So I was running Liquid 2.9, everything was fine no issues. Got the flash bug and flashed SlimRoms build 8. Full wiped and followed the ROMs installation guide. Everything went fine. Started to download apps from the play store and after one download, all the installs freeze. So thinking it was a bad flash possibly, I re-downloaded the rom, full wipe and flashed. Problem still persists. Went back to Liquid 2.9 where there weren't issues before. Same issue downloading apps. I've cleared cache and dalvik cache. Cleared data and cache from the app store and download manager and problem still persists. Any advice or help would be much appreciated, thanks guys and girls!
Edit: I am conneted to wifi, internet is working as I can browse, sync contacts, etc..

There's a couple of threads about people having trouble with the play store. Maybe your issue is similar. It might be worth checking out just in case.

I appreciate your service in policing the forums. I searched, all the threads I've seen have ended in the OP still looking for help and more specifically not much insight in the s4 recently. Tried most of what everyone in the other threads have said to no avail soo, I came here to ask for any additional help. Thank you for your advice, I will look harder.
Are you signed into hangouts or gtalk--think this is needed
Did you wipe System as part of your full wipe--I wipe all 3X
My last step is to format sd and start over--or if you have an sdcard backup of internal. Can you replace Android with your backup--not sure if any of this sdcard stuff will help though
Reflash gapps--don't know if I ever did that on a non--cm rom

There have been no real solutions other than to download hideman vpn app and have it connect then I haven't had an issue with any app downloading. I believe this is a play store issue. Not a phone issue.

Sorry man, but there's like six of these threads going on at the same time. It's hard to keep track of all of them. And you're right, there is no definitive answer other than it appears it's an issue on Google's end.
Some other ideas here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2089470
Or, try an older version of Play Store
Did notice another thread too--may be the Store. But, no harm trying other things--

I am having this problem recently. I try to download any app or an update to any app. It will just sit at starting download and never download.
I am on Fresh ROM 1.0
I did update some apps after installing the ROM so that's not the problem.
I also have a problem that if I clear the cache, when I reboot Everything force and keeps force closing forever. Whats up with that? isn't the cache supposed to recompile on reboot?
I tried clearing the cache to fix the market issue to no avail (beacuse of all the force closes never got to see what happened after clearing cache). I tried clearing the cache from recovery and using Fresh's app installer, and both times tons of force closes.
Someone please HELP!
U probably need to login to gtalk. I had the same problem from using autostarts. Jus open the gtalk app, it will/should sign u in automatically.
this is not a gtalk issue. gtalk is not even related to what problem he has. i had it happen to me on my eris when i was playing around in the bootloader. when i started back up everything force closed and would not start. only sugetion i can give you on the force close it is a factory reset or ruu reset both will work. as far as downloads not starting are you rooted?
Yes, to install a custom ROM you need to be rooted. Tried the gtalk sing in to fix the Market issue and no dice. Still hanguing...
Anything else??

So I'm not going to call you out or something, but please read before you speak. Gtalk is MAJORLY tied in to the market and it is a documented fix from google themselves to try signing in to gtalk to fix stalled downloads.
Even though it doesn't work for everyone (depending on the reason it's stalled) it IS related.

Hundreds (maybe thousands?) of posts. Starting back in March and dating all the way until today. Google hasn't been able to resolve the issue. I can tell you that what has always worked for me is a combination of cancel download > disable wifi > disable mobile data > enable mobile data > try download again.
Didn't work? Reboot and repeat. Eventually it will go......
Thanks a lot flipz. I'll try that

95% of the time your second sugestion works. it may be that gtalk has major issues with stalled downloads but ussually i have this issue when i start my download over wifi for some reason it just never connect to the google server but when i kill the download and connect over 3G or Edge it works everytime on my G1. that's been a documented fix too. this issue only happens more frequently on custom roms than stock android roms. so it's more of a rom issue that googe issue. we're all here to help each other not trash talk each other. from my point of veiw gtalk may have some type of issue but it's more with the rom cooks than the app itself and it's not their fault either gtalk was desighned to work on googles cookie cutter os not on the home brew roms so errors happen you just have to know how to sweat talk your andoid to doing things when issues happen. the problem i had with your post was you only stated the gtalk issue when the wifi issue is more prevelent. i wasn't sure if he was on stock os or custom os so i asked about it. then i would have given him the instructions on turning off the the wifi, killing the downloads, and restarting the phone. like you told him to in the second post cause that seem to work better than the gtalk method.

sorry. i did not read your post clearly thought when you said fresh you ment fresh install. haven't really been keeping up with the hero roms to much and thier names still waiting for my eris to get it's turn at root. when i saw your post it just reminded me of how my rooted G1 would not start downloads over wifi. so i asked rooted or not just to be on the safe side.
the thing that got me a little heated was when he said "not to call you out" then he goes into a trist about how wifi seems to be the better fix.
by the way did you get your problem fixxed?

I ended up factory resetting and now everything downloads normally
So... apps were downloading perfect from market UNTIL I restored a nandroid backup. Afterwards, Apps hang again. I mean exactly after restoring, went to the market and the problem is there again. Can the problem be tied to restoring backups? Or just coincidence?
Update:
Got the downloads working after clearing the cache of every single google application on the phone as well as IM.
After this, started downloading the app and it still hung. Opened gtalk and exactly as it signed in it started downloading fine.
I tried the afore mentioned fixes and had no luck, so for anyone who has this issue and has not been able to resolve it, this is another workaround.
Just FYI to anyone still with problems, I had problems again today EXACTLY after restoring a backup again.
This post I quoted by Zippy-man did the trick today Great Help..

Today after I flashed the latest JPX Docrom, I wanted to visit the Market. Suddenly appeared to me the following error message: "Warning: Your device may not be compatible with Android Market For more information, contact the manufacturer of this product.". In the Market I have now lost my installed applications displayed and when I search for "documents" I hit only 5 results.
What I've tried:
-Re flashed the Rom
-flashed JM9 and then the standard JPX-
-flashed CyanogenMod
-searched for errors in the build.prop
etc. ......
I really do not know what more can I do? It would be very nice if you could help me.
I'm really sorry for my bad English
Have you wiped cache & dalvik cache after install?
This should be in general...
I wiped the normal and the dalvik cache and made an factory reset.
I have the same problem too
with original JPU, JPX, JPO, JM9, JP6... with all, the problem appears again
I have the same problem!
I tryed JPU clean without any mod/kernel ecc but 2 day ago was all fine..
Someone have this problem? what can we do to resolve?
Please help...
Thanks
This could be another time a problem with google. Like with the download problem.
i had this problem too this morning (i'm not on Doc's rom or anything, just using Supercurio's VooDoo kernel on stock FroYo). I got it fixed after clearing the Market Cache, after that i restarted the Market app, and immediately had the NEW Market layout. Maybe it's worth a shot.
J.
Maybe,
but why someone have this problem and someone no...
i can't understand this absurd situation...
But I´m glad to see that this not only my problem.
got same problem... tried everything, wiping everything lots of different roms.. nothing helps
Try updating to the latest version of market. Not via phone, but either search in the xda or google it & install.

also tried this, will try it again.
Think it's somehow coupled to my google account.
Today i have the same problem. My device mounts the RSJP5 rom. I guess that it is a server issue, or a random google account issue.

I tried to flash many roms, with the newer and the old market version and all times I have the same problem
Hey everyone I need some urgent help before I leave in 6 hours for a business trip ( and I NEED a working phone )
Long story short I was running Task650's rom with no issues for about 3-4 weeks
2 days ago my phone was just ripping through battery ( 100-0% in 2 hours ) Did some investigating and "mediascannerservice" was running none stop. I couldn't figure out why or how to fix it.
format, wiped / reset and clear cache and davik..installed the same rom
Same issue.
this time I formatted everything ( system, data, cache, sd card ) ( I had everything off that I wanted to keep )
Flashed a 4.3 rom and I couldn't install any packages ( mostly google packages like chrome and G+ ) I kept getting "package file is invalid" I did all the tricks I found online that people used to fix it...but no avail. So I thought it was a 4.3 thing.
did another wipe / format etc
I went back to Task650s rom which is a 4.2.2 rom ( that worked fine installing apps ) and I'm getting the same error ( package file is invalid )
What could be the issue? How can I fix it? What did I mess up?
any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll paypal anyone if they help me.

If you're still running tasks aokp, there is an option in developer settings to disable media scanner on boot. Try disabling it and see if it stops the drain

Clearing Play Store app cache and data and even uninstalling Play Store updates are other options.

I'm out of ideas, but if you can manage to deal with the redundancy of a Google search, there seems to be about a dozen different ways to get past the issue.
I had that issue once yesterday while my phone tried doing an auto-update. No issues today. I was on 4.3 KB.

Man this sucks. I'm temped to ODIN back to stock and start fresh.
Try installing Hotspot Shield VPN and installing updates with it connected - worked for both my phone and my wives...it is the only thing that seems to resolve this issue - and I've been trouble shooting it for about 24 hours now. If you can't get Hotspot Shield to install, try Hideman VPN. Works just as well, but it has limited use. I had to disable wifi to get them to install.
If that works for you - I can send paypal info

did you ever answer if you had an i337 or i337m?
I use OUDhs recovery and I have been using Task 650's AOKP ROM without issue.
You must do the following:
Flash the OUDhs recovery if you dont' have it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291956
Per Task's Thread -
Wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache (found in advanced)
format system (do this again anyway)
format data (do this again anyway)
fix permissions (found in advanced)
Flash the AOKP ROM
You can now wipe both cache again or just reboot.

Good Afternoon,
I searched around and was unable to come up with any answers, or similar forums for that matter.
I would post this in the thread that I downloaded the update from, however I'm apparently a noob

Anyways, I downloaded Google Play Edition 4.4.2 for X907, I updated from the official VZW 4.4.2
using RSD Lite. So far I love it, however there's one thing that erks me, when ever I try and open
"Backup and Reset" under the Settings Menu I'm informed that "Settings has stopped working".
When I flashed the update, I kept userdata, I did however Erase Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, it bugs me that this one thing doesn't work
Thanks.

Hmm. just a thought on yours, might be wrong but did you flash an official or take the OTA for 4.4.2 prior to upgrading to the Google Play Edition of 4.4.2? If not that's your problem.

I'd just backup using TWRP and then if you want to factory reset, do it on TWRP as well. I had GPE and don't recall this issue, though I did a full data wipe when I did because I wanted a fresh start.

Thanks, I was hoping not to have to resort to that, as it's such a tiny problem, I just realized that my camera app is having difficulty focusing
although I think that's a KitKat issue. Oh well I already have a NANDROID backup, so I'll do just that, factory data reset and see if that helps if not oh well I'll just restore.
Thanks again.

Hmm. just a thought on yours, might be wrong but did you flash an official or take the OTA for 4.4.2 prior to upgrading to the Google Play Edition of 4.4.2? If not that's your problem.
Hope that helps..

As long as you are rooted and not on ART xposed will work. I did it on my stock ROM, and also on GPE.

Good Afternoon,
I searched around and was unable to come up with any answers, or similar forums for that matter.
I would post this in the thread that I downloaded the update from, however I'm apparently a noob
and am unworthy to post there until I post ten times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it bugs me that this one thing doesn't work
Thanks.

Go to the App Info page for the Settings app and clear data. That usually works when the settings crashes after a rom update

Thanks, it's just a bug in the gpeLse for the XT907, other users are having the same problem, no matter how many times I re-flash
and or wipe dalvik and cache the problem persists.
Probably do to the removal of something Motorola Had in place in the 4.4.2 release for the XT907, as I knew it was working with the Stock Rom.
Thanks All.
Hey all,
Today I've noticed that Google assistent can't register any sound. I thought my microphone might be broken, but it seems to work just fine on other apps and on calls. I've Uninstalled the Google app updates, cleared the data and cache, cleared cache in oneplus recovery, rebooted, checked permissions, but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas?
Maybe try clean flashing whatever ROM you're on? I know, bit of an extreme solution but you've already tried the usual troubleshooting steps so I thought I'd suggest it!

I'm completely stock. Reflashing the whole rom and having to backup all data for this feels like a real pain in the *ss, but I guess I have no choice.. I might wait for the official Android 8 ROM to be released though. Thanks got your reply!
Well, I've reflashed several times now (including android o beta) but it is still not working. All Google services aren't registering any sound input, while my mic works fine. Any clues?
Edit: it does work with a Bluetooth headset, but not without.
