[Q] rogers caller id - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hello,
I'm trying to find the good recipe to have the Rogers caller ID working with ROMS like Infamous / GoldenEye or OMEGA.
I already try to push both Canadian kernel and modem.... No luck.
If I use a ROM based on a Canadian firmware, the caller id is working welll.
Any idea?

With the S3, only certain modems would allow the feature to work. Have you tried them all? There is more than one, and the I337M will only allow modem.bin to be changed by flashing it with ODIN. You may also have to ODIN NON-HLOS.bin
This is all speculation, since it may not work like it did on the S3. My recommendation would be to ODIN back to the oldest I337M stock ROM so that the modem.bin and NON-HLOS.bin will be correct for it work. Continue on with the needed steps to get back on a custom ROM. Just leave the modem alone.

[Q] Modem help for i337M MDJ band

Hi there,
I am using a Canadian i337M on MDJ base with Rogers (RWC).
I've been having serious issues getting the modem to work using various 4.4 ROMs (specifically: MrVirgina's VirginROM link and Danvdh's Dandroid GPE link. The ROMS are both perfect and I would desperately love to use either.
I know I have to ODIN the 4.3 modem.bin and a NON-HLOS.bin. But I have tried a few methods and nothing seems to get the desired result.
Mr.Viginia suggested to anthor poster, to 1) use a 4.2.2 NON-HLOS and 2) a 4.3 Modem.bin. (link).
I have a stock 4.2.2 MDJ RWC rom, so I can get the NON-HLOS.
But I cannot find a 4.3 MDJ RWC rom to get the modem.bin.
My questions are:
1) is the approach from MrVirgina viable?
2) Do I need the modem.bin specific to MDJ, or will another work? Like MD6 from Samfirmware.
3) Assuming I need a 4.3 MDJ modem, where can I find one?
I should mention that I have been using MrVirginia's VirginROM for a few months with no issues (ver 4.3)
Please point me in the right direction. I truly appreciate your help.

Why not flash back to stock and update to 4.3?

Yes, I had considered that option, but I had a hard time finding a stock 4.3 ROM with MDJ band. Lots of 4.3 with other baseband out there, but not so much MDJ (at least that I could find).
At any rate, I was eventually successful at getting modems and sound to both work again. Although I cant remember specific order in which I did it, I used a 4.2.2 NON-HLOS with MDJ band and a 4.3 modem.bin with MK6 baseband.
Thanks again for the suggestion.
Can you post up links to the files you downloaded? I have been searching for this for at least 4 hours. Starting to drive me nuts.
Thanks in advance
Sure thing, these are the two links I used:
4.2.2 Stock ROM from GalaxyS4Root.com (link)
4.3 Stock ROM for XDA (link)
Make sure you get the correct carrier too.
I am sure there are many other out there, but these worked for me.

[Q] Issues with Google ROM and Radio

Hello,
I'm having some trouble getting a custom ROM to function properly. I've tried two different Google based ROMs and I no signal whatsoever. I have a friend who has the same phone, same provider and country and can get these ROMs working fine. He suggested that it is due to my older modem version and should consider updating it. I was told I could simply revert back to the stock Samsung ROM and do a Software Update and it should grab the new modem firmware but when I tried to do this, it told me my phone had been modified and I could not receive updates. How can I update the modem version to the newest without having to restart from an unrooted factory default phone?
Any suggestions and help are appreciated
Thanks

Okay, well here's some progress. I found a .tar.md5 file of the latest 4.3 Jelly Bean for the SGH-I337M.
After downloading the md5 file, I opened it with an archiver and I see the 'modem.bin'.
Can I install this modem binary file via the 'phone' option in ODIN to update my modem version to MK6?
Thanks

Flashing a New Modem / Baseband

Hi there,
I just started testing a custom ROM (audax) on top of my G928G that was originally running with PDA G928GUBU2AOJ4 / CSC G928GZTO2AOJ4 with arter97´s kernel and Phillz Recovery.
All went well with the ROM flashing.
But then I downloaded the modem / baseband from the ROM´s thread (CP-MODEM G928F: Modem_XXU2AOKB) and tried flashing it with Odin (using the CP option).
I hit the start button and it appeared to be flashing... but returned a fail at the end.
The cellphone is fully operational.
What did I miss? Do I have to flash the modem AND the bootloader together for it work?
Thanks in advance!
Well... just tried flashing the bootloader and modem, and this is what I´ve got...
Any ideas?
You may need to get the equivalent for the G variant that you have. I've tried cross flashing modems before on my W8 variant, without success. It's possible that it may work with some modification, but I'm not sure what would be required (or if that is even right). If you just download the full ROM for the G variant from somewhere like sammobile then you can extract at least the modem and flash it..

Needing some help - Custom ROM back to Stock and now can't enable WIFI

Hello,
I have an I337 - Fido - Galaxy S4.
I was using an I9505 ROM.
I just flashed stock Fido ROM using Odin.
Everything seems to be working except for my WIFI.
When I try to turn the WIFI on the switch doesn't stay on...Just switches back to off.
I have done battery pull, and factory reset.
Can't seem to find a solution.
Some help would be great. Thanks.

Used the stock rom from sammobile.com - Fido - Seemed to install Bell bloatware though.
Carrier reads Fido.
Not sure how to check modem, bootloader and IMEI...
Doesn't really matter which carrier firmware you flash as all Canadian carriers use the same firmware with a bit of customization.
Did you flash stock 4.4.2 or 5.01?

I just reflashed the rom and seems like we are in business.
Thanks anyways!
I guess someone can close this.

S4 wifi stopped working - trying to slide but wont stay at ON

Hello,
So this I337m S4 wifi stopped working right after when I try to change "SYSTEM language" by installing TELCEL spanish rom from sammobile for the exact same model number i337m and android OS. This telcel trick worked pretty good many times earlier to change all system language in i337m phones to spanish. Anyways, after this when wifi stopped working I tried to put the original ROM from same provider and same version but the wifi wont work. The wifi slides to ON but then goes back to OFF position.
I tried fixing problem from following http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att/help/wifi-properly-nvm-damage-t2841529 thread but the solution didnt work because there IS no file in efs folder, efs folder is empty while at the same time IMEI is there in phone and bluetooth is working fine too, its wifi which stopped working.
-> I have also tried installing custom ROMS but still wifi wont work
-> I have also tried installing android OS from 4.3 to 5.1.1 but still it won't work.
-> I have also tried different modems and roots
Its not a hardware problem as it was working pretty fine before I changed ROM.
Please tell me how to fix it.
I really appreciate your efforts.
THank you
no one?>
Did you flash the ROM to an i337 or i337m? The i337 is the AT&T version of the s4.

I flashed i337 ROM to an i337m initially to get spanish language
I suggest flashing a stock 337m rom to see if that fixes wifi.

Model number is I337M in download mode also sticket at the back says same i337m, sorry I forgot to write M in first post after i337
Maybe flashing the i337 rom to an i337m did something to the software side of things?
it was happened to me too...i fixed it via flashing another kernel...
or try install a complete stock rom...that has to fix it..
In order to /EFS/ files to show the device must be rooted.
