Camera issue: multiple picture taken but same image saved instead - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi have a big issue with my galaxy S4 camera.
Sometimes when taking several pictures one after the other (not in burst mode) the picture saved are actually not the one taken.
When I go to the gallery I see the same identical image for all of them, the strange thing is that when I have this image open and I look at the small preview on the bottom, I see that the preview actually show the real picture I took.
I attached a screenshot for a better understanding (the black square is for privacy).
This is really disappointing for me, when I take several picture of my son trying to capture this unique moment... and than you just discover your phone saved the save image for all of them....
Googling around I didn't found anything about this issue so I decided to post it here.
What I really hope is that this picture are not lost for ever and I can recover them.
Thanks

In case someone is interested in what kind of files are produced by the camera, you can find a sample here:

Cannot open it with anything. Interesting...

[Q] How to fix screen resolution?

Hi everyone, this is my first post, I'm not sure if it's been posted yet. I'm a photographer and I do not use the camera on my HD2 because I just import my photos to the phone so I can display samples of my work to potential clients. The sharpness of my photos when displayed on the device was the main driving point for me purchasing this phone. One thing I noticed however, since flashing my photo to Windows Phone 7, my pictures are not sharp at all anymore. I just loaded a picture on to my friend's WinMo 6.5 HD2, and there is a drastic difference. I've seen posts about the camera taking blurry pictures, but I haven't seen any that just indicated general blurriness on the screen. Is there a fix for this or will I have to give up my WP7?
That's odd, my transferred pix are excellent, maybe you should reload WP7? Not much help I'm sorry but it doesn't take long to reinstall...
what res are the pictures?
I had the same problem but it seemed to only happen with photos that I transferred to the phone. I never found a fix, though I do not think it is a resolution problem with WP7. The issue might exist in the file transfer itself; perhaps a Zune issue? Anyway, I never found a solution so I'm back on 6.5.
Try this:
In the Zune software, go to
Settings > Phone > Pictures and Video
and set "Image Quality" to "Original"
I tried the settings in Zune and those settings were already selected. The resolution is 3744 x 5616, but it doesn't matter the photo size, they all still aren't crisp as they were before.
try changing them to 1024x1024, maybe wp7 is lowering them automatically because of how large they are
even the ones i had at 950 are blurry, no matter what photo I load into it...same result.
**Update**
Since my last post, I have flashed back to 6.5, loaded some photos on. Image resolution is far superior. Loaded WP7 back on, [a different ROM], and still photos are still not a sharp. Is it possible that the photos do not render as well in WP7 as they did in 6.5?
strange, i use both zune for pc and windows phone connector for mac to transfer my 12mp photos from my cannon450d and they are reasonably sharp for a screen with limited pixels.
Even my photos from facebook look reasonably good (not much difference on the small screen to be honest)
Yeah for me, whether it's from my Canon 5D Mark II, or my 50D, same problem. At this point, I just won't load any photos on the device! It sucks because my main reason for purchasing this phone was photos, and also that ability to put different ROMS on it.

Click to collapse
Email a photo to yourself, and save it on the phone. See it works that way.
It may be that the stock wp7 picture viewer doesn't display them as sharp. Maybe you can find another photo viewing app in app store and see if that makes any difference.

Google Edition stock Camera Issues ... :(

Hi there,
I have been experiencing some issues on Google Edition 4.2.2 camera app.
I tried 4.3 camera apk and issues are still there...
When I take a picture directly from Whatsapp a preview picture with the "Yes" and "Cancel" marks is shown. The thing is that the preview picture does not match the taken picture!!! It is slightly different, there is a delay between pictures.
Then I say...."Oh, ok, that picture is good, attach it" and then whatsapp sends a different picture
I thought that it was a Whatsapp issue...but the thing is that when I take a picture directly from Camera apk, a little "preview" of the picture is shown on upper right corner. And that preview is NOT the taken picture.
Anybody else ?
Nobody else experiencing this?
Please can anybody take a photo from Whatsapp app and then send it to somebody? And please pay attention if preview image is the same that sent image.
Thanks!!
Same problem here, but in stock rom 4.2.2
When I take a picture (when i tried it was without flash, maybe the problem is there because the exposure time or something) i get a preview that doesn't match the actual picture stored in the gallery, it's like the real capture is being taken after the preview. It's very noticeable when the target is moving...
Anyone?

Selective focus confusion.

Dear All S5 Users,
Hope you are enjoying S5 and exploring it's everything. While doing the same, I faced some complexity especially in Selective focus option. It's a really good option to have the same in mobile camera. I tried to shot some pictures through Selective focus option. But it seems to me that it's not guaranteed that picture will be shot as expected. For instance, I shot a picture of mine friend. I noticed when there's multiple object in viewfinder, picture not captured in Selective focus mode (I also tapped to focus and also locked the focus). Picture will be captured but a message will be appear mentioning that "Picture saved but unable to apply focus contrast effect, Subject not detected.". After having lots of try I managed to shot only 3 pictures in selective focus mode.
I might be doing wrong that's why picture is not capturing in selective focus mode. If anyone knows how to successfully capture shot in selective focus, please let me know. I am really interested to know how to use it.
You need an object within 50 cm and background should be 150cm behind the object for the best results. I think the results are best when you have only 1 object close (or a cluster of objects close - but nothing fragmented all over the place).
I actually had the same problem today. But it suddenly worked when I tryed to take a photo with the phone "standing".. Then it worked!

Motion Photo looks great . . . then half of the still image goes gray.

I have a motion photo that I took of my son and a minor league ballplayer friend of his. The thumbnail image looks great. When I click to view the full size image on my phone, it too looks good for about a second, then exactly half of the image goes gray. When I view the motion photo it too looks good all the way through until it ends. Then, a second later, half the image goes gray exactly as before.
I've tried multiple viewers with the same result. I moved it to my Windows PC and tried to view it. Depending on the application it either opens half gray as a still photo or won't open at all.
I can freeze the motion photo and capture a screenshot, but the quality isn't as good as the photo would be. So far I haven't been able to find any mention of this specific problem online - seen some references to photos being corrupted and showing half gray or black, but not motion photos.
Any suggestions? Your assistance is appreciated.
