Help needed in my App - Java for Android App Development

Hello,
I am trying to make an application which shows a users twitter tweets in a list view.
It is a notification app based on twitter i.e., tweets are downloaded and shown as a list view. I have read about the twitter 1.1api and twitter4j library. I am having trouble using them.
Can somebody throw some light on how to implement this please.
Thanks
Pradeep

[APP][UPDATE]SMS INVITE[v0.2.11.30738]

This app is coming along great! I want to extend a HUGE thanks to everyone that has provided feedback on various issues so far.
INFO
Here's some basic info on the app for those who haven't had a chance to check out v0.1.0.0
The app is designed to allow the user to send meeting requests and reminders via SMS. If the recipient has a WM device, and has the app installed, the meeting invitations can be intercepted on the receiving device and added to the user’s calendar (if accepted), and a response sent to the meeting organizer (Accept, Tentative, or Decline). Automatic meeting reminders can also be scheduled to send to meeting attendees.
These SMS messages are created in a way that they can be read by the recipient if they do not have the app installed on their device, or even if they don't have a WM device. This means that you can still use the app to notify meeting attendees with all of the meeting info, and send reminders, regardless of if they have a WM device or not. This app can be helpful in any setting: Business Meetings, Family Activities, Personal Events, etc.
UPDATE
This is the second BETA trial I am posting. This will expire on Monday, 8/24/09. I will be posting a revision at that point, with changes made based on additional feedback from this post. For anyone that helps by providing useful, constructive feedback, I will make sure you receive a copy of the final pre-release build.
FEEDBACK
If you encounter any errors, screenshots are helpful! Also, a brief description of the actions that caused the error (as well as if you are able to reproduce the error via the same actions) is helpful. Feedback from people with devices that know each other (i.e. husband/wife, friends, etc.) that could test this between devices would be incredibly helpful.
Post #2 contains information on device requirements, as well as a changelog showing what has been added in the latest build. Also shown are plans for upcoming additions to the app. I have also added screenshots to the post #3.
Thanks!

OK. Thanks for the heads up.
1) Did you get this error immediately upon opening the program? If not, what were the actions leading up to the error?
2) Do you have .NETCF 3.5 installed on your device?
EDIT: 3) What version of WM are you running? 6.1? 6.5?
EDIT: 4) Did you install to device or SD Card?
Thanks!
Me and a friend of mine downloaded it this morning and so far its seemed to work out great! I'll keep using it and let you know if anything comes up, othwise good work!
im guessing the app has to be constantly running on the recipient's end in order to add the invite info to his calendar....

No. All you have to do is launch the application once (generally right after installing). Once it's launched, it creates an application launcher that automatically launches the app once an SMS with the appropriate criteria is received. This way the app isn't always running down the battery and consuming memory. So the app can be completely closed once it's been launched for the first time.
Thanks!

Ok so I have done everything I can to try and get an error. The only error I have been able to create was when I was trying to remove the last recipient from the invitation (I fixed this in the next build).
If you have any more info on this that would awesome!
Thanks!
Ok, one thing i've found is that you cant receive an invite if your phone is locked.
Any chance of making it WM6/6.1 Standard (Smartphone) compatible as well? TBH, I haven't tried it on my gf's BJ2, but it would be nice if it worked on both platforms.
Testing now, will report back with any findings.

Thanks! This is fixed in the next build. I've set it up to store received meeting invitations so they don't have to be answered immediately.

Possibly. I'm not very familiar with Standard as I only have Professional devices. I will ook into this to see how much of the app will have to change to accomodate Standard. Thanks for the feedback!
When I hit the calendar left soft key, it briefly shows a form on the screen, and then it shows an exception error. After clicking Quit on that error, the app crashes with another error. Both are included in the attachment.

Thanks! That helps out for sure. I think I know where this is coming from. What size screen are you using? Have you tried selecting an appointment from the "Upcoming Appointments" control?

Thanks! Strange it works on my TP (Verizon). I think I've found what's causing it.
On a side note... Everything is looking ahead of schedule to be completed for the next release Monday!
Updated Posts #1, #2, & #3 with the new build!!!
Enjoy and TIA for the feedback!!!
Updated Post #1 with a quick build for a bug fix.
Bug fix in v0.2.8.27119 didn't work.
I got it nailed down now and updated post #1 with the bug properly "squished"!!!

Change default twitter app

Hi - does anyone know of a way to change the default twitter app in the friendfeed from Peep to Touiteur (Which IMO is a FAR better twitter app)?? I only got my handset today and it's my first android device - so slowly getting to grips with it!
CHeers,

SWIFT is one of best twitter clients on android

No, sorry, i don't, but in terms of better twitter apps, have you looked at SWIFT ? It's been the new rising star in twitter clients on android.
On a second note: Since I have not yet received my Desire, could you pleas post either screenshots or a list of settings/preferences that DO show for Friendfeed? I ask specifically about setting intervals for refreshing the stream. Does it provide separate refresh rates for each of the feeds, or just one main one, or none at all?
I ask because this is predictably going to be the biggest battery drainer on the Desire, so I am just getting a leg up before getting my device :;
Sorry - i spoke too son and not even checked out:
http://levelupstudio.com/touiteur
looks like a great twitter client -- and what i just found out is it supports the "twitlonger" API, which makes it, to me all the more useful.

Why twitlonger?

Ok, my wife is the one with the Desire, but from using latest version on my Hero.
Just go to Settings> Accounts & Sync
Click on Twitter, then simply click on 'Remove Account'
That will remove all twitter from FriendFeed.
Then simply use whatever other app you want, either by clicking on the app icon to start it, or by installing the app's widget if it has one.

Thanks for this, but I would like to continue using the friend feed, just not use peep as the default app when opening a post from the friend feed.
@quicksite - No settings I can see for refreshing at all...Battery life was pretty poor yesterday, but i did play non stop with my new toy for like 8 hours

FB Update Sometimes say Via HTC Sense?

Hey guys, I googled my question and XDA-d it pretty hard before asking. So if I missed it, my apologies. I just noticed that sometimes when I post pictures from my "albums" it will say "uploaded via HTC Sense" below it, which is badass of course. Other times though, it wont say via HTC Sense. Its really 50/50. Uploading a picture or Status update Via the FB app for Windows Mobile will say "Uploaded via Windows Mobile," obviously. Just wondering if anyone has found a for sure way to update their status (and upload pics) so it says "Uploaded via HTC Sense" instead of Windows Mobile all the time? Not that Im ashamed or anything....
Thanks if anyone else has had this "problem" and has any advice.
*note*
I did try the following link but nothing I didnt already know or tried.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696007
did you try just using the facebook integration in sense to do the updates and uploads? and not using the windows mobile application ever? Just an idea, not tried it myself but it may do the trick.
I was aware the facebook integration and the windows mobile app were the same thing? Cuz the HD2 did come with the FB app but if there is a status update somewhere in sense Ill search more for it. Thanks for the tip
nope they are slightly different. Two ways of doing the same thing.
Found it. If anyone else in the future needs help with this-
For status updates:
- go to your contacts
- Click "Me" (or whatever your FB account is linked to on your contacts list)
- Scroll to the bottom and click on the area below "Facebook" and it will show "Whats on your mind" (status update) and the button to "share"
I just did two updates within the hour and both show "Posted via HTC Sense"
Always sexy.
Good stuff.
Thanks MEPH for motivating me to look a little more. Hope it helps someone else in the future.

[Q] Vanilla Android and Facebook??

Hi Guys
Long time reader of these forums and have used the guides provided here numerous times. This is my first time post and it's a bit of a noob question but after looking around the forums, I haven't been able to provide a concrete answer.
I remember reading about Facebook integration with Android 2.0+ but could someone clarify how vanilla android interacts with Facebook? I am a huge fan of HTC Sense being able to pull down my friends info into my contacts. Also is there a way by which I can back up all my apps and contacts so that when I've flashed a new ROM I can just restore the data?
Again I apologise for the basic questions, but I couldn't seem to find any solid answer through my searches and I'm itching to put 2.2 on my legend.
Much appreciated
Linking Facebook and Google-Contacts works in 2.* as far as the names are the same. Ihaven't found a function like in sense where you can directly point to a specific FB-contact and link it to a google or phone-contact as you want. Regarding your second question, your contacts will be saved @google if you use a googleaccount, for backing up your settings and programs go with TitaniumBackup but your handset has to be rooted for this.
Thanks ^_^ I realised what I'd asked about the contacts only after I'd posted it >.< but all the same thanks for the info
Just btw, which fb app are you using (this goes to everyone) ?
Not a single one I tried so far was good enough.
I have the official fb for android but it doesn't display message whole threads when they are too long and when i click on a notification, it opens up in the browser.
Then i tried fb browser, but that one can't open youtube vids. It tries to open them itself instead of opening them in the yt app, but I'm unable to click on the play button.
the rest is either a copy of these 2, or comletely useless.
Sent from my Legend
I just stick with the default android one...the lesser of the evils out there. But I agree with you in that the apps aren't as good as they could be. Who knows, maybe Facebook will announce some android related news at their mobile event today
I'm using the official one. There is an update, just installed it today. There is now finaly places and when clicking in the notification, no more webbrowser with touch.facebook.com is opened.

the serverside is nearly finished, but im not that fast in developing apps for android.. if anybody out there wants to help me with this project, please pm me. i would love it to have push notifications on rom updates
the core of the app is very simple: receive gcm push and make a notification.. but it would be nice to have an overview what the update does, etc. download from dropbox, goo.im, etc.. very nice features to implement.. but the main thing is only to show a notification for the user and redirect to the xda thread.. serverside manages usage statistics, generate signed apps, etc.. its almost finished..

i and a friend of mine wanted to do the exact same project ^^
we had some ideas, if you are interested, just letme know
the dev/cook registers his rom in romshare
romshare generates a client apk to implement in his rom
the apk contains 2 unique identifiers: romid, versionid
apk registers on first start with server and transfers this two identifiers and his gcm registration id
server has a background task which checks wether a client has the newest version, and sends gcm messages if not
