Navigation on my S4 for has been great, only thing I dislike is when I leave the app, I have to start directions over again once I enter back into the app, even though in my Notification bar I still see it as active and it still tells me where to turn lol. Anyone know how to combat this? It's really annoying and I travel so I use the navi a lot....
Just pull down the top bar and click on the nav.

That's what I thought too, it doesn't work. It's not "Clickable"

How do you disable the nav bar, it's annoying while playing a game or typing. hitting the spacebar and fat fingering the home, exiting the game/app...
I tried an app found in the galaxy nexus thread, it didn't work. Button Savior does work as an optional side hiding nav bar replacement.
thanks,

Came from here, but hadn't found this one, thanks I'll take a look.
EDIT: can't get LMT to open pie or recognize swipedupdouble set to open LMT.. (I feel dumb lol)
Personally, I just use the actual PIE buttons...and none of the swipe options.
Keep in mind, this mod will NOT work for anyone but those using AOKP.
I can make you a version for your rom, however if you'd like.
Just link me to it.
When I'm streaming movies from Amazon, the soft buttons on the bottom of the screen constantly stay lit. Does everyone else's do this? Is there a way to turn the lights off?
I guess the Amazon app for videos does not have the necessary code to do that... it's a problem with the app....

I'm not using an app. I'm using Boat Browser to go to the site. I even went back to stock and relocked to see if that may be affecting it. No change. And I notice they never go off even if I'm doing nothing but looking at the homescreen. Do yours go off?
Well, the Nexus 10 Guidebook answered one question. They are supposed to go off like I thought.
After a short time without getting used, these buttons may shrink to dots or fade away, depending on the current app. To bring them back, double-tap in their approximate location.

Might want to parse that guidebook a bit more:

So do yours go off?
And like I said before, they don't go off even when not using an app and sitting at the homescreen.
Can't anyone answer a simple question? Do your navigation button lights stay on or go off?
Someone told me their lights stayed on except when using Netflix. I signed up for a Netflix trial just to test it. They go off when viewing a Netflix movie. I guess mine is normal, just not normal to what I'm used to.

Homescreen - they stay on as long as the screen is on.
They don't "go off" ever since they're part of the UI. The only time they change is when they fade to small dots instead of icons, whenever certain apps are trying to go full-screen, although it's pseudo-fullscreen since the dots remain to show you where the home button is should you require it.

Thanks, I guess I'm used to ICS 4.0.4 on my phone. The light on the navigation buttons will go off after a few seconds of not touching the screen.

You realise that they're not backlit 'buttons' don't you? They don't have their own separate backlight...

No, I've never really thought about it. It could be magic for all I know. I just know they will go off on my phone while the rest of the screen stays on.
The buttons are on the screen. They are not like the ones on your phone.
Hey guys, have a rooted nexus 7 (hey, I'm in the right forum), running 4.2.1, and not sure when but when I went to use navigation, I have the following.
Map loads, traffic loads, and the plotted route(s) appear. Once I start driving, it does the text to speech but the whole route is more of a top down view as opposed to the old GPS style. So coming to turns depending on driving direction, I need to think, is that a right or left, since if I am driving south, things are reversed!
Anyway, I have tried starting the route in wifi area, then off wifi (which used to work) as well as bringing my 4G hot spot so I have constant internet, but the same results.
Is this a new setting I can't find, or just me missing something!
Tnx
There should be a blue google style nav arrow that pops up when you select something in the map and it goes to top view.touching that reverts back to 2d nav.If it isnt showing go to settings, apps and stop the google maps that are running and re open.

nah, it's not that. I can move the map which makes that arrow appear, but when I hit it, it's 'supposed' to fly in to the 3D version of driving, but it simply goes back to the top down view. I should have included a screenshot but did this time. If you notice as I tried to describe, that's the screen that stays there, the arrow will start to move in the correct direction, I will get the audio, turn right in 1 mile onto sreetname, etc. but that image is all I can get.
I have rebooted, stopped, etc. but regardless I get the same results. I have co-pilot, and NAVfree which work, but google is just so much nicer. Just glad I had the image this time!
Thanks
Ya that looks like the native google maps view.....Im at a loss.
The only other thing I can suggest is uninstall with titanium and extract the apk from gapps and re install.

Have you check your "Layers" setting ?? Go to the 3 dots on the upper right of N7 Navigation Screen, open up & clear any check marks inside Layers - is "Traffic view" checked ??

Actually thought, wait, but did check that. Not sure if it's the version, but the 3 dots is the settings, there is another icon, looks like 3 stacks of paper which is the layers, and all are unchecked.

Think I will give that a go. Already rooted and paid titanium, so might as well give that a shot.
Thanks for the read/replies...
EDIT: Firmware update in canada fixed these issues.

8min 32seconds. His LED flip cases are getting that spinning circle notification for things like whatsapp and stuff.
All I get on mine is missed call and text.
I don't get missed email alert or missed whatsapp or the spinning circle (which I think is a general notification for any 3rd party app that isn't phone or text)
I checked every setting !
I also did a hard reset (hold down 3 buttons, navigate with volume and hard reset and reboot)
Nothing helped.... I still don't get that spinning circle notification.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS: Samsung support has no idea whats the issue...
I tried hard reset, still not getting it
Any ideas?

I got my Note 4 on the 21st of january, the led flip wallet the day after and I've had de circling dots since the beginning. Running Dutch NK4 build completely stock.
I get the circling dots, I get an an icon when something new arrives but after that.. just the dots.
If I press the side button or open/close the case, all I get is the time - no icons to show what's been missed. Is this the normal/expected way it works?
I'm unimpressed!

I think it only displays missed Call and Text.
For email, whatsapp and all other notifications, it only does the spinning dots.
I get the circling dots pretty much all the time, even when I have no notifications. eg Right now. If I open the cover, slide down the notification panel, there are no notifications. If I close the case, the time briefly displays and the case then goes blank for a whole minute. Then up pops the spinning circle again.
Yes the case is on properly. :crying:
Love my G 4, Love Resurrection Remix, but the software home and back buttons are making me insane. They appear below the keyboard when I type and I very often hit them when typing. I searched and searched and cannot find any reference to this which leads me to believe there is a simple solution I am overlooking. Can someone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction? Thank you.

So in the RR rom I found where you can turn off the nav bar. But that kills it 100% so that is not feasible. I then found in customization settings for the RR Rom "expanded desktop". This allows you to turn off the nav bar in particular apps. While this works, as soon as the keyboard pops up so does the nav bar.
I might try killing the nav bar and turning on Pie controls (built into the Rom).

Understood. It appears to be an issue for me because when hitting the space bar I often hit the nav bar closing my app or pulling up the task list.
As of now I have it disabled and am using the fingerprint scanner as a home button.
