Cant Mount SD card - G1 General

I have a problem, A G1 cant mount a sd card, I try different and nothing, but it works in another G1, I get this error in recovery
build: RA-dream-v1.7.0
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or dev/block/mmblk0)
(No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount SDCARD
I found this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1084296&page=2
But, i see that ezterry say's that the problem is:
The problem is: board_trout.disable_sdcard=1
But in the code that the phone return is =0
Here is it:
board_trout.disable_uart3=0 board_trout.usb_h2w_sw=0 board_trout.disable_sdcard=
0 smisize=64 androidboot.baseband=2.22.16.19 androidboot.cid=T-MOB010 androidbo
ot.carrier=TMUS androidboot.keycaps=qwerty androidboot.mode=recovery androidboot
.serialno=************** androidboot.bootloader=1.42.2000 no_console_suspend=1 con
sole=tty0
So, that solution will work? or make the thing worse?

It won't make things worse but it looks like sdcard slot is bad on yours, this is part of the daughterboard and about 10 bucks if you can find one. Takes 15min to replace

Allrigh, thanks I will try, if not I will search for one

Yeah, try it and not luck:/ and with the other G1 i think that the camera is dead, the camera app force close, I try 2 roms and nothing

Maybe try swapping the boards between the two and have one fully working and one kinda beat up phone?

I will try that, that was i did first, because one of then doesnt get signal before :/ xD they are a monsters, like frankenstein :/ haha

[Help] USB not working

Hi all,
I have an issue with my HTC Magic (Rogers' 32A), I am pretty pessimistic about being able to fix it, but if I don't ask I will never know
So here's the problem:
My phone fell in the water.
I took it out, removed the battery, let it dry.
Now everything is working fine except the USB connection, when I plug it to a PC via USB there is no notification, but the phone charges fine.
Basically I don't see the USB device and the can't browse the sd card, I have to take it out and use a card reader.
Also I can't adb, fastboot etc...
Other weird thing happening, when the phone is off the screen is always on, I have to remove the battery for the screen to completely shut off.
When the system is running, when I press the END/Hang Up key, the screen shuts off normally
It seems like a Hardware issue, that's why I don't think there is a (easy) way to fix it.
But I am asking here just in case.
Thank you.
sounds like a hardware issue...
Thank you, that's what I tought...
I ordered a screwdriver for the phone... gonna try to clean up the inside...
Anyone knows if there's a tutorial on how to take the phone appart and putting it back together with out breaking anything ?
check out this thread for service manuals with full tear down info, page 2 specifically for the download link (phandroid), the links on page 1 are dead now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=490774
also you can google magic service manual and find tons of links..
good luck, hope you can get your magic fixed
Go into terminal and see if you can manually mount it
$su
#mount /sdcard
___________________________
If that doesnt work, you might want to search for the /dev/block
that enables it internally.. Its around here, but im too lazy to look and link.
x) hope that helps you..
I got the PDF, that's exactly what i was looking for, I shall try it when I get the tools.
I tried the mount technique but it failed:
Code:
mount: mouting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed: Device or resource busy
Thanks guys for all your help.
no, just
$su
#mount /sdcard
thats it lol no dev

yes, that's what I did.
I just pasted the result.
sorry should have been more specific.
like this :
Code:
$su
#mount /sdcard
mount: mouting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed: Device or resource busy
#
Ok, I finally got to disassemble the phone, clean up and blow away the dust/dirt.
And it seems like it fixed the USB issue, I am able to see the usb drive, adb, fastboot, etc...
But the screen is still back lit when the phone is turned off...
Anyways
Thanks for all you help guys.

How can I tell if I flashed correctly?

No.. Thats what it is supposed to say on Bionix 1.5..
Is your theme "Blackish"? If so then you flashed it
i dont think so... seems to the same theme as TWlauncher and default background was the grass. : \ i went into rom manager and chose to install from SD again and chose bionix but when it goes into clockwork , there's an error and it says no rom exists or it cant be found. wtf lol im so confused. deleted it from sd card and putting it back and trying again now
same thing again... exact wording is E: Cant open /sdcard/sd/bionix1_5_JACS_OCUV.zip (No such file or directory) installation aborted.
What am i doing wrong? am i supposed copy the file onto internal SD or something?

[Beta]USB Mount All

I was wondering if anyone is interested in beta testing this app. It will scan for all usb drives attached and give you a list to mount or unmount. It supports ext2, ext3, ext4, fat32 and ntfs.
The app will support up to 50 devices, i'm not sure how many the tablet can handle though.
* Requires root and busybox.
EDIT: APK updated on May 29, 2011 12:39 PM CST (v1.1 beta 2)

@GeneralSmart. I just updated a new apk to the OP, please try it and see if works.
Once HC3.1 comes around, it should auto-detect plug/unplug and I can do an auto-mount option. Also thinking about adding an option to mount to the drive label instead of device id. (ie. /mnt/MyDrive instead of /mnt/sda1).
This may work on other devices too (Xoom, Asus), but I don't have any to test. I wonder if i can root a xoom at bestbuy.. lol
Works now...thank you for your work! (could been my fault cause i had no busybox installed, sry)
schweet.................
B'dazz man. Imma start using this to change some files in the system partition. THANKS MAN!
OK, when I connect a 16GB thumb drive it is detected
/dev/block/sda1 (/mnt/usbOTG) Type: fat32 Size: 14.9G Label: B041-B354
When I tried my 250G Passport it doesn't recognize it. My Xoom hasn't been able to recognize it at all.
Also, when the thumb drive was connected, I selected unmount all (in order to safely remove it) and it temporarily messed something up in my file system. i had lines overwritten in ES File Explorer saying "SD card is not mounted" but my external sdcard was still mounted.
Anyway, that's the extent of my beta testing so far. I don't know if my explanation was clear, so ask any questions, and I'll try to answer. I would like some way of mounting the Passport, if possible.

When it picked it up, was it already mounted? Or did you have to click mount and this you got the line above? That looks like an Android auto-mount and you should have still had a "Mount" button next to it. Clicking it should have changed the mount point to /mnt/sda1 (or something like it). Where then it would be mounted on both paths (at least that's how it works on acer). Then unmounting should change it back to (/mnt/usbOTG), which can't be manually unmounted for some reason (again, that's how it works on Acer).

Can you check if the drive type is Basic or Dynamic in the windows drive manager (see screenshot http://screencast.com/t/EZwRgotf)
I havn't tested a Dynamic drive, so not sure if Android has the drivers to handle it. If it's Basic, then something else is going on.

Did it mess up the filesystem on the USB drive? like currupt files or the FAT? It sounds like ES File Explorer may have just freaked out because an mount dissappeared that it was currently browsing. I'll download ES File Explorer and play with it and see if I can duplicate the results here.
Thanks!

For the brief time that I had the Asus TF... it auto detect the USB/MicroUSB...etc plus when you click ( lower right )...it also gave the option to unmount too.
Thanks for this app... I've been wondering why we do not have the unmount option with our A500... seems pulling a usb device out without unmounting first is a recipe for corrupted files and defect device at a later point in time...etc
Works great for me, first try. Pretty frickin' sweet. Good work, sir!
i guess im the first to try multiple devices on here? it works great, sees all devices attached. great work! now my hub can go with me and my tablet when im on the go
Works fine in my Iconia, but needs to install BusyBox older version of 1.18.0.
Crash about 30% of time.

ok... so i'm trying for the 100th time to install this silly thing... and for some reason... when i try to run it... it kicks me out...
i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong...
when i attempt to pause the install process... i get a screen full of if i type adb without an argument...
if someone could gimme a hand with this or tell me what the hell i am doing wrong... i'd appreciate it...
i wanna try to get laidaxin's cm7.2 working on my phone...
i dunno if it matters... but i am attempting to install from a windows xp machine...
Hello!
First, Thanks to all people around this work, specially Laidaxin for good work.
Well, sadly... I also still stuck on install the FlipSide recovery option of the first post... I did all te proccess by eleven times, testing different details that may be not clear for me (as run as administrator, with abd CMD screen closed and opened, if the version of adb never shows me the logs that appears in cmd screenshot... several times I got on the FlipSide the screens talking about su and later 2ndinit script got superuser permissions... but the screens of cmd generated by the script are so fast that was not able to read or check if the 2ndinit script was succesfull or if there something else that may be failing/missed... so by now still no luck)
as a resume, in hope that may help to test from new friends around here:
1) I reflashed my FlipSide to stock with sbf from the other thread tutorial (I use sbfflash in linux and everything works fine, using Power+UParrow in keyboard to enter in bootloader mode my Flipside)... and then I insert my SIM and SD card wiped with only the CM7-Laidaxin.zip file on it, ...complete setup as minimal possible in order to be able to set USB mode to memory access, and turn on usb development in applications menu.
2) Then I ROOT with SuperOneClick version 2.1.1!!! and connect my phone in normal use screen home (NOT bootloader mode!) with UBS debugging turn on and with USB mode set to memory card access (NOT Moto Portal No Media access...), the other methos with Z4root and newer versions of SuperOneClick FAILS for me...
3) I then try to install recovery with Laidaxin installer and procedure, but as I said after some attemps I still not success in get the recovery working, also try diferent ways... removing battery then reboot with VolumeDown pressed, Turn off normal and repeat, turning ON AND AFTER see the Red Moto press the VolDown key short time, later maintained it long, then pressing it several times, etc...
So, I made this resume in order to share info from my side and hope to save some time to other friends that may want to test the CM7 from Laidaxin, than in fact seems like a GREAT work for our Flips... so please if any help to get this fully working and tested will be very gratefull...
Best regards!

You should be able to install it like this:
- Extract everything in the "data" folder into a folder called "bootmenu" on your sdcard
- Then use either "adb shell" from a command prompt, or Terminal Emulator on the phone should work:
Code:
su
cp -R /sdcard/bootmenu /data/bootmenu
cd /data/bootmenu
chmod 0755 *
./install.sh
And it should say "Install complate...."
You can also remove the folder(s) if you want:
Code:
rm -R /data/bootmenu
rm -R /sdcard/bootmenu
Then to get into it, reboot the phone and once the notification light turns on, hit volume down

laidaxin's rom replaces this recovery with one that doesn't quite work perfectly yet...
You should be able to boot back into CM7 and re-run the above commands and it'll work again
That doesn't change anything for me... it still won't unmount system...

It does the same for me, which is what's keeping me from trying CM7, as I have no way to restore my current nandroid. The defy installs their recovery to /system as well and I gather that it works as intended, I wonder if it's that we need our own build of CWM. Do we know if whoever built CWM for the defy has their source tweaks available?
Unless you have something irreplacable in your /system or /data... I would just have RSD lite and an sbf ready... and take the plunge...
Because....
When you use CM7... apps2sd moves not only the apk... but also the lib files to the sd card...
As long as you switch the 'network operator' to GSM only (in wireless and networks)... laidaxin's kang runs beautifully... much much faster than stock
Sent from my Filpside using Tapatalk
Link2SD has no problem moving the lib files in our stock rom... I'm no stranger to reflashing with RSD Lite, it's just tedious to get everything set back up JUST right, and this is exactly the kind of thing nandroid is great for.

Internal SD Card Paths

Hey guys,
Quick newbie question for you. I followed the procedure in this thread ([ROM][5.1.1][LMY47V] 21 May- Stock Flashable Rom/Factory Image) to a T and have 5.1.1 on the Nexus 4 but for some reason my internal SD card paths are all messed up. I couldn't use my camera to take a photo - it wouldn't save anywhere.
I used Terminal to run the restorecon -FR command for /data/media/0/* and then I restarted the phone and I could use my camera, so that was a good step.
Now I'm in WhatsApp and I can't see any media that people are sending me. The photos stay blurry. Is WhatsApp pointing to a directory that doesn't exist? How can I solve that? Or is my internal SD card ****ed?
I am using TWRP so if you have any solutions I can fully utilize that to fix the path errors or re-flash system img or whatever you think will work! My brother is trying to send me photos through WhatsApp and I can't see 'em!
Any help is appreciated!

You mean the flash_all.bat? Nah - I manually flashed as per the forum thread I linked to. I installed through TWRP, not fastboot. My Nexus 4 only connects as an AC source so I can't even get it communicating with my PC to unroot and flash stock.
So the phone is not recognized in OS X, window, or Linux? Tried different USB cables and USB ports?

Yeah I've pretty much tried everything to get it communicating with the computer again. I think it's a hardware issue - I had my screen replaced and I think some part of the battery assembly wasn't re-installed properly and thus communication ceased. I thought flashing to 5.1.1 would fix what could have been a 4.4.4 issue, as I had USB fast charge enabled with various kernels, but alas this was not to be.
Any ideas about the internal paths?
A screen replacement does involve moving the USB charging port to the new screen and it is possible that this part was damaged and vertical seems to be the case. I assume you don't have access to another phone to test the port.

Yeah no other phone to test the port. I just got an X Play and am using the same cable I was using with my Nexus 4 and communication is flawless - adb, fastboot, all the goodies. I thnk I'll need to take the Nexus to a shop or open it up myself.
Thanks for paying attention to this thread, audit.
Try opening the phone yourself as it is pretty easy but that choice is yours. Good luck!.
Hi Mike, just a hint... did you check the partition status on your device ? To check if it's a logical or hardware issue, here's a reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-play/general/partition-layout-t3196367
You can analyze yours with something like: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cls.partition
and eventually mount manually the missing mounts.

Great idea, dev. How do I go about manually mounting? Do I need to use Terminal or something similar?
Thanks for your reply.
mounts & partitions
@XxMikeMasterxX Yes! In terminal emulator.
Code:
su
cat /proc/mounts
- or -
mount
- or -
df
- or -
cat /proc/partitions
to list all partitions/devices/... a bit messy output
The mount command is also what you'll need after you find the problem.
It can mount a partition, remount read-write...in case it's a permission problem, or bind a folder to another, in case it's looking for a specific folder, but your system named it in a different way.
Not sure if this applies to your case...just an idea Did your partitions check return any anomaly ?

Not that I can see. I'm a bit of a noob with Terminal so I'll even have difficulty identifying the erroneous file paths. It's too bad my adb and fastboot don't work. Or else I'd just revert to stock and re-flash everything.

@dev>null Eeeek! Scared! I'll try the app and see what I can see. I guess from there it's a simple remount.
So hypothetically let's say that sdcard is mounted somewhere else by mistake and some app folders end up on the wrong partition/location, do I use a remount to remount that particular folder/location to the proper sdcard path?
Whoa I think I just got it.
@XxMikeMasterxX Exactly! There used to be a bug in CM with wrong sdcard mount point. Take a look at this, I'm sure it will address you to the right direction
And also give you examples for command syntax...

My brother tried the Terminal commands but after he entered su and tried the other 4 commands Term returned "nothing found" each time. What does that mean?
Also, it appears that he needs to remlunt his entire SD card somewhere. What's the folder? Root/sfcard
@XxMikeMasterxX Nexus 4 does not have a physical sdcard, so I guess it's just a missing symbolic link.
Try:
Code:
su
mount -o bind /data/media /sdcard
and see if Whatsapp can save the images now.

Thanks for your recommendations. Yet again, though, the command you provided didn't work. I tried to get him to bind different locations to sdcard but that didn't help either.
A funny thing he told me is that under Settings>Storage he can't open the Internal storage section. He said it just doesn't open.
It's almost like Android installed to a really weird location and isn't recognizing anything. I am really baffled.
I checked out the guide - the o ly problem.is that the phone doesn't connect as a USB device (broken link...battery maybe?) and as such he can't run the adb commands.
I wish it did connect USB though - I'd just have him return to stock and then this would all be erased. Any other ideas, dev? I really don't know what to do next... Thanks for your ideas so far - you've been a great help.
