[Q] Seeking XT907 Unlocking / Custom ROM Advice and information - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone!
First off I would like to state I am new to customizing my ROM and unlocking the boot loader but I am very tech savvy and very aware of the risks involved so don't be afraid to give advice / information!
I have root access and I am now interested in acquiring a custom ROM. To my understanding my boot loader needs to be unlocked? I'm really just looking to remove all bloatware and improve my devices performance (Battery performance first and foremost). I have minimal knowledge about Recovery (Safestrap?), unlocking my boot loader and installing a Custom ROM.
I am looking for information / advice / tutorials.
ANY HELP WOULD BE AMAZING AND WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!

Unlock apk is among the other downloads here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327340
Then go into bootloader to verify the unlock or just look for new unsightly bootlogo.
On my "homepage" , above, are 2 links one about rom manager-there in the middle are steps to take the ota.
The other is about my custom restore/upgrade.
Then there is the rom manager apk will flash custom recovery for you.

If you just want to remove bloat and you are happy with the android version that you have the just install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.systemappmover (requires root) it let's you move apps to and from system apps. Just move the bloat you want to remove from system apps and uninstall it. Also useful for other apps, especially third-party apps that have difficulty interacting with GPS toggles

CF-Autoroot works on N5120, so i guess it should work fine on N5100 also.
And if you are already on a rooted 4.1.2, just install Mobile Odin and flash new firmware with Everroot checked

Thanks. And i have another question, why is Mobile odin sure for root 4.2.2 N5100?
Anyone who already flashed it? does it fix the screen freeze issue?? and another question, If i flash it manually via odin, will it retain my installed apps?
Someone writes that what's inside CSC codes, please.
I know it's DBT (default), but there's more?
THX!
Flashed with mobile odin pro with everroot - failed, Got into bootloop on cwm with message "Failed to root". Finally , Restored backup . Back with 4.12.

I would like to ask the same thing, especially the screen freeze issue.
Flashed new ROM.
Am I only one who faces this issues?:
1. S Note became laggy when opening/closing note
2. S-pen pointer is shifted 1-2 mm down from true position (maybe if there is any calibration software?)
I can't download from hotfile, please mirror it

Just did something foolish, but after taking few precautions, did it anyways. I flashed system and kernel from this to n5110 with mobile Odin pro. Did not dare flashing cache (csc) and rest as mobile Odin needs stock recovery to flash cache and really wanted to keep custom for obvious reasons.
It booted and working fine except for chaton and messaging app crashing, which I disabled at root.
Plus side is that in conjunction with Google voice app and magic jack I can use phone dialler to make phonecalls now. On WiFi only off course.
***"""Still testing so strongly urge people not to try this unless they know what they're doing. "" "***
This will not work with n5120 system and kernel combination firmware. It does not boot. Although system by itself can be flashed successfully over earlier n5110 leak, but 5ghz WiFi bug from that leak remains.
If you don't clean your internal card properly before hand, the old files remain trapped and you only have access to new directory tree, so either move files to external beforehand or do a reset to free used space (did not reset myself and will try not to).

I see this mentioned once in a while but have never seen a screen freeze on any version firmware of my note 8.0.
Perhaps its a cpu thing. I usually install setcpu first thing on any rom after rooting.

Perhaps it's a cpu thing but it's Samsung s job to fix it. I think it's an unexpected bug for a Note

You need to go to the att gs4 forum not the international forum they won't know what your talking about. As for modding yes your SOL you can still root using the vroot method but as for installing custom Roms there is no possible way to do it since safestrap mf3. 2 updates ago

[Q] ROM's for Locked 4.1.2 - 98.30.1

Lost the unlocked/rooted X907, had to replace it with a retail version as I was traveling and needed something immediately and wanted to stick with the X907 - as opposed to getting an older one on ebay which I'm probably going to do now anyway just to have a backup. It's the 4.1.2 - 98.30.1 - as I understand it I'm stuck with it locked. I've rooted it with the SafeRoot script.
I've searched a bit and found a few leads, but was wondering if there were any others in a similar situation that make a recommendation for any 4.1.2 ROM's, and/or provide more links on the subject. It seems to me that there would be many who might have the similar misfortune for whatever circumstance. cheers -

My fav is LS 2.37, it works on slot 1 just fine. I have a collection of old 4.1 custom ROMs that will work if you want, but LS 2.37 is the best and still findable without much difficulty

Cheers - I will give that one a shot.
SS compatible ROMs:
-Early builds of CM10 (way early, like at the beginning of thread early)
-DeadCalm was SS enabled, not sure if it was modified for an unlocked bootloader only
-Energy is SS enabled and never altered for unlocked bootloader
-Flying Jelly was SS enabled and I don't think it was modified to work only on an unlock bootloader
-Eclipse v1.2 was SS enabled, I don't think it was modified for unlocked bootloader

Hmm. Couldn't get LS 2.3.7 to boot, installed on rom slots 1-3, SS 3.1.1 with wipes and resets. Blank screen. I'll give these others a shot then try and diagnose what's up.

[Q] Getting status 7'd when I try to flash 4.4.3

I'm with Bell Canada on Danvdh's Google play edition rom and never had an issue with any of his 4.4.2 builds but when I went to flash his newest 4.4.3 rom this morning I got hit with status 7. Just for a little additional information I'm using the newest version of cwm for my recovery and I've tweaked my build.prop to get soft buttons ... Any help/insights/advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Did you change anything else in build.prop like the model number of your device?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I would pull the build.prop in original form from the 4.4.2 version of the rom and replace the one you tweaked with it (if you don't have an original copy you may need to download the entire rom or ask someone in his thread for a copy. Once you have an unchanged version you should be good to go. It is all going to be wiped out once you install the 4.4.3 version unless you are trying to dirty flash..... not sure that is a good idea when jumping versions... people have done it within the same version when the developer makes changes but it isn't foolproof either....

Nope only added a line at the bottom to enable soft keys... There were some issues with the rom and he's going to re-upload it tonight so I'll wait on that and see if the problem is fixed. Thanks for all the help guys!

how to root with 4.1.2

i hate posting questions like this but i searched and cannot answer this on my own. probably due to the newer updates that have taken over the spotlight
i have a xt907 i got from my dad to use temporarily and cannot figure out how to root it. it has the 98.18.94.xt907.verizon.en.us under system version
if anyone could point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it
There are a few ways I've read about. The following link was reported to work on the last 4.1.2 update.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602592
You could update to the current 4.4.2 software, unlock the bootloader, and then return to 4.1.2 and use SuperSU with a custom recovery like TWRP, which is mostly covered in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786016
I thought I read that towelroot may work on prior Android versions, but I have not read about people using it on 4.1.2 here.
I used towelroot on 4.1.2... But I recommend you to update to kk unlock your boot loader then if you want downgrade back to jb
