I created an app, and want to add a function like below.
when an android device with my app installed received a push notification sent from my server, I want notification led to flash until the user checks the notification.
"check" means he/she clicks the notification and enter my app or he/she clear the notification message.
I googled a lot and found nothing.

Is it possible to change the notifications so that the trackball keeps flashing when there's a new email / missed call / voicemail etc? At the moment it seems to flash when new email arrives and that's it, so if you miss the flash you can't tell there are any notifications unless you check.
actually just found out that when you have notifications the indicator flashes green, otherwise it doesn't flash at all. Unlike other HTC devices (where they nomally flashed green and then flashed orange to indicate notifications), but I guess it'll do
It does say in the user guide that the LED will flash green when there are notifications, but who ever reads that.
It would be nice to be able to select if the trackball should light up, in which interval and for what notifications. The green led will blink on any notification, not just email and missed call.
I came across an app called SMS Popup. It can change the color of the LED for SMS and MMS notifications in addition to the other great options of popping the message up on the screen and giving you reminders of unread messages.
Hi all,
Haven't found anything with the search, so I'm opening a new thread for this.
Everytime you receive an e-mail or a text message, etc. you will receive a notification in the top bar.
If I select the message and mark it as read, the notification will still be there. I will have to clear it manually. Can this somehow be changed so I don't have to clear it myself?
Thanks for your help.

Hi - Not sure about this one.. When I get a new email notification I usually click on the notification to take me to my emails... and that clears it from the list.. I will try going into email separately and see what happens.
Hi im_iceman,
I do the same. I click on the notification which brings me to the email or text message or whatever else. But the notification stays in the notification bar. it's only visible if you go into the notification bar though, but it will stay there forever unless you clear it.
It's not a major issue, but would be nice to have it automatically removed once you select the item from the notification bar.

I'm using ChompSMS on my Sprint EVO and love it, but after I answer my text message, the notification stays in the task bar until I pull down the task/notification bar and "clear it". I'm running froyo and when in my standard factory messages app, press "menu" but there's no "settings." When using my standard factory message app, after I view and/or answer a message, the notification in the task bar goes away. But with ChompSMS, it doesn't, thus requiring me to remove it manually (I'm also running call notification so it beeps at me every two minutes until I clear it manually). Any way to stop messages from appearing in the notification bar? Or is that mandatory for my "call notification" to work? Any way to make chompsms clear the notification after viewing and/or answering the text?
Go to the stock message app and uncheck received notification. Use chomp settings for your notifications.
I'm developing an application which uses notifications and I'm having some problems, so I hope somebody can help. Here they are :
1. Insistent notifications. When I turn them on, the notification keeps coming up without any pause untill I pull the notification bar down. Can I change it so it would only notify once a minute ?
2. Only one notification. Each time a notification comes up, the previous one is updated by the new one. I want my application to show each notification separately. I tried to pass a unique id to NotificationManager's notify method, but I still only get one notification.
// #2 is solved. Assigned a random id and it works.
Is there a way to hide message previews when screen is unlocked? For instance, say you're browsing the web and you receive a message... When you pull down on notification bar, you can read who sent it and what was said, as opposed to "new message" then having to click that to get into your messaging app . I know it sounds kinda redundant, but I got used to it that way on my old s8 and can't figure out how to turn off "preview messages". Maybe port the Samsung messages app over to this phone? Thanks.
You can try to turn off heads up notifications system wide using one of the numerous guides available on the net. Didn't try as I don't want to disable them.
i used method #1 located here..

Hmm. I still want to get the notification and I can disable the pop-up anyway. I'm looking to disable the actual "peek" method. For instance when my Gmail syncs and gives me a notification on my status bar, when I pull down it'll show me who the emails are from, instead of just saying "3 new emails", which is what I'd prefer.
