What brand and size sdcard do you have and how is it formated? Running stock or custom rom, which recovery?
My sd card brand is sandisk. Whenever my phone is turned off because of low battery, my phone will format my sd card when i turn it on. This has happened many times. Although i've changed my memory to the new one (sandisk too)

Maybe your card is damaged, take it out and plug it in the PC with an adapter and see what message you get. You may format it on the PC in FAT32 format.

What format do you have now? Format it as FAT32 and that should probably solve your issue. FAT32 is also faster in reading and writing speed. I use Easeus Partition Master for formating sdcards.

Yesterday my sdcard decided to stop working I just get the sdcard damaged notification, I am running modaco 3.0 and have it partitioned. I have tried putting the card in my pc but it won't detect it.
Anyone any ideas on how to fix this?
repartition your card in recovery menu.
I have a similar problem.
I want to format my card in the phone. I click unmount and then format. nothing happens.
I've repartitioned the whole card as 2gb Fat32 and still my phone wont format the card. I can read/write from the card no problem, but it won't format when it's in my phone.
any ideas?

if your card works now, why do you want to format it?
I installed the NAND android. I followed the instructions, installed HSPL, then the new Radio, then the MAGLDR, then I flashed Android.
But when it starts, the phone didn't recognize the SD card. I removed the sd card and put it again, but it didin't work. When I tried to take a picture or go to the music app, the phone pop ups a message telling me to insert an sd card. I can't broswe the sd card on the phone even in the computer when I connect usb.
I need some help to know what to do. It was my first flash and i'm very inexperient.
The sd is the 16gb that comes with the original phone from t-mobile. The phone is unlocked.
Format the card with panasonic formatter and try again. :3
It'll prolly work after.

I format the SD card and the problem was solved. It is good to remember for new users to format you sd card before install a completely different OS in your phone.
As said, Android can't see my SD. I have CleanDroid installed on NAND.
When I insert the SD in the phone, appears an icon on the top that says "Now it's possible to remove the SD safely". If i remove the SD it says that it's removed, and when i reinsert it, again "Now it's possible to remove the SD safely". Obviously i can't install apps in the sd through "APP2SD", can't use Waze cuz it says that doesn't find the SD card in the phone, the same appears with the camera that tells that if i want use camera i need to insert an SD. BUT THE SD IS STILL THERE!!! what do I wrong with it?
I tried to change my 8GB SD with a friend's 2GB SD... but still the same. I tried to go in Settings, Memory, "Install SD" too, but it only tells again that i can remove the sd safely...WHAT THE HELL I WROOOOOOONG?!?!?!?! xD
EDIT: I forgot, i tried to change the ROM too, tried about 5-6 different ROMs but it still doesn't work...
Did you try formatting with Panasonic formatter?
You're just inserting the SD card right? You're not pressing amount SD card in settings right?
Its look your cards r not compatible with HD2 card reader. I had same issue with about 3 or 4 cards.
The best way is to use genuine SanDisk cards !

but...it's impossible! simply cuz with wm6.5 and wp7 it works perfectly! And on the PC too! In fact yesterday i came back to wm6.5 and the SD works well...
Just format it. ._.

hi guys, there is an update: today i woke up and tried again to insert an sd card. If it's formatted in NTFS or in exFat it says "The SD is damaged. Do u want to try to format?". So i answer yes, it formats the card and then says again the same thing "The SD is damaged. Do u....". From there whatever SD i will insert wont work cuz it will say the same thing. If i try to insert a 2GB Sandisk SD it wont work, the same for my 8GB Kingston and everything else. If i flash again the ROM (the same or another) it tells only that I can safely remove the SD card...BUT I DON'T WANT TO REMOVE IT! I WANT TO USE IT!!! xD so i think my problem is something like a "loop". The telephone remembers his last one choiche and whatever I will do it will give me the same response for every SD. If I format it will be the same...
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT I'M THE ONLY ONE PERSON WITH THIS FU*** PROBLEM???
I sometimes have this problem - it sometimes does what you describe or says that the card is Damaged.
The only way i've found to fix this issue is to format the Card on a Linux machine - i have a laptop that i can dual boot with Ubuntu - i remove the partitions on the card and format it fresh to NTFS using the Disk Tools in Ubuntu and it works a charm every time....
Hope this helps - it is a bit of an annoying issue!

THANKS PAUL!!!!! I have BackTrack on my laptop cuz i need it at the university, but it's based on Ubuntu so i'll try to format my sd from there and try to format the sd from there! I'll let u know if I solved the problem! MANY THANKS!!!!!

Good Luck mate - i know how annoying this issue is!
I can't for the life of me get my Evo running CM7 to read my 16gb card. I formatted it in FAT32 and also partitioned it. I even copied all contents from my 4gb over to the 16gb and it's not even seeing it. What am I doing wrong??
Is your card being read when it is completely wiped (free of any content) ?
You can try formatting it in your phone. Are you sure the card is real?

When this happened to me I put my micro SD in a card reader formatted with windows to fat32 and then formatted again with phone and everything works well. Also Check your PM
My evo will -not- read cards formated on my computer. LOL, so i just format inside the phone and partition it with the recovery system.

That mostly happens if your Computer formats it in NTFS

I was actually making a reply here and accidentally turned my computer off and totally forgot it.
Yes the card is real. I use it with a adapter and card reader on my computer. I have formatted it on my PC with FAT32 and also partitioned it since I had to.
It's not being read when fully wiped either.

Mine did this, and it was a dead card. I was able to put it in a card reader and get most of my data off. Most are lifetime warranty. Had to send mine in for a free replacement (Transcend 16GB card).

on a side note you can also go into cm recovery and make sure data, sd card and there is another option ate mounted.. somehow mine were unmounted when i was flashing roms and the sd card was stuck on read only
From two days I have problem witk my SD Cards it shows ``Sd card is blank or has unsupported filesystem'' I tried different SD card but it got destroyed too. When I'm connecting SD directly too computer it works but when I try by Smartphone it's invisible. It's the same in different phones with this SD cards

It is very possible it was due to an unsupported file system
