Merruk big lags,phone almost unusable - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

hi guys, here i am again with troubles i installed merruk kernel and hyperion 8 rom and after like a week or so my phone started to lag hard if i open a toms hardware page in opera (because my pc is toast at the moment so no odin available) until the page loads the whole phone is almost frozen even the statusbar lags,if i try watching a video in mx player it plays the video a few seconds without sound then freezes and plays the song for that part of the video that has been played then lags then no sound then again, with the stock kernel i had no problems browsing before the page not fully loaded or watching videos, and in youtube sometimes i hear the sound like that exact half a second is being played really fast 5 times, you know what i mean, should i go back to stock? i had xxkk6 kernel and can somebody send me a stock xxkk6 kernel file that i can flash in cwm? Please guys im kinda desperate here what kernel should i try? I have to do something

Merruk is unstable so I recommend you to flash hells fusion #50.

Am i gonna have any trouble with hells fusion over merruk?i installed merruk after savie that came with my rom, then i just reflashed my rom without the boot.img,i disabled some thing i messed with in developer options something about forcing gpu rendering on 2d stuff, and now my phone acts normally but i still dont know how to use the cpu governors and that crap makes my phone lag more than fully stock so can you suggest some settings?,and in hells fusion am i gonna feel the absence of 1.2ghz? i think i asked to many questions in this reply but im a noob and i was plesantly surprized that i followed a guide and i didnt brick my phone at all while flashing

Just flash hells fusion #50, its stable. Set smartassv2 as your governor and you're done!

Currently there is no stable OC for this device.Hells fusion is not an overclocked kernel.

Guuuys i bricked my phone after i tried to flash stock kernel with hells fusion #50 ,you know what i mean, and now any recovery stock or cwm cant mount or acces anything except the sd card so cant reflash anything, im desperate here, and i tried odin and everytime i try flashing stock with odin it stops at boot.img and does nothing, what can i do????:banghead:

Wipe data and cache if u can reach recovery mode and then try rebooting..

The thing is i couldnt mount anything so wiping anything would just give an error, but i used odin,it was stuck at something like bcmtp (i think) and then i disconected it and voila it worked

download gingerbread launcher from the market. its free
sounds lik you installed the wrong version of speedmod kernel there is one from the i9000 models and one for the captivate.. the touch button drivers are diffeent and the symptoms you describe would be what happen if you install wrong kernel.

Not really... My jelly blast is MOST awesome with repencis kernel. It was good with kuro, awesome with repencis. Repencis works without lag even in max 312ghz, min 156 ghz. Really good.

can i change kernel from merruk to repencis? how bout backup can it restore in repencis kernel?
Don't use merruk kernel 2.5, if you really want merruk kernel, use merruk 2.0 elite version. Even after bacem tweaks the over clocking doesn't really work. It just wouldn't stay up at 1.24 ghz. But the best kernel for Jb v3 is still repencis

I am very sorry to inform you that Repensis Kernel doesn't support overclocking. If you want an overclock kernel, try Merruk Technology Kernel V2.5. Else, flash Savie's Kernel and overclock it the way you did so. Merruk kernel v2.5 is already overclock to 1.2 GHz. You don't need to flash overclock zip again. But Savie kernel is not yet overclock. You need to flash the overclock zip file to overclock it to 900MHz. Only Stock kernel, merruk kernel and savie kernel supports overclocking till date of all the available kernels for Galaxy Y. Always keep in mind that overclocking drains the battery and heats up the phone which can cause damage to your handset. Just reflash Repensis Rom v3.5 via Clockwork Mode Recovery or via Stock Recovery. As to Link2sd, first partition you sdcard as primary in ext2 format. When link2sd ask you to choose the format, select ext4(very important) and then reboot you phone.
Hit thanks if I helped you.

Which kernel did u flash and how? plz tell me the detail. By the way Merruk kernel is very unstable. I recomment u not to use it.
Some roms do not function with kernels other than those included in the rom..
Also you must follow proper instructions to flash kernel
one thing more... After flashing merruks kernel you have yo flash ext4 convertor
it will convert your /data /system and /cache tp ext4 which is not supported by some kernels and rom dont boot

That was really rude bro.
I mean to say it`s for advanced users. Becoz to install it successfully without any errors is difficult for one who is new to such stuffs. But one can easily flash
other kernels like savie, kuro, hells fusion etc following simple steps.
By the way for ur kind information i have once successfully installed the Merruk Kernel but changed becoz it was power hungry

[Q] Changing Kernel from Franco to Trinity

Hi
I am new to this and recently installed franco kernel on 4.3 Jelly Bean. I was wondering how do I change to Trinity kernel from TWRP menu I have installed on Nexus 4. I understand that I need Zip and then from TWRP I can install, but can anyone you has done it advice me?

since you are coming from franco kernel, this is what you should do, via your recovery..
after you download what you need, reflash your rom(dont wipe a singe thing), the gapps(if needed), and then trinity kernel. then reboot. if you are coming from any other kernel, you dont need to reflash your rom, just flash the kernel in recovery then reboot
Thanks a lot
So in this case I should just install trinity kernel as I don't have any custom rom installed and no gapps. I hope I am right as all I did was just installed Franco kernel on stock phone and that's it!
Any cache erase etc etc before i flash new kernel?

no matter what anyone tells you, you NEVER have to wipe anything when flashing kernels, dont wipe dalvik, dont wipe cache.
well, its best to flash your rom again if coming from franco kernel, it changes your roms ramdisk. trinity grabs the available ramdisk. by reflashing your rom, trinity would grab your roms ramdisk instead of francos. but, most likely youll be fine just flashing trinity on top
Thanks again
When you say ROM, are you referring to stock ROM?
I guess I'm getting confused between which ROM you are asking me to reflash.

I'm exactly where you are, stock ROM (4.2.2) and Franco's. It's not that I'm not satisfied with it, just wanting to try alternatives. After being a "ROM whore" with my previous phones I unfortunately didn't have time to do anything with the N4 yet..

go to the roms main settings, developer options, force gpu rendering, disable the disable hw overlays if they are enabled. if you dont have a developer options in your main settings, press about phone, scroll down, press build number 7 times. when you get the you are a developer now message, go back to the main settings and go into developer options.
the reason this happens is because you are running stock, which is jwr(build version) and aosp is jss. they are slightly different(some different drivers). this difference cause this. most custom kernels are jss, aosp based. franco kernel is jwr, stock based. this difference does not happen often on a nexus. btw, jss is the newest version of android. the majority of custom roms are also jss.
OK this is what I have done
I have dine as you had told and checked the box that states "disable the he overlays"
This fixed my problem but I hope this doesn't have any other effect ..
How can I install the aosp built instead of jwr ?

na, thats how i normally run my phone. there are many aosp builds out there in both development sections, as i said most are aosp. im using rasbean, but there are other good aosp based roms as well
Thanks a lot all!..
this seems to work.
One last thing i like to inquire is that to install the raspberry, they recommend clean wipe and then install gapps and rom. Would this erase my current backup of franco based system image i created in TWRP?
And If I wipe clean, how can I install the raspberry rom ..its all wiped isnt it!!!
Thanks @xthaparian and @simms22, I had already decided to take this weekend to try some stuff on mine, but your tries made me more forward to do it. I must confess of all my past androids N4 is, for obvious reasons, the one which has more releases to try, and ofc a lot of tricks in the way..

rasbean jelly! :silly:
no, your nandroid backup stays, your data gets erased though. its like starting fresh. the storage wont get touched(dont wipe the system). as soon as you log in, go through the google setup, your play store apps should start reinstalling(if you enable it). most roms will jave this or something similar written in the op.
Ok Thanks again..

i hear people say these gapps for 4.3 are good, they were recently updated(8/8/13) http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/gapps/pa_gapps-full-4.3-20130808-signed.zip
also, you will need the latest supersu/superuser. heres the flashable supersu http://download.chainfire.eu/345/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.51.zip
I downloaded all as instructed ..
I am on raspberry
I'm on trinity kernel
Let's see the performance .
One thing I noticed is that this kernel jas all 4 cores running and max is capped at 1024hz.
Also the governor is set to ondemand.
Any thoughts on this. Any other tweaks I should do to make it much better. Franco kernel was using interactive governor.
Also the GPU is ocd to 485 and stock is 400 max.
Any comments to tweak the kernel better or Tue stock setting are good!
Thanks for help
