happy with my A7 so far! Is anyone running 2.3 gingerbread on their A7? if so can you provide instructons on how to install.
No! We must get kernel sources from stream tv networks first! Without it we can't develop custom ROMs, only small modifycations over system image like Dexter did ( anyway he is great man

I was just wondering if there were any resources for someone trying to make a custom rom besides what's at the android developers site. I have no experience in writing scripts besides the simple stuff I used to do in fedora. I'm asking this question because I don't want to be a leech, I want to be able to contribute in any way possible. I'm also trying to learn something new. Thanks in advance.

No buddy, he is saying he wants to build his own ROM but he cant find any user friendly guide to make it I too thought of making ROMs some months before but changed my mind due to this same problem..
hey guys!
i've decided to unlock my device to start with the modding...
i really like a lot of roms for our device but i cannot choose... i would know (maybe from who used these roms) what is the best rom on the customization aspect... i really really like aokp based roms because they have tons of options but i like also the paranoid android that is the only rom for now (for what i've read) that has the single layout app customization...
so i'm a little bit confused... can you help me please???
thanks!!
PS: what kernel do you recommend to use??

If you want AOKP based roms, try Dirty AOKP. But if you really want customization, I suggest ParanoidAndroid.
Here is what i recommend. Fast, stable, and highly customizable ROM. Stable and fast kernel.

Hi, pochefuok...
Check out Paul O'Briens CM10.1 based ROM over at MoDaCo (http://www.modaco.com/forum/657-google-asus-nexus-7-nexus7modacocom).
...based on the 'nightlies', he releases a new version every Friday.
I'm currently on r5... and it's slick, smooth and 'theme-able'... ie, just about every aspect can be customised. (Check out PlayStore for CM10.1 themes).
... and it's very stable.
Rgrds,
Ged.
i switched from PA to the PUB AOKP. PA just bogs down on multitasking after a while, Im not sure if it has something to do with their per app setting. PA is very unique though, their per app color is unmatched in my opinion, pie is also a nice touch but for me it is not very convenient. You should try out PA if only for the experience of it. AOKP has plenty of customization options and is quite good as well, I use it and I think it is faster and more stable
I don't mean to hijack, but I didn't want to make my own thread.
I'm looking for a ROM that has these features and is the most stable.
- removing the soft buttons so I can take advantage of the full screen when reading manga
- excellent video playback for anime
- overall very stable and has everything that jb 4.2.1 has
- same or better gameplay for 3d games then 4.2.1
I know a lot of these Roms have what I need, but I have a 200mb cap and can't risk wasting it. Also if anyone could point me to a beginners guide for flashing Roms it would be appreciated. Once again I'm sorry if this is a hijack and will delete upon OPs request.
Dirty Rootbox rom is best one out.

Wow! FLASHnox...
You aren't asking much are you!.
Flash a CM 10.1 based ROM and enable 'Expanded Desktop' in the POWERDOWN menu... upon selection, this will remove both the notification and navigation bars.
Get MX Player from PlayStore... this allows 'pinch-zoom' and will completely fill up the screen.
*** *** ***
Quick Beginners Guide to Flashing a ROM...
Get FASTBOOT via the Android SDK.
Get a Custom Recovery... either CWM or TWRP..
--- fastboot flash it...
Get the ROM of your choice.... and flash it using the Recovery you've just fastboot flashed.
Reboot... enjoy.

Thanks for the reply! Well anyway after my post I decided to just wing it and started with the android 4.0 tool to get started. Got my adb serial to appear after driver install, but could never get the fastboot to show up T_T. Spent a few hours rebooting and reinstalling drivers and could not for the life of me get fast boot mode to show my serial. Any idea what to do? And yes I did the whole hold power to get into the boot loader locked area thing. Sadly I have hit my data cap and will have to get the necessary files while at school to tomorrow. Hopefully someone can point into the right direction so I know what files to download in time.
Also I decided on dirty root box or whatever it was called, as for your comment on MX player I read somewhere that certain Roms have better play back but I'll just go ahead and guess it doesn't matter
hey guys,
i've read all your opinions so i downloaded 3 different roms, the dirty rootbox, the dirty aokp and the PA... so i try all of these 3 roms and then i will choose... i've only 1 other question: in the download page of the paranoidandroid there are several roms and i downloaded this: pa_grouper-2.99-31JAN2013-230539... is this the latest version?? thanks everyone!
Whats the most customizable rom for the i9505?
Any advice is appreciated
