i had a friend who got bootloop when he installed from JB, and i got this problem with CM10 too

Still have the Probleme
still have The boot loop when im install CM 10.1 in my JB 4..1.2 Rooted i do this thing
* Wipe data
* Wipe cache
* Wipe dalvik cache
* Flash the CM10.1 zip
* Reboot
* boot into recovery mode
* Install gapps
* Reboot

Turn off your phone. Press 'Volume -' button and plug in the USB cable, then open KDZ Updater and flash V20C with root or V20D with recovery. In both cases, after flashing, install SuperSU and update binary.
If you installed V20C you need to unlock bootloader and recovery. If you installed the V20D you don't need that.
Just place the CM 10.1 zip file in your sdcard as well as gapps and enter recovery mode (when mobile is shutdown, just press 'Volume -' button alongside with Home button and then press Power button. When the phone turns on, release the Power button).
After that, just wipe data and cache and format system, data and cache. Install CM 10.1 and reboot.
It should work

Do I need to Root

Best bet is too pick a rom that is already rooted for you. If you unlocked your bootloader im assuming you plan on using custom roms so just skip the stock and get a rom thats done already. Stock pre-rooted are available as well.
1. First things first: Get fastboot here---> http://gititbit.ch/FAST If you already have it go to #2
2. Get romracers CWM. Get it here---> (pick your favorite color) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
3. Reboot phone into fastboot mode.( Power on phone while holding down on the volume rocker then press up on the volume when you see fastboot. First choice and when you hit up it will say starting fastboot protocol.
Fastboot how to--->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175110&highlight=fastboot+how+to
4. Flash romracers CWM recovery--- Fastboot flash recovery c:\ XXXXX.img
Pick a rom you like, put it on SD Card-reboot phone holding volume down. scroll through options pressing down only till you see android recovery and press up. It will now go into romracers recovery, choose install from sd card, then pick your rom and flash.
Thank you so much. These instructions seem pretty straight forward and simple. I shall do this later when i get home. Very nice instructions ty.
Edit: So once i install cwm i can just install any custom rom?

As long as your unlocked and have either tenfars or romracers cwm then yes. Romracers cwm is the standerd now.

I think i might go with the alien rom but do you have any that you would recommend? Also any kernels that you would recommend?
Since your kinda new to it all, go with cherry(3.14) or alien. I ran both but ran alien once it got to the 3rd release. Kens work is great. I'm running cm7 beta now but its not fully functional yet. Cherry pie was a little flashy for me. Alien has a good balance of tweaks and color
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Just be sure to wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, go to advanced and wipe dalvik..then install alien...and after it installs wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik again then reboot. If your installing the theme for alien, just reboot into recov and follow the same wipe routine install theme wipe routine again.
Even though it says its a full wipe rom still manually wipe withe routine above. Follow that routine for any rom you install.

Will do. Thanks again.
No prob

Failed to Install CM 10. Won't turn on! Help

Hello All,
Here I'm a newbie trying to install a CM 10.1 by ROM management, Yet I guess I forgot to install gapps-jb-4.2, So no my phone wouldn't turn on. When I push the power bottom, It will give me a picture of Cyanogenmod and would just stop there. And i tried to plug the phone into computer and put the gapps-jb-4.2 into the SD so that it will continue install I guess. But my computer wouldn't recognize the phone now. Could someone help me out with this? Thank you so much.
Boot into boot loader by holding the power button and the volume buttons. When it boots press volume down to scroll until you see recovery. Boot into recovery then do a clean flash of cm 10 and then flash gapps after.

Thanks. I tried it, it vibrates. And then nothing happens
not installing gapps does nothing bad to your device. the inly difference is that you wont have the google apps. many people choose not to flash it. what you want to do is flash roms in recovery mode, not through rom managee. flashing via app results in trouble many times. boot into recovery, if you have the rom/gapps in storage, wipe data then flash the rom/gapps, then reboot. if you dont have a custom recovery, flash one via fastboot. itll have an option to move files over from your computer to phone via adb. download and move the rom(and gapps) to your phone. wipe data, flash the rom/gapps, then reboot.

Also, OP said he can see the cyanogen mod logo. Probably just a faulty install or corrupted download, although the second is unlikely because recovery is supposed to check the MD5 sum before installing the package.
He shouldn't need to do a factory reset or wipe cache. Installing the CM package should have done all of those automatically.

if coming from a rom thats not cm based, you have to wipe data(factory reset) before flashing cm.
Do this:
With the phone On power off state, press and hold power and volume down button.
As soon as you see the Google logo let go of the buttons and press volume down button one more time.
You should enter bootloader. Fro there use the volume down button to choose Recovery mode. Press power button to enter recovery mode.
You can then try to reinstall the ROM.
Otherwise, you can use one of the toolkit in the Original Android Development section to install factory image. You will have to have the phone in Bootloader state for the kit to factory restore. From there you can root, flash recovery, and then install ROM.

[Q] Signature failed issue when installing Shabby kernel and root zip.

I am in the process of installing root and Shabby's kernel and SuperSU on my phone.
Found in this thread.
I have the recovery installed fine. It seems like people were saying that was the hard part in the thread but here is where my problem comes in.
I reboot my phone into the Recovery. I move down to apply update from external storage. When I get there, I see "Stock-MDL-Stable-spr-TW.zip" and "SuperSU-v1.25+.zip"
When I go onto the kernel "Stock-MDL-Stable-spr-TW.zip" and choose to install it, it says a few things and then "E:signature verification failed" then a few other things and says it was complete. It then reboots. The kernel version stays the same as stock. What do I do to get by the "E:signature verification failed"?
EDIT: This is my About Device picture.

What does your recovery page look like. I had the same issue and it was because I didnt uncheck reboot in Odin after flashing the recovery. So it rebooted & reverted back to the stock kernel is & when i opened up recovery every zip I tried to flash said E signature failure, or something like that. What u need to do is re Odin the custom recovery, but uncheck the reboot option. After using odin & flashing the recovery zip turn device off. Disconnect from ur computer & manually boot into recovery, then wipe cache/dalvik & flash the kernel,& last flash the SuperSU zip. Then reboot & use an app to freeze the app seandroid. Freezing the app has been the only way to get rid of that stupid warning. & just going into developer options & unchecking the USB app security, or whatever its called, still gives me the seandroid has closed, or force closed every 3-30 minutes. So freezing seandroid works the best.

LG L5 e610

Hello guys,
I need some help. I have LG L5 e610 version. I did root it by the guide on YT. All went ok, Ive had root and CWM.
Then Ive decided to install cm11 on it.. Ive gotten error 7 every time.. Ive then tried to flash mahdi.. Same problem.. Then I've thought it has to be the recovery! And because I'm "to smart" I've flashed philz touch recovery.. Last one in his drive folder.. Now when i try to go to recovery i get white screen and then this:

Can someone please help me with that? I know Ill have to flash stock kdz back, right? But what to do from there on to get the CM or mahdi or any other KK to work?
Many thanks for responses!
Well first things first, go back to stock via kdz, then get cwm via kdz agen, then what you need to do is download cm11 the gapps and download cwm 6.0.4.8 flashable zip, go in to cwm, flash the 6.0.4.8 cwm file. Reboot your phone. Go back in to recovery whipe data /factory reset, whipe delvic cach, mount system format system, install cm11 from sd. Reboot.
after first reboot go back in to recovery flash gapps. Reboot.
After the phone boots up turn it off and turn it back on, and see if every thing is working.

Hi,
Since you already have a rooted SGS4, you would have to flash a custom recovery to flash the ROM:http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...recovery-twrp-2-8-1-0-touch-recovery-t2942159
Here is the Cyanogenmod 12 ROM for your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nogenmod-12-0-galaxy-s4-lte-gt-i9506-t2988464

Downloaded the gapps-modular-pico(uni)-5.0.1-RC2-20150125a-signed.zip and put it on the sd card. Then enterd recovery and did a wipe (it says that it wipes data cashe and dalvik) Then i installed the zip from cyanogenmod and then the gapps zip. When reboting it stops on start screen and says Kernel is not SEANDROID enforcing Set waranty bit: kernel
Did i download the wrong gapps file, there was two and i downloaded the one above...
