4.3 with samsung apps? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
sorry for stupid question, but.. is it possible to get 4.3 on i9505 and keep original camera app, keyboard, alarm and some other samsung apps?

I believe you must wait for the official ota/kies update of 4.3..
Even though i believe 4.3 will be skipped for 5.0 which is roumored to be released in October 2013

Android 4.3 for Non-Google Play Edition S4 Phones?

HI all,
I have an SGS4 which is the NON-Google Play Edition phone, does anyone know as to when the update to version 4.3 will be downloading to these phones automatically? Or does it depend on the carrier or region?
I know in fact that the S4 Google Play Edition will the update to version 4.3 quicker.
Thanks
Depends off each carrier

Is this only for the Google Play Edition S4 phones that will get the update to version 4.3?
I just have the regular default version of Android version 4.2.2 that came when I bought the phone.
I guess no, Samsung keep upgrades in his phones by 2 years so hopefully we obtain android v 5 in our phones, but the installation is carrier decision

Will I still get the update if I use my own WiFi network at home?
So just to confirm, that even if I do not have the Google Play Edition of the S4 will I still eventually get the Android 4.3 update?

Hmm ... is it possible to switch to Google Play Edition from Samsung Stock firmware or does this fail because my SGS4 is an I9505?

Guys,we have still Write Protection Enabled! We can't flash the PIT,Baseband,Bootloader so i think OTA Updates are still a dream for us... we have to wait for a Method to turn off this ugly write Protection in Bootloader
BR
So those of us who do not have the Google Play Edition of the S4, we will not get the Android 4.3 update at all?
Until Samsung releases the Touchwiz version for your phone, no, you won't. Eventually they'll release it when they manage to implement all the touchwiz features on 4.3

Ok, I understand now. Thanks for the help on this.
I don't think Samsung will release a 4.3 update anytime soon. Like mentioned they will only use their own touchwiz version. Plus their current version works just perfect, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Alternatively there is a few 4.3 ROMs currently on nightly. And even direct ports for the 4.3 i9505G update so you can run it on your standard i9505.
Don't sweat it. If you want it there are always ways to get it.
Peace.

Perfect? Noooo..I have some problems with it lags and I can read a lot of bugs reported, and the Touchwiz eat a LOT of memory, my nexus 4 with the same installation eat 600mb touchwiz 1.5 gb!

Look at the Galaxy Note 2 it will not get 4.3... but it will get 5.0 and i think Samsung goes the Same way on the Galaxy S4 and yes if anyone needs 4.3 there are a lot of 4.3 Builds out yet (Not Touchwix but good old CM+AOSP) but this is a bit Offtopic:silly:
We get 4.3 after the Note 3 is launched which will come with 4.3 out of the box, hopefully Samsung will do the same for the S4 as they did with the S3 & Note 2 and add some new features from the Note 3.
So the earliest we could see 4.3 on the S4 is around October/November time.

As I understand this is for Region: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
Well I let it a try and want to share my experience.
The update took 13 minutes from applying the update untill the full bootup. And drained 3% of a battery from 80% to 77%. All apps and icons on the home screen remained untouched.

As read in another thread now you have the Knox warranty flag/counter.
You can see that when you bring your phone in download/odin mode.
And as I understood now you can't flash back older firmware, or root and flash custom roms without loosing your warranty (warranty void).
Look at this thread!

Now we've got serious problems.

I didn't think s4 mini was getting 4.3 this year. (I got an s4m for my wife)
My S4 is locked up with Knox now, I had to make the decision, stock/stable/official or root - stock isn't so bad.

It`s offically annonced that S4 mini will get 4.3 till the end of November and this is sure as Samsung anonce that Gear will support S4 Mini which mean 4.3 for us in the end of November.
As for the Rom I love the stock one and don`t need root as there is wifi tethering so I don`t need to play hacker just to have network on my laptop when traveling.

Do you have a source by chance? I know about the 4.3 and Galaxy Gear compatibility but don't remember reading anything about timing.

I think this will cover it.
A spokesperson for Samsung UK told CNET that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean "will be available across a range of Galaxy devices from mid-November, subject to software testing and approvals by individual networks."
Installing now and see how it goes. The only thing I pray for is the basterds fixed the battery drain bug. I doubt it, but we will see...
Someone mentioned no rooting possible from this version on? Should there be a workaround this, because I am pessimistic they fixed the issue?
For now, everything is in place and the update was non-problematic. We will see how the battery usage goes...
where are you based cos I just can't get this update, my software version is BTU which I thought was uk un brand

[Q] I need you know, How do you can Down Android 4.3 to 4.1.2 I9500?

Help me!!! I need to Know, How do can i Downgrade from Android 4.3 to 4.1.2?
Why would you want to downgrade? The Galaxy S4 shipped with Android 4.2.2 so in terms of stock ROMs there's no way of getting 4.1.2 not sure about custom ones.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
I'm pretty sure you can't downgrade to official 4.1.2 cause of knox bootloader. Besides I don't think S4 ever had 4.1.2 anyway.

horse for courses really yes
i agree ,if you have no problems with your version your running now then dont update,i had no problems, but im in that group of people that need to update to the latest softwares
4.3 was good enough for me really, but i can not help myself
stay on 4.3 untill you read more about kitkat
That is good but what about battery drain
And sensor and motion works
The big problem if I update there is no way to back to 4.3

Thats why i actually updated to cm11. Which is still kitkat but also works on the old bootloader. Means you can always go back to stock 4.3. You will lose all available spen features tho and all Samsung stuff . If you're not scared of knoxing your device that is.

[Q] [SGH-I337M] Upgrading to 4.4 without bootloader upgrade

Hi all!
My mother has a I337M Galaxy S4 from Telus. Purchased on October, 24th, 2013. This phone was manufactured before the July Knox upgrade. Contains 0% Knox and 4.2.2.
My question: Is there a way to upgrade to 4.4 without upgrading the bootloader. I have a SM-N900W8 myself and used the leaked Tecel version which worked fine (4.4.2). Does a similar process exist for the S4? She would prefer stock if possible.
Thanks

If you are on a non knox 4.2 just root and flash recovery for your model "M" shouldn't be that hard.
**Google is your friend use it
