I'm getting an RMA from NVIDIA, since I bought it from them. They called me (which is awesome btw) and told me they've never heard of the issue I had, even during testing.

After two days, the controls stopped working. So only the touchscreen worked.

Nvidia is awesome. they sent me a new shield and i have to ship back the 1st one in 10 days. I called in an RMA Monday. got shipping confirmation Tuesday. and got it on Thursday - only because I wasn't home Wednesday . Shipped by Fedex Express. my 1st shield has a broken left speaker.
If it's selling so well then why is this forum like a ghost town? =D I'm sure they sold all two units sent to gamestop.

Sold out? Wow! I'm genuinely surprised after all the crap I kept reading on the web about how much people hated the shield.
I gotta say I love it. It may basically be a super powerful phone with a controller attached but I don't have/need a cell phone so it's perfect for my emulation needs. Been playing DS on it more than my real 3ds.

Haha,had to reply to this. From what gamestop told me I was literally the ONLY person in Bakersfield california to buy one from any gamestop in town and I live 40 miles form there.
Regardless, seems this is doing better overall than the Ouya, which is a commercial failure. Gamestick will probably have the same fate. Proprietary markets for Android seem a dead end.

I went to staples tonight and bought a xoom wifi off the shelf. WOOT, Since I live in Utah, all the staples are closed Sunday so I guess they opened sales up early.

I just bought one today at the Redmond, WA Staples. I thought the wi-fi only version was not supposed to be available until tomorrow (Sunday 3/27) and in fact Best Buy either didn't have them today or wouldn't sell me one... but Staples did.
So far, I like this thing.

Question... Does the box have any special staples code on it? And does the receipt show the serial number. The reason I ask is because I was thinking about buying one then returning my amazon order to staples when it comes in.

They're always gonna have special bar codes to identify each unit individually. One reason is to keep people from doing something like this....
Just wait 2 days for your Amazon order or just return it when it gets here if you buy the Staples one.

Crazy, i was born and raised in Redmond!
I saw the model version at staples in new York. They didn't have any for sale...either that it was all bought out. But the demo unit had the latest 3.01 version. From all demo units I saw, none of them had internet access at all! It's quite a shame cuz there's a lot to show. But the demo unit was snappy and fast!
Just picked mine up at Staples(manassas,Va in case anyone cares)! Unfortunately it came with the battery completely drained so im waiting for it to charge enough to turn on.

Woot, got mine from Staples today. At first they refused to sell it to me, claiming they had to give me an 'orientation' first. I simply asked if they were ready to lose out on $600.
So far I like it. Typing on it now, the keyboard isn't ideal for two-handed typing. Gotta touch type. Also not seeing spellcheck in the browser. And typing on the full XDA site is realllllly laggy. Wondering if that's due to flash. Oh well, so far so good.
It is a bit heavy room come to think of it. Damn!
Edit: Spellcheck has to be enabled in the keyboard settings. Gah, such a n00b error.

The xda site is very laggy on the xoom. It has been that way since day 1 with any xoom. Get thumb keyboard in market for excellent typing on xoom.
I've kept my eye on search on both XDA (i've searched my ass off) and Google - I can't find ANY intel on when GS is said to get their shipments.
The few people that got theirs from GS don't provide much info.
Is gamestop supposed to get a shipment soon, or am I DEFINITELY waiting til September 30th? (I *really* want to withdraw the $100 I put on it, and just buy it somewhere that has it, but I am getting a lot from trade-ins)

I believe I saw they will be getting a shipment August 7th. I think I saw it on one of the major tech blog sites but I can't remember for sure.
I got mine at Gamestop on a walk-in that Saturday after they went on the website as shipping in 1 day then they went backordered. When I went in guy said he didn't even think his store would get one because nobody preordered it and they weren't expecting anything til August at the soonest. Now I heard September as well when I stopped in the other day thats pretty crazy
I preordered mine on the 17th of July on Gamestop and received my Nexus yesterday, and I was told that it would arrive on August 7th.

The quality is great. No defects so far. The only downside I have noticed is that it won't charge off anything except the charger that came with it.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that is an actual defect. Search around, and you'll see what i mean. If you can live with it, do so by all means..But i could see it getting annoying in the long run

I'm leaving for vacation on the 18th, giving me three business days to receive the device (UPS doesn't deliver on Saturdays, I believe) which is already making me nervous. If I do actually receive the device, I'm absolutely terrified that I won't have a case, especially considering this device is made mostly of glass. I've seen a couple but none of them are actually available until the 17th at the earliest. Are there any available right now? I'm not being picky at all. Anything will work. It can definitely be something temporary. Hell, I'll even accept silicon. That's how desperate I am.
I haven't been able to find much at all. But if you're looking for a quick fix, there are some leather pouches on ebay being marketed for the Nex4. I've contacted one of the ebay sellers and asked about the dimensions....They said it was the correct size for it.

Yeah, it's not exactly what I'm looking for either. But considering my luck with phones in the past.....I need something at least. I want a really good case, but I don't want to get the phone and wait a week or two for a case to be produced and then break it.... That's No Bueno.

Exactly. And I wouldn't be so worried if I were going to be at home. But I'm going to be staying in a cabin with wood floors and in a largely populated area Black Friday shopping. It's basically a recipe for disaster. In a way, it might be a good thing if I did wait...but there's no way I can do that :laugh:

I did consider this, but it seems that it won't be released until the 20th. I ordered a front protector (which I might cancel and order both the front and back soon) from XOSkins that is apparently supposed to ship out on the 13ths. I'm taking a ton of gambles with this one.

Got the Nexus early today from my local best buy called them and they told me a truck was coming at 5PM picked up a 32GB model with also a chromecast have any questions feel free to ask anything also willing to help for future development

Like Nburnes said, seems Best Buy started selling them early, so everyone else just followed along. I drove down from Toronto to Buffalo to grab one
Went to best buy today with no luck decided to go to gamestop just to look around and they had it in stock! Got mine with one year insurance which was cheaper than best buys insurance soviets it worked out.

I knew i should have called gamestop i think i called 5 different staples and then called 3 different best buys lol to finally get some one to tell me were getting another shipment
I ordered mine Friday from Amazon and had it Saturday delivered. So glad cause I'm leaving out of town for work and I didn't want to be chasing down stores in an unfamiliar town.
I already got a Samsung wireless charger base ordered and my Portenzo Book case preordered. Trying to find a SP now.

Agreed. The reviews tend to justify the $350 price, but it's just not a magic spot. $299 along with an actual advertising campaign would've sold these things like hotcakes.
