I searched the Q&A but did'nt find anything for this, if I have missed it please could someone point me to the info?
I have a GS4 I9505. I have flashed most of the AOSP ROMS off this site and all have the same issue on my S4, when I try to call someone or someone calls me the dialler freezes and then the whole S4 freezes and I have to remove battery and replace for it reboot. Try the dialler again and same thing happens. Does'nt matter whether its CM 10.2 or PA, all of the ones I have tried result in the same ending on the dialer.
The stock ROMS do not have this problem what so ever.
Any help with this would help as I'd love to use one of the AOSP.
So no one knows or has an answer as to why this is happening?

I've been having kind of a similar problem to yours with my Note 2, any AOSP roms I install they freeze after a while, not in the dialer tho, but in any function of the phone or even when I'm not using it. If I install a Touchwiz rom it does not freeze at all.. Even with the MIUI rom freezes.. Could be the recovery i'm using? IDK, I hope someone helps us both.

I have MIUI right from the official english website and the newest version.
When I try to use the Camera it just freezes completely and then reboots the phone.
Try posting that on the miui site u will get more help there

Also whats the point of the thread? A statement about how your phone freezes isn't of much use to anyone

Hi friends, I recently installed the new Vine app for android. I know it still has some bugs but my problem is this:
When I open the app I can use everything fine, but when I try to record a new video the app crashes and immediately reboots the S4.
My S4 is an international I9500 and I have the Russian unbranded AMDK firmware.

anyone? you just have to install it from Play Store and test it out guys. I just want to confirm it's not a problem with my device. Thank you!
Here is a link to the Vine APP https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.vine.android
Vine records video with no problems on my i9500 (WanamLite ME1 V1.2 / Adamkernel 1.3.2)
Anyone has tried yet with a stock ROM?

I have. Update 1.0.2 didn't fix the problem... waiting for 1.0.3.
It's not recording for me either. I have a GSII (sprint) running SuperNexus 4.2.2. I installed it on my friend's S3 and had no problems with it.

What are your symptoms?
--------------------------------------------------
So must be a ROM or Kernel problem. It should not be a hardware related problem as our friend with a custom ROM is not having problems at all.

It seems to be custom ROM problems and the people at Vine say there's a bug. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313136
They just don't say when there will be a fix.
As for now, I get the super long "initializing" then the screen seems fine, press to record and I get the crash and the message saying Vine app has closed.
Ok, so I guess we'll just have to wait for a fix from Vine. Hope they do it soon.

I get exactly the same problem on Galaxy S2 i9100p running SuperNexus. Doesn't that link from the Vine developer (if it's genuine) suggest it's an issue that needs fixing on the ROM side of things? As he says "it did not implement one of the camera method..that we are relying on to work properly. Just want to let you guys know what the problem is"
Hey guys,
Title pretty much says it, I have an S3 I9300 that is occasionally freezing for about 10~ minutes at a time. I looked at a few threads that mentioned that it might be bad memory blocks, but I don't think that's it since this only started happening since I flashed Omnirom (omni-4.4.2-20140518-i9300-NIGHTLY), I was previously using CM 10.2 and had no (freezing related) trouble with that. I can't reproduce the problem in any specific way, it seems to be random, usually after you try to make an action of some sort.
Is this a known issue? Would re-flashing it be likely to help? It's unlikely to be an app interfering, as this was happening before I even in stalled GApps
I was using the same omnirom in my S3 i didnt have any issues.. Before you flashed omni did you wipe data and cache?

Yup, formatted everything. It's really weird. I thought it went away after I installed super SU and updated the play services, but it's still there.
Maybe reflashing it would fix it.. What was the recovery you were using?

If reflashing doesnt work, turn off your S3 and remove your battery for about a minute. I know it's a ridiculous solution but i have seen similar problems in other forums and that worked for them. Tell me if it works.

I'm currently using CMW. I know that it's not 100% supported, so that might be the issue, but I am using the most current version of it and I know others have had success. I'm wondering if I don't have a dodgy mother board because I'm also currently facing a problem whereby sometimes when someone calls me, neither of us can hear anything and that was happening before I flashed the new rom as well (that was actually the reason that I flashed omnirom in the first place).
What I'm thinking is maybe I swap over to CM 11 and see what that does for me. What I'm seeing of omni so far, I like, but it doesn't have enough features for my tastes yet. I'll probably come back in the future either when it's matured a bit or when CM does sopmething silly with their commercialization
Cm11 doesnt have that much features though. Omnirom has some features that cm11 doesnt have. But if you like a little bit of more stability with simple features, then cm11 is a way to go

Hi guys,
I have installed the pac ROM with this kernel: 3.4.92--KT-SGS4-KK4.4-AOSP-INTL-06.09.2014--KTOONSEZ #1. I have a GT-I9505 s4 and I have found that the gyroscope is not working, The phone won't flip screen to landscape, and I can't play any car games that need you to tilt the screen for steering.
I have spoken to the PAC man, and he told me it's not the ROM that's the problem, but the kernel. My question is, how can I fix this issue? Load a different kernel? if so, can I do that without wiping everything off my phone? I have rooted a few phones before so not completely newbie, but not that familiar with it all either.
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this!
Thanks in advance,
John
Try making a backup just in case and try to get another kernel I had problems with kernels before too and I dident have to wipe stuff

It was indeed the kernel.
Thanks
