I just looked at the framaroot solution, but am I clear in understanding that there is no decent ROMS available for the A3000-F?

There is Two versions of the Lenovo A3000 i have seen so far the A3000-H and A3000-F more than likely you have the A3000-F as do i the way i was able to root my device was with kingo root... Since this is my first time posting i can not post the link directly but the website is

Hi is there two firmwares then or does a3000h and a3000f use the same firmware and just detect hardware model?
As I cannot find cwm guide or info for f only h don't know whether to risk it.
I have a3000f. BTW the source code just says a3000 only one available anyway.

I am not cleared with your problem. If you are trying to unlock your recovery than
1. Install Acer recovery application from play store.
2. From tegraowners.com download latest recovery image.
3. Save your recovery image in your sd card.
4. Run Acer recovery and backup your current recovery image.
5. Select install from sd card, and update your recovery.

For OTA ICS:
Root using Blackthunders one click root tool. Then use Afterota to add kernel, v7 unlocked bootloader and CWM.
ICS has locked bootloader that you need to unlock before flashing a recovery.

Rooted! See my guide in my S5 Apps Mod thread in the Themes section (Grand 2 forum). All set and 100% verified.

Please search in YouTube. Video demonstration is available for grand 2 rooting procedure.
If u want to unroot u need to flash only kitkat rom. Else downgraded version will hard brick ur phone

you will have to be detailed as possible with which were the steps you took to root your device. We don't know which method you used so it1s impossible to assist you.
