Is it somehow possible to connect my N7 via USB and get it? I tried making my pc a wifi hotspot.. things got hot really fast, and this is already a hot room.

Thanks for the help. Is there a way to get 4G to work with that? I remember seeing a thread about fixing USB tethering but I cant seem to find it..
I'm currently using that USB Tethering Fix and it works great...
Actually this was posted from a laptop tethered to my phone, with a USB cable, one limitation as far as I know is that USB tethering doesn't seem to work with 4G, it causes 4G to disconnect, at least on the ROM that I'm running. So I'm looking for a fix for that, but it works great on 3G. I use Wireless Tether for 4G.
I'm running Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo
If 4G doesn't work, I'd rather use EasyTether. A bit more nuisance and if you want https you have to buy it, but I like getting 5Mb download in my office where otherwise 16 of us have to all share a single 1.5Mb connection.
wired tether is the king. it sneaks the internets straight from the sky to my phone to my computer. wireless tether and pda.net gets the internets from the sky and brags about it to my phone, gets whupped, and ends up all slow. android wired tether is cool with my phone, but my phone will only let it peddle the three gs to my computer. my phone wants to keep the four gs to itself, unless you slip $30 to its boss for that really hot stuff.

Help Wirelessly Providing Internet to Wireless Router, to Client PCs

its the start of a new year and im trying to get rid of/pay off bills i dont need.
Internet/cable/landline is one of them. Comcast has just gotten too expensive for my needs right now, so i shut it all off. So i'll be taking advantage of the internet im already paying for with sprint.. even though its 3g, i'll be going cold turkey by just internet browsing/paying bills/downloading small files, until 4G gets here.
So what i want to do is.. connect my phone wirelessly to my wireless linksys(ddwrt) router, and have computers in the house ethernet cabled to the wireless router. I cant afford wireless adapters right now, so the already installed ethernet connections will have to work.
Another thing im wondering, since the client pcs will be connecting to the router instead of all-at-once connected to the phone will it cut down on the heat the phone produces.. im hopeful. If i have to i can put the phone on a block of aluminum. lol.
So anyone with experience with ddwrt, linksys, and wirelessly using the phone as a modem-to-router, please educate me. Running myn rls 5.
Your going to run into a major problem here, your phone won't wirelessly talk to the router. You could have a computer act as a bridge, as long as that computer was on and had wireless.
crap.. im not looking to have my main computer on 24/7 just to provide access to the other computers.. sounds like im kinda stuck unless i put wireless adapters into all the computers, then tether straight to the phone???
gahhh..
yes it would. there are many threads about this on the dd-wrt forums. if you want to do wired tether to the router it would have to be one with the usb port.

Using Evo 4G with Zoom 4501 Router can you?

Hello all,
Here is my deal and hopefully someone can help.. I have an Evo 4g.. currently I do not have internet in my home (cable started getting to pricey in my area) and have rooted my phone and have been using the wifi tether app. However, I want to also share connection with other devices throughout my home, ie, 2 laptops, 1 desktop, 1 xbox360 so I purchased this Zoom 4501 wireless N router that works with 3G/4G, wifi, cable etc..
Now, I was able to connect my phone to the usb port on the router, go through the setup wizard and and was able to actually get the router up and running however, the only way to do it is by turning on the usb tether option in the settings menu.. it only works on 3G and not 4G.. when I turn on the 4G option, it says that I do have an account with sprint.. is there any other way around this? If anyone can help, let me know thanks!

C'mon man.. I'm looking for a legit solution... besides... theirs is encrypted....
Just get a wireless extender and connect all the devices to that.
EVO)))))))))Wireless extender ))))))))all your devices(no device limit) + ethernet.
http://3gstore.com/product/1813_pepwave-surf-mini-200.html I use it with my sprint mifi because I connect more than 9 devices when I'm at work. (grandfathered unlimited plan ) and the mifi only allows for 5
Hey thanks.. just got it to work, just purchased this... http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0354515
seems to work pretty well... thanks for the info guys...
Just make sure only the router is connected to the evo with encryption, everything else will be handled by the repeater
Buy a router that you can put tomatousb firmware on it. Then configure the wireless as wireless bridge or client to the evo's wireless tether. Works great for me when the times my internet is down.

Connect Nexus 7 to laptop's wifi?

Tried finding the answer, not sure if I'm looking correctly. I'm dorming at school next month, wondering if this would be possible:
Connect laptop to hard wired ethernet connection, turn on laptop's wifi, and connect the Nexus 7 to the laptop's wifi. I think this is ad-hoc but I'm not sure exactly. Would this be possible? Would suck if not, kinda screwed in using the tablet then :-( . Thanks for the help
Your laptop (I'm assuming it's a Windows laptop?) is only capable of creating an ad-hoc wireless network. You could try this guide if you're unable to connect to an ad-hoc network from your tablet, although I don't have my N7 yet so I can't verify if it works or not.
Alternatively, if your laptop has Bluetooth, you may be able to create a Bluetooth shared network connection. Once again, just an idea - I have no idea if this is possible.

For @ $20 you can get a wifi router. Why not get one and have wireless internet for your laptop and tablet?
BTW- Don't worry about setting it up. You'll be at college--there will be hundreds of nerds itching to help set up your network...

sorry, forgot to add that info. Yes, Windows 7 laptop. It also has bluetooth. I'm pretty good with computers, I just never did this before. Supposedly school has wifi in the dorms, but since it's been years since I've dormed, I'm assuming it's going to be crap due to the make up of the buildings. I wanted to use it in my room. They do say I can bring a wireless router of my own, but I just wanted to cover worst case scenarios.

Reverse Tether + Re Tether = How do I do it?

Basically I want to share my PC's internet to my Android phone via USB and then share the Android's internet to other WiFi enbled appliances via Android's WiFi as a hotspot.
PC Internet >>>--[USB]---> Android phone >>>--[WiFi Hotspot]--> WiFi clients
I progressed upto Reverse WiFi Tether where I can share my PC internet on my Android phone using USB connection but then enabling the WiFi hotspot on the Android phone doesn't share this internet to other WiFi clients (although the hotspot works and client's can connect, but no internet access/data transfer).
For those wondering why would I dig a pond to fill it;
a. I don't have WiFi (trans)receiver on my PC;
b. My Android phone doesn't have a RJ45 port;
For those even wondering: I don't want to buy a WiFi (trans)receiver for my PC either.

I'm not sure how to go about doing that, it might be cheaper just to go buy a cheap wireless router.
Any idea how to do the opposite? I want to use my phone to connect to a wireless network and send the network connection back to my computer that doesn't have WI-fi.
It might just be cheaper to buy a wifi card for your computer.

It just has an on board RJ45 Network connection. The problem that I'm running into is I want to use it to stream movies onto my TV in the living room, but my router is located in the kitchen and the wife has told me I'm not allowed to run a network cable across her house

On a train for another hour at least. I will reply after I get to the office. Pretty sure Cisco/Linksys makes a box that gives you wifi access via RJ45. Have one and I know it works. Just not sure of vendor and model.

Sorry - long day. Try a Linksys wireless bridge. I have the WET610N. Newer models on their website.
