case you didn't flash a Different SBF)? My had a Brazilian retail SBF

Don't hold your breath, I went through this exercise over a 3 week period for the developers to just tell me there was nothing they could do about it, so I gave up using this product altogether.
did this ever get resolved ? still doesnt appear to work for me
Nope. As far as I managed to communicate with developers, they couldn't figure it out, and CM10 users seem not do stumble upon this bug (plus an uncommon combination of Device+ROM+app) very often, so it's a bug that gets no attention
iSyncr is working with latest CM10! I don't know for how many builds since it's been a while I last tried to use it, but I can sync music via wifi now

It's responsible for communicating with the wcn3660 chip. The driver can change the wifi mode, etc. Everytime you turn on wifi, it sends a bin file to the chip. By modifying this file you can change mac and I believe you can throw in updated firmware modules as well (but not 100% sure).

Perhaps more stable wifi connection with less battery drainage and more responsive connect-up-and-down.
Ask Doomlord, he is using Prima WLAN driver thing in latest Xperia Z kernels..

Since it's 2015, I was just wondering: Does this Nexus FINALLY support 5GHz wi-fi DFS channels?
For anybody who might be confused: the question means whether it supports more than the four basic 5GHz channels. If yes, then: me = :victory:
Thanks! :highfive:
(hope smbd. knows the answer to this as it hasn't been asked yet... might need to bump this up to the top a couple of times otherwise)
has anybody been able to test this yet?

Well, no one has it yet.
According to iFixit, the Nexus 6P contains the broadcom BCM4358 chip which does support up to 80mhz channelization according to the info at the links below.
https://www.broadcom.com/press/release.php?id=s868805
http://www.digchip.com/datasheets/8767095-bcm4358-broadcom-combo-chip.html
I am currently testing a new wireless deployment and the Nexus 6P is one of my client test devices. I will try to report back once testing is complete.
Sorry to revive an old thread, but any news on this?
My 6P connected to DFS channels fine.

After upgrading to 7.0 or above. Nexus 6P has major issues with respect to WiFi services:
1) Intermittent connect drop
2) Unable to find/connect 5Ghz band services on the mobile device.
As per multiple fourms if someone says, WiFi is working in safe mode or reconnect/re-configure the WiFi services. All those bunch, do not have a solution to this issue.
I neither wish to step on to some other device/make, nor I think this issue could not get fixed. This is an amazing phone with a black spot (WiFi bug) on it. I would really appreciate, if google overcome this issue so that we can enjoy using the device and Google services.
Hi guys.
Is there a ROM with WiFi not slowing down when Bluetooth is active?
Tried multiple ones but there is always this bug.
I don't think there is a chance to get this.
I had the same situation and searched a lot.
What I found out is, that both are using the same frequence range (2,4 GHz) and therefor disturbing each other.
If I am wrong and anyone has a hint, I would be happy.

For me it was always there, even with the latest official MIUI 10 (Android 6). I think I started with MIUI 9.
On my side I have a MI Band 2 connected with my phone and at home I am using a FritzBox 7490 and a FritzBox 4040.

That could explain why it is faster. If I remember correct, my FritzBox shows me the Redmi only uses 70 Mbit Wlan speed with 20MHz Bandwith.
I will recheck this a home. (Didn't check what is shown since I installed Lineageos 15.1)
So maybe 150Mbit Speed and high bandwidth were enabled in older versions (Kernel, Drivers, Configuration).
@vojtah1
Do you know a Rom and version without that problem?
Maybe it is possible to compare the WiFi configs between that rom and get the difference.
