Only decent stuff I know of. Brother has it too. Same question. But really seems like an ok phone.

Yeah thats where i got the rom to my ally. Very good stuff but no froyo. I will have to wait till verizon does the official update. For now velocity will do the trick. It is actually a very good rom. The stock 2.1 was making me go hulk on it.

I'm in the same boat as OP. I and my girlfriend both have the LG Ally...(she won't let me root hers yet..
That's beside the point. What I really want to know is why XDA doesn't have a forum for this phone. It's been successfully rooted (through adb and with one click method), it has a few descent roms, and a custom recovery. Android forums has a section for this phone, but I honestly like XDA better, simply because there are more devs here. Plus, I think with it's own forum here, the Ally could have a lot more potential, and a ton more support. I just wish I knew where to go to "officially" make this request.lol
Well really losing hope for froyo on my ally. Guess i will have to wait for an upgrade from verizon

Ok, we've seen things picking up for the NS4g and as development continues, I haven't seen this brought up. I love the Google slash screen on boot. It looks like heaven, but upon root a little lock appeared at the bottom, ruining my heaven with a opened gate. Anybody have some input on how to hide it? Give me a rough idea and ill try to make something flashable. Just a little inexperienced to just jump in.

Not possible.

it is possible. i did it to mine just to test it out, therefore relocking the bootloader. via fastboot, type in the command "fastboot oem lock"...
Yeah well next time you need to access the bootloader and you have to unlock it it's going to wipe your entire storage and device.

Yeah I thought just locking it too,but didn't for that reason. Sucks its not possible, I hate the lock.

I've been looking for the splashscreen folder (if there is one) in root explorer. Can't seem to locate it. I'd like to make some custom splashscreens.

People were looking for months to try to change it on the N1, with zero luck. It's not possible and completely inaccessible guys.

The .png for the lock must be somewhere, if you can decompile and replace that .png with a transparent one

This line is in /init.rc:

Nope, not really

I've been using the app called Foxfi from the play store which has been working great for me and that's without root! There is a free version that limits the amount of time you can use it or a paid version for like 7 bucks. A little costly but I've been happy so far. Only thing is once u go into the Foxfi app and turn on mobile hot spot u will get a pop up about needing to set up through verizon, DO NOT hit cancel, instead just push your home button and wha la!! You have working mobile hotspot! Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply! I'll try that for the time being... Although I'd like to see if there's a way to use the Built-In Verizon WiFi Tether app, as it's quite stable... Maybe I'll try android-wifi-tether too...

Not sure. But I noticed something in SQLite.
Settings storage
settings.db
Global
51 Wifi_watchdog_on 1
I'm thinking - hoping- that that is the entitlement/subscription check. Anyone willing to find out?
Changed it to 0... Still getting Use of this service requires a subscription...
I think the Wifi Watchdog setting is to alert you when a WiFi network is in range....
I've just been using the notifications panel toggle hack, then pressing the Home button when the error comes up: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2482867
Would be great to get rid of the notification though

Thanks for the heads up and trying it out. I'd change it back to 1, though. I did some searching and it seems that watchdog is a security measure to try and keep hackers from accessing your phone through wifi. So either what you were thinking is right or the info I have found is. But I'm no expert. So I don't know which it is. Lol. Either case is seems cruicial or important. So probably best to not mess with that.
I have the toggle going, also. I just figured it was worth a shot, at least. I just get a little annoyed having to press the Home button every time. But at least we have tether. I can deal with that until such time that they figure it out.
Thanks again for trying that!
I have actually investigated this a bit, and like new devices, the check is now built in Framework-res.apk. You need to decompile, edit the lines that call the command to check for subscription, and recompile. I have tried quite a few times but could never get the signing right and replace the file on the device without a bootloop, so I gave up. I think I have more specific information on like the 2nd page of the we have root thread.

It had been made into a flash able zip in safestrap, check the Original Development section. The instructions for the actual changes in Framework-res.apk are also stated there, they are the same as what I would have done.

There was a TetheringProvision.apk I had found on the s4 forums that worked perfectly with our phone (I only tried hotspot) it'd give you the error message saying it's not on your plan but one you hit ok it pulls up. I decompiled and did some editing and replaced the original and I have no clue where it came from...

There may be other ways of going about this but...
I am on sac's latest 4.2 t.w rom and dial ##3282# to access numerous data settings (Apn settings included). If you dial the code I mentioned above click edit, enter your msl ,scroll down to the bottom and select "more". Then navigate to "lte apn settings and that should get you to where you wanna be...i think, If I'm not mistaken you just wanted to know how to get to where the apn's are listed to cross reference it with yours to see if all is okay and go from there right
EDIT:I just re-read your post and am assuming you know how to get to your apn's so ignore the first part of my msg. The second half might be of use thought best of luck.
If I were in your shoes and had data connectivity issues i would try dialing ##72786# it'll re-provision your phone (reset your data profile to its defaults) and "possibly" correct your problem. none the least it will only take a few minutes and won't hurt any to do so IMO.
Best of luck, hope this helped you in some way bro. oh and I attached a link (below) to a screenshot of my apn's listed for you to cross reference with your own.

reactive your phone with sprint. New profile and update prl.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
So is that an adequate way to update prl and profile from an aosp ROM? I've been flashing back and forth to TW to update prl and profile. Can I just dial that and do the same? That would just be amazing!!!!!!
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I reactivated the phone and still only have the one APN. "APN2 LTE Internet n.ispsn" now i need to figure out how to add the rest of them.
I downgraded back to MF9 then went all the way back to Sacs v6 rom. Now I have 5 APN's. Now I am going to reflash sacs 5.1 first to see if they stick. Then, if they do, I will odin back up to MJA. I am hoping they stick.
so going back to Sacs 5.1 brings me back to just 1 APN. Can anyone verify they have all 5 on sacs 5.1 Rom?
I just read that there is a trick to getting the apn to stick. With your sprint sim card in download the apn settings shortcut, add to the home screen, click it, hit menu and select restore to defaults and it should read the apn from the sim card and give you a choice of a couple apns to activate.

That isnt doing anything for me either. Something changes in my phone going from 4.2 to 4.3. I have all 5 APN's with 4.2, whatever 4.3 i install, it gets knocked down to 1. Not sure if this is normal operation for 4.3 or not.
So will this update profile and prl successfully while on AOSP?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well, It doesnt matter what 4.3 rom I put on, stock,sacs,triforce...they all go to 1 APN on my phone. As soon as I reflash 4.2, all 5 APN's come back. I find this hard to believe it is limited to my phone. Something in 4.3 is causing this.
So will this delete apn's or update prl & profile?

I am not trying to be rude. But everytime we get rolling on the issue, it gets sidetracked to a different issue and never gets back on course. It starts to get a bit frustrating. Lets figure out the original question before we start on a seperate topic. Sorry you feel this way..
Anyone knows where the entry "APN2 EHRPD internet" and "APN2 LTE internet" come from? They are not in the stock apns-conf.xml file, but with stock ROM, they will appear in the APN list when you are with mvno (in my case it's Freedompop). I'm trying to figure this out so that I might be able to do some mod the non-stock ROM which don't usually has these two entries.
