I'm waiting for Note 4. Don't see many differences between Galaxy S4 and Note 2. Will stay at my Note 2 at least until september 2014 when there is a Note 4 come out.
Lol. No differences? It hasn't even been announced yet.

It will be almost the same as Galaxy S4. You did not notice that Galaxy S2 almost same as Galaxy Note? And Galaxy S3 almost the same thing as Galaxy Note 2. I can't find ANY uniqueness in Galaxy S4 for me.
The s3 and Note 2 are nowhere close to being the same. Maybe looks but inside are not the same.
I wonder if we will see something really amazing, exclusive to the note 3? Thinking back the note 2 had the air view first, any ideas? And does anyone think 2 or 3 different sizes? Very exciting
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Different sizes is going to be big flop concept. Just a couple of variants like s4 is enough, screen size should be same. What I am expecting that note 3 will have smoothness from note 2 and features from s4. In short, it will be a Job Finished of what it would have been in the s4.
You are right

Galaxy S3 and Note2 are the same, inside to. Same exynos 4212 q core chip. only big diference i se is S-pen and screen size. and only 1 gig ram in S3 3g version 2 gig in 4G verersion.
But one exiting thing with S4 4G (I9505) version is Snapdragon chipset, same as s4 google edition, and i thing i saw someone making dual boot google edition and samsung stock rom
I'm going to go out on a limb here and gamble, and say the Note 3 will have at least 2 sizes, and be different to the s4,if you think about it, the mega is not too different to the s4, so I can't see a big presentation showing this, could you see them showing a mega with only a few different things to the mega! Not me, this isn't going to be a apple presentation with only a few differences like the iPhone 3, then the 3s, then the iphone 4, then the 4s.

As long as they don't follow the idiots copying Apple's worst ideas like frigging integrated batteries, no expandable storage with small or very expensive internal memory and scrap metal cases I would buy a Mega-sized Note III the day it's available even if NOTHING but the display size changes from the Note II.
I don't think they will change the battery, and memory card slot, that would be suicidal, by the way the one thing that will stop me getting this phone, AND I mean the only reason is if it has the same flash player as the s4, awful experience, the note 2 has the best internet experience, even the HTC one, built in flash player is awful, I use a football streaming website and only the note 2 it plays smooth, no lag or stuttering, all from the default browser, not chrome, and I tested the mega as well, and same thing, so the s4, mega and HTC one, all have awful flash player experience.

Actually, I already lost count of the S4 variants. One comes out every week I do hope Samsung refrains from this on the Note 3. But I do agree that 2 variants is more than enough. Screen size will certainly increase. That, is almost certain. It would be suicidal not to when the competition will be releasing phablets with screens around 6".

Right on! :good: I played with the Huawei Ascend Mate a bit last weekend and loved its 6.1" screen. I also realized that moving from 5.5" to 5.7" will be irrelevant. I'll have to move to 6" to notice any real world difference.

I dont understand why ppl think the Note 3 will come in 3 sizes???? Why in the world would samsung do that? I dont think it makes any sense. I do however believe that it'll come in at least 2 variants, 1 snapdragon 800 version and 1 exynos 5 octa 2nd gen version. I also think that it'll be either a 5.7 inch or 5.9 inch display but most likely 5.7 inch due to all the latest rumors. Samsung needs to leave some room for future notes. If they release a note 6.4 like the Z ultra, next year it'll have to be bigger otherwise it'll be a downgrade in size. Bigger than 6.4 inch is a tablet period so 5.7-5.9 inch is pretty cool.
All the note 3 needs to do ( in my opinion) to be a worthy upgrade to the best mobile device ever ( note 2 of course) is to have a flawless performance and even more cooler and useful tricks with the Spen, have a 1000% lag free experience ( not like the S4 when it launched), slimmer and have less bezel all around with amazing battery life. I also HOPE that samsung ditches the stupid features like smart pause and smart scroll that are honestly gimmicky ( who really scrolls up and down a web page with their eyes...) and give us more very useful features like multi-window. Last but not least, please Samsung, ditch the S4, S4 mini, galaxy mega 6.3 design and introduce us to something more exciting, different and less predictable.
Just need to say that the scrolling the website, is not a gimmick, you will use it and not even realise after a while,
It's a shame that there is so much space wasted on the bezel, I would prefer Samsung on the home button, than above, and also it would be mad for them not to release a 6" size, version, could we see a notification home button like the G pro, phone,

90 % of the time it did. But whats the point? my fingers are more accurate and faster then me looking up and down the page. Its a cool gimmick to show to friends...thats about it.

The Note 2 has 2 gigabytes of ram, compared to the 1gigabyte of s3, so its more future proof. The screen is also bigger and better.
Question is, is it worth it? Or is it too big for a phone?
Please don't ever say futureproof again because you can not simply 'futureproof' something
My SIII uses MAX 800mbs
The international version comes with 2GBs of RAM so maybe you could swap yours out for one of those
If you're looking for a bigger screen though then yes the Note is worth it
Sent from my GT-I9305T using xda app-developers app
lol @ futureproof
i keep the same phone for no more than 5-6 months. i just can't imagine sticking with the same for any longer than that. and here is my reasoning:
if you get a new phone and then sell it 5-6 months later (before the next iteration of the phone comes out) then you will sell it at 80% of the original price. however if you keep it for 12 months (and the new phone comes out) and you try to sell it you'll be able to get only 50% of what you paid for the phone. so I always change phones every 5-6 months. so thats how I stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest. so basically i'm 'renting' the phone for $100 for 6 months.. which is not bad at all. in fact that's actually CHEAPER if you think about it.
Umm both s3's that I've used on AT&T have 2 gigs of ram so I don't know who told you that information. If you have a s3 wait for jelly bean because it is essentially the same phone besides jelly bean features and the s-pen. Don't get my wrong, the note 2 is an amazing phone. I had the note 1 and now I'm on an international note 2. The battery life is the big selling point for me, but it is ALOT faster than the note 1 or the s3.
Honestly only you can answer that question.
The Note II has many useful features you have to decide if they are worth the price of admission. If I had an upgrade to use I wouldn't hesitate to pickup the note even if I has an S3. But as you have an S3, a relatively new device, I assume you would have to pay full AT&T price. If that's the case I'm not sure I would be willing to drop $650 for a new Note II if I already had an S3. But I'm on a very tight budget at the moment you may be in a different situation.
I have an upgrade and plan to use it to pick up a Galaxy Note II Friday.
From my perspective yes.
I changed and am very happy.
More ram, insane battery, faster, screen is better with polarized glasses.
Spen, multi view.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
So I just switched from the S3 to the N2.
My reason, the styles and bigger screen (my target resolution to avoid eyestrain when using RDP is 250dpi N2 is a better resolution than the S3)
As for hardware specks I was more than happy with the S3, All I want is a good battery and the ability to use the phone all-day: GPS, note taking, Recording minutes, Camera, editing photos, playing podcasts, and web browsing. (if I get a day's use out of it I'll be happy.)
The S3 battery did restrict my ability to use it to its full potential. I'll comment on the Note2 after I have used it for a month.
I don't know why people are saying the note 2 has more ram than the s3 because the s3 and note 2 both have 2 gigs of ram... Internal - 16 GB storage, 2 GB RAM

i came from int S3 like yours & i'm not looking back
the battery is just awesome with all the screen estate
I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to a 1GB phone. Switching through apps works like it should on the Note 2. With that said, it still manages to fill it up rather quickly. Visit enough web pages and open enough apps, it offloads the app from the memory. I think 4GB will be perfect, for today. But probably 4GB won't be enough for 2 years from now when it is available. Such is life.
But I love 2GB ram on this phone. Along with the superb battery, big screen, S Pen (just the ability to write notes down as quickly as you can do with a pen and paper), and airview, I think it is a worth upgrade and the hassle of having to sell a used Galaxy, and taking a hit on some costs.

Rumblings from Samsung indicate the S4 will be released by March 2013. That's a short 10 months after the S3 release... I don't have the link right now, can find it if needed...
In my opinion the Note's screen is too big for a functional phone. I'm not a fan of the "inbetweener" sizes... Two small for a tablet, too big for a phone. However, it's all about preference and usage.

I come from the Galaxy S3 and was a little afraid for the big Note2.But now afther a few days i not like the S3 anymore and i'am very happy with the new note.
Coming from the s3, I am VERY happy with the choice of the upgrade. The screen is nicer to look at, colors are more vibrant. I personally like the screen size, just about perfect for me. I will most likely skip the S4, no way I want to go smaller now. I will hold my next upgrade for the Note 3...love it!
The Note 2 isn't THAT big. I thought it would be a lot larger. So little bezel and the width of the phone makes it very practical.

I came from a GS3. So I've owned the Note 2 for for about 5 days and here's is how I feel: It is absolutely a BEAST. Gorgeous phone. HOWEVER, after holding my brothers S3, I feel like going back to the S3 because it seems SO small and ALL OF A SUDDEN I can touch all 4 corners of the screen! I swear I was not able to to that BEFORE I had tried the Note II. Now S3 feels like the perfect size phone. I feel terrible that I'm even thinking about getting rid of the Note II but the feel of the S3 in my hands now is just way too tempting. I previously had the pebble blue, but I'm thinking of buying the brown SGS3. Anybody else's thoughts on this? How do you feel after looking at S3 after trying Note 2? Do you feel your fingers have gotten longer?

I've had my Note 2 for 40 days now. The size is a minor annoyance compared to all the features gained over a S3. Split screen. AirView for web browsing. Just always having a device where I can take it out of my pocket and start writing is irreplaceable. Sure, you can take out a S3, unlock it, open a writing app, then start typing. But that's not like taking out the S Pen and writing just like you had a pad and paper. I think 9 out of 10 times I would just end up choosing to not write things down unless it was something really important. It is true the S3 does look small, but that is also the reason why I would prefer the Note 2. I don't want the smaller phone.

I was going to get a Nexus 4, until I realised that it didn't really improve on any area of the Galaxy Nexus that really mattered to me (storage space, battery life, camera quality etc).
It was either the Note 2 or HTC One X+ for me, but with the Note I felt I could get rid of my N7 which I also hardly used to help fund the Note 2.
I do prefer Vanilla Android but I never had THAT much of a problem with TouchWiz on the S2.
There is no comparison. For me personally the next gen smartphone move logically is the Note 2 and all the other size factor phablets from other oems which come after it.
Lets face it. The battery life technology isnt growing at an exponential rate like the other hardware of the phone. Its just oure physics. Bigger battery longer battery life. Bigger thr phone, bigger the possibility of fitting a bigger battery.
Note II's INSANE battery life alone is a worthy upgrade over any snartphone experience right now. Plus the new non pentile 5.5inch 720p samoled screen is another big factor
For me like I said, "phablet" is the next logical step in the smartphone era

No I'm not going back to a smaller size anytime soon. However my son just yesterday got a SIII and after playing with it a bit I can honestly say that it's perfect for someone wanting a normal sized device.
this is why i have tyhe best of both worlds i actually own them bought and with the new s3 rom leak it's even better..i'm overwhelmed with the processing power of the responsiveness of the beasts
I've had it for a while now and all I can say is that I'd get the S3 if I hated the size. My partner has the S3 and loves it but envies my note 2. They're similar in function, but the larger screen is a must for me. As is the pen. So it's a no brainer for me. But i'm sure for others its a deal breaker. I personally love the note 2. Also, the 1gb ram in the international s3 sucks. I mean it's fine, but it has redraws and such, and multitasking isn't as fluid. My.02ยข

Oh god, please tell me why? I don't see any reasons now: my note is still snappy (thanks to jb leaks), there are no games, that aren't playable (my main concern for every phone is shadowgun dead zone and it runs smoothly).
BUT with note I still have a monster battery, monster display and monster storage.
Really, nexus 4 is a nice phone. But I can't find any reasons to change galaxy note, HTC one x, s3 or even galaxy nexus to nexus 4. I mean, if you are looking for a new phone, go and grab it, if you already have one, just pass it

Ok here are my reasons:
1) nexus 4 uses gorilla glass 2. Search a bit about it. It is actually thinner and when you swipe your finger on screen, because of the elimination of the extra layer, you feel so nice and it is like touching the icon by your finger. You should try to find out what I mean.
2) 2 GB ram and quad core cpu is great. You think your note is monster now but after working with nexus 4 you will change your opinion. Just i.e. I feel flying when I use chrome compared to note.
3) battery is great here. Near 6 hr screen on time under super heavy use. Wifi on all the time, music, surfing, game etc.
4) Most recent upgrades of android. This one worth much more than anything. Imagine that in May we are gonna get key lime pie 5.0 and you are still on 4.1
How much more do you need?
By the way ips is much better than amoled. With amoled and the over saturation your eyes get tired after a while but with ips no !

Can you tell us the reason why you're coming in the Galaxy Note section to tell to Note users (ie peoples who choosed to buy a Note) to buy another mobile ?
Seriously, go touch yourself in the N4 section, if Note users want to trade their mobile for a N4 or anything elses, i guess they'll be smart enough to go in the right section.
And my 2 cents, N4 sucks for me, no need of the hardware and i prefer a bigger screen + Spen.

Nexus 4 is a great phone. No one will deny that, but there is something many of the users here would agree with me on. And to let you see why, then i'm gonna answer all of your points here.
1. Samsung Galaxy Note II also use Gorilla Glass 2.
2. Samsung Galaxy Note II also have 2 GB RAM and a good Quad-core CPU.
3. The battery is much better on the Galaxy Note II.
4. Samsung Galaxy Note II also gets the latest releases thanks to XDA-Developers.
So, my question is then, why should anyone go from a Galaxy Note to a Nexus 4 instead of a Galaxy Note II?
And don't get me started on the multiview windows functionality that is actually a reason alone on why we Note users choose a phone like a Note over anything else.
Because if you sell your note and add 30 $ or euro more you can get a perfect phone but for note 2 you should pay around 150 euro more.
Besides, lets face it, google support is better or xda? Xda without source code can not do anything ! And samsung sucks at releasing source codes !

Something all these Galaxy Note wanabe's seem blind to is the s-pen ; it's not just about a larger than usual phone screen, but you can write on it...properly..with a pen...detailed stuff, useful stuff. If all you want is bigger Angry Birds then I'm sure one of the other 5" + screens are great but the Note is successful because it serves all the creatives out here who are not happy drawing with a fat finger. Maybe it's just me :cyclops:

Non removable battery is a deal breaker. Can you replace the battery without breaking something ?

Guys I had note for one year and liked it a lot but I just got my nexus 4 and sold my note. They have somehow almost the same price but guys I gotta tell you nexus 4 is a wonderful device and I just love it.
I really advice you to sell your note and buy this thing.
By the way smaller screen is even better and surprisingly somehow a relief, seriously !
Battery life is great great great ! I just felt to share my experience with you
Kudos

I had my Note for 15 months and LOVED it, best smartphone in the world BY FAR. Actually, I would say the ONLY REAL smartphone in the world as it was the only one actually USABLE.
I just upgraded to a Note II which is improved in literally *everything* but in the most important spec (display dimensions) and the least important one (looks. I liked much better the Note I).
The Note II has a smaller display in its shorter side and that's my ONLY gripe with it, I hate the fact that they went with the 16:9 aspect ratio and the fact that 5.5" 16:9 means a NARROWER display and that's why I initially hold off upgrading but after seeing IRL what 2GB of RAM really mean I instantly bought the Note II and sold the Note. BEST UPGRADE EVER (save for the stupid display aspect ratio...).
The Nexus 4? It's an Apple-like P.O.S. which with its MORONIC non-removable battery, ridicolously insufficient non-expandable internal memory and small display is totally *useless* and *worthless* to me.
a device with at least large screen (>5inch), s-pen, tablet rom (with all features Notes is offering), nice design (quare, not s3-like) would get my consideration, a bit, otherwise none will be comparable with the incredble Note
the sucking hardware does not matter, at least IMO, even a Nexus 40 will be said like this OP when the Nexus 41 comes, you should know how to use your device, or you will sell your Nexus 40 soon for a Nexus 41
it is crazily rediculous for these words in Note area
there is no way on this earth you could convince me to buy LG hardware.
Also No micro SD = deal breaker.
Thanks for your expression but No thanks.
Nexus 4 is not 5.3 inch. It does not have SPen. No multi-windows. The display does not show true black. Blurry scroll--Amoled screen refreshes so much faster than lcd. Those are the reasons I stick to my beloved Note until Note 3.

Not a big deal at all, 5 minutes.
As a current Note I owner I've tested N4 for 2 full days. I can only say 2 good things about it: the uber sexy body and smoothness. Apart from it - no SD card and a worse camera are a no-go. Before testing it, I used CM10.1 on my Note but after a month or so I decided I was missing Samsung's touch too much (I like the additions and a bit nicer GUI). So I installed RR ICS V12 and completely happy now.
I also realized that Note is too big for me - the one-handed operations feel like on the edge of dropping it all the time! So I skipped Note2 and waiting for S4 now.
I totally get what you all are saying. I was very doubtful too, especially about screen size but now I am sure that for a phone it should definitely be below 5 inch. Now I am sure that the concept of phablet is crazy.
I will get a tablet soon and I think this is right. Big size of note 1 was really annoying for me.
About note 2, I agree that it is way better than note 1 and the reduce in its width was a clever action. But guys! Direct update from google is something that no one can overlook it.
S pen had no use for me at all and I am sure if someone really use s pen he or she should get note 10.1 or note 8 not this because it is way too small for using a pen on

I have the opportunity to upgrade to the S4 and preorder on Verizon tomorrow. Not sure if I should. I know the Note 3 will be out in 8 months or so and have the 8 core processor and be the new flagship phone. I kinda feel lije I want something new right now though. Need someone to sway me....Help!
It comes down to new flagship device now, or new flagship device later. Obviously if you wait, you'll have the Note 3 which will almost assuredly be a better Galaxy S4. On the other hand, shortly after that, the Galaxy S5 or whatever will be out and you'll have a superior device to the Note 3. Really it comes down to if you upgrade multiple times a year, if you don't mind waiting for something better and using that, or if you just want to get the best you can when it arrives and stick with it for awhile.
All S4 features will come to Note 2 eventually (all but IR Blaster).
I would wait for Note 3 or even Note 4. I'm taking the aproach to buy once every 2 Galaxy devices.
My first was an S2 and I'll be getting the S4 soon, then the S6 and so on.
If you like the Note flagship I would advise you to stick with it and do the same.
Unless you have money to spare and like to have the latest flagship always. That's up to you.
only reason i didn't get the note 2 was resolution, but i would rather have the smaller 5 inch 1080 screen than 720 on a rather larger phone.

I bet you're right. I have an S3 that I gave up for the Note 2 and when I grab the S3 it feels so small. I realize you really can't replace a Note with anything but a Note. Now that the Mega devices are certain, it's safe to say the Note 3 will remain 5.5" since 5.8 and 6.3 is Mega. I was afraid when N3 talk was bigger. If the S4 features makes its way to N2, I would/could be content. I really dont care about IR Blaster...I use harmony remotes.
Thank you guys
S4 is what I will recommend you. I know you may want to probably wait for note 3 but again you won't have that great resolution of which the critics are talking about. Check out the reviews everywhere.. They are calling it the supernova... If you wait for another 8 months then again you will think that I should wait for S5 which will be due in next 4 months from then.. Don't think too much. Go for s4 and you shall never regret it

The Note 3 will most likely have the same 1080p screen as the S4.
I hope they do what they did with the Note 3 that they did with the S4 in that the screen is improved and larger but the physical size of the phone does not increase. They just reduce the bezel area to get a larger screen size in the same or slightly smaller physical body. I would imagine that other physical improvements will be made with the Note 3 that will only improve the experience. S4 looks awesome but if they take what they have done with the S4 and incorporate it into the Note 3 it really will be the phone to have. Just my thoughts and why I'll be passing on the S4 and staying with the Note 2 until something dramatically better comes out.
Lots of fingers are pointing to the note 3 going 6+ inches. Seems to be getting a bit out of control at that point.

I would say no. I think overall the S4 is slightly better but its definitely not worth the extra money from a note 2, a device that is absolutely phenomenal.

S4 is an upgrade to S3, not the Note II. Note line targets power users who need more screen real estate and battery juice, unlike S4. I didn't go for a Note 2 based on its processor etc. alone, but the whole package. So for me, going for an S4 (or HTC One) is actually a downgrade, personally.
PS, interesting comparison here, despite not being the most objective:

I recently had to decided this too I think note 2 will be too big for practical use, s4 is a nice happy medium in my opinion

Old thread back again, anyway. I have used all the galaxy series, currently I have note 2 which is more than enough for me. Still I will upgrade because of my dirty habit of upgrading the gadgets. I will have problems in adjusting hands 5.5 to 5 inches, but I will get used to it. S4 is good enough to play for next 6 months until note 3 arrives. I am in bit of confusion for note 3. For me 5.5 inch is just more than enough, but 6 inch or 6.3 inch is a deal breaker for me. It will be too big.

Would you say note 2 is too big for every day use e.g commuting one hand use ? Would be great to have ur opinion having used both 5inch and 5.5
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
obviously note 2 is not great for one handed use. You could theoretically use it with the one handed mode, but it is struggle, especially when you switch between small and large keyboard layouts. It's a fair trade-off for me though, pros by far outweigh the cons, and you get used to the screen fast.

I won't say its toooo big, but yeah its big. Good that I have big hands too, it only sometimes gets irritating but most of the time, its fine, manageable in hands and pocket. For me its the limit, above that would not be a wise decision.
Most of the new gimmicks Sammy have put together for s4 will eventually make its way to note 2. Some leaks about flagship devices of other oems coming in q3 points to s4 getting outdated sooner than one thinks so I'd recommend to wait for note 3

I thought the Note 2 was big until I started using it. It took some time to get used to one-handed use, but it comes. I have small hands. There are some things that require to use two hands where it would be one on most phones. For instance, when I am checking email. If I am in a message and wanna go back to inbox. The back arrow is small in the top left corner. My thumb just wont make it. That's the one I constantly struggle with. Other than that, I love the N2 size. I will never go any bigger. Not even in the slightest.
I know this is an old thread, came across is in Google. But let me chime in here, I am in the same boat, I have the Note 2 but I also have an iPad Mini. I am thinking, do I need a tablet and a phablet?

I'm just curious as to if I should or not, I've gotten a mixed bag of comments at the moment and I'm not 100% sure if I should. The S4 itself is brand new and I've had my Note 2 for about 3 months now.
No,,,stivk to your note 2 and wait for note 3 which probably will be released in September...

Yes. .swap it for s4... then sell s4... buy a new note 2 for cheap and make some money
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
It's kinda hard to suggest because I had a choice between the two. Coming from a s3 I knew that I wanted a bigger screen and the best stylus available.
The s4 has features that are incredible but soon the note 3 will be here and you will see nothing but note 3 talks and text all over the internet. There will be no more talking about the s4 since it will be outdated.
Having a note 2 now just prepares for the note 3 or maybe I wait for the note 4!.
Either way the bigger screen and pen are features I need over some special apps

And do the funky ostrich dance.

I have the Note 2 and my wife has the s4...i use both on a daily basis and if you have the note2 already then stick with it.
if you really dont like the size of the note2 then go s4 otherwise there isnt a huge difference.

Should? No. Would? Depends on your preference. What do you want? Why you wanna switch?
I'm selling my Note 2, and getting the S4 this week, the only reason is SIZE. I tried to get comfortable with the size, tried my best, nah, it is not within my limit, so I gotta sell it, as my limitation is within ~ 5 inches.
But if you're comfortable with the size then I see no point in getting the S4 over N2. Extra CPU core and all that sh!t are for kids. Unless Android changes its interpreter from JVM to elsewhere the ecosystem will be same, that is laggy, doesn't matter how many cores are backing it up, or of what architecture.
And no need to mention you'll miss the beautiful and handful features of S Pen, a big screen and last but not the least a beefy battery backup.
Now think and do what's needful.

I don't know what this hype with the S4 is all about.
I mean, it's like a mistake for Samsung.
It's like, the Note 2 is the upgrade of the S4 yet it gets faster and better support.

I got an S4 as a free upgrade from EE in the UK, but within less than a month I was back to the Note 2. The main thing I missed was the battery life, it really wasn't great on the S4. The screen was beautiful, and I personally loved the temperature and humidity sensor, plus the IR blaster, but I reckon they'll be on the Note 3 whenever it appears as well. The S4 also got too hot all the time, and it was much, much slower to take pictures that didn't look much better than the Note's, and just in general felt slower and laggier when just trying to get stuff done. Sure, for CPU intensive tasks it smoked the Note, but for 95% of daily stuff it simply feels slower, probably as a result of having so many more pixels to push.
Switch Note for S4, sell S4, stick a bit with an old phone and buy the N3 for + 50-100$

I can relate totally to your experience. I've got both phones at the moment and I never leave home with the s4. I'll probably sell it shortly. The s4 gets hot all the time, sometimes I could feel it burning a hole in my pocket and I'm sure this is related to the relatively poor battery life. S4 I must charge every evening, note 2 will last well into the next day.
Besides that the s4 feels slightly slower. It shouldn't but I think Samsung have just crammed too much bloat into the phone this time around. Sure it's faster on paper but you just won't notice any difference in normal usage.
The camera takes better photos in certain conditions but it's mostly due to the software not the 13mp. Even then the software now takes longer to process the image so there is a definite trade off.
S4 screen looks sightly nicer but the difference is minimal and the Note 2 is still much easier to do stuff with because the screen is physically larger.
