Stuck at Samsung boot screen. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I've tried to Odin back to stock, but that didn't do anything.. I can't even get into stock recovery. Did I brick my phone?

Did you originally use odin to go back to stock? what were you doing to get stuck?

I rooted then installed twrp to flash a stock mf9 rom. I deleted some apps that I wanted back so I wanted to just go back to stock. After trying everything I still can't get passed the Samsung boot screen

First of all what file are you using to return to stock? You should be downloading the stock mf9 tar file and flash it through odin with your phone in download mode. Make sure after you download the zip file you extract the tar file from it. Use odin 3.0 or higher and make sure you only have auto reboot checked and you load the tar under PDA. After odin loads the file then connect your phone with it already booted into download mode. Once odin shows your phone is connected hit start.

So I think I (soft bricked) my phone

I just bought a T-Mobile variant of the SGS3. I then successfully rooted it with the Toolkit from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682
Then, when I used to toolkit to remove the boot animations. This is when trouble starts. Now the phone flashes the Samsung Logo when I try and turn it on, but nothing else happens. I can get into download mode still.
What should I do next? I tried re flashing through Odin the insecure boot, but that hasn't work. I'm in the proscess of downloading the stock firmware tarball (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737855 ) but its PAINSTAKINGLY slow. Do you expect flashing back to stock via Odin to unbrick me?
I'm used to flashing roms and whatnot but I'm not a dev... this caught me totally off guard since I thought I was using the S3 toolkit properly (and yes, it is the correct toolkit. I rooted successfully).
I made a nandroid right off the bat, but I can't boot into recovery and I don't think I can access the files any other way.
Thanks for any help. I'm in a panic right now

Btw, I have the original build.prop backed up
Try this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762204
Should get you back to stock rooted. Grab file, put on desktop, extract here, fire Odin up, click pda an find the .tar file and hit start. Should get you back to stock rooted.
EDIT: OPPS! I just noticed this is for tmobile.. anyhow just grab a stock rooted .img/.tar file and run it in Odin. should get you back to stock rooted.

Thanks for the reply, but I already got it working! I got it back in to recovery after I flashed the insecure boot image via Odin again (the one that came with the S3 toolkit) and restored my nandroid.
And (to all) sorry for the newb post, I was in total panic mode, heart pounding, adrenalin rushing, it was intense haha. Its hard to think straight like that.

[Q] Unusual s4 brick help

Forgive my noobishness. I've actually lurked xda boards for years and used the EXCELLENT user made guides for all my phones. However, I'm at a complete loss and nothing I've searched, read, or tried has worked and it's consumed my entire day and left me with no phone at all. I cannot believe this phone can be dead unless there's some physical problem so I'm really hoping someone can walk me back to normal.
I bought a new S4 from T-Mobile on Labor Day (obviously I'm in the US). 2 days ago I rooted it successfully using Jimmy Mcgee's video and the various links including mattlgroff's and k0nane's threads. No problems whatsoever. After I did that I used Ti Backup and backed up the apps just in case, then I ran the moderate version of the Truly Clean script and did a factory reset. Everything was perfect. Then...
My wireless data stopped connecting. But that's not my current problem.
I decided to unroot and go back to factory to a) see if something I did was causing the data issue or b) take it back for an exchange at the store. I started with the K0nane and the Samersh72 guides, but frankly tried so many things and failed I don't know were I went wrong. First I tried M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_M919UVUAMDL_HOME.tar.md5
Then I tried Samsung-Updates.com-KERNEL-SGH-M919-TMB-M919UVUAMDL-1366964131.tar
Then I tried the one I did to root it OUDHS-Recovery-jfltetmo-1.0.3.3.tar
Mostly I have gotten a NAND writing fail in Odin with everything I tried (yes I tried making sure Kies is off, the original usb cable, and another PC) which then locks me out of the recovery boot screen and gives me some yellow triangle between a phone and a pc with an error about the stock firmware and tells me to connect to Kies. I can fix that by flashing this PIT file CSB_signed_Fusion3_EUR_0325_V2.pit which allows me to go back to the OUDhs recovery screen.
Also Kies will no longer connect to this device and it says driver install failure when I connect it to the PC (except it stell charges, using the stock cable still).
Dear god someone help me, and I will buy you a beverage. I'm doing instant email notifications of replies. PLEASE.
I'm not sunk yet. I'm rereading the FAQs and guides and I'm going to start over to where I was able to get the rooted version to work. I know the CWM recovery is working so we'll see.
Pull out battery for a while, then go to download mode (vol down+home+power) and flash stock fw in odin.

Ok I will try that. Also I am now trying to flash Samsung-Updates.com-SGH-M919-TMB-M919UVUAMDL-1366964131\M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_M919UVUAMDL_HOME.tar.md5
I am getting a little farther in the Odin process but it still says fail right after
aboot.mbn
Also I originally followed Jonny's video and only flashed the cwm custom recovery though odin. I flashed the rooted zip file from my phone's internal sd card like in the video. Now I can't get to the internal memory so I tried saving the zip file (the one I used to root it) on the ext sd card. I'm unable to flash that rooted zip from the ext sd card because the phone wants to reboot as soon as it starts doing so.
Is there a way to flash that rooted zip file (or a stock one) from an external sd card?

All you have to do is get into download mode and flash stock mdl tar with odin. After it's finished, it'll go into recovery by itself and wipe some small cache partition by itself, after it does that, hold onto the volume up button and get into recovery again and do a factory reset. This is so you don't go into a bootloop. Now get CF auto root and flash it so ur rooted. Next flash a custom recovery and ur all set. It's really easy to do.

Yes. Also when it fails, it locks me out of the recovery mode. Can you tell me what happens when you flash a new PIT file? Doing that alone does not get a FAIL message and it brings back the recovery screen. However, when I select the pit file it automatically selects the re-partition option which the k0nane says is a no-no (at least for flashing the pda, not sure about the pit which is why I'm asking).

Pit file basically means repartitining the storage chip of your device. Yes odin will automatically check repartition when flashing pit files. Flashing pit file is serious business. I recommend following the unbrick/ unroot thtead in the general section. Its pretty precise and I think since you are getting repeated fails in odin you will have to flash pit file.
You will be fine if you follow the instructions there precisely.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
OMG it worked. K0nane's procedure worked on a different pc. Dowloaded a fresh Kies but didn't install any of the extra stuff with it. Downloaded, extracted, and ran odin as admin. Hooked it up. Downloaded and extracted the UVUAMDL tar. Put that in the pda box and hit start. Mine would immediately FAIL but this one kept working, and working, and working and reboote. Why why why? I've been at this for about 16 hours. That makes no sense. Thanks anyway. I'll try the other root method when I'm feeling brave again.

[Q] Can't go into recovery. May have softbricked.

Hi there. I think I soft-bricked my phone. I am running mf3 firmware on my i337 galaxy s4 and i tried to flash Graviton. I was using safestrap and I, like an idiot, didn't use a romslot and did it over my stock. Seemed to work fine until I actually booted the phone. It can't access wifi and therefore wont go past the find wifi screen. I try to enter recovery but it just keeps going to the download screen. After trying every way I could find I still cant either wipe my phone or flash the stock firmware. I have tried kies and odin but nothing works. Can anyone help me out or am I royally screwed?

as long as the phone can go into download mode, you can use odin to reflash the stock firmware (and factory recovery). Check samsungupdates for your model/region and stock/official firmware. You'd have to re-root after. I did the same thing a while back, lost my recovery and this is the method I used to bring my phone back to life, was just sitting at the samsung logo and had no recovery (but had download mode).

Does Odin recognize the phone? Also, when you say it won't go past the "find wifi" screen, does that mean it booted to the "Welcome" screen?

Sorry should have edited the first post. I actually fixed my original problem and am now having a different one. I got all the way through nd did a restore of my stock rom. I then tried to flash the graviton one to a different rom-slot in safestrap. So now there is a completely different partition in the storage and the flash didnt work so I'm now completely stuck in download mode. I have tried to flash the tar files in odin and it fails every time. I should have all of the necessary files for mf3.

If you have the 16GB Galaxy, try flashing this file in the PIT slot in Odin.. Don't put any other files in the PDA slot, etc. It's worked many times when phone would only boot to download..

Hey Nerdyblonde, what does this pit file do?
I softbricked my phone when trying to flip from CWM to TWRP. (Thought I could just wipe phone and odin flash on top of CWM... VERY WRONG). Now I can't get into recovery and my phone is telling me to use kies recovery *shudder*. So I tried kies when I couldn't Odin flash to stock rom and still nothing.

Sorry it took a few days to answer.. The Kies screen was the same thing that happened to me... I have the MF3 version, so I can't install custom recovery, but I couldn't boot into recovery period. I flashed that pit file in the pit box on Odin, it restored my recovery.
Do you have MDL or MF3? If you have MDL, I would be really careful not to flash MF3 unless you want to stick with basically stock until one of the geniuses here figures out how to unlock the bootloader.

My phone is stuck in downloading mode after installing TWRP

Hi everyone,
Sorry to bother you with this. I recently purchased a Samsung Note 4 (less than a month ago). I successfully rooted it and it worked fine. But today I was incredibly stupid and I tried to install TWRP on my phone. I followed the instructions on this site (which I can't link because I am a new user) and tried to install TWRP using flashify. However, something went wrong and now when I reboot my phone it goes into downloading mode with a green android and text that says "Downloading.. Do not turn off target".
Now every time I reboot it goes into this. I googled this and I tried
1. to click cancel on the download
Does not work, goes to green android screen anyways
2. to go into recovery mode
Does not work, goes to green android screen anyways
I cannot perform a factory reset because I cannot go into recovery mode. I don't know what to do. Is there any software from the PC that would allow me to reset my phone? Of course it would be ideal if I can get it working without resetting it but at this time I just want the phone to work...
If I take my phone to someone, will they be able to fix it? Please help.
Download Odin and the TWRP .tar file.
In Odin, click the AP button and select the TWRP .tar file. Then just flash it that way and it should work just fine.
If that doesn't work, download a full stock ROM from either Sammobile or one of the mirrors here and flash it the same way using Odin. The stock ROM is probably a .tar.md5 file. Don't extract it further and just select this file in Odin.
You might have to install the Samsung USB drivers for Odin to work.

Thank you. If I knew I could have just flashed TWRP in with Odin earlier, I would not have gone through all the trouble. Unfortunately, the method I chose made my phone stuck in downloading mode.
I downloaded the stock ROM and used Odin to install it. I was able to get out of download mode that way but then my phone got stuck in an endless reboot loop. But at that point I was able to access recovery mode again so I just gave my phone a factory reset. It works again now. (Hooray!!)
If I every do try to flash TWRP in again, do you know which version I should use?
Just use the newest one on the official TWRP website.

Did you ever do a back up if your system in twrp that you can restore in twrp? If not, do you know what your stock operating system is? When you flag in Odin the phone needs to be in download mode and you should have 4 files that you place in the different sections that are shown in Odin (the BL file goes in the BL section, AP goes in AP section, and etc.) In Odin you flash .tar files, not .bin files. Google the correct build for your phone and model and download the 4 files. For twrp, you need a flashable .zip that will work for your model or a version that you would put in a twrp backup file and restore from twrp.
Just Download You'r Firmware from the link and flash it with odin.
Dont use any .pit file
