Break out the bubbly, we have successfully been merged in. Congrats, Verygreen, for all your hard work!
woot!
wonder when the first official nightly is ready. anyone has an idea from past experiences, how long it takes them from announcing the device, to first nightly?
The merge is not fully complete yet.
We most likely missed today's nightly window too. Hopefully tomorrow we'll be fully ready.
That is way awesome. CM 10.2 here we come
Thanks for the update. If you don't mind me asking, what's causing the delay?

Some internal references to supportng repos are broken due to them being renamed + kernel tree somehow failed to upload it seems.

This is great news. I have a Nook HD and hope this will mean that soon more bluetooth keyboards will work with it! (In particular the Anker Ultra-slim). I was interested in verygreen's own updated CM, but was unclear whether this works on the HD or just the HD+.
Perhaps we will also be able to use some planetarium/star charting apps. Invariably I am told that they are incompatible with my device.

My Anker bluetooth kb K1280C (can't remember what it's called) works fine with CM. Whereas bluetooth keyboards don't seem to work on stock. But, bt mice work on stock, and don't work on CM. Go figure.
This sounds like great news & a testament to verygreen's tireless efforts into transforming this crippled color e-reader into the best deal out there for android tablets. I'm excited about this development but can somebody explain what it means to be CM official as opposed to unofficial? & maybe how things will change? (for the better I'm assuming)
I used to have an official CM8 ROM on my old Nexus S 4G a while back & this unofficial CM rom by verygreen runs so much better & more stable than that one did.

Hi,
I bought a Nook HD+ sometime back and have been reading up a lot about rooting and installing custom ROM' on the forum of late. I had planned to install the currently available custom ROM today, but I bumped across this thread.
Being a newbie, from what I can gather, Cyanogen would officially be supporting Nook HD+ ROM', so we can expect an official release soon. So my question is, if it's better to wait for the official CM release or go ahead and install the currently available unofficial version?
Thanks in advance.

go with unofficial, and just update as they release new builds. It will be quite a while until we will see official RC not to mention stable release...
wow this is awesome news, I made a gamble 2 weeks ago to import the nook HD+ to europe hoping that cyanogenmod would support the HD+ in the coming weeks. Now running verygreen's emmc 10.1
Great Work
This is fantastic news. I join everyone in thanking Verygreen.
I hope an official build means easier modifications when using things like autopatcher to create a tabletui. There hasn't been much of an update in a few weeks in that thread.
Awesome news! Thanks again for all your hard work, Verygreen.
Outstanding! Congrats to all involved.
This is due to verygreens hard work, and is a testament to the quality of his code. It is my understanding he will still be doing all the work for CM, but now it will be "blessed" as an official CM port instead of unofficial. The state of the port will still depend on the (excellent) work that verygreen puts into this rom.
Thanks again verygreen for making my Nook HD+ a decent tablet instead of a marginal one.

Generally, when a release has been tested thoroughly and shows no signs of having any major bugs(e.g. camera not working, no touchscreen interaction) it is considered stable and usable as a daily driver for most people. The nightly builds of CM7 are considered unstable, because as new features are added on a daily basis, there is a possibility that those features/corrections may break some functionality in the device. This is not always the case, but it can happen.
This build seems pretty stable to me at least. Have at it and tell me/everyone what you think.
Issues?
Anyone test this out yet? Are there still issues with camera res, etc? How about Netflix playback?
thanks.

I'd like to. I'm going on vacation in a few days, so after Wednesday I may not do a build for a week. Until then I'm planning on doing a release every night, contrary to what I stated in the OP. I'm not one for thorough testing/debugging/fixing though, so I will not attempt to patch/add anything to these releases other than what a nightly repo sync adds.

The nightly list for Harmony is huge; however they do not seem to be packaging up for release like the other devices... anyone know why or when the harmony nightly will be packaged up and released (it has been almost a month since the last nightly was released!) ?

essentially(at least as far as I understand) The Gtablet build was renamed from harmony to smb_a1002 under the malata name/platform. This broke the buildbot for us for the nightlies, which has not been fixed yet. I have not yet seen an eta on when nightlies for us will be up again.

Hello!
I just read an article on Engadget, reporting news about CyanogenMod 9 and Ice Cream Sandwich. Link (my first post, so waren't allowed to post clickable link... sorry!): engadget.com/2011/12/06/ics-based-cyanogenmod-9-its-on-track-but-not-for-everybody/
It mentions CM9 making good progress, especially for devices powered by the OMAP 4 processor. Considering the OMAP 4430 processor inside the Fire, this must be great news for future Fire ROM's?
Is it likely we'll see a CM9 ROM for the Fire?

Ok, thank you, I'll try to find some more threads about it. Those I've found so far are mostly about porting the CM7 ROM, but I guess the CM9 gets mentioned as well
CM7 has been ported, but does not have sound. The Dev. working on that did that to prove it could be done, then went directly to an ICS port. Another Dev says he has completed ICS, with aspects not working, but sucessfully booting, and will post pics and source later today. It is def. coming. I am waiting for the TWRP 2.0 before I mess with them though. I need successful recovery tools before I am willing to brick a $199 investment.
Sounds really great! I haven't received my Kindle yet, but the idea of running ICS on it is very exciting.
Do any of you have any thoughts about the performance? I've tried some HTC Android phones earlier, and noticed a significant performance increase when I replaced the stock ROM (with Sense) with a Vanilla Gingerbread ROM. Do you believe it will be the same result here? Better performance with Vanilla ICS than with the stock ROM including Amazon's custom UI?
It indeed seems like the developers that are working on the Kindle Fire make great progress! Awesome news for me that is probably importing one to Sweden in the near future. Awesome work developers!
Same here! Importing one to Norway, so a great part of the Kindle Fire Custom UI is more or less 'useless' for me... ICS will certainly make it a lot more versatile!

On ICS and love it...now gonna try CM9!
I have been on ICS for a week now and love it...Now its time to try out CM9, since they got a new update today! Want to give HUGE THANKS to all the DEVS!! You have made my Kindle Fire AWESOME!!
I also installed the cm9 beta earlier this week. I've updated with each new release and it just keeps getting better. It runs so much faster than the OEM software and most of my apps install with ease. Can't thank the devs enough for their work.
Kindle Fire ICS beta is awesome
The new Kernel by Hashcode is amazing a step in the right direction for perfect KF support for ICS. Thank you to Hashcode, JackpotCalvin, and all the other devs who put in so much time to get this working!
Hey all, I'm running the Team EOS nightly and was wondering if there is any advantage to restoring to stock honeycomb for the official ICS update?
Should I just wait until a rooted ICS version based on the official is released?
It was released already, it's at the top of the development forum...flash with CWM, it's already rooted. From what I understand, it's probably faster for 3D gaming...could be wrong though.
Are there any issues with the official ics? I would do a search but it seems the search function is missing for some strange reason.

It is, I've got Uno and MC3 on mine and they are working fine.
I decided to load up the official rooted release and so far it's pretty much the same as Team EOS's build. Team EOS does seem to be a bit snappier, and I do miss the reboot options on Team EOS build. The only improvement I see with the official is the camera, that seems to be snappier and more responsive on the official.
Only issue existing on both version is the Revision3 app that just won't load.

I've been running rooted ICS stock for several days now ... installed the leaked RC, then rooted.
Your question about EOS vs. stock gets the standard answer from me - are you happy with EOS and want more features in the future? If so, then stay with EOS.
For me, I'll stay with stock rooted - I just want a tablet that works and not interested in tweaks. I'll spend my tweaking time on my Photon.
There is no objectively right or wrong answer to your question, and nobody else can answer it for you. Enjoy!
Good thread. I was curious as well because knowing verizon (any carrier really) i doubt I'll see ICS anytime jan or feb and i konda want it now...

Actually you don't have to root your Xoom if you just want ICS. I believe there is a stock ICS rom out there too. You will have to unlock the bootloader though.
From my perspective if you are running a rooted stock version of ICS there is virtually not a single reason. Stock isn't overclocked, a lot of enhancements are missing etc. But if you run a completely stock ICS with no root there are some advantages. For example, if you run a non-rooted stock you can rent videos from Google. I can't really think of anything else haha. Go EOS, their ROM is sick.

What benefit does the eos have? No need for OC for me. I actually use the xoom alot during the day and will only jse up mlre battery.
I don't rent videos either so i don't care about that

There are a ton of advantages to EOS ROM over Stock. The major one is the micro SD card is read/writable, all voice-to-text features are working as is facelock, the micro USB port is actually useful now, the EOS quick settings are very nice and they all work! There are several battery options from EOS settings and you can make the notification pull look any way you like.
Even if you don't use the performance features this ROM is the only way to Xoom. Until CM9 or Rogue get one out for the 4G
AOKP is releasing very frequently for other devices, like maguro.
They also say that "We are working with the guys at CyanogenMod to submit our features & enhancements back upstream to their source".
http://aokp.co/index.php/news
But, what about the contrary?
CM 10 seems to have solved the camera issue in the tablet.
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/?p=2860
Isn't it time to speed up a little the development of the jb ROM for it?
Seems Roman (http://aokp.co/index.php/supported_devices/_/samsung/) is not finding that much time do it alone.
Hope we do not get left behind...

Maybe rant was the wrong word to use. But still, he originally posted this thread in the Dev section with no intention to take matters into his own hands and build from AOKP source. So instead, he aired his grievance that we have no AOKP before triptosyll started building for the GTab 10.1.

Thanx for clearing that up for me, I was a bit slow.
(I'm a junior member without enough posts to post in the DEV area, so I'm posting on this thread which seems like the best alternative available to me.)
I've been happily using triptosyll's original AOKP build for the last week or two, and recently upgraded to his Nov 8th build. I ran into some problems with the 4.2 Gapps, so I wiped and reinstalled the ROM with Formula84's 4.1.2 Gaps from GooManager. They are working superbly with the A1 1.7.5 kernel and the latest AOKP build from triptosyll. (The stock browser is still gone, but I don't miss it.) Camera, Gallery, Calendar Sync, Keyboard, bluetooth, etc, all seem to be working fine.
I'm SO happy to have AOKP working again on the Galaxy Tab 10.1! I'm also using the TWRP 2.3 recovery from the A1 Kernel OP and it seems to be working great so far. I've been running into a lot of troubling bootloops and hangs when installing new ROMs using ClockworkMod, so I'm glad to have a different recovery to try.
Thanks to all the devs who are keeping the GT-P75xx alive after Samsung has mostly abandoned us!

I've been out of pocket for a few days and it looks like the latest gapps from triptosyll are working pretty well for people. But if anyone is interested, I'm still using Formula84's since I've had good luck so far with those. Formula84 gaps are available on Goo at http://goo.im/devs/Formula84/gapps-jb-20121012-4.1.2-JZO54K.
I install:
gapps-jb-20121012-JZO54K-Formula84.zip
gapps-addon-JZO54K-Newer_Then_Market.zip
gapps-addon-JZO54K-Picasa-Sync.zip
Note that these are 4.1.2 gapps with a few items from 4.2: gesture keyboard, 4.2 Gmail. But it doesn't have the 4.2 camera (no photosphere). Read the thread for the deets. The development thread for is on RootzWiki: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31532-gapps-412-485486-jzo54k-gapps-package-1012/
Everything I've tried has been working fine. I'm now running the Nov-12 build from triptosyll's OP with these gapps.
Hey all, Team Vanir just added Ovation to their official nightlies a couple of days ago. I haven't installed it as yet on my HD+ but if it's anything like the one on my N7, it will be great. It's an excellent mix of features from CM and AOKP with Team Vanir's special touches and tweaks.
The first nightly 09/24 has been released, give it a look.
Get it here, just scroll down to the Ovation build: http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/
EDIT: Currently, 09/24, 09/25 and 09/26 builds are not booting, just goes to a black screen. I pm'd one of the lead devs (DHO) and hopefully it will soon be rectified.

Yeah, I also thought about the trim issue. If it's built from verygreen's device tree, it should be ok but I'm not sure. However, it may be a moot point as I am unable to get either the build from 09/24 or 09/25 to boot flashing with TWRP. It just goes to a black screen and has to be hard reset twice to get into recovery. Also just tried installing with CWM and that also was a no go.
Don't try installing at this time, I'm going to PM one of the lead Vanir devs and see what he has to say.

Don't try installing at this time, I'm going to PM one of the lead Vanir devs and see what he has to say.

Same black screen/hard reset with Rom Manager/CWM.

Thanks for letting us know, will avoid until trim status is known and the rom is bootable.
If anybody wants to visit Team Vanir community on G+ I've posted a link here: https://plus.google.com/communities/111378032131473754160
Since I haven't heard back from the dev yet, I made a post tonight regarding the ovation builds not booting past the bootloader on G+. Maybe if more of us that are interested in this rom respond, we'll get some positive results. I haven't seen anything on G+ mentioning ovation and the dev I pm'ed hasn't been active on his XDA rom thread since 09/24. The build for 09/27 also doesn't boot, so he may not have even seen my pm and the Vanir team may not be aware of this issue with the rom.
Mike T
I am eager as well. Running it on both my Nexus floor and Samsung Galaxy S3. It's an awesome rom. Hopefully it will be fixed for Ovation soon!

I heard from killersloth the lead devs from vanir: nuclearmistake and DHO were working on fixing some errors for ovation. so I guess we should just wait.

Yeah, I saw that on KS's Slimbean thread. I wouldn't mind if KS became a Vanir maintainer. :good:

is this emmc or sd?
Why do they continue to upload night lies with the same black screen problem?

I believe it's pretty much autobuilt daily/nightly for all their supported devices, this way all commits in general are current. When a fix specific to our device is implemented, the rom will be up to date and ready to go.
I have heard from the dev, DHO and he is working on it. He said he feels confident that he will get it going. I have been testing each nightly as they come out but I'm hoping that he pm's me again to let me know when it's good to go.
Hang in there, hopefully...soon.

Is it dho specifically who is working on it? I need to pm him I think just a few patches are necessary if not building cm.
Oh hell, propping up fans under my laptop now to try and get him some working nightlies.

Yeah, He is the one that pm'ed me back and one of the other devs, Prime Directive told me Ovation was DHO's deal.
LMAO! You and those fans. But you know what? You're still da' man, KS.
EDIT: If you get something going and want me to test, let me know.
Thanks,
Mike T

The laptop man, it's so busted. If I had free time like I did before I would take up the offer from PAC ROM because they have remote build machines I believe.

OK, thanks. I'll keep watching.
Are their nightlies working?
I'm building now from their sources without any changes to try and help find the problem. Maybe I can look at some logs tonight and find something.

The last nightly I tried was 1004 and it still fails to boot. I see there's a 1006 build from nuclearmistake, haven't tried it yet but I don't think it will boot. Both DHO and nuclearmistake have builds, DHO stopped posting his as of 0930.
Hopefully, that means he has been working on it???
DHO builds: http://www.emccann.net/dho/3-Vanir-mirror/4-nighties/
nuclearmistake builds: http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/
Hope you find something to get this going on Ovation, thanks as always for your efforts.
EDIT: I see that they started a thread in the dev forum. Didn't notice it because it's in Original and I didn't think we'd ever have anything in original for this device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472029
