Hi all,
Just purchased a brand new Galaxy S4 Google Edition directly form Google's play store. Everything seemed perfect, but after a couple of hours of usage the phone simply rebooted itself, and after passing the startup google logo, it froze with a weird symbol in the middle and blue/red strikes on the screen. The blue led indicator remains on and the screen remains frozen. Shutting the phone on and off takes me back tyo the same issue. The only solution is a battery pull which makes it work perfectly well for a couple of hours until I get the same error back.
I did a complete factory reset, including data and cache wipe, and got the same error. It seems to happen randomly, with both the phone in
standby mode and while using it. It also happened with sim and without a sim card installed while connected only to a WI-FI network. About two or three times during the day.
As it is a brand new phone, I do not want to install any new firmware as I wouldn't like to void my warranty. I still don't want to believe this brand new phone is defective though.
As an additional note, the phone's temperature and performance seems perfectly fine. When working the phone's performance and condition seems perfectly fine with no other associated issues.
Anyone heard or experienced something similar?
Thanks,
Alberto

Hi guys Ive got a new problem with my nexus 4 (this time not user inflicted :angel on friday my phone was at 80% battery and i turned it off, it had been working fine these past few weeks but now it wont turn back on, i've tried the following things:
Charging overnight with original charger from the mains
holding the buttons in all combinations then putting the charge lead in and holding them for at least 30secs
The phone doesn't have a notification light of any kind
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
ps the bootloader is unlocked so i guess sending it back isn't an option
Some people have said they sent it back with unlocked bootloader without issues. I don't see the issue as long as you still have stock.
You can try removing the battery and reinserting it, then charge. Or replacing the battery.

Ok thanks i might try that
Ive called lg and im going to send the phone in under warranty, ill let you know how it goes:fingers-crossed:
I think I got the same problem -kinda. I clicked reboot and then went on to stare at my laptop screen for a while. The last thing I notice is that it's at the bootanimation. The next time I look at it again, it's dark. well, of course, since I naturally thought the screen is off but the problem is nothing happens no matter what I do -just like OP. oh, and there's no blinking red light or whatever.
One thing I notice is that the device is listed under adb. If the device is off shouldn't there be nothing listed there? So, is this damn device still turned on?

Your ADB is enabled but is not activated for your connected device, it is activate by the popup notification in the phone.
Do a factory reset.
sometimes for some whatever reason phones can get stuck in adb sideload mode(i saw only 2 phones do that, and one was GS3 with cm installer, the other was an old galaxy ace).get a rom zip and take a look and see if adb sideload Works.
fixed it. I've charged it the whole night before I posted that screenie. I've approved the rsa fingerprint or whatever before the phone dies so technically it should connect since I've even pushed some files around before that. What i'm trying to point out is that even though the phone is dead(?), why does it appear under adb? I could fathom fastboot but adb? So all the while I'm charging it overnight and frantically raping the power button pressing it like some nuts, the N4 is actually booted up? damn.
Anyway, I charged it for a couple more hours since my last post and then just now, I pressed the power button for about a minute (connected to pc) and suddenly the notification on my pc went nuts. It's saying the N4 is being connected and disconnected over and over again -goes on for about a minute and all the while the cursed red light appears though it goes off after a while. Hit the power button again after the light disappeared and voila -it booted up normally like nothing happened :curses: --talk about acting innocent.
Tried doing some reading on why it even happened but I don't get it at all. Oh well, whatever. I just hope it doesn't happen again.
Glad you got it sorted, lg sent me an email saying they are sending me the phone back, they haven't asked for any money so i assume they've fixed it under warranty
Got it back today, says the phone has had a new battery and flex. Could the damage have been caused by the wireless charger?
Hello,
I've just created this new thread to inform you about how my Z2 is broken after two weeks of use.
Today at noon the touchscreen started to do some unusual things, I wrote some messages and I recognized that I wrote multiple letters when touching just one, not one aside the tapped letter but at the other end of the screen.
I wondered how that happened, tried again and again, restarted the phone, nothing changed.
At home I called sony care to ask if anything like this was already known, they just advised me to "repair" the phone through pc companion.
Now I can say that nothing worked and I'm sure it's a hardware defect, by experience I would say it looks like water damage to the digitizer/touchscreen controller.
The flaps were always closed except for charging at the bedside table and I'm sure it didn't rain there.
I will keep you posted what is going to happen involving warranty and xperia care.
Greetings

now I was able to use the manage attachments button, must have been an internal error, thought it was spam protection, too...

I had the same problem, after two weeks too. I got a new one, but now I'm scared...
This also happened to me when I'm texting, it inputs multiple letters. I think this is a software issue as it happens after making a phone call. I changed to TouchPal keyboard and it happened less. I think the Xperia keyboard has bugs as well. But it rarely rarely happens and I can't duplicate the bug.
Don't know what causes it, seems software related to me. Turn of the screen and turn it back on worked for me. Happened just once...
Lucky for you, problem persists at the exact same spots.
Since yesterday the touchscreen went full rogue a few times, "touching itself" everywhere for a few seconds.
Trying to change it at the shop of my provider today by implied warranty.
Check your screen with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.easylabs.multitouch&hl=pl
Got the phone to my provider this afternoon, the shop assistant examined the device extensively and was pleased by getting informed about the older batch numbers that have some issues (mine was a 14w17 with off center camera and flash).
He started to write down contact details and a description of the failure.
Then he got to a support guide for checking the device before accepting it for warranty, in this guide there was a step to check the wetness indicator beneath the sim card slot...
Suddenly "ohhh...", he said the indicator turned red, i looked at the spot that looked to me like the indicator and said, ok, yes, seems like you are right, ****...
He said that he is very sorry but he can not accept the device like this.
I went out, knowing that he is not to blame for this, called xperia care and was really upset, asked for the nearest xperia care partner to do a water-proof test.
The woman at the hotline asked why I would want to do the test, I answered because the touchscreen is defect and the guy at the provider store said the wetness indicator went off.
She answered that the Z2 has no such thing as a wetness indicator, at least not one that is visible from the outside, the thing you can see is the hardware reset button and the pcb.
Went into the store again, went through all the steps and got a 1:1 change of the device, the shop assistant was amazed that I get a 1:1 change, that would nearly never happen.
We agreed that it may be that Sony informed vendors of faulty batches so that they get replaced without hardware checks and his support guide was an old version of the Z or Z1 because the device is still too new.
I'm happy that I get a new device without any more hassle.

They would have changed it directly if they had a device in stock, they ordered a new device directly so that I hopefully get the new device on friday.

I have exactly the same problem with my Z1 since i upgraded to 4.4 and whats bad is that its even present in 4.3 when i downgraded. Before upgraded to 4.4 i never had such an issue, its very annoying!

Sorry for replying this late...
Got a device out of an older batch, it's a 14w15, everything is good except camera displacement.
I think the vibration in this device feels a little weirder not as good as in the last device.
I even got an unbranded decive, no magenta t at the startup and less apps to deactivate.
Keeping it and hoping that it lasts the next two years.
Thanks for your replies and support.

Hey
I recently bought a used G900H (seller said the box was only opened and phone not used but doesnt seem right)
So it looks mint, just like a new one would. Is certainly not a fake one too, passes all the tests, works very fluently and scores 42000+ on Antutu. Just flashed lollipop on it and all is nice BUT :
I tried to use s-beam and generally nfc - toggle turns on and phone thinks it works but doesnt, cant transfer anything, nothing happens at all. Same for IR (infrared), app thinks it works but it doesnt and I looked at IR transmitter through a camera and it doesnt light up as it should when being used. Blue led indicator flashed though.
SD card works but a couple of times a day promts that sd card is blank or unsupported, then eventually starts working again. SOmetimes promts it is safe to remove by itself.
Battery cover was 10/10 but just after what was like 5 times I removed and put it back on to interchange sd cards etc, 4 small cracks appeared on it,a piece of it even has fallen out and left a hole near a side.
I was also having battery drains but disabled some google services and battery is fine (by the way I have checked and the battery is genuine one)
What is happening ? I would appreciate any information
try to do factory reset wipe data etc. then download cpuz to be sure that it is real g900h (exynos).
after all if still having issues probably the phone has been damaged from the seller ..
I've had multiple factory resets and tried multiple roms, I am not new to android and this is in fact a genuine exynos model.
Everything points to a fake unit, or at least missing some hw. Did you download antutu yourself or did it came pre-installed on the phone?
I installed antutu myself, did all the checks, phone is 100% genuine and software wise works flawlessly. Also checked with Genuine galaxy app etc - passes just fine. Camera is incredible and speed of the phone as well. Also I have flashed G900H firmwares successfully so I wouldnt have succeeded that on a fake device. So in the case that seller had the phone damaged, what might have been done to it ?
Lollipop is very bad.. It made ud return the phone for repairs as it is so bad.
The nfc is located at a weird point on the back..
Battery drains like an insane... 30 percent pr. Hour here from time to time
I have also had terrible battery drain prior to disabling some services.
Here are some screenshots of what I had, maybe someone knows what might be the cause of this activity ? Battery was draining 100 to 0% in a few hours. I have now disabled these services using Disable Service app and can get through the whole day with heavy use no problem.

So if anyone is having similar problems here is what I found :
This was a refurbished phone thats all
and probably wasnt being used to well too
Today i encountered a big problem with my Mi A1. After i unlocked the phone in the morning, the home button (the back and recent buttons work) and right side of the screen stopped working completely. I tried to restart the phone many times and look up the issue on google but nothing worked.
Than i tried turning on the "Pointer location" option in dev options, and it showed me, that a perfect portion of right side of the screen doesn't work, when i was sliding my finger around the right side, obviously not in such a perfect line (as seen on the screenshot).
I would like to know, if it's related to me updating to a new security patch the day before, some hardware issue or something else.
I would apreciate any help.

Thank you for your response
I didn't really change anything on the phone, when the problem appeared. Once i just unlocked it and the screen side with the home button stopped working.
I'm running completely stock android 8.1.0 with an October 5th security patch. I have updated on that security patch the night before, but i don't really think that this could be the problem... or could it be? I have a crack in my screen too, but it wasn't problem for a long time, since i dropped it months ago and i was living with it completely fine with no problems at all. The only thing i have changed on the phone is just a launcher - Nova.
And even more weird is that it sometimes works. For example last night it started working again, everything was fine and than in the middle of today it stopped working, again. I just locked the phone with the problem gone, unlocked it 5 minutes later and boom... it was back there. I don't understand this at all. Could this be due to some bad hardware connection, like wrongly connected cable etc.?

Well i think it's the crack on your screen that mess the touchscreen.
If a factory reset doesn't solve it then it's hardware?
You can have a fully cracked screen and phone will still be usable. And you can have a single crack but badly placed and screen is f***ed up
Try to repair it by yourself or by a professional.
Broken Screen rarely pass with the warranty...
I'm sorry bro.
Still try to factory reset the phone, just in case

Okay, I'll try to reset the phone, but i don't really think it could be the crack, because it happend months ago and worked fine.
Is there any other way, than a factory reset and hardware repair maybe? Because i don't really wanna pay 1/3 of the phone price just for a new screen that doesn't really affect anything. It's just a little crack on the top half of the phone, that doesn't affect the digitizer. (Or it didn't affect it for months)
Alltho thanks for your help. I'll try the factory reset and if it will work, i'll add a new comment.
Hi!
My LG phone is doing weird after i did a factory reset 2 days ago. The battery empty's like a waterfall and the phone is continiuously hot.
I tried to do another factory reset/wipe but i got the same issue again. Even with the battery saver turned on, the phone stays alive for only 3 hours with 12 minutes screen on time.
Screenshot battery usage:

What can i do to fix this?
So i did a reset again, installed all my apps, logged in to them, the only thing that i did not do was place the sim card. And it works perfectly! But the moment i pit the sim in it, the battery drains like crazy again due to 'Android System' using all the resources continiously. What the hell is going on? ??
Did you try to do a factory reset using the power button and the Volume down button. Is it going to make a difference maybe. I usually do a factory reset, once with settings so I can wipe the sd card then I use the power button option, so yes twice. works for me.
Yes that is what i did, after that the issue started. The weird thing is, i used another phone (samsung galaxy s3) and the same thing happened there! I just received a new simcard to see if that was the cause of the problem. I hope this issue is over now, i will message here if it is resolved or not.
Edit: sadly it does not! Android os does still use all of the battery, so the sim swap dis not work. Can this be something related to my google account and the settings that come with it? How can i find out why android os is using so much battery?
Tried another system wipe, checked the APN settings since it only drains while sim is in the phone, but that didnt help either
Are you testing any beta app? Try to exit any beta program and restart your phone... for me works.

No i am not, only using regular apps like whatsapp, facebook and such things. No beta's of any kind. The problem also happened rivht after factory reset. Only placed sim and logged in with my google account and it happened already. If i dont place sim the problem is gone.
I think i found the problem, it seems the LG G6 is not reading the sim correctly sometimes. That would explain the phone eating trough the battery, restarting into safe mode at night, and sometikes giving the error that it cant find all wifi networks due to simcard. I'm afraid its hardware related since a factory reset did nor help.
It could be that your little sim tray holder is deformed, and no longer able to properly align the sim card.
I replaced my sim tray holder after it broke, and things works great. I think they are down to less than $5 on ebay now. I bought two trays just in case the tray breaks again.
