ExtSdCard
Is this right? I tried moving a mp3 over in root explorer and the song is not showing up in app?

Hi all, quick q regarding browsing ex SD folder - I am able to browse folders and see files and copy files to and from the extsd with root explorer, however, when run mx player it doesn't show me any files from extsd.
Have to copy movies to the internal storage for them to show up.
Anyone else have this? Know how to fix? Thanks

MX shows videos on the external sd for me just fine. Did you apply the permissions fix to allow apps to write to the external SD? Not sure if it's necessary but it's the only tweak I have that might affect it.
I used the platform.XML method to allow r/w on exsd. I don't have cwm installed on my tab yet but may try the permission zip and see if that works.

Yeah, editing platform.xml is what I meant so I guess that's not your problem. I didn't bother to swap out stock recovery; you don't need cwm to run videos off the external sd (though checking permissions certainly can't hurt).
In MX preferences you can select folders that it will display video from. I'm pretty sure the default is /mnt (so should include /sdcard as well as all subdirectories, including externalsd), but it's possible that it's been changed. I think it also relies on the built-in media scanner--do your videos show up in Gallery app?

Hi, I found that every time I transfer my music files from my PC using kies into my device they all went into a music folder located inside my device internal storage. Though I have changed the default path and even deleted the music folder inside my device internal memory still that does'nt seems to work. My device is updated with the latest firmware(XXUBMEA later XXUBMF5). Some have suggested that I should 'root' my device, since it is only 3 months old I hesitate because will void the warranty period. Can somebody suggest an alternative solution.
How about select the music files you want then copy and paste to the correct folder you want.
Why do you use kies in the first place?

Scan media with a media scan app from play store
Are the files in a folder named music? This happened to me once. The mp3's were scattered in the root directory of my sd card. So I made a folder named music put all the files in it and it worked. Dont no if it helps you but. Only thing I csn think of.

Done all as suggested still the problem persist... transfer the music files to pc and transfer back to phone after, its still a no go...

First of all, I just created a thread about this but apparently it never posted so if there are multiple threads by me I apologize.
Anyway, I am trying to create a folder in /sdCard that will link to /storage/extSdCard for apps that start in internal sd card but won't let me go up one folder so that I can navigate to external sd card. I did accomplish this on my s2 using directory bind but it doesn't seem to work on my note 3. I'm sorry if this is confusing. I will try to elaborate if needed.

Directory bind is old and no longer supported.
Check out the app "folder mount" in the play store. Worked a charm on my s4 so I'm sure it will be fine on the Note 3 as well.

Has anyone got folder mount to work with the Note 3 yet? I'm running stock MJ7 rooted with Chanfire easy root method, double and triple checked everything. Managed to get the app to move the original data from internal SD to my 64GB Sandisk Class 10 external SD but the link pin will not turn green.
It's driving me mad and I'm on the verge of selling the Note 3 and going back to my S2 (along with the very easy vold.fstab SD card swap mod)!!
Use solid explorer if you want to go up a folder to navigate to external sd. Also note 3 does app2sd so why the need for all this?

App2sd moves the installed app files, not the SD data that many games download in order to play. Some are in excess of 1-2GB and if you have a few installed then your internal SD space soon runs out
Same issue
I created a thread idential to this earlier n however ot realising this one already existed my bad.
Ive had the exact same problem, the closest ive came is with File mount i was able to get Modern combat 4 to work succesfully, but nothing else and i tryed most of the top end games with massive data files.
No ideas why mc4 worked, and real racing 3 worked. All of the other games show up as binding correctly and when i run a check the directorys show as being mounted in the same way as MC4 and real racing 3 however when i run the apk the games cant find the data files and start re downloading.
Hopefully someone works away round this or creates a new programme cause its so restrictive, install the top 10 android games and all your internal memorys completely used up
i used to use apps2sd before directory bind was available but the reality is that its pretty useless now for most modern games,
Can anyone please help me ?, i have copied my music files onto my 64gb mem card i do not know how many times but they keep being deleted ???, this happened on the S5 900F with original software and i have rooted my phone and running Omega 1.7 and it still is deleting my music files. everything else is great pics movies are no problem. i have had all of the S series without any problems ???.
Are they getting deleted of the memory card as in when you open your file explorer and navigate to extsd they are not there or just from your misic player?
If they are disappearing from your music player make sure you dont have a .nomedia file in there. Songs wont come up in the stock media player if that file is in there.
Hope this helps.

no there just dispersing i put the music files in there and when i come to try and play them there gone like they have never been there ??? its weird big time ???
Wow probably try copying all your files off the sd card to your pc and doing a format via the phone. Then copy the files back and see if that helps.
Possibly a bad format or bad card.
